Dual Fates

Chapter 1: The life of two.

Summary: Two best friends who are only two years apart in age, join U.A to try and fulfill their goals. One wishes to fulfill a dying wish and the other is forced to attend; however, the other mostly sees it as a great escape away from her father. Uviel and Haru both have villains breathing down their neck, unknowingly expected...to flatten the school. Love will form and decisions will be made when the two best friends encounter many obstacles in their life, pain, depression and more.

Watch how two girls with similar fates, overcame those who aim to use them as a weapon to destroy the Academy.

Rapid clicks and buttons tapping throughout the air echoed in a dark bedroom. Blue curtains hid the outside world behind the windows and flashes of light lit up the bedroom from a T.V that emitted RPG cries. Grunts, screams, graphic sounds of flesh and bone breaking. A young girl at fifteen years of age was sitting with her knees up against her chest. "Yeah, I know it sucks..." the girl's quiet voice spoke over a cellphone that rested on her shoulder. Her head was leaned to the side to keep it from falling off and her bright blue eyes were glued to the flashing screen before her.

With how dark the room was, her hair color was hard to make out. A controller in her hands tapped at buttons and fought against her opponent in the game and the sound of another girl's voice on her cellphone met her ears in response to her words. "No, no, I'm not going out. I'm so close to beating this guy! I mean, come on, I'm close to reaching past this loser's rank! Whoever they are, they're good and I'm-" before she got to finish, her character in the game suddenly got decapitated by two large blades of her opponent.

All was silent, not even the person on the other end of her phone, said anything. Shade veiled over her blue eyes and her lips scowled, nothing but revenge sparked in her gaze the moment she saw the, you died across the screen. Over and over, she heard the person's voice until she finally snapped. "What?!" the girl roared out on the speaker, though, silence met her ears and she breathed to calm herself down. "Sorry, I died. This dude's good..." sighed the girl and her long bangs that laid over her one eye, that had black eyeliner on her bottom eyelid, brushed against her nose when she lowered her head.

Upon hearing the girl's voice, she chuckled to herself tiredly and laid back on the floor. A cushion was under her butt and it flattened out completely when she laid down. "Yuhuh...~" she agreed on whatever the other girl was talking about and nodded. However, her bedroom door was pushed open and it made her jump. "AH!" screamed the girl as she hopped to her feet, but fell back down on her butt when she tried standing. "Haru don't do that! Why didn't you tell me you were on your way here, over the phone?!" yelled the girl once she rose to her feet and nudged her controller out of the way.

"Hahaaa!~ Yeah, like I'd miss the chance to give you a good jump-scare!" Haru, who stood in the doorway, teased her friend and put her cellphone in her pocket. Her long, brown hair, which swayed behind her was in a low ponytail. Her ponytail reached down past her backside and her bangs hid most of her face, hiding her blind green eyes.

"Hey, Haru...?" the fifteen-year-old girl questioned as she stood there appearing bored and turned to shut her game off. The T.V's screen was blue now, so she turned that off too and sighed. "I hate it, you know..." she finished then frowned, her upper lips were black and her bottom lip was normal. Swirling emotion could be seen in her gaze and her best friend immediately noticed the wavered sound in her voice.

"Uviel, there are two paths in this world. Light and dark, the best thing you can do right now is to try and move on..." Haru's serious eyes narrowed when answered. With a flip of the switch to the side of the door, she reached over and the light in her room brightened up.

Uviel shut her eyes and grumbled, frowning all the while. Her bright red hair could be seen from the sudden burst of light in her room, it was a short hairstyle. Long bangs that touched her collar bone and the right side were trimmed off, not completely shaved. Lines in her skin were very distinct about her and had bright blue eyes that would shock almost anyone.

She wore a blue, baggy tank top that had Death spelled across it and baggy night pants that she slept in the previous night. Her hair looked a bit messy, so knowing this, Haru walked over with a comb in her hand. "I may be blind but I know you so well, that I know for a fact that you never get ready for the day!" Haru laughed at her own words and started combing the girl's hair.

"You're two years older than me, Haru... You're not my mom," Grumbled the girl as her only visible blue eye averted to the side.

"Heh, I know I'm not. I'm just looking out for you. Besides, I have an idea! You told me over the phone yesterday that you wanted to fulfill your parent's wish, to honor them somehow right?" the taller young woman questioned and finished combing. She leaned back and sighed happily, then stashed it in her pocket.

