AN: I was rereading my old one-shots and I saw a lot of people asking for a full story version of this one. I thought about it and realized ways I could make that work so here we are. Technically Quirkless: Expanded.
AN2: There are a few different stories that are being posted as 'new'. Tha's because I have several stories that have no real ideas going forward or have been rather dead with not a lot of views or attention. So, over the next few posts I'll be pruning those out and adding new stories to take their place.
Technically Quirkless: Expanded
Chapter one
-Aizawa-
Sighing to himself, Aizawa took a long drink from his coffee, heavy eyes staring around the park as he walked around. "Figures." He grumbled to himself, "My one day off where I get to finally sleep in and I have fucking insomnia." Seeing yet another mother tug her child away from him with a mutter about homeless people he felt his eye twitch irritably.
While he was busy trying to figure what made him think walking in a park full of idiots would help him get tired enough to nap, he heard an explosion go off. None of the locals seemed to care about the sound, or the accompanying noise of some children laughing cruelly and another sobbing.
Moving quickly, Aizawa started making his way to the source of the explosion and sobbing when he heard a child's voice "Haven't you learnt your lesson yet? You're a Quirkless freak Deku, and that's all you'll ever be. So just stay down!" another explosion went off as he heard more sobbing, the sound of a little feet scrambling, and a meaty whap of someone being punched joining the mix as the sobbing came out more muffled now. "Can't run anymore Deku!" a kid with red eyes grinned with a wild and savage smile no child should have as he grabbed the arm of a crying child with green hair, the explosions in his free hand implying what was happening in the one around the other kid's arm.
"Enough!" Aizawa snarled, his hair rising and eyes glowing as he cancelled the blond kid's quirk.
"Aaaaah, run!" one of the other kids behind the blond one bolted away, starting a mass exodus including some who drug away the protesting and cursing explosion user.
"Got to look into that kid later." Aizawa frowned before looking at the sobbing kid on the ground, his cheek swelling and bruised, "You alright there kid?" he asked, trying to sound calm despite his lack of any social skill. He chose being an underground hero for a reason damnit! Where was Mic when you needed him?! The damned Cockatoo was the one who liked kids!
"M' fine." The kid mumbled out through the pain, sniffling miserably as Aizawa lifted the arm that he saw was grabbed to see what treatment the burns would need.
"What the?" Aizawa narrowed his eyes in confusion when he saw the arm was completely unburned, unlike the grass, trees, and rocks around them which all showed signs of having been caught in the explosions. They showed much older scorch marks as well which he'd make sure were looked into, "How did you keep your arm from burning?" he knew he heard the little psychopath shout that this kid was quirkless. Was it just a weaker passive quirk that the kid with the flashier 'heroic' quirk wrote off? Wouldn't be the first time that something along those lines had happened.
"I dunno." The Kid was blinking his tears away as he looked at Aizawa "Oh my gosh you're Eraserhead!" the little elementary schooler's eyes widened in awe as he began to fanboy, at least until the pain in his face made him stop with a small whimper.
"Did your quirk protect you?" Aizawa pushed aside the fact of anyone, let alone a little kid, recognizing him to try and figure out what had happened. He couldn't think of anything else besides a quirk protecting this kid, and nobody had been around but Aizawa himself and the ones doing the attacking.
"I don' have a quirk." The kid's exuberance at meeting a pro suddenly went to misery as he scuffed his feet at the dirt, "The doctor said I'd never be a hero." The kid's tone implied it was more than just the doctor saying that.
"Kid, let's get you back to your parents." Aizawa frowned, now too curious to even bother trying to go home and sleep "I want to have a doctor friend of mine take a look at you, see if they can't figure out why you didn't get burned and get that cheek taken care of." The kid seemed hesitant, so he sighed and did something he'd never had to do in his history as an underground hero "I'll give you my autograph."
-Nezu-
Humming happily to himself, the principal of UA walked to the infirmary, having noticed his newest, and grumpiest teacher, go there with a civilian family on the security cameras. "It's the strangest thing." He heard Recovery girl talking as he approached "The kid doesn't have a quirk factor, that's true. But unlike a regular quirkless person his quirk factor isn't zero, it's actually somehow in the negatives."
"The Negatives?" Eraser Head's frown was audible in his voice as Nezu rounded the corner to see them talking outside the infirmary, the civilian family visible through the window on the door, two parents hovering around a bubbly excited child who seemed to be on an extreme sugar rush.
