Sighing for the third time Amelia looks at the uniform in front of her. She lays the uniform across the back of the kitchen chair while she picks up the dreadfully thin case file again.

Over the last year, four girls have gone missing from Holo academy for girls, an exclusive all girls boarding school. The the official story from the police investigation has ruled them unrelated runaways.

If it were just one or two then maybe Amelia would agree. "But four is too many to be a coincidence." Amelia is brought out of her thoughts by the sound of the phone ringing. She takes a quick glance at her pocket watch as she picks it up. "Enma, right on time as usual."

"Of course." The woman on the other end replies dryly. "The paperwork is more or less finished. Last chance to back out detective. Are you sure you're ready to go back to school?"

Chuckling Ame looks down at her pocket watch. It was a gift from her grandfather, he always said it was lucky. Lucky but non functional in the traditional sense at least It reads one-fifteen as expected. While beautiful in design it's gears haven't moved in far too long. "Please, I finished high school when I was ten years old."

"Entirely home schooled. A GED is only the academic portion. For this investigation you're going to have to interact socially to accomplish anything. Are you certain you're up to the task?"

"Don't be dramatic Enma." Amelia chuckles looking at the case file again. "They're just a bunch of rich girls. What's the worst that could happen?"

When Amelia arrives at the campus it's on a chilly autumn day. She adjusts the Holo Academy winter uniform, a simple blazer with the academy crest on it along with a pressed shirt and pants. The tie was optional but Amelia had always been a fan of ties. A chilly breeze makes her regret not also wearing the sweater she was given with the name of the school mascot 'The Yagoo's'.

First impressions of the school grounds are certainly impressive. A massive campus spread over almost 25 acres of land hosting many specialized buildings and facilities, the observatory and Massive clock tower near the center of campus stand out to Amelia as especially rare for such schools.

With the closest town being quite a drive away she supposes that the intention is for students to rarely leave during their stay.

Amelia is still looking over the campus map when a cold feeling on the back of her neck alerts her that she's being watched. She turns to see a slightly taller girl with straight violet hair wearing the school uniform along with a black beret. She has a messenger bag on her shoulder and a stuffed looking manilla folder under her other arm. Amelia tries a friendly smile, but something about the girl seems off. "Um, hello. Can I help you?"

The stranger chuckles and smiles back at Ame, approaching her. "Hmu, That's my line. You must be the new student. Amelia Watson right?"

Raising an eyebrow Amelia nods. "Riiight. So you must be?"

"Ah! Sorry I forgot to introduce myself." The girl covers her mouth in apparent embarrassment. "I am interim class president Ninomae Ina'nis at your service. But everyone just calls me Ina." She says with a slight bow. "I actually just finished putting together your new student packet." Ina pulls the folder from under her arm and hands it to Amelia. "If you'd like I can also show you to the dorm?"

While Amelia had planned on looking around the campus herself, the opportunity to get to know the person in charge of campus could be useful. "It's nice to meet you and that sounds great. Thanks for your help!"

Ina motions for Amelia to follow her and the two begin walking down the well maintained walkway. Ina gestures to the side. "This is the east lawn. Although I'm sure you figured that out from your map. A Lot of students use this area for study or picnics. On the other side of the council building is the west lawn which is a lot of the same but we also sometimes have outdoor assemblies there on good days."

Gazing out at the lawn Amelia does note several girls laid out with textbooks and blankets. One girl stands out wearing a black sweatshirt with long pink hair. She leans against a tree strumming a guitar to herself. The somber melody carries enough on the wind to draw their attention but after a moment Amelia turns to respond. "It seems nice, although I tend to prefer studying indoors myself."

Nodding Ina takes Amelia down another path passing by a large greenhouse. "Hmu, hmu. I find that the library here is an excellent place to study. There's always a couple of empty tables on the upper floor but if you schedule ahead you can also book a private room there if you'd like." Slowing to a stop Ina gestures to a large victorian styled building made of pale bricks with light blue roofing. "And this will be your dormitory while you're here. There's a full list of dorm rules in your orientation packet as well as your room number and key. Do you have any questions that I can answer while I'm here?"

"Actually I do. Amelia thinks of the one thing she noticed when they started talking. "Just curious, earlier you mentioned that you're the interim student council president. How does that work?

Ina ponders for a moment before answering, perhaps not expecting a question about her own position. Again Amelia feels the hair on the back of her neck stand up as though something else is watching them even though it's just the two of them standing here. "I did mention that, didn't I?" For just a moment her voice trails off. Her eyes drift to the right as if looking at something only she can see. Then suddenly her attention snaps back to Amelia, her expression shifting back to normal. "Anyway, to answer your question, normally I only serve the school as the leader of the disciplinary committee, however the student council as well as president Balez are currently off campus and selected me to handle things while they're gone."

