Today has been an odd day for Alear. First, he awakens from a thousand-year slumber with amnesia, and is then greeted by those who call themselves the 32nd and 33rd Stewards of the Dragon - Vander and the twins Clanne and Framme - who tell him that he himself is the Divine Dragon Prince. Next, they end up battling undead warriors called the Corrupted. After that, a big white dragon shows up and eliminates every single one of the Corrupted, and this dragon turns out to be his supposed mother Queen Lumera, also known as the Divine Dragon Monarch.
An overjoyed Lumera takes Alear back to what she claims is his home, back to Lythos Castle. She's very delighted by the sight of him finally awake, he could tell very easily.
"Mother?" Someone called.
Alear, Lumera, and the stewards turn their heads towards the direction of the voice. Walking into the throne room is a young woman who bears a striking resemblance to Alear.
This young woman's hair and eyes have the colors red and blue, just like Alear. The left half of her hair and right eye are red, while the right half of her hair and left eye are blue. She is dressed in white clothing with blue and gold features, just like Alear, except hers are tailored for a woman. A sword is tucked to her hip, which says she is swordswoman.
"Ooh, she's finally here!" Framme cheered.
"They look so much alike," Clanne thought aloud.
"Calm yourselves, you two. Let them have their moment," Vander pleaded.
The young woman walks towards Alear, staring at him with a mixture of emotions on her face. She's surprised, but she also appears to be evaluating him. Alear did not dare say a word, even though he's curious as to why she has this young woman has this intense gaze in her eyes.
"Uh, hello," Alear greeted awkwardly.
"Huh..." The young woman uttered.
"Oh, dear. I was so overjoyed, I almost forgot to reintroduce you two," said Lumera.
"Who is she?" Alear asked.
"This is your sister Raela, the Divine Dragon Princess," Lumera introduced.
"My sister?!" Alear exclaimed, shocked.
"I see you don't remember as well," Lumera said sadly. "Oh, well, at least you two are reunited after all this time."
"Still, I feel awful for spoiling the reunion," said Alear. "It hurts me to upset you both because I don't have my memories."
"You lost your memories?" Raela questioned.
"I'm afraid your dear brother awoke with amnesia," Lumera informed. "While it does pain me that he does not remember us, what matters is that he has finally returned to us."
"I am really sorry, uh... sister," Alear apologized.
"Oh, don't trouble yourself over this, um... brother," Raela replied as kindly as she can.
"Well, what are you waiting for, Your Divineness? Aren't you gonna give him a big hug?" Framme asked.
"Queen Lumera hugged him earlier, although he did not seem to appreciate it much," said Clanne.
"That is only because of his lost memories," said Vander.
"Well, there's no need to rush if it's overwhelming for our dear Alear," said Lumera.
"I really am sorry about all this," said Alear. "I must've been careless during the war a thousand years ago. I wouldn't be struggling to remember my life if I didn't get seriously wounded."
"Regardless, it's good to see you again after all this time. Welcome home, brother," said Raela.
"Vander, could you and the stewards wait in the gardens?" Lumera requested. "I would like to speak with my children, just the three of us."
"We shall, Queen Lumera," Vander obeyed.
Vander, Clanne, and Framme leave the throne room and head for the gardens. That just leaves Queen Lumera alone with her children Alear and Raela. Alear continues to feel awkward because of his lost memories. Raela still appears to be gazing intensely at her brother.
"Even though today isn't exactly how I envisioned, I am so happy to see the three us reunited at last," Lumera said happily.
"This is all too much, really. You're all telling me that not only am I a Divine Dragon but also a prince," said Alear. "That kind of title comes with a lot of responsibility, doesn't it? I am honestly feeling pressured here."
"Well, it's a good thing you're not alone, brother. We'll help you," Raela promised.
"Now, come along, Alear. There is something I need to show you," said Lumera.
After giving Alear a tour of the Ring Vault, where six of the twelve Emblem Rings are kept, Queen Lumera proposes a practice battle. It will be Alear and the stewards against Lumera and Raela. To even the odds, Lumera equips herself with the Ring of the Holy Knight (Sigurd), while she gives the Ring of the Princess Exalt (Lucina) to her daughter Raela. Lumera also created enemy soldiers out of plants and rocks as obstacles for her son's path. Defeating the fabricated soldiers was simple enough, but Raela was a tough opponent. Alear was overwhelemd by Raela's speed and strength, but a well-timed parry and assistance from Emblem Marth gave him the victory. Oddly enough, defeating Lumera was a little easier than defeating Raela.
Unfortunately, none of what happened jogged Alear's memories. Still, Lumera was full of joy to be able to spend time with him again. They call it a day and promise to speak again tomorrow morning.
In his room, Alear thinks about all that has happened today, from all the fighting to reuniting with his mother.
"Queen Lumera seems so kind and caring," he thought aloud. "I'm sure she was a wonderful mother. If only I could remember those days. I must've felt lucky to be her child."
A knock on the door interrupts his thoughts.
"Uh, come in," Alear responded.
The door opens and in comes his sister Raela. She has this odd look on her face, but Alear did not dare question her about it, fearing it would be a sensitive questioned. Instead, he says...
"Hello, sister."
"Brother," Raela greeted him in return. "I just came here to check on you. I hope you are comfortable."
"I am, very," said Alear. "Lythos Castle is so beautiful. I just wish I could remember all the memories I had of this place."
"It is a shame that we lost half of you," said Raela. "But I suppose all that matters is that you are awake. We can forge new memories, memories that I hope you will treasure. At least, that's what Mother hopes."
"Can I ask you something? What is it like being Queen Lumera's child?" Alear asked.
"Well, I'd rather you find out for yourself," said Raela. "But to give you a simple answer, it's a wonderful feeling. What you said about Lumera is true. She is a very kind and caring person. To be her child, it both an honor and a joy."
"What about us? Were we close?" Alear asked.
Raela's face changed dramatically at the question. Her furrowed eyebrows and dropped smile are telling him something the opposite of positive. She was silent for an awfully long time, which worries Raela.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I offend you in any way?" Alear said apologetically.
"No, no, you didn't," Raela said in an attempt to reassure.
"I want to believe you, but your face tells a different story," said Alear.
Raela sighs, upset that she made her feelings obvious.
"Are you upset that I got myself hurt?" Alear guessed. "If so, I can only apologize. I don't remember what happened, but I must've made a mistake."
"Please, don't worry yourself over that," said Raela. "Whatever problems I had with you in the past, they are just that. In the past. We are both children of the Divine Dragon Queen. Her only children. We cannot afford to be at odds with one another. I only wish to reconnect with you, if you are as willing to do so."
"Well, I'd love nothing more than to get to know you again," said Alear.
The two exchange genuine smiles, although there was awkward silence between them again. That odd look on Raela's face shows up again, worrying Alear again.
"We do look a lot alike, don't we?" Alear said, trying to continue the conversation.
"Well, we are children of the same mother. Similarities are inevitable," said Raela.
"Haha, I suppose so," said Alear.
"I must commend you again for how you performed at the mock battle," said Raela. "You may have lost your memories, but you still have the body and skill of a fighter."
"I still have a lot to learn," said Alear.
"I will teach you all I know," Raela promised. "But don't expect me to lose to you next time. I'll train extra hard for our next mock battle."
"I look forward to it," Alear smiled.
"Well, that's all I have to say. Good night, brother," said Raela.
"Good night, sister," said Alear.
