Chapter 1: The Beginning Percy POV

(chapter has dark elements such as abuse and addiction so warning on that)

I groaned as I woke up. The only thing I remember from my dreams was a flash of green light, a bunch of laughing, and some pale man with a dark, bloodred cloak with what looked like people trying to come out of the cloak, sitting on a throne with a bunch of skulls and skeleton body parts.

After a few minutes, I finally decided to get out of bed, dreading the beating-sorry, conversation with Gabe in the living room.

"Hey kid, get me a beer" Gabe slurred, obviously drunk. I mean, come on, who the fuck gets drunk at 10 in the morning on a Saturday?

"Get it yourself fatass" I snapped, instantly regretting the words that had just come out of my mouth.

His beady black eyes filled with malice and a drunken fury narrowed. He spat out "What did you say to me you little fuckin' punk? You gonna disrespect me like that, IN MY OWN FUCKING HOUSE? HOW FUCKING DARE YOU!" He rushed to me, shattered his beer bottle on something, I didn't really know or care what it was, and started beating me with it. After 5 minutes, I was covered in deep lacerations that were bleeding heavily. I knew that they were going to leave even more scars on my heavily scarred 10-year-old body. I just wish that this pain would end. Just then my mother walked in, the smile on her face instantly evaporating off of her face, obviously horrified at what was taking place. "What's going on?" she asked timidly.

"Shut up bitch" Gabe slurred. He charged at her, and that's when my anger took over. I don't exactly know what happened but something sure as hell did happen. It was like a force push in Star Wars. Honestly, it was quite funny in my opinion. My mother instantly rushed over to me, wondering if I was ok.

Huh, that's weird" I muttered to myself.

"What is?" she asked.

"All of the wounds, they're gone." She looked at my arms, face, chest, and back and saw that I was right. The wound that I had just received from the wound had instantly disappeared.

Just then, a letter had flown into the house, with magic. Was this finally the Hogwarts letter that I had been expecting for years? My mom used to always tell me about her time at Hogwarts and the great people who she had met that had sadly died. Lily and James Potter, Peter Pettigrew, and the jokesters Pax and Jon Wacker. Everyone else who she had been friends with went into hiding except for one person, Sirius Black. Mom never talked about him so something must have happened to him. She never really elaborated what happened to the two of them, but something bad must have happened to him because she brought his name up only once, when she first introduced me to her friends from her past life.

"Well," she exclaimed. "Let's get goin." We went into the fireplace and I said "Diagon Alley!" Next thing I know, I'm in a pub.

"No beers Percy" my mom said, sounding exasperated. "Fuck," I muttered to myself.

"So, Sally, long time no see. What brings you and this young feller here?" a toothless, hairless hunchback asks.

"Well Tom, Percy has finally started Hogwarts here after him begging for years and years, he finally gets to go," my mom exaggerated.

"You suck," I muttered.

"Love you too!" my mom called back as she was walking away from the pub and into a backroom.

I entered the back room and saw that it wasn't really all that impressive. It was only maybe one or two trash cans filled to the brim-and I mean filled to the brim. I thought that not even Gabe's poker parties could get this much trash there. I saw a few stray cats there as well. I wasn't really paying attention until I hit something hard and I felt a pulsating pain in my nose. I wiped my nose and saw that I was bleeding. Fantastic, I thought while my mom giggled. She cleared up the bloody nose but didn't clear the blood off of my shirt. She tapped a few stones and-woah. There were maybe 10-15 shops on the main road alone. There was probably more that I couldn't see.

I also saw a giant marble bank that I had trouble reading. It looked like the Flatiron building back in New York except it was a bit wider. Not to mention, it seemed to be that there was a bunch of marble columns with little ridges in it that were a stark white, but also intricately laced with what looked to be small little flecks of gold. "This is where we're going to get the money that you're gonna need to buy your things. Bank's called Gringotts by the way," Mom explained. As we walked in, it looked really weird. There were what looked to be small people weighing stones on little scales. I didn't remember the names of the small creatures.

"Vault for Jackson," my mom said after we got to the front desk.

"Jackson…Jackson…Aha! Found it. Do you have the key?" The creature asked. Mom handed him the key. "Just the Jackson vault? What about his…other vault?"

Mom shook her head, looking at me nervously. "No. He isn't aware of that side yet."

