Thank the people who decided they had to cut off our power today because they want to make a certain power connection through the house. Why thank them? Because if they wouldn't be doing this today I would not be writing because I just got a subscription to sky showtime which allows me to watch season 1 till season 9 of paw patrol, so that got me busy anyway here is another chapter of this project. Hope it's good hehe
Chapter 2, the biggest ring in America.
Chase quietly walks through the border forest between barkingburg, adventure bay and smoke town. The dog fighting ring should be around here.
'The location actually makes perfect sense, hard to find and close to smoke town. Criminality is a big thing there, be on alert Chase.' Ryder said through Chase's pup tag.
'I'm on the case Ryder.' Chase answered back. Chase looked around but it was hard to see. It was dark and with the trees it didn't make this job any easier. 'Ruf, night vision goggles.' Chase said. His night vision dropping down in front is his face.
'Suit working properly?' Ryder asked through the pup tag.
'Works properly and feels good.' Chase reported back.
'How does it look?' Tyler asked jokingly, sitting at the lookout able to follow the pups every move with Ryder right beside him.
Chase laughed as his suit was almost completely black, so he wouldn't be easy to spot in the dark.
'Can't even see it.' Chase joked back.
'Good.' Ryder replied. 'Any sign of the place yet?'
'Not yet, but I am not far I can tell, think I'm hearing some barking in the distance.' Chase said. Continuing to check his surroundings.
'Okay Chase, be careful, we have pups on standby. If there is anything you immediately call it in.' Ryder said, he had his set up right next to where his quad was. It wouldn't take him long to go to Chase's location.
'Got it Ryder, I'm on it.' Chase said, following the barking noises.
'Building in sight Ryder.' Chase reported.
'I see, take every precaution.' Ryder replied. Looking at the footage from Chase's pup tag, Tyler nervously sitting beside him.
Chase looked for any sign of humans using his night vision. Chase didn't fully trust this entrance.
'I'm taking a look around the place, see if there is a safer way in.' Chase said.
'Good idea Chase.' Ryder replied back.
Chase went left of the entrance, he saw a bunch of abandoned crates lying around out in the open. Just the smell told Chase to immediately abandon the left side of the building.
'Oh boy.' Tyler said out loud. 'I may have done so much research, but I cannot understand why humans can do such things to dogs.' Ryder nodding in agreement.
Chase now went to the right side, luckily that side was different. Clearly wasn't really used by the humans as the plants had overgrown.
'I don't spy any humans on the roof, maybe there is a safer way in from there.' Chase reported. 'Ruf, zip-line.' The tool quickly appearing out of Chase's pup pack. The back getting stuck to a tree, and the front to a high part of the roof. Chase took the zip-line up, no humans in sight. What would they be doing on the roof at night anyway? These humans do horrible things so you should never take anything by chance, especially as a dog. I don't think any dog would be eager to zip-line it's way into a dog fighting ring, but as a rescue dog crazy things happen.
Still using his night vision Chase could see where the humans were and where the dogs were. The humans seemed to be chilling in a different area of the building.
'There are a lot of dogs in here, there is no human currently watching them.' Chase reported.
'Do what you want to do, just be careful.' Ryder replied, not holding back in showing that this wasn't his favorite mission to do. Neither was it Chase's. He knew that whatever he done to prepare for this mission and what he would see, it would never prepare him enough for what he was about to see.
Chase spotted a vent leading to where the dogs were. It was very small, (because that's how vents are supposed to be lol.) Chase barely able to fit his head through there, the rest was easier luckily. The closer he got the louder the barking became. Chase putting in some earplugs to protect his ears from the very loud barking. Even Ryder had to turn his computer volume down to protect his and Tyler's ears.
'That really sounds like the biggest dog fighting ring in America.' Tyler commented.
'Louder then any shelter I've heard.' Ryder commented.
'It's already annoying enough from outside.' Marshall said, the pup listening in to the entire conversation. Ready with his EMT gear so he could react even faster then Ryder could in case of emergency. He and his truck were hidden close to the building, the EMT truck covered in black cotton Rocky had in his truck. Skye also hidden close by in case Chase and or Marshall needed to flee the area.
Chase very slowly crawled through the vent, the barking echoing through it. Chase was now inside the wall of where the dogs were, he just had to find a place where the vent entered the massive area. Chase saw light further away and knew that was probably the entrance.
It's a huge hall filled with tiny, and very tiny cages. Big dogs walking back and forth in their 2 meter perimeter. Tiny dogs locked in little dog carriers, the dogs don't really have names, but numbers. The place was pure chaos with everyone barking at everyone. The wall Chase was behind was the wall where all the tiny dogs were stacked against. At least three or four dog carriers stacked on top of each other, and the wall was huge. Chase got to the vent and looked through the vent into the huge area, he couldn't see much, he had to get a closer look. The vent wasn't very well closed and Chase could pull the screws loose with his bare paws.
Immediately some dogs noticed the movement at the vent, some barked, like they always did, some got curious. Chase opened the vent, the vent falling forwards on the floor, all dogs went quiet and everyone who could look, looked. Chase backed up into the vent out of view. Able to see a human was coming to see what the noise was with his night vision.
'What is all this noise!' The man screamed. A second and third human coming to join the man.
'Looks like the vent broke and fell.' The second man said.
'Oh, it was loose anyway, let's do a quick check to make sure the dogs are not trying to escape or anything. Their owners would kill us.' The first man said.
The three men walked into the room, the dogs immediately becoming more aggressive as the men came in. The whole atmosphere just changed.