"Now this is interesting." Nezu spoke up happily to announce his presence to his staff "Care to explain why a civilian family is here though?"
"I found the kid in there being attacked in the park but some brat with an explosion quirk. The little psychopath attacking the kid was screaming about him being quirkless but despite being hit point blank with explosions there wasn't a mark from them, just from a punch to the face. The kid in there said himself he was quirkless, so I brought him here to get checked out." Aizawa scowled, "Nobody in the park seemed to care about a kid being attacked or another letting loose explosions. I'm planning to open up an investigation."
"I gave him some ice for his cheek, not wanting to use my quirk since he was running on a lot of adrenaline, and healing only a little of the swelling wouldn't do much." Recovery Girl took over, neither of them batting an eye as he climbed Eraserhead like a jungle gym, he'd clearly have to step up his game if he wanted his entertainment. "I had some tests running and that's how we found out about his Quirk Factor."
"So, what does that mean?" Nezu asked as he settled into Aizawa's scarf, his smile strained from the implications of what Aizawa's investigation might turn up.
"How should I know?!" Recovery Girl gave him an annoyed look.
"I have an idea." Eraserhead had a serious, albeit resigned, expression, "Get Nemuri here." Wanting to know where this was going, although he had an inkling, Nezu called for Midnight to come to the infirmary, glad she was at least on campus at the moment. Once the R-Rated Heroine had arrived, and gotten a firm order from both Eraserhead and Recovery Girl to behave around this civilian family, they walked in.
"Oh my gosh you're Midnight!" the child squeed excitedly upon seeing the heroine.
"That she is kid." Eraserhead sighed tiredly, "Anyway, I wanted to test something so I'm going to have her use her quirk on you, assuming that's alright with you and your parents."
"It won't hurt, will it?" the child's mother asked concerned as she clutched the hands of her son and husband.
"Not at all, my quirk lets me produce a gas that causes people to fall asleep." Midnight assured the woman, her tone calming and professional. Showing she could be mature when she just wanted, she just didn't often 'want to'. Upon getting the confused nods from the parents, Midnight put her hand by the child's face and let out the gas from her quirk.
"Um…shouldn't I be falling asleep?" the kid looked confused after a minute of breathing the pink gas and staying completely awake.
"Um…yes." Midnight looked exceedingly confused.
"Looks like I was right." Eraserhead smirked, enjoying his old classmate's confusion even as Midnight recovered the exposed skin releasing gas "Kid, your quirk factor is in the negatives. I noticed you didn't have any burns from when that kid hit you with their explosion quirk, and now this? It looks like your negative quirk factor makes you immune to quirks."
"I have a quirk?!" the kid's smile was so bright Nezu wondered if he needed sunglasses.
"Technically no." Eraserhead shook his head as the civilians looked confused "By definition, a Quirk has a special ability that generates a positive degree of Quirk Factor within themselves. Since your Quirk Factor is negative it's technically not a quirk. Still, it's an impressive ability."
"So, I can be a Hero?" the child looked scared but hopeful as he asked that question.
"Of course you can." Eraserhead looked exasperated at anyone thinking otherwise "If one is willing to put in the work, to take things seriously, and find ways to improve around their won limitations, then they can be a Hero."
"I will Eraserhead!" the kid promised, looking determined even around his bruised cheek.
"That's my boy!" the child's dad crowed proudly, a bit of fire exiting his mouth which resulted in the sprinklers going off, soaking them.
"…Really Hiashi?" the civilian woman deadpanned at her now sheepish husband.
"Well, this is certain to prove entertaining!" Nezu grinned even as Recovery Girl shut off the sprinklers, "Tell me young man, do you have any other skills that might help you as a hero?"
"Um…I do quirk analysis?" The small verdette child admitted sheepishly, "I mean…I'm not very good but…"
"Nonsense, I'd love to see where you are." Nezu smiled genially as the kid's mother handed over the little boy's backpack, fishing out a notebook labelled 'Hero Analysis for the Future, volume 3', the book kept dry by the bag it was in.
Taking the book, expecting some simple observations, Nezu froze. The kid's handwriting was shaky and still in crayon, but things written down were astounding for one so young.
"Midoriyas, I believe I'd like to talk to you about personally overseeing your son's education." Nezu gave a wide manic grin even as his staff members in the room paled.
Rude.
