Ch1 - Not Another Ball!

My name is Emma Charming, I'm the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming; and I've been attending balls, for as long as I can remember. This one however, is slightly different; I'm meeting potential suitors tonight.

My parents have reassured me, that I don't have to chose someone right away; I can have time to decide, but there's one problem, I want adventure, I want excitement, I want to be free.

My parents want me to be happy, and they want me to find what they have; since they have true love, they think I'll find it too.

They have always encouraged me, to be my own person, and to find my own happiness; I sighed, as I looked at myself in the mirror in a, what I can only describe as a poofy princess dress.

This isn't me, I only wear the dresses; to make my mother happy, I usually dress in a similar way to my father. I smoothed out my dress, as I made my way to my door; I opened it, only to be greeted by my godmother.

I spoke.

"Red, are my parents in the ballroom?"

Red nodded, before answering.

"Yes, and they are waiting for you...as are all your guests"

I sighed, as I spoke again.

"Sorry, I just needed a minute; mother knows, I don't like dresses, it's just not me"

Red laughed, as she spoke.

"You really are your fathers, daughter"

I laughed, as she led me to the ballroom; I heard the guards announce me, as the doors opened. Everyone's eyes fell to me, as I walked through the crowd; the men bowed their heads, as the women curtsied.

Red nudged me, as we neared my parents; my mother smiled softly, as my father spoke.

"Emma..."

I sighed softly, as I spoke.

"I'm sorry, I lost track of time; but you know me father, I don't particularly like dresses"

My father laughed softly, as my mother grinned; she spoke softly.

"My dear, you might not like them; but as a princess, you must wear them"

I nodded, as I took my place beside them; as a few of the men, lined up to speak to us. I tried not to sigh, as Sir's Graham, August and Walsh bowed; they spoke to my parents first, before speaking to me.

Sir Graham spoke.

"Princess Emma, I believe you and I; are to share a dance later on this evening?"

I nodded, before speaking.

"Yes, Sir Graham; I look forward to it"

Sir August spoke.

"Your highness, if it's not too much trouble; may I dance with you, after you've danced with Sir Graham?"

I smiled, before nodding; I spoke.

"That would be, no trouble at all; Sir August"

Sir Walsh, kept his gaze on mine; as he spoke.

"Your highness, I was hoping; I could share your first dance of the evening?"

I looked at Sir Walsh, before looking at my parents; my mother nodded, I faced Sir Walsh. I spoke.

"I would like that"

Sir Walsh looked at my parents, as he spoke.

"Your Majesties"

My parents nodded, as Sir Walsh led me to the floor; I kept my gaze on Sir Walsh, as he led me in a slow waltz. I could feel everyone's eyes on me, as we continued to dance; I could see familiar faces in the crowd, as well as some new faces.

The man with dark hair and blue eyes, caught my attention; as I'd never seen him before, I tried to keep my eyes on him. Sir Walsh thanked me, before bowing; I smiled, as I knew it was over.

I thanked him, before making my way back to my parents, my mother spoke.

"Well done Emma, that's one dance over with; you only have two more, and then you can do as you please for the rest of the evening"

I smiled, before thanking my mother; my father smiled, as Sir Graham asked me to dance. I allowed him to take my hand, as we made our way onto the floor. The music started up, as I was led in another waltz; I scanned the crowd, only to find the stranger was now in the front row of people; who were watching us, his gaze never left mine.

Sir Graham, thanked me; he bowed his head slightly, before whispering.

"Shall I, find Sir August?"

I nodded, before thanking him; when he was gone, I found myself staring at the dark haired stranger again. Who was he? What kingdom did he hail from? Why hadn't I seen him before? I watched him, before Sir August spoke.

"Princess Emma, shall we?"

I nodded, as the music played once more; I let Sir August lead me across the floor, I heard people talking in hushed tones. Sir August spoke softly.

"I see, someone else; has their eyes on you Princess"

I smiled softly, as I spoke.