Amelia raises an eyebrow, "This school has a disciplinary committee?"

"Oh it sounds intimidating but it's more of a ceremonial title than anything" Ina gives a smile that for some reason doesn't quite reach her eyes. Despite her pleasant tone, something about her puts Amelia on edge. "While there are always a few incidents, our students are very well behaved here. As long as you follow the rules I'm sure we won't have any issues."

"Uh sure thing then. I'll be on my best behavior."

Ina nods as she adjusts her bag. "I'm sure. Now I really should be going. I know that you'll fit right in here at Holo academy. Have a good day Ms. Watson." With that Ina gives a small bow and walks away.

Out of habit Ame checks her watch, still one-fifteen. "Whelp, since I'm here I might as well get unpacked."

Amelia looks up at the room "This is it nine thirteen." Before she can even put the key into the lock the door swings open and she has just enough time to step back as a blur with white hair charges out, nearly knocking her over. "Hey, watch it!"

"Hey stinky don't tell me to watch it! You're the one standing in front of my door! What's the big idea anyway?" It's with surprise that Amelia realizes she's looking down at someone. The short girl snarling at her has shoulder length white hair with dyed blue streaks in it. She wears a letterman jacket over her uniform, with a patch marking her as a member of the waterpolo team. It's the eyes of the girl that cause Amelia to take a step back. It could be a trick of the light but they almost look crimson. Her expression is vicious with her mouth pulled into a snarl. Warily Amelia finds her hand drifting towards the stop watch in her pocket.

"Hold on a second, I'm new here, the interim student president just gave me papers saying that this is where my room is." Amelia looks down at her orientation papers again and back up through the open door. The room is half-decorated with two beds leaving only the most unfortunate deduction. "Actually I'm pretty sure it's our room now."

"What?" The girl snatches the papers from Amelia's hands while growling. "I can't believe this!" She shoves the papers back at Amelia while storming off towards the exit. "Don't touch any of my stuff. I need to have a word with a certain squid." As she stalks off, the hallway lights reflect on her hair, somehow making the blue streaks appear almost red for a moment.

Before Amelia can even question the strange girl she's out of sight. "Rude." Still might as well take a look at where she'll be staying for the duration of this case. Stepping inside the room is smaller than any room Amelia has slept in before. It has two beds, a desk, and a shared mini bathroom holding only a sink and toilet without room for much else. Ame places her bag on the bed of the empty side of the room and figures now is as good of a time as any to do some snooping on her apparent roomate. Polite or not until the case is solved anyone could be a suspect and no information is worth ignoring.

The most notable feature is the large fish tank that takes up most of the space on the mystery girl's desk. Inside swims what looks to be a small dwarf shark of some species that Amelia can't place. The bed is unmade with a blue comforter tossed haphazardly over it. Next to that There's a small night stand with a trophy for first in girls freestyle swimming. The name engraved on it is Gawr Gura.

With a sigh Amelia falls back on her own bed already feeling the future headache. It doesn't take a detective to deduce that her roommate is most likely a rude, messy, jock. Typical Watson luck. Maybe Enma was right.

Amelia is just finishing her unpacking when Gura walks back into the room. She thankfully looks less angry than when she left, instead just looking exhausted. Her jacket hangs loosely over her shoulder and there's some notable bruising on her cheek that wasn't there before. Eyes narrowing Amelia also notes the cracked and raw skin on Gura's knuckles. Without even slowing to look at her Gura flops onto her bed not even bothering to take off her shoes.

"Are you okay?"

Still face down in her comforter Gura lazily raises a hand and mumbles out a response. "Apparently until the council get's back Ina's word is law. So we're gonna be roomies until then. I'm Gura and that's Bloop." Her hand gestures to point at the fish tank.

Rolling her eyes Amelia straightens the sheets on her bed. "That's fine with me. I'm Amelia by the way." When her only response is the sound of snoring Amelia rolls her eyes and decides she might as well get some rest.

"Hey Ame, wake up." To her surprise Amelia is woken from her sleep by a hand shaking her rather than her alarm. She looks up to see her new roommate standing over her dressed in a bathrobe with a bag of toiletries under one arm. "Hey there we go. Sorry to wake ya, but since you're new I figured I should give you a warning. The showers on this floor get pretty busy if you drag your feet in the morning. I usually take mine now when there's less people."

Blinking the sleep from her eyes, Amelia looks at the bedside table with her alarm and sees that it's almost an hour before she had planned to wake up. Still the idea of a crowded communal shower doesn't appeal to her very much. "Oh, uh thanks. I'll get up in a second."

