. 12: fulfilling a prophecy

– separator –

In 1 of the offices at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry a figure shook with rage. Voldemort was dead. How was this possible? The figure had done everything they could to make their greatest creation invincible.

It had to be those bloody elementals. They were the 1 thing the figure had not counted on. Thankfully their leader had said that they would be leaving Briton to face its own demons.

The figure snorted. As if Magical Britton would ever lift a finger to do anything. For years now the figure had pulled the strings behind the scenes. Even old Albus hadn't realized how much was in the figure's hands.

Well, it mattered not. Soon they would kill Harry Potter, then Albus Dumbledore, and then she would rule the British magical world. And no one was going to stop her. But first she would need to isolate Potter. Hum... maybe down in that wonderful chamber of secrets?

Harry Potter walked up to the gargoyle guarding the headmaster's office. It was finally time to deal with this prophecy.

"Lemon drops" he said to the statue. At once the gargoyle stepped to 1 side, and a set of stairs began rotating upwards.

Stepping on to the stairs Harry Road then up to a landing with a single Dorr on it. Walking up to the door Harry knocked.

"Come in Harry."

Turning the knob Harry stepped into the office.

"Ah young Harry" Albus said. "What can I do for you?"

Harry settled in 1 of the chairs in front of Albus's desk. "I think it's time I told you my biggest secret, and I also need to ask you for some help as well."

Albus placed the paper he had been reading down on his desk and gave Harry his full attention.

"You may have noticed that Solar didn't appear until I returned from where I was training."

Albus nodded.

"That's because I am Solar."

Albus blinked. He had suspected this when Harry kept getting the calls about fiends, but he had never expected Harry to just come out and tell them.

"Can you tell me who the others are" Albus asked.

Harry shook his head. "I have the right to tell you my secret identity, but despite being the team leader I have no right to expose anyone else's identity."

Albus nodded. He could understand that. "Does this mean Solar is here to fulfill the prophecy?"

Harry shook his head again. "From what I and the elementals that were teaching me could discover, Harry Potter has to be the 1 that vanquishes this dark lord. Since I take on a different identity when I transform, I can't use my elemental transformation to complete my task."

Albus slumped. He was so sure he had found the power the dark lord knew not. Oh well, they would just need to keep looking. "So, what help can I provide to you Harry?"

Harry beamed. "I would appreciate your assistance in marrying Miss Black."

Albus almost choked on a lemon drop he had just popped into his mouth. "Marry" he asked.

Harry nodded. "It is the 1 thing that might turn people away from the path of the elemental. Whoever takes over the power of light gains extraordinary powers. One would get to lead a team of very beautiful women. They would get to knock down enemies with little effort, but once the team is assembled whoever wields the power of light is forced to marry 1 of their teammates."

Albus thought about that for a minute. I would be happy to help you with this."

Harry smiled.

"I do have to ask, however," Albus said. "How are you going to explain this when people ask about it."

Harry shrugged. "I'll just explain a very old contract came due, and both of us agreed to fulfill it."

Albus smiled. "That would do it alright. Was there anything else?"

Harry didn't smile. "I need your help in finally discovering who our real dark lord is."

Albus suddenly looked very old. "Professor Flitwick and I think we have discovered who they are" albus said. A sad tone could be heard in his voice. "Where do you intend to face them?"

Harry smiled. "Why in the place where only I or a phoenix can enter."

The following weeks were a hive of activity. Once Harry had let slip that he and Bellatrix Black were betrothed through an ancient contract, most Hufflepuff congratulated the couple. Not everyone else was as supportive, however.

Draco saw it as that half-blood spawn taking what was rightly his. When this point was raised, Harry had pointed out that Bellatrix was taking his name. This would not give him any control over the house of Black.

Another that had problems was Neville Longbottom. He had cornered Harry 1 day and asked how he could live with 1 of the people who had tortured Neville's parents.

