In S2E29, Trigger Point, Lottie is about to give up, not just on crossing the desert but life itself. Jess encourages her, telling her that he cared, cared a lot. Lottie finds her strength and finishes their journey. Then changes her ticket to settle in Laramie. We never see her again, but this is what I imagine might have happened.
