Lighty est une nouvelle employée au service de la maisonnée Stamford. Elle a, pour tâche, de s'occuper des cents lubbies de sa maîtresse qui se montre aussi curieuse que rafraîchissante. Avec ses nombreux amis issus de la guerre, elle peut parfois se montrer rude mais sans jamais être désagréable. Elle est magnifique; charmante. Et c'est bien à ses dépens que Lighty le découvrira.

Chesterfield avait eu bien des occasions pour se confesser à un certain caporal mais jamais elles n'avaient abouties. Trop peureux pour le lui dire en face, il prend la décision d'écrire à Blutch mais est-ce là la bonne solution ? Ce jeu du chat et de la souris ne risque-t-il pas de dégénérer ?

On ne sait pas trop ce qui se passe entre Blutch et Chesterfield... Ils s'évitent, baissent le regard en se rencontrant, sont séparés depuis plus de deux mois... On n'a encore jamais vu ça, et Tripps et Bryan s'inquiètent. Ils demandent un peu d'aide à Plume d'Argent qui reviendra vers eux et leur dira: "Moi avoir fait ce que moi pouvoir faire." Vraiment, rien n'est sûr avec eux...

Simple question qui se termine par une rixe plutôt inattendue... Blutch fait ensuite la gueule à Chesterfield qui tente bien de recoller les morceaux malgré tout. Puis, de fil en aiguille, tout va s'arranger. Bizarrement, bien sûr - comme d'habitude avec ces deux-là -, mais on sait bien que les opposés s'attirent et que serait l'armée nordiste sans ses deux perturbateurs ?

Mavis rend visite à son petit-frère; Stephen Stilman. Inquiet pour elle dans un environnement rempli d'hommes, il l'enferme dans une petite maison à l'abri du sexe opposé. Le sergent Chesterfield est séparé de Blutch depuis plus de deux semaines. Le temps de l'absence lui pèse, surtout qu'il est bloqué dans les tranchées texanes. Heureusement, il est muté et revient au camp d'Alexander où il va revoir le caporal, coincé au trou pour tentative de désertion.

Il faut remettre les horloges à l'heure ! Amélie Appletown a bien l'intention d'échapper à son père et de commencer à voler de ses propres ailes ! Mavis, une des soeurs du capitaine Stilman, lui a soufflé l'idée de s'engager dans le conflit en tant qu'infirmière au vu de son savoir médical. Eh bien soit ! Elle relève le défi car les femmes doivent impérativement se soulever !