Harry had pointed out that Bellatrix had been under a slave brand even worse than the Imperius curse. He then asked the boy if he held any of those found to truly be under the Imperius curse accountable. If he did, then Harry would not hold his hatred for Bellatrix against him. Although he would ask why those who were not in their right mind did not deserve a chance to heal." Neville left him alone after that.

However, things got interesting for Harry a week before final exams.

Heels clicked on the stone floor as a figure walked into the chamber of secrets. "At last," she thought. "I've been wanting to get in here for years."

The figure was still dressed as 1 of the Hogwarts professors, however they wore a stylized cat mask that hid most of their face.

Reaching the statue of Salasar Slytherin the figure paused. Wasn't there supposed to be a body here? Where was Ginevra Weasley? Her body was the perfect vessel for her rebirth. Come to think of it, why was the entrance open anyway?

As if an answer to that silent question the door at the other end of the chamber slammed shut. The figure spung toward the closed door. A spell ready at the tip of their wand.

"Well, it seems old Albus was right on the money as the Americans say."

The figure turned toward the voice and saw Harry Potter standing there.

Somehow Potter looked different. More self-assured, more confident.

"Is it you I have to thank for allowing me into this chamber Mr. Potter?" The mask altered her voice. Hopefully he wouldn't know who he was facing.

Harry snorted. "You might as well take off that mask Minerva McGonagall. I mean if you wanted to hide your identity, it might be a good idea to not use a cat mask?"

Minerva McGonagall removed her mask and scowled at Potter. "How did you know? Others have seen my mask, and yet not made the connection to my animagus form."

Potter nodded. "It helped that we already suspected you. I mean come on. In 1991 you sent 4 first years into the forbidden forest. A place the headmaster warns is off limits at the start of every year.

In 1992 I learned you were the most vocal about the chamber not existing. This despite the fact that every founder was known to build a hidden location in Hogwarts.

Also let's not forget who gains the most with Albus Dumbledore stretched so thin. After all, anything that he couldn't get done before having to chair a Wizengamot meeting, or answer questions from the ICW would fall on your shoulders. This would allow you to make any changes you wanted to the school, and no one would be the wiser."

McGonagall scowled. "And you think I would have the time to do all this, and teach my classes, and look after the Gryffindors?"

Harry shrugged. "From what I have been able to gather, you spend next to no time with the Gryffindor lions. The only time any of them see you is at meals, when any of them are in your class, or when 1 of them requires punishment. So yes, I believe you would have the time to do this."

McGonagall let off a cackle. "And knowing all this, you decided to trap yourself down here with me Mr. Potter?"

Harry shrugged. "One of us is not leaving here alive Dark lord McGonagall."

McGonagall laughed. How could this child hope to compete against her? She was more powerful than Riddle. Thanks to his old age she was now more powerful than that old fool Dumbledore. This child with only 4 and a half years of instruction would be what the muggles called a cake walk.

Raising her wand, McGonagall transfigured 1 of the statues into a wolf to charge Potter. At least she tried to transfigure the statue. For some reason her spell failed. Frowning she tried again.

"Something wrong Professor" Potter asked. Looking closer, 1 would see a slight smirk on his face.

"What is going on" she asked as she tried transfiguring a different statue.

"It's simple really" Harry answered. "I placed a barrier around every statue in the chamber. You won't be using transfiguration to win this fight."

McGonagall frowned. "But how? There is no such barrier in magic."

Harry smirked. "You mean you haven't figured it out yet? I was disappointed that Albus didn't discover my secret with how often little clues were left behind. However, I could chalk that up to him being busy, and not really having a reason to go looking for it. You on the other hand had multiple classes with me and had a very good reason to figure out if I was hiding anything. The fact you didn't makes me wonder how bad of a dark lord you really are."

McGonagall hissed and waving her wand sent a bone shatterer at Potter. Th her surprise the spell vanished just before hitting him.

"Maybe this will finally clue you in, SOLAR BEAM!"

McGonagall had no time to react before a beam of white light leapt from Potter's hand and slammed into her chest. A beam of light? "No, you can't be."

Potter just grinned. "I am Solar" he said. Before drawing a sword from a sheath on his hip.

