In this store, Joe attempts to fit in and find new love in the city of Spokane, Washington where he pretends to be a leader for an office. His only problem is that the girl he's falling for is already taken.

Paco steers clear of book stores these days, which puzzles his mother a lot. After coming to California, the last book he had brought had been carefully stored away under his floorboards. The book the Guinevere Beck wrote. The book about the girl who he had left to die in that basement.
