Chapter 1-Life truly begins

The day Octavia is born

Kane's P.O.V

Kane ran through the Ark until he reached the Griffin's apartment. He pounds on the door. A couple of seconds later, Abby Griffin pulls the door open. "What is it, Marcus?"

"I need your help, please," Kane says as Jake walks up to the door. "You'll need towels and whatever medical supplies you have here, Abby. I need your help."

"Alright," Abby says as she quickly goes back into the apartment. She comes out a few moments later and follows Kane through the Ark until they reach the Blake apartment. Abby, Kane, and Jake step into the apartment as Aurora Blake gives birth. Beside her sits her son Bellamy Blake.

"Help her," Kane says to Abby, who slowly nods.

Jake stood outside of the apartment, watching for guards. He looked at the door as it opened, and Kane walked out. "You're breaking the law, Marcus."

"I know," Kane says. "Am I going to be floated for it?"

"No, of course not," Jake says. "I would do anything to protect my daughter. I understand why you are doing what you are doing."

Kane nods as Abby comes out. "You can go see your daughter, Marcus," Abby says.

Kane smiles as he walks into the apartment. "We keep this quiet until the day we die," Jake says to his wife, who nods.

Jake's P.O.V

16 years later

Jake sat in his office looking at the reports he just got back from Raven Reyes. "Bad?" Jake looks up at Kane as he stands at the door. The two had become close friends after Octavia was born.

"The Oxygen systems are failing," Jake says.

"It's probably just a glitch," Kane says, and Jake shakes his head.

"This isn't a glitch, Marcus. We'll be out of oxygen in a year, maybe two," Jake says. "I'm going to tell Abby, and then the council. We need to tell the people."

"Jake, you know Jaha won't do that. He will float you."

"That's why I asked you here, Marcus. I need your help," Jake says. "I need to make sure I don't die."

"How do you plan on doing that?" Kane asks Jake as he closes the door.

"Simple, I'm going to the ground, and I'll need your help."

"How would you even do this?" Kane asks him.

"There's a ship in Mecha station. It needs to be fixed, I have someone to fix it, and they'll have to come with me, but I can do this. I've kept your secret for sixteen years. Now I'm asking you to return the favor."

"Alright, who do you have to fix this ship? I also want to see it,"

"Alright," Jake says as he opens the door. "Raven, come in here."

Raven Reyes walks into the office and looks at the two men as Kane shuts the door. Jake hands Raven the report. After reading it, Raven looks at Jake and Kane. "How do we fix it?" Raven asks.

"We can't, Raven. This isn't a glitch. It's a system failure. We have a year, maybe two years left of oxygen," Jake tells Raven.

"Why are you telling me this?" Raven asks.

"Because he is planning on doing something stupid, Raven, and he's gonna need an escape plan," Kane tells her.

"Follow us, Raven," Jake says as he opens the door and leaves with Kane. Raven follows the two men as they walk through the Ark. They arrive at Mecha station. Jake walks up to the ship and pulls the tarp down. "I need you to fix this."

"They must have found this thing when they salvaged Mir-3 in 2102. You want me to get a 130-year-old escape pod ready to stand up to the inferno of re-entry in how long?" Raven asks.

"How long will it take?" Kane asks.

"9 days at least," Raven says. "Why?"

"Because if they arrest me, Raven. My only option is the ground," Jake says. "I need you to realize what I'm asking you, Raven. If you do this, you'll be a criminal. You'll have to come with me," Jake tells Raven.

Raven stays silent for a moment before she nods. "Alright, I'm in," Raven says. "They'll float my boyfriend anyways, might as well see the ground. But why do you need him?" Raven asks as she looks at Kane.

"Because he can get you any part you need, and if I am arrested, Kane can make sure I get out; he has friends in lockup," Jake tells Raven, who nods.

"How many people could get down in this pod?" Kane asks Raven.

"Safety, 2, with a little bit more risk, 4," Raven answers. "You planning on coming?"

