Greetings, , and welcome to what is to be a new story for Ash's adventure, a more devoted to Ash's Kanto Journey that will be a different turn for Ash and his friends as the synopsis will tell you what is going on or will try to explain what is going on as I'm not good at making them. It's more like my own version of the Indigo League/region. I am still writing Ash's Unova Journey My Version or A Promise Kept Ash's Johto Journey. It's something for you to read while I work on those stories, so let's start this story.

Chapter 1: The Journey Begins

"Human Speech"

"Pokemon Speech"

The Pokemon world is full of new mysteries and wonders, as most trainers either follow their own path or have expectations thrown on them to live up to. We meet our hero Ash Ketchem who lives up to the first and last of those statements. This is his story and adventure.

Ash was watching a live Pokemon battle on TV as the battle against Bruno and Agatha was going on as a 10-year-old. Ash was preparing for tomorrow to get his trainer's license and starter Pokemon.

"Man, I can't wait to start my adventure and try to forge my own adventure my way as a Pokemon master," Ash said to himself.

"Ash, aren't you going to sleep soon enough?" A female voice called out to Ash, who wasn't aware what time it was from how the battle was nearing its end as she came into Ash's room. "Seriously, if you don't go to bed soon, you'll miss your starter."

"I know, Mom, and I set my alarm for ten tomorrow as that is what Professor Oak told many of us trainers to come and get their Pokemon," Ash said to his mother, Delia, who sighed.

"You're like your father and brother since they went on their own Journey. You've been preparing for this day since then," Delia said to Ash, who sighed and nodded.

"I know that Mom, and while I do look up to Red as my reason for becoming a trainer, he's in Johto now, and Dad is in Sinnoh for their journeys; I just wished they would see me off tomorrow, though," Ash said to his mother who sighed.

"Trust me, Ash, they really wanted to come and see you off, and they did give your happy birthday wishes earlier today; if you like, I'll try to wake you up tomorrow morning just in case you oversleep your alarm?" Delia suggested to Ash, who nodded.

"Knowing my past, yeah, that might be the case, so yes, please, Mom, do so," Ash said to his mother as he overslept in the past for big moments and events.

"Well, you better get to bed now and don't overthink what you will decide for your starter tomorrow, and most of our neighbors will see you off tomorrow. Ash and I'll finish your packing tomorrow, sweetie," Delia said as she left Ash Ash sighed and went to bed.

Ash's father and brother have been on their Journey ever since Ash was five, and while they have been the best, many have seen Ash as that kid who will always follow his older brother's shadow even though Ash looks up to him more than being in his shadow. Since Red left, more Pokemon from other regions have been appearing in Kanto that came from Johto to Sinnoh.

The next day came as Ash's alarm went off, and he still slept heavily through it. Ash's mother came in to see this and sighed.

"ASH, YOU BETTER GET UP, OR YOU WON'T BE GETTING YOUR STARTER," Delia yelled at Ash to the point the whole neighborhood would probably have heard her as Ash fell out of his bed, eyes swirling as he snapped out of it.

"Ugh, what time is it?" Ash said as he noticed that his Pokeball alarm was showing 10:15 am. "Ugh, I'm late," Ash said as he was getting ready in a Red and white hat with a symbol on the front, a black shirt, blue jacket, greyish blue trousers, and blue shoes as five minutes had passed through all that. "By Mom, I'll see you at Professor Oaks lab when I get my starter," Ash said as he ran out the door.

"Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, I'll take any of them as long as one of them is still there when I get there and hope that I'm not too late," Ash said to himself as he arrived to see a group of people waiting for another trainer to get his starter and seeing him/her off as there was a car there. "Oh great, this must be for Gary," Ash said while he and Gary had more of a friendly rivalry, they were always to compete with each other even though Gary had been better at things in the past as there were cheerleaders there for Gary chanting for him as Gary came out of his grandfather's lab as Gary noticed Ash was there.

"Well, late as always, Ash, you too late as all three starters are now taken, as always I'm way ahead of you," Gary said to Ash, who was stunned by the fact all three starters were taken before he did and it didn't make sense as the two of them were the only ones that were left during this time as Gary sighed seeing this. "Trust me, Ash, I am surprised as you were, but there was only one left, and I took it; if you had shown up before me, it would've been the other way around; maybe next time," Gary said as he hopped into the car and took off as the crowd takes off.