McGonagall snarled. "You think this will save you from me? I am the dark lord Magicongal."

Harry thought about that for less than 3 seconds, before he cracked up laughing.

Apparently, McGonagall didn't appreciate Potter's laughter. She transformed herself into her animagus form. Except for a small house cat, she took the form of a lion, ready to tear potter apart.

Potter laughed. "You think that will be enough to take me down?"

As lion McGonagall charged Potter vanished from where he had been standing and appeared right behind the charging lion. With 1 swift strike she was sent flying into the wall with a sickening crunch. McGonagall returned to her human form.

"Cough what was that?"

Potter shrugged. "I told you I'm Solar" Potter answered. "This means even in my civilian identity I have access to half of all my elemental abilities."

McGonagall coughed again. "Did I have any chance?"

There was a snap his as a saber materialized in Potter's hand. "No" he answered. "No, you didn't."

Albus was just finishing up his paperwork when he heard a knock at his door. Sitting up strait he called "come in!"

Harry Potter walked into the office teers streaming down his face. Without a word he handed over a folder.

Bracing himself Albus opened the folder and glanced at the pictures within. They showed young harry trying to rescue deer Minerva from a woman wearing almost nothing except a cat mask. Albus watched as the fight shifted from 1 advantage to another. Sometimes Harry would have the upper hand. At others the masked individual would have Harry at her mercy, only for Minerva to use transfiguration to get him out of the situation. At last Harry lay gasping on the floor, and the masked figure was opening a portal ready to shove Harry through it. Without warning Minerva surged to her feet and tackled the figure backward through the portal. The portal closed right afterward leaving a sobbing Harry Potter on the floor.

Albus looked up in surprise. "What is this young Harry?"

Harry Potter straightened. Those are pictures to show the press to explain why Minerva McGonagall, Deputy head mistress, head of the house of Gryffindor, and teacher of transfiguration is no longer around. I thought this would be far preferable to everyone learning that she has been a dark lord for years now.

Albus nodded. "Then what really happened to her?"

Harry's shoulders slumped. "I was forced to kill her down in the chamber of secrets when she tried to kill me."

Albus nodded again. "I agree with you Harry. Mutch better to let everyone thing she disappeared trying to protect 1 of her students."

Harry nodded. "I'll leave the details to you if that's ok headmaster."

Albus rose from his desk and pulled Harry into a hug. "Leave it with me Harry. You go and get some rest."

Nodding Harry turned and walked out of the office. All he wanted was to be held by his wife.

An: and that's it. Yes Minerva McGonagall was the dark lord of the prophecy. I have been wanting to do this ever since I saw how uncaring she was for Harry's well being.

The first time this happened in cannon was when Harry flew a broom on his own to rescue Neville's rmemberall. We know she saw Hary fly. We know she saw him almost crash during the catch, and yet she places him on the quidditch team. Even though she knew he would know nothing of the wizarding world, and that includes quidditch.

The second time is the trek into the forbidden forest mentioned in this chapter. I mean she sent 2 pure bloods, 1 half blood, and 1 muggleborn into a place the headmaster warned everyone away from.

Not to mention despite being Harry's head of house in cannon, she never stands up for him against anything, or anyone.

This is perfectly displayed in second year when Harry is accused of being the heir of Slytherin.

This continues in fourth year. I mean there was nothing preventing any of the teachers from seeing what the badges said, and yet not 1 of them told people to take them off? McGonagall should have at the very least made sure that they didn't bother Harry, but she did nothing for him all year.

Finally there is Fith year. Harry goes to McGonagall after his first detention, and she glows him off. I mean keep your head down! What did she think it would do? Because of this Dolores Umbridge had access to his blood. Harry is very lucky Dolores did not decide to do anything with the blood she stole. After all we saw what Voldemort and Pettigrew were able to do with the blood they took from Harry in the graveyard.

So yes I decided to make McGonagall the dark lord of the prophecy.

Just the epilog to go, witch I am in the prosess of writing the day I upload this chapter, and I will have that up next week. So thank you all for reading, and I will see you all next time.