"I understand," the creature said. "Let's get going. It's going to be a long trip there."
He wasn't lying. I timed the trip with my watch-15 minutes and 27 seconds. While we were going in the cart, I heard water dripping from the ceiling onto the floor. As we got deeper and deeper, I heard roars.
"Dragons." The goblin explained. "Helps the more important vaults like yours safe." I nodded feebly. As we got to our vault, I saw that the vault #13. And there were no other vaults on our row. Just that one.

"Where are the rest of the vaults?" I asked.

"The Jackson family is the oldest wizarding family in the entire wizarding world, they helped found Hogwarts and the Ministry." The goblin explained.

"Then where are the other 12 vaults?" I asked, curious to find the other vaults.

"That's on a need-to-know basis." The goblin said sharply. I left it at that. Once I had gotten my gold, my mom let me explore Diagon Alley by myself. She made me promise to meet here at the fireplaces at 2. It was 12:30. So I had some time. I checked my list for the things I needed. Cauldron, robes, wand, books, animals (optional), and potion stuff. Damn, I thought, no brooms? Tough. It really made me mad because Quidditch was maybe the best sport of all time. Except basketball. Basketball was miles better than Quidditch will ever be.

The first stop that I went to Madam Malkin's to get fit for my robes. It was a small and dainty store with a short and plump woman who seemed to be in her late 40s to early 50s. She walked up to me. "First year?"

"Yes ma'am." I replied. She went to find robes for me and while I was waiting I noticed that the store was kinda empty. Then again, it was also at like 9 in the morning so I couldn't really blame anyone due to how early it was in the morning. She found my robes and made me try them on. They were a bit big, so she did a bit of magical tweaking to make the pant legs and the sleeves a bit shorter. I paid her and I took a look at my robes. They were sleek jet black that hugged my shoulders pretty tightly but tapered off towards my abdomen ending in flows near my ankles.

As I walked around Diagon Alley, I noticed how unique all the shops were. One had like a huge Jack-In-The-Box thing on the top. Another had flying brooms flying out of it. I walked into the pet store and it was chaos. As soon as I walked into the building, all the owls went wild. They started screeching and shitting in their cages. All but one. One light gray owl with flecks of black on its wings with vibrant amber eyes. "Athena." I said, walking up to it, naming it after the Greek goddess of wisdom. I bought the owl and walked to Ollivander's, the last shop I needed to go to.

And coincidentally, it was 1:45, I needed to get my wand fast.

"Ah, Perseus Jackson. I was wondering when I was going to see you. It's about time that you appeared." The man mysteriously said. I winced at my full name being said. "Now, time for you to pick a wand." He grabbed a box. "Hmm, maybe this one. 12 inches, hair from a Pegasus, palm wood, slightly supple. Wave it." I did. And a stream of what smelled like salt water came out from the tip of it. He smiled and rang me up.

I walked to the Leaky Cauldron wondering if my mother was going to be there. "How'd your shopping go?" She asked.

"I mean, if you call getting assaulted by 20 owls good, than I guess it went well." I said. She laughed at that and started to walk away, silently stating that it was time for us to go home.

2 Months Later…

It was finally time for school to start and I was excited to go (first and probably only time in my life). I was also nervous at the same time. Even though I'd gone to boarding schools, I was at least close enough to visit my mother on the weekends. Since I was going to Hogwarts I couldn't do that, as I was in Scottland and she was in our small apartment in Manhattan. "Be good, won't you?" She asked me. I promised her that I would and that I would visit for Christmas.

Once I had gotten onto the train, I found an empty compartment and stashed my luggage on the top shelf as I kept my owl Athena next to me. About 10 minutes later, I saw two identical tall and lanky redheads come barging into my compartment.

"I'm Forge!" the first one exclaimed.

"And I'm Gred!" the second one yelled. I immediately called bullshit on them. There's no way that there were parents that named their kids Gred and Forge. If there were, they had to be one of the worst parents to ever exist.

"Bullshit. There's no way your parents named you that." I said.

"Damn, he caught up to our act quick. Even Mom doesn't even know our names half of the time. I'm George. He's"-he pointed to the other redhead in the compartment-"Fred." Fred waved to me.

"What's your name?" George asked. "Percy. Percy Jackson."

"We were supposed to tell you our last name? Well, Fred and George Weasley at your service good sir. I also really hope you're not like our brother Percy." Fred said.

"Suck up?" I asked.

"Suck up." And that was when I knew that I had made 2 new friends at Hogwarts.