"Mhm..." That was all Uviel answered with until her best friend ran to her closet door and rushed it open.

"Then hurry up! There are some papers for you to fill out on the table, so get dressed!" Ordered her friend and watched the girl sigh, making her way over to the closet. "Don't sigh at me, hehe.~ You're not allowed to be lazy when I'm around," Cheerful, energetic, Haru beamed and giggled at the reluctance of her friend.

"Fiiine, just wait in the hall...Har-Har," the girl groaned, called her by her nickname and started looking through the clothes. In her peripherals, she watched her best friend chuckled to herself as she left her room and closed her door. Another sigh left Uviel's lips when she was alone and got to it, changing out of her pajamas.

~~~Timeskip~~~
In the kitchen, she and Haru sat, albeit Uviel seemed rather annoyed at what she was seeing. "An application...from U.A...?" her disbelieving question made Haru laugh and stand up.
"Yeah! My idea was...if you want to honor your parent's wish to go outside and be happy, what better idea than trying U.A out?!" she exclaimed and put her hands on her hips, lips grinning.
"U...A... The one place that's so hard to get into, so difficult to be accepted in, that only 2% of the majority of people manage to get a place there...?" Disbelief and a twitching eye were evident when she spoke. "Not to mention..." Uviel began and trailed off. "They make you run around and do stuff," she finished with a sigh and closed her eyes.
She wore a hoodie with the hood over her head and baggy blue jeans that looked like years took its toll on it. Her long red bangs dangled past her face on the side and the shade of her hood made her only visible eye, stand out a lot. "Obviously...but you said you wanted to honor your parent's deaths, so what better way than to attend one of those prestigious schools? Besides, if you don't at least try then I have a Plan B, but that's it this fails.~" Haru chirped with a closed-eye grin and felt rather victorious that her friend was going to sign up.
Haru, in the light, small bits of scales could be seen on the tops of her shoulders and a little on her cheekbones. Fangs protruded from her grin and a long sharp, yellow streak mark that traced just below her eyebrows, could be seen when the sun beamed through the kitchen window.
The yellow skinny jeans she wore had a bit of a white snake-skin pattern, intricately tracing down the front of her legs and some of her front legs could be seen sticking out past the material. On her feet were small brown boots that reached up around her ankle and a zipper that trailed down the top of them. Her top was a little unique, it was a 3-split yellow top, the straps dangled over her shoulders and were held up by another strap that's around her neck. The shirt was long and reached between her legs, almost looking ripped at the ends; there was a tight undershirt too, sleeveless and white.
"You gotta be kidding me... Isn't there some other way I can-" Uviel was about to ask but was abruptly interrupted when her best friend cut her off.
"No!" With an index finger raising up and a hand on her hip, a disapproving frown grew. After hearing the girl groan irritably, she victoriously smirked and heard the pen scratch on the paper.
After a few minutes of filling it out, Uviel lifted the paper high into the air and slammed it hard onto the table. "There! Sheesh, it's not like I'll be accepted anyway! That school's very picky about people, hence that weird 2%!" Uviel pushed the paper and pen backward then laid her head into her folded arms.
"Great! I'm looking forward to the results!" Haru chirped happily with a clap of her hands and giggled. "Hey, do you think we could hang out later? My dad's not home and won't be until later. Wanna hit the newest cafe in town? I'm dying for some hard-boiled eggs right now.~" questioned her best friend and she practically drooled at the imagined taste.
"Sure... How about twelve-ish...? It's ten o'clock right now," Uviel suggested and peeked her eyes over her biceps at the clock, that hung on the wall above the stove. "Kinda would like to get my revenge on that asshole in Stargazers Online..." (Not a real online game, just randomly thought it up XD!) She informed her best friend who only hummed in response.
"Well, alright! Good luck with that, haha! You love your PvP, don't you? Anyway, I'll see you later and don't forget to clean up the stove... I can smell your breakfast..." Haru's nose scrunched up at the smell of bacon, cheese, and biscuits that wafted around the stovetop.
"Yeah, yeah, mom...~" Uviel rolled her eyes at that comment and couldn't help but giggle at her friend's lack of tolerance for her cooking. She rose to her feet and made her way to the sink, getting a rag wet so she could clean up. "See ya later, Har-Har," With a wave of her hand, the sound of Haru's feet patted across the kitchen floor and her front door squeaked open.
"Seeya! Oh- and you have mail, I heard the mailman stop by your mailbox earlier!" she chimed loudly so Uviel could hear and shut the door.