"I have no idea, what you mean; Sir August"

Sir August, smiled; before slowing down, as the music slowed. He bowed, before thanking me; I thanked him, as I made my way back to my parents. My mother spoke.

"I see, someone else; captured your attention dear"

I nodded, before speaking.

"Sorry mother, it's just; I've never seen him before, and you know me, I'm very good with faces"

My mother spoke softly.

"That you are, my child; that you are. If you want, you can talk to him; I'll try to keep your father occupied"

I smiled, before thanking her; she smiled, before encouraging me to find the stranger. I made my way through the crowd, smiling and greeting people as I passed by them; after a few moments of searching, I found him.

I watched, as he spoke to another man; I have never seen before, I moved to walk away. As I didn't want to interrupt their conversation; as I turned to walk away, the other man spoke.

"Captain, you seem to have an admirer"

Captain? Is he a captain, from a neighbouring kingdom? I watched, as the Captain looked at me; his gaze, piercing mine.

He spoke, bowing his head; as he did.

"Your highness"

I couldn't think, as his accent; did something do me, that I couldn't quite explain. I felt my cheeks heat up, as I tried to form the words.

I eventually found my voice.

"Captain, thank you for coming this evening"

He looked at me, as he spoke again.

"The pleasure, is all mine; Princess..."

I spoke.

"Emma"

The Captain smiled, as he spoke again.

"Princess Emma"

I figured since, he knew my name; I should know his.

"And you Captain, what is your name?"

He looked at me, his gaze never leaving mine; as he answered.

"Captain Killian Jones, your highness"

I smiled, before speaking.

"Well, thank you Captain Jones; I hope this evening, was to your standard"

He nodded, before speaking.

"Yes, your highness; although, I must admit...there's something I wanted to do, before I left..."

I silently encouraged him, to continue.

"And what would that be, Captain?"

He smiled, before continuing.

"I was wondering, if the Princess; would like to dance?"

I smiled, before answering.

"I would be honoured, Captain"

He offered his hand, and I gladly accepted it; he led me to the middle of the floor, as the music began. It started slow, before building; as the music dwindled, the Captain twirled me slowly, before coming to a halt.

He thanked me, before bowing; I curtsied, as he placed a kiss on the back of my hand. I heard some murmuring in the crowd, as he slowly backed off; before disappearing into the crowd.

I tried to keep my gaze on him, but failed; as he was gone, I tried to remember what just happened. I made my way back to my parents, my mother was smiling; I spoke.

"Is everything, alright mother?"

My mother nodded, before speaking.

"Everything is fine, my dear; but you definitely made an impression, as did that man you just danced with. Did he say, who he was?"

I smiled, as I nodded; I spoke.

"Yes he did, his name is; Captain Killian Jones"

My mother nodded, as she repeated his name.

"Captain Jones...he must be from a neighbouring kingdom"

I nodded, as my father looked at me; he spoke.

"What are my two favourite people, talking about?"

My mother spoke.

"Our daughter, just danced with a captain"

My father nodded, before asking his name.

"Captain Killian Jones, father"

My father, spoke.

"Hmm...I've never heard of him, he must be from another kingdom"

I nodded, before asking to be excused; my mother nodded, as my father kissed my cheek. I spoke again.

"Would it be, alright; if I went into the village?"

My parents nodded, as they knew I would be careful; I curtsied to them, before leaving. I made my way to my room, determined to get out of this dress; and into something more comfortable.

I got undressed, before changing into something more me; when I was satisfied with how I looked, I grabbed my cloak, before making my way to the village.

I took a shortcut, past the tavern; I was about to turn the corner, when I heard a familiar voice. I glanced up, before gasping softly; it was Captain Jones.

What was he doing here? I noticed, he was dressed differently; he was head to toe, in leather. I heard someone speak to him.

"Will you be staying, long; Hook?"

He's Captain Hook? So that means he's a pirate, I guess; that would explain why he attended our ball...
