Set a few months after the season finale of season 8, Dean is on his own after Sam has run out on him, but a human Cas soon comes along and brings everything together again. Cas is suffering from human emotions, mainly focused on Dean, Sam isn't getting any better from attempting to finish the demon trials, and Dean works hard to keep everything functioning.

You're obviously going through a very late gay phase. It'll pass..." Eventually.