"No," Kane answers as he looks at Jake, who nods, and Kane smiles. "Tell me what you need when you need it," Kane tells Raven, who nods as he leaves.

One week later

Kane knocked on the door of Thelonious Jaha, the Chancellor of the Ark. The door opened, and Jaha looked at him. "What can I do for you, Marcus?" Jaha asks.

"I just heard that Jake Griffin was arrested," Kane says, and Jaha nods. "When do you float him?"

"Tomorrow."

"I must advice against that, sir," Kane says. "Jake has a lot of knowledge. We need to know everything he knows about the Oxygen failure before he is floated. I suggest that we keep him alive for a few more days, sir, four at most, and keep him in lockup."

Jaha stays silent before he nods. "As long as Jake will talk with Sinclair and you, you will get those extra days," Jaha says. "Good idea, Marcus."

"Thank you, sir," Kane says before he leaves.

Octavia's P.O.V

Octavia Blake sat under the floor as she heard the door open. "It's alright, let her out," Kane says from above them. The panel is pulled away, and Octavia climbs out.

"Dad," Octavia says with a smile before she hugs him. Kane kisses her head.

"Jake?" Aurora asks.

"He's been arrested, but I was about to convince Jaha to give him a few more days, so we could pick his brain. By then, Raven will have the pod ready."

"What pod?" Octavia asks.

"How long until Bellamy gets back?" Kane asks.

"An hour, but shouldn't we tell him?"

"Not yet, not until after. He might overreact or say something by accident."

"What are you guys talking about?" Octavia growls.

"The plan was for Jake to get arrested," Kane tells her.

"He'll get floated."

"No, he won't, Jake is going to the ground, Octavia, with a woman named Raven Reyes, and we want you to go with them."

Jake's P.O.V

Jake is led into the visitor room and sits down in front of Kane. "I just spoke with Raven. She'll have the pod ready in two days."

"Tell Raven four people need to be in that pod."

"Jake, three people is risky. Who the hell else?"

"Clarke, she heard the conversation, Kane. Jaha will lock her up. You're doing what you have to protect, Octavia. I'm doing the same for my daughter. Raven said it is possible to figure out how," Jake growls.

"Alright, I'll talk with Raven."

Raven's P.O.V

Raven was working on the pod when the door opened, and Kane walked in. "What did Jake say?"

"How big of a risk would it be to send four people down?" Kane asks Raven.

"If everything goes right, they'll have a couple of bruises, some blood, but that will be the worst of it. If something goes wrong, they could cut themselves deeply or hit their heads against the metal, I could reinforce it the best I can, but I can't guarantee anyone's safety."

"What do you need to make it as safe as possible."

"Something to pad the ceilings, like pillows, and a pressure regulator."

"I can get you those. The other person is Clarke," Kane says

"Okay," Raven says as Kane leaves.

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke Griffin sat in her room watching the video that her father had made. She looked at the door as it opened and saw Kane. "How did you get in here?"

"Your Mom let me in before she left," Kane says. "Clarke, Jake isn't going to be floated."

"You talked Jaha out of it?" Clarke asks.

"No, your Dad is going to the ground with Raven Reyes and my daughter, Octavia Blake. Jake wants you to go with them."

"We'll die."

"Maybe, or you live. Regardless, Jake will die, and so will my daughter."

"I never knew you had a daughter," Clarke says.

"Only Abby and Jake did. You can't ever tell anybody because I'll die, and her mother will die. Clarke, if you don't do this, Jaha will lock you up."

"When do we leave?"

"In two days," Kane tells her.

"Alright, I'm in."

Jake's P.O.V

Two days later

Jake woke up on the morning. He would be going to the ground when a guard opened his door. "You have a visitor," Jake nods as he stands up and follows the guard into the visitor room. He stops when he sees his wife sitting in the chair. Jake sits down across from his wife.

"Jake, I'm so sorry," Abby says with tears in her eyes.

"It's okay," Jake says as he takes her hand. "You were only doing what you thought was right. How is Clarke?"

"Angry, Sad, blaming Wells for what I did," Abby says. "I'm trying to talk Jaha into pardoning you, but he won't."

