A priestess decides to draw demon Dean out by purifying and turning to human scores of demons—enraging Crowley. When Dean hears of this from Crowley he decides it would be an excellent place to check out.

Cas is angry at Dean because he had given up on Jack, Dean is mad because Cas hadn't told them about Jack losing his soul, causing Mary to be killed. They make up at the end. Castiel gets a call from Dean, and arrives to find the hunter dead on the floor. Unable to heal him, Cas is left with the knowledge that Dean died without ever knowing just how much his angel loved him. He has no idea that it may not be too late after all.
