Chapter 7
Tony and Abigail stared at the Arc Reactor that was in the room. Tony ate some fries and sipped on some Coke.
Abigail turned her head a little seeing Obadiah coming towards them with an agitated look on his face. She knew right away he didn't like what was said at the press conference. Now it was time for the blow out of the stock market.
"Well that went well. You just painted targets on our heads. Our stock is going to take a 40 point dive tomorrow." Obadiah said, shaking his head, rubbing his balding head.
Tony didn't answer what Obadiah was saying as he continued to eat his fries. His mind was already thinking of what to do next with the company. Something bigger and better for the future, something that he knew that would make his sister proud.
Abigail bit her lip softly knowing that Obadiah wouldn't take this sitting down. She knew that he was going to try new tactics to get Tony to change his mind. Her heart clenched in her chest in worry that Obadiah would talk Tony out of changing the path of the business.
"Tony, we are a weapons manufacturer. Turning this company around to make baby bottles is like trying to get a bear to walk on its hind legs." Obadiah said looking at Tony like he had done and lost his mind.
"I don't want a body count to be my only legacy. There are other things we can do." Tony said, moving his head to look at Obadiah with a sour look on his face. He didn't want those people to die in vain if he didn't do something about the company's path. He wasn't about to have a large death count with his legacy. He didn't want underhanded business in his company; it was the one thing that he was going to stop.
"Like what?" Obadiah questioned throwing his hands up in irritation.
"We could develop the Arc Reactor."
Obadiah pointed to the Arc Reactor. "This? This was a publicity stunt. It's not even cost effective. We knew that before we built it. Repulsor technology is a dead end."
Tony ripped open his shirt revealing the glowing mini arc reactor that he had made to save his life. "No it isn't."
Abigail gasped as she looked at it with wide green eyes. She didn't think that this was part of Tony. It made her heart constrict in her chest in worry. What exactly had they done to her brother while he was over there for three months as captive?
Obadiah touched the mini arc reactor that was inside of Tony's chest. "Oh my God. It is a miracle you are alive. What must have happened to you over there?" He hugged Tony tightly in his arms.
Abigail swallowed the lump in her throat as she watched the look on Obadiah's face which was rather concerning. Something quite didn't feel right and it made her sick to her stomach to see such a look upon his face. Whatever it was she wanted to try to get to the bottom of it before something terrible happened to either of them.
"We're a team. There is nothing we can't do if we stick together like your father and I. Let me handle this. But you have to lay low. Don't talk to the press again. Can you do that for me?"
"Yes. Thanks Obie." Tony said with a nod of his head.
Abigail pursed her lips together. "Tony…"
Tony turned his head to look at his sister.
"Are you ready to go?" She asked, jingling her keys off her finger. She would be willing enough to drive Tony back home since she was deciding to stay with him.
Tony gave her a small smile and nodded his head. "Yes, I'm ready to go…" He just wanted to get home as soon as possible and begin the work that was reeling in his mind.
Abigail forced a smile onto her lips as she looked at Obadiah. "See you around Obi." She said softly as she wrapped her arm around her older brother and slowly led him out of the building. She bit her lip in worry as she led Tony to her expensive car that he had gotten her for her 21st birthday. She opened the passenger side and helped Tony into it. She took a breath through her teeth and closed the door before quickly moving over to her side and getting in. She turned the key in the ignition starting up the beautiful car with a purr.
Tony looked over at his younger sister. "Alright Abs… something is off about you… what's going on?"
Abigail looked over at her brother shyly out of the corner of her eyes. "I'm fine Tony."
"I know you better than that. You're worried about something."
Abigail let out a soft breath shaking her head lightly. "It's probably nothing that I'm worried about, but I saw Obi's face… something doesn't feel right to me."
"I'm sure it is nothing Abs."
Abigail drove down the road gripping onto the wheel. "I hope you're right about this Tony. I just still have a bad feeling about this whole thing."
"Everything will be alright, Abs. I promise you that." Tony said, giving her a small smile in hopes that he would be able to sooth his sister's concerns.
"Alright…"