"Stop, Abby. You could get yourself in trouble, and Clarke needs you. You take care of her, and I love you; I will always love you," Jake says as tears go down his eyes. Abby nods as she kisses his hand.

Kane's P.O.V

Kane walks into the Blake apartment that night. He stops when he sees Bellamy Blake. "I told him. He deserves to say goodbye to his sister," Aurora tells him. Kane nods.

"We have to leave. Jake will be leaving his cell soon," Kane says. Bellamy nods as he hugs Octavia.

"Stay strong, Octavia. I know you're going to survive, you are so strong, and I love you so much," Bellamy says to her.

"I love you, Big Brother," Octavia says as he lets her go. Aurora bends down and hugs her daughter.

"You listen to everything Jake says. You have a life down there, Octavia, and someday we will join you."

Octavia looks at her. "What are you talking about?"

Kane sighs. "There is a mission being made; in a year, the council will send the prisoners in the skybox to the ground. When that ship goes down, we'll be on it," Kane explains. "I'll explain more later," Kane tells Bellamy, who nods.

"You have to go," Aurora says as she kisses Octavia's head. "I love you."

"I love you," Octavia says before she leaves with Kane.

Jake's P.O.V

Jake sat in his cell and stood up when the door opened. He looks at the guard, who nods. "You'll get your credits in the morning," Jake tells the guard, who nods as he leads Jake out of the skybox. Once Jake was out of the skybox, He slowly went through the halls until he reached Mecha station, where Kane was waiting for him outside the door with Octavia.

"Good, you're here," Kane says before he looks at Octavia. "I will see you in a year. The day you were born was the best day of my life, and the day my life truly began. You are the light inside of me, and I love you so much."

"I love you too, Dad," Octavia says with tears in her eyes as she hugs him. Kane lets her go and holds his hand out to Jake, who shakes it.

"Take care of her."

"I will; I'll protect her like she is my own," Jake says as the alarms go off. "We have to go."

Kane nods as they go into the room. They get to the pod where Raven and Clarke are waiting. "Good time to go," Raven says as she climbs in. "Clarke, come here," Raven says, and Clarke slowly climbs into the pod and sits on Raven's lap. She nods to Jake, who climbs in and helps Octavia in. "We drop in three...two...one," Raven says as they fall out of the Ark and towards Ark.

Kane's P.O.V

Kane runs into the control room and sees Abby and Thelonious Jaha, the Chancellor standing around the panel. "A ship dropped," Jaha says.

"What?" Kane asks.

"Sir, I have camera footage," Jacapo Sinclair says.

"Pull it up," Jaha says. Sinclair nods as they watch the footage of Clarke, Raven, Jake, and Octavia climbing into the pod and dropping. Abby stared at Kane for a second before looking at Jaha. "Who is that girl?"

"I don't know, sir," Sinclair says.

Jaha stays silent for a moment. "We tell the people that Raven Reyes, Jake Griffin, and Clarke Griffin were floated."

"You'll be floating a sixteen-year-old," Kane says.

"I'm aware, but they can't know that they want to the ground, understood?" Jaha growls. "Good, Kane. Find out how the hell this happened."

"Yes, sir," Kane says before he leaves as Abby watches him.

Jake's P.O.V

Jake opened his eyes slowly and looked around. The pod was still closed. He looked at Octavia and saw she had a little bit of blood on her head. "Guys wake up," Jake says as he shakes the girls, who slowly opens his eyes. "Everybody okay?"

"No, my head hurts," Octavia says.

"We're fine," Clarke says with a smirk. "Open the door."

Jake nods as he pushes the door. The sunlight streams in, and Octavia steps out of the pod, followed by the other three, who all grin as they stare at the trees and the grace. "We're back bitches!" Octavia shouts.

Thanks for reading. Obviously, this is a redo of Earth Bound, but it is already very different. Instead of doing a new story, I reread this and realized how great of an idea this was, but I executed it wrong. I have so many new ideas, and I'm really excited to show them. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