"Ah, Ash, you came just in time," A voice called out to Ash. It was the Professor of the region, Professor Samuel Oak.

"Professor, is what Gary said true that no other starter is left?" Ash said, upset as Professor held out his hand to calm Ash off, who sighed. "If that's the case, then I will have to wait," Ash said.

"Ash, I wanted to wait until my grandson left to tell you this, but one of the starters is still left," Oak said to Ash, who was taken aback by this. "Follow me," Oak said as he led Ash into the laboratory. Ash was looking around, as while this wasn't the first time he's been in the lab, it's been a while since then.

"I guess Gary wasn't informed that there is one or two left, Professor?" Ash said to Professor Oak, who nodded.

"He's half right. I hid one Pokemon from the others cause it was meant for you. As for the other Pokemon, it was taken by a female trainer from outside of Pallet Town who was starting her Journey even though she has a few Pokemon of her own just wanted to make it official," Professor Oak said to Ash, who was surprised to hear this. "Trust me, Ash, I was surprised that as well, given that she is three years older than you and Gary, but she was determined to prove herself and to someone for who I didn't get to ask."

Professor Oak and Ash arrive at the table where the starters where being held. Ash is wondering what Pokemon is left. "So, what Pokemon is left?" Ash asked Oak, who had a questioning look on his face. "Huh? What is it, Professor? Did I say something wrong?"

"No, Ash, I thought that you already knew ahead of time, but I guess your brother never got a chance to tell you this Pokemon was asked by him to be given to you only as it has to do with his own starter," Oak said as Ash was surprised by this as he knew what Pokemon he was going to be given as the center console of the Pokeball capsule was opening up as Ash took it.

"You should know that this starter isn't easy to raise, but given that you've had experience with his starter before he parted for Johto, you should be able to handle it," Oak said to Ash, who nodded as he opened the Pokeball as a reddish lizard-like Pokemon with a flame on its tail came out a Charmander.

"Wow, hello Charmander, I'm Ash Ketchem, and I am hoping to get to know you better and be a good trainer for you," Ash said to the young Pokemon, who humphs as if it was wondering why someone was gushing over it, and Ash doesn't look like he's the type to be strong for it as Ash noticed and knew that this would take some time.

"Maybe I can help you with getting a better understanding of this Charmander, Ash after all, she is the child of your brother Charizard," Oak said to Ash, who was taken aback by this as Charmander heard this and wasn't amused by hearing this as Oak takes out a Pokedex Charmanders Pokeball and five additional Pokeballs which Ash accepted.

"So what's this? Were you talking about me being able to understand her? Professor?" Ash said to him, who sighed.

"Open the Pokedex, and I'll do the rest for you, Ash," Professor Oak said to Ash, who nodded and did so. As Professor Oak pressed a button in the middle of the Pokedex, something fell out of the back of the Pokedex on Ash's hands, which he nearly dropped. "Careful, Ash, that's new to these Pokedex. It's to help the trainers better understand their Pokemon, a translator," Oak said to Ash, who was surprised by this as he instantly put it in his ears. "Now let's see if it will work as it's a prototype, and it's in the recent Pokedex."

"Humph, not like that stupid device would help you with anything," Charmander said as she wasn't amused or believing this would work. "I don't know why my father's trainer would want me to go on my own journey as a starter and with his trainer's family when I don't even know them?" Charmander said as Ash was listening and letting her finish talking.

"I know that I'm your father's trainer's brother and making a similar journey, but I instead follow my own path as a trainer than just aim to be a Pokemon Master but to be there for my fellow Pokemon and willing to work with you as my partner Pokemon," Ash said as he definitely sounded like he understood her which Charmander was caught off guard and took what Ash just said to heart. "What do you want in return for us to work together as a team and friends?" Ash asked Charmander, who took some thought to what Ash had just said as she sighed.

"While I'm new to this whole thing, just like you, I'll give you a chance," Charmander said, crossing her claws. Ash nodded as she held her claw out with one finger, telling him there was more to what she wanted. "However, I expect a few things from you in exchange? First, I don't want to be in my Pokeball unless I am badly injured or poisoned. And the second is I want good battles. I know you are just starting as a trainer, so I'll let go of some battles, but I will choose what I want to fight after a while," Charmander said to Ash.