Nodding Gura takes her hand off and moves towards the door. "Sure thing, and when you get back I can help you find your first class if you want. It's uh, my way of saying sorry for yesterday. I was kinda in a bad mood, and you just sorta appeared for me to take it out on. So uh, sorry." In totally contrast to their meeting the girl looks practically sheepish compared to the snarling creature she met yesterday.

Before Amelia can even reply Gura is out the door. Amelia stares at the door for a few seconds waiting for her brain to wake up enough to consider this sudden change in attitude. Perhaps yesterday was just a bad first impression. Shrugging Amelia gets out of bed and starts gathering her shower things.

After Amelia returns Gura takes a moment to feed Bloop before the two of them head out. Gura pokes Amelia in the side. "Ame, let me see your schedule so I can figure out where we're headed."

Amelia takes a moment to ruffle through her new school bag before producing the schedule Ina gave her and hands it to Gura. "Okay let's see. Huh? What the heck is with this schedule? You're taking Malay, Latin and Jazz band? How did you even fit this many electives in?"

Scratching her chin Amelia takes on an embarrassed grin. "Yeah, it's weird. I guess I was ahead in a lot of the core subjects so I got an easy year?" To be honest Amelia hadn't actually had time to look at the schedule herself. She left the specifics to Enma whom she only asked to make sure her schedule shared as many classes as possible with the missing girls.

"Whatever." Gura rolls her eyes as she looks back to the class list. "Well, it looks like you've got Jazz Band first. Makes it easy though. Actually gimme yer map for a sec."

Stopping at a bench for a moment, Gura takes a highlighter out of her bag and quickly marks the classrooms on the map. "You like pizza right?" Amelia opens her mouth to respond before being cut off, "What am I saying of course you do." She makes another mark on the map. "This is the best pizza spot on campus. If you head there after you're weird Latin class you'll probably be first in line for lunch. Lucky you I guess."

Gura holds out the map with a smile and Amelia realizes what's been bothering her all morning. "Your eyes are blue."

Raising an eyebrow, Gura looks back at her confused. "Uh, yeah, and?"

Shaking herself out of her thoughts for now, Amelia takes back the map with a smile. "Oh nothing, yesterday I just thought they were different. Must have been the light or something. Anyway I better get going to class. Thanks a bunch Gura."

"Uh sure. I'll see you around Watson." Gura replies before walking off to her own class.

Looking at the room Gura marked on her map Amelia decides she's got enough time to take a quick look at the notes left by Enma before going to class. She takes a moment to sit down on an empty bench and pulls out her phone to open up the documents. She had of course read the profiles of the missing girls herself but it had taken Enma's contacts a while to pull the school records of the girls and figure out a workable schedule.

Detective Watson,

Holo academy is surprisingly secure with student records so unfortunately I wasn't able to get much. If you end up needing medical records or the like I'm afraid you'll have to find them on your own. Below however are some notes that I thought might aid you. I've done my best to put you within the social circles of each of the individuals.

Kureiji Olivia: A quiet but well liked girl, near perfect grades. A student aid for the school's Malay class. Honestly everything about this girl seems almost too perfect? I can't find a single black mark or negative interaction documented with any student or staff. She really doesn't seem the type to run away.

Hoshou Marine: From all accounts a very… 'bold' personality. The only class of hers I could fit into your schedule was the Jazz Band elective. Supposedly she'd had several reprimands about appropriate behavior in her relations with other girls in the class so it shouldn't be too hard for you to find people ready to talk about her.

Uruha Rushia: Wasn't able to pull much about her social life. Signs point that she may have had some sort of relationship with another of the missing girls, Hoshou Marine but the nature of this relationship is unknown. She was taking advanced Latin so I hope you've been studying Detective. She was also the president of the `Occult Studies` club. You'll have to apply for that on your own. Rumor is that their quite secretive. So have fun with that.

Sakamata Chloe: Socially she ran in a lot of different circles. A member of the school's disciplinary committee, the swim team. This one was difficult class wise but I found another angle for you. I was actually able to pull some strings and get you her old room. So hopefully you'll find your new roommate to be acceptable as well as useful. I've attached a file on her as well. [Gawr Gura]

Gawr Gura: Captain of the swim team and by all accounts incredibly athletic overall. Supposedly both the swim and water polo teams were competing for her attention before she decided to captain the swim team. Something of note, for most of the students I've looked into obtaining basic information on their past hasn't been difficult, but by all records I can find Gura just showed up one day. I'm going to keep looking and I'll let you know if I can find out more.

Detective. I'm sure I don't need to remind you but please stay on your guard. The state of the situation is unknown so we don't have any way to gauge the amount of danger that you're in. Please remember that until we have more information, everyone is a suspect.

Of course let me know if there's any outside assistance I can give you.

Good luck,

Enma