'You good there Chase?' Ryder asked.
'Good so far.' Chase whispered. 'I did make a noise which caused some men to come in, but I backed away before they came in.' Chase said.
'Any camera's around?' Tyler asked.
'No, this place is not technologically advanced.' Chase answered, still whispering very softly as the vent could easily echo sound.
The third man came to the vent, Chase muting his pup tag really quick, he was safely around the corner, but one noise would give him away. The man took a quick look but saw nothing, then looked at the bolts.
'Yeah that thing is old, like everything here.' He commented
'Construction is impossible, we can't risk anyone knowing about this.' The first man said. 'Alright, no escaping dogs, let's get back to the cake, I was looking forward to that all day and they better not eat it without me.'
The men then left and the dogs seemed to be more relaxed, but it was still loud chaos. Chase could see the coast was clear, so he decided to go for it. He walked through the vent a little less quiet and got to the vent entrance to the dog area, a lot of dogs looking at the black dressed shepherd with confusion. Chase saw mainly a lot of Pit-Bull's, but there were a few other breeds around.
Chase's eyes then focused on a, a wolf? or a dog? He could not tell. Chase walked into the area, keeping his distance from the cages and crates, slowly walking to the wolf like animal, whilst a lot of dogs barked at him.
The animal was laying down the other way, then looked up as she heard the weird amount of barking. Suddenly in the corner of her eye she saw something black moving. She got up very fast and immediately pounced towards Chase. The fence keeping her away.
Chase backed up a bit and looked at the animal. He saw she was scared. The animal looked him in the eyes too, as to say, help.
'Hahaha you scaredy cat.' A dog that looked like a husky said, laughing at the animal.
'Shut up Kion.' She said, returning to her sleeping spot.
'You'd think a wolf wouldn't be such a scaredy cat.' Kion continued.
'I'm a dog and you know that.' The wolf like dog responded. 'Almost as big of an idiot as that paw patrol pup.'
'The what?' Kion responded
Chase was confused. 'Wait how do you know that?' He asked
'I'm from barkingburg.' She responded.
'Until the humans stole you.' Kion said.
'WOULD YOU MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS FOR ONE SECOND KION!' The wolf dog exclaimed at the Alaskan malamute dog.
'They stole you?' Chase asked.
'Yes, and they'll steal you if you don't skedaddle out of here. Most of these dogs would eat you alive.
'Yeah like me.' Kion said with the friendliest tone Chase had ever hear someone say that.
'I'm doing research because we hope to close down this place and free all of you.'
'Freedom? Ah dream on pup.' Another dog on the other side of the wolf pup said. As he spoke, all the dogs went quiet. Now everyone was talking about the visiting shepherd pup.
'Silence you idiots.' The American Akita said.
'There is no closing down this place, as soon as you are in, you never go out.' The Akita said.
'At least not alive.' Kion added.
The pit-Bull in the cage next to the Akita kept on groenling and barking at Chase, the Akita then turned his head to him.
'Shut up idiot I'll destroy you immediately in that ring if you don't stop it right now!' The Akita exclaimed. The pit-Bull stopped barking but did not back down, staring at the Akita. 'If I don't destroy you first Isamu.' He said.
It remained quiet. Everyone surprised someone talked back at that huge dog. Then suddenly the Akita had had enough and tries to go for the black and white pit-bull, the other dog doing the same. Everyone watching as the dogs tries hitting each other through the fence, but it did not work.
Chase watched the chaos unfold, trying to process what he is seeing.
'So, you really want to bring this place down, you have no doubts.' The wolfdog said.
'We'll try our best.' Chase said.
'That will be an interesting funeral.' Kion joked. The wolfdog ignoring him.
'Don't pay attention to him, some owners don't know how manners work.' The wolfdog said. 'If you manage to take this place down, please think of me. I just want to go home.' She said.
'What's your name.' Chase asked.
'HAAAAAAACHIIIII.' Kion exclaimed. Laughing at the wolf dog.
The wolf dog rolls her eyes. I'm Hoshi, apparently some dogs can't be smart enough to know how childish they are.' Hoshi said, looking at Kion.
'I'll see what I can do Hoshi, may I ask what breed you are? I'm curious.' Chase asked.
'I'm a Saarloos Wolfdog, something that is also too high level for some dogs to understand.' Hoshi said. 'Be careful.'
'I will, thanks.' Chase said. Before walking on, wondering around the place. Dogs staring, growling and barking at the pup, but Chase was focused on other things. Making sure Ryder had a picture of what he had to deal with, oh no, Chase forgot something. Chase taps his pup tag to finally unmute himself.
'Forgot I was muted sorry!' Chase said.
'No worries, I'm getting a pretty good picture, are there a lot of injured dogs?' Ryder asked.
'A lot of scars, but not really injured.' Chase reported.
'Since it's a very big event, they are probably taking their best dogs.' Tyler added.
'Good point.' Ryder responded. 'Is there anything else you still need to see Chase?'
'I think I'm coming out, we still need proof that actual dog fighting is taking place here, but there must be another, safer way to do that right?' Chase asked
'I'll see what I can do, I know someone who is pretty good with this stuff, I'll see what i can do.' Ryder answered.
'Okay, coming out.' Chase reported.
'Alright, Marshall can drive you home.' Ryder responded.
Chase carefully went back through the tight vent and got back outside. Scanning to make sure no humans were outside, Chase safely made it back to Marshall and his truck, two safely left the forest and went home.