Later that day, it showed Haru reaching her front door after fifteen minutes of walking home. Her hand lifted and the smile she once had, dropped... Her hand began to shake slightly when she rose it to the knob, about to put her key in. Her blind eyes wavered, and heard her own heart thump harshly against her ribcage.
There was something inside that she was hoping, she wouldn't come across for a while. She could smell alcohol from beneath the door, her senses being sharper than the average human, allowed her to pick up on things that normal humans couldn't. Like the faint smell of drugs or other stuff that people would use dogs for, to hunt down. Shakily twisting her key, the door unlocked and spit was swallowed.
As the door opened, the apartment she lived in was dark and messy. With all the smells, the sounds, vibrations in the air and on the ground, it all gave her shapes and colors. Figures of objects gave off an odd hue of color that she was so used to, no thanks to her strange vision through her senses.
A step forward, then another, she walked in, and not long did she freeze in her spot at the smell of someone rather familiar... With her senses picking up the colors from all of the smells and vibrations, she could make out a figure sitting down at the table. Very slowly did the door close and as soon as it did, that figure bolted from the seat after her.
She squeaked, quickly shut her gaze, and waited for what there was to come, though nothing happened... Peeking an eye open, the smell of alcohol wafted up to her nose and it let her know that a sake bottle was mere inches from her face.
"You... Did you ask to go to that wretched school?!" a deep, clear voice met her ears when he asked and his hidden figure watched her open her blind eyes more.
"N- No! I'd never!" Haru hesitantly took a step back and sensed that the man lowered his bottle. "Dad, I thought you were going to be home late. Did something-" before she could even ask, she flinched harshly when he grabbed her jawline and held her still.
"The higher-ups sent me a damn letter! I thought you made a request to attend U.A!" Roughly letting go of her jaw, her head jerked to the side and her hand reached up to rub it.
The father, with the house so dark and no lights, turned on, was difficult to note any of his features aside from him having a waxed head and a slim figure. A tie could be seen swaying as he walked over to the table in the dining room, then flipped a light on. Gray skin, three large and long black streaks was over his shiny, bald head and his face... A snake nose was evident while scales littered his body, much like any reptile and black eyes examined the letter once he picked it up.
He wore a black business suit and black shoes, that tie of his soon got pulled off after he sat back down in his seat. "No..." he mumbled in disbelief and frowned deeply.
Haru was too afraid to ask her father why he was so upset about the letter and inched closer to try and take a peek. Though, he waded the letter up and chucked it into the trash can that sat near the sink. "The higher-ups want you to attend U.A... I don't even know why, but they do. They know I hate heroes and their damn school, so why are they ordering me to send you?!" fury laced his voice and when he stood up, he looked over at his daughter with his mouth turning grim. "When you go... Don't you dare stray from our path! I have important business and I don't want you sullying our family with that hero crap!" yelled the father as he stormed off down the hall that wasn't far from the kitchen and dining room. He entered a room, then not long after did he come back out with a small bottle and a bag.
"Here!" he demanded and harshly planted the items on the table. "As much as I hate that school, I'll have to pay for your entry. Take these, tomorrow you're waking up early for some training and you're heading straight to U.A!" stern anger laced his voice when he yelled. He truly hated the idea of sending her there, especially since the higher-ups demanded such an absurd thing considering what their occupation was.
A simple nod came from the young woman and she quickly grabbed the items. In a hurry, Haru rushed down the hall, hurried into her room, closed the door, and plopped onto her bed. Those green, blinded eyes watered up and her hand clenched tightly around the bag she held. "Oh yeah...? What if I said...I didn't want to be one...?" her mumbled question was muffled by the blanket her face was buried in.
Lifting her head, she chose to open the bag after placing it on the bed and felt around for whatever was inside. A lunch box, empty venom bottles, a wad of extra cash to help her in school, and her mp3 player she usually listened to while on walks. The other bottle that was too big to fit in the bag was laying on the other side of her, it was just a simple empty water bottle. I want to escape... I want to get away...I don't want to... her monologue echoed as the scene faded to black.
Be a villain... her disembodied voice finished.