"Deal and I agree, and we can add more friends to the team as well, Charmander knowing that there will be Pokemon who might be different or wanted to be with trainers of their own one day," Ash said as he remembered something that his brother told Ash about their evolutionary line. "And when you evolve, please give me a chance as a trainer and not try to be disobedient? I know how prideful your evolutionary line is and how they don't like losing; I may be new to this and make mistakes from time to time, but that's part of being a trainer heck, I almost didn't make it here on time," Ash said to Charmander, who sighed and made an I guess shrug to Ash.

"Fair enough, Ash. It comes with the traits of being a trainer, and I'll try my best to not be that, and I will agree to let you call me out or warn me whenever I evolve during this Journey that I'm like that; I figured that my father did the same thing during his trainer's Journey from the sounds of it," Charmander said as Ash nodded as she jumps off the table and on Ash's shoulder as they left the room. "I'll forgive losses given that they are earned or against trainers who gave us a hard fight, so don't worry about the hate-losing part, Ash," Charmander said to Ash, who nodded.

"Fair enough, so let's get out to meet my mom, and we'll begin our journey as a team," Ash said to Charmander, who nodded.

Charmander hated to admit it, but Ash does feel like the type of trainer who is willing to give her the best he can as a trainer. While she was still suspicious about why she was asked to be Ash's starter over others, if Ash was willing to give her a chance as his Pokemon, she was willing to give him a chance as well as his partner Pokemon as they exited the lab and to a crowd of people who were cheering for Ash and Delia was out front waiting for Ash.

"Well, it seems like your brother's gift has arrived. Nice to meet you, young Charmander. You look exactly like your father, that's for sure," Delia said as Charmander puffed her chest upon that though Ash's mother does seem nice.

"Well, Ash, I have your backpack packed and ready for your journey, from your clothing to stuff for food and other necessities," Delia said to Ash.

Ash looked embarrassed as his mother did this in front of the crowd. On the other hand, Charmander was giggling at this as Charmander was going to enjoy this Journey or seeing her trainer being embarrassed by his own mother a little of both.

"MOM! Not in front of everyone, please, and I do appreciate you taking the time to pack this for me," Ash said to his mother, who giggled, as did Charmander upon seeing her trainer's dismay. Ash sulked a bit but let it go for now.

"I'm trying to ensure you are well and off on a good start without hassle. Remember, this is your Journey, and do not let your father and brother's reputation get to your dreams. Contact me when you get to Viridian City when you can," Delia said to Ash, who nodded.

"Will do, Mom, and I will make you all proud, as well as my Pokemon, as they are the ones that matter," Ash said to his mother.

"That's what a trainer's responsibility should be, Ash. It's your Pokemon that earns those wins, not just you, and best of luck," Oak said. Ash nodded, as did Charmander, as they headed off to the waving goodbyes of the crowd. Ash and Charmander waved back though Charmander was to Ash's mother and the Professor than the crowd she doesn't know.

"Now we'll just have to start our Journey on the first route and maybe find some Pokemon to either battle to catch or join our team if they want to," Ash said to Charmander, who nodded.

"Agreed, Ash, we might have gotten off to a bad start, but I'm fine. Either situation works for me; we just need to be careful who we want to join the team, as not everyone is willing to join humans teams," Charmander said to Ash. Ash now understands why Charmander acted the way she did when they met.

"Fair enough, but no matter who wants to join the team, we'll do our best for them as well," Ash said as Charmander nodded as her tail flared up in determination making sure not to set Ash on fire or his backpack as Ash chuckled as they left the outskirts of Pallet town.

"My Journey begins now," Ash thought.

Minus a rocky start with his starter, Ash is now on his Journey with Charmander. With new friends, Pokemon, and more to come, what else is in store for our hero and his companion Pokemon? As the Journey continues.

Stay Tuned.

The first Chapter of this new adventure is done. I started Ash off with a new starter, but this was what came to mind while writing this story. I plan on having Ash capture new Pokemon with rivals that aren't just Gary in this story and more to come. And as mentioned before, this doesn't mean I'm not working on Unova or Johto. They will get their chapters out when their ready. As for the other starter, you'll see it in a couple chapters. Once the next Chapter is out, capture requests will be open. Just remember that, like the other stories, this isn't super Ash. As for his first capture, I have something planned for the next Chapter you'll see. See you next time.
