Chapter 24

A/N: It's been just over a year since I started this story. Most of my readers know this, but I'm gonna tell you anyway… When I get an idea for a story in my head I don't exactly plan my story out. I've seen where some people say that they plan their chapters / stories out. I can't. No matter how hard I try… somehow my story just takes over. Most of the time I don't even realize that I'm finished writing a chapter until its done. Anyway… I'm getting off track here. Here is the final chapter unless you guys want an epilogue. Bella POV

It was finally here. The day that we'd all been dreading. The Volturi was coming today. Carlisle and Sam both have tried to assure me that everything would be fine. I wasn't so sure. The pack and I had gathered in the field the day before deciding to camp out there. The Cullens and their allies would be meeting up with us. I was nervous. Today could very well be the last day of my life. Aro and his guard could very well kill all of us today. And if he did, I'd never get to see my son grow up.

I was standing in the clearing waiting for the others when Sam walked up to me. "What you thinking about so hard?" He asked me.

"Everything." I said. "Sam…you have to promise me something." He nodded. "If something happens to me..."

"Bella... nothing is going to happen to you." He told me.

I shook my head. "You don't know that. It's highly possible that Aro could come today and decide that since I won't change that he'll just kill me. Sam we need to have things in place." I said.

Sam grabbed me by my shoulders to hold me in place. "I want you to listen to me and listen good. Nothing is going to happen to you. Carlisle and I already have a plan in place. Paul is gonna be beside you the entire time. If anything starts to go wrong, Paul is gonna get you out of here and get you somewhere safe. Do you understand me?"

"Sam, you don't get it. There is nowhere safe for me. Demetri will be able to find me anywhere I go!" I yelled at him.

"Do you trust me?" He asked and I nodded. "Then trust that I'm going to get us out of this and when I do, we're going to live our life. You're going to enjoy your café. I'm going to keep building my construction company. We're going to raise our son and maybe someday have more kids. Just trust me that I know what I'm doing and that everything is going to be okay." Sam said.

I wanted to believe him. I really did, but I was having trouble. "I trust you." I said quietly even though I knew that everyone around us could hear me. Jared and Jake started growling pulling us from our moment. "You should phase." I told him and he nodded.

Sam ran into the tree line so that he could phase. Paul moved closer to me. I lightly scratched behind his ear and I could've sworn that he was purring. Sam came trotting out of the trees and moved to stand on my other side. We were soon joined by the Cullen's, minus Rose and Emmett, who I knew were with my son.

"It won't be long." Alice said. No one said anything.

Sure enough, Alice was right. It couldn't have been more than ten minutes, when we saw them approaching. Aro was in front with Caius and Marcus flanking him on either side. I could see the higher ranking guard members that I'd either met or Alice had told me about not far behind them. "Well well, what do we have here." Aro said.

"Aro." Carlisle said.

"Quite the crowd you've gathered here today." Aro said.

"She isn't a danger, Aro and you know that." Carlisle said.

"I have no proof of that. You seem to be missing a few members of your coven. Where is Edward? I remember that he was part of this. Isn't she his mate?" Aro asked.

"Some things have happened since the last time that you saw Edward, I'm afraid. Edward is no longer with us. And two other members are doing some traveling." Carlisle told him. I could hear the sadness in his voice when he mentioned Edward's name.

"I see." Aro said. He looked over at me curiously. "She seems to cling to these wolves." I didn't like the way he talked about my wolves. Paul slightly growled. I wondered if he could sense something.

I leaned towards Paul's ear and whispered so only he could hear and relay to the others. "Be careful. Some of them have gifts."

When I stood back up, Jane was eyeing me. She was plotting something. I watched her. There was no way that I was going to be able to take my eyes off her. "So we have a dilemma. Rules have been broken and therefore there must be consequences." Aro said.

"You know what you're going to do. Why are we wasting time?" Caius said.

"Timing brother. It can't hurt to see what they have to say." Aro said.

"Bella was never Edward's mate." Alice spoke up.

Aro clapped his hands together. "Alice! Have you seen something?" Aro asked.

"I have seen many things… Including your decision, which I think is a mistake. May I approach?" She asked Aro. He nodded.

I briefly took my eyes off of Aro and Jane. I watched as Alice approached Aro and he held his hand out for her. Alice placed her hand in his. I knew what was happening. Not only was she showing Aro the things that she'd seen in her visions but also the things that she'd seen between me and the pack. I just hoped that she could block out anything having to do with Levi. It didn't take long until Aro dropped her hand. "You've seen a great deal. And if everything you have shown me is true than we have no reason to be here… despite the fact that I think she'd make a great immortal." Aro said.

"What about these creatures?" Marcus asked.

"These wolves are not the same, brother. They are merely shapeshifters who have chosen the form of a wolf." I heard Aro say.

"So you will leave in peace?" Carlisle asked.

"Perhaps." Aro said. I watched as Alice made her way back over to where Esme stood next to Carlisle.

Everything after that happened in a blur. Paul had me on his back. The guard was running toward all of us. Before Paul even had time to react Jane was lunging at me. She knocked me off Paul's back. I quickly started kicking her trying to get her off of me. Paul grabbed her by the ankle and started trying to dismember her body. I looked across the meadow and Sam was in a fight with another guard member. I heard a yip and turned back to Paul who nodded. I quickly climbed back on his back and we started running.

Sam POV

I finished tearing apart the vampire that I'd been fighting. I looked around the meadow for Paul and Bella and I didn't see them. I was hoping that meant that he'd been able to get her out before any of the vampires could get to her. I looked around again and most of the vampires had been destroyed. The only one left was the head one that was after my Bella. He was making his way towards Carlisle. I ran towards him as fast as I could. I lunged at him and ripped his head off. Leah and Jacob joined me quickly dismembering the vamp. Once they'd all been dismembered. We phased and put clothes on so we could start the fires. I walked out of the woods and looked at Jared. "Anyone been in contact with Paul?" I asked.

"They got all the way to the Canadian border before I was able to make contact. He was really focused and alert." Jared said.

I nodded. We quickly started building the fires and tossing the body parts in. I walked over to Carlisle. "So, now what?" I asked him.

"The family and I will head to Volterra. Someone needs to be there as a form of government. I've already sent word to Rosalie and Emmett that they are to join us after they drop off the baby with you, whenever you call her." Carlisle said.

I nodded. "Thank you. I know that things were tense for a while, because of …. Edward. But I really appreciate everything you guys have done for us." I said.

Carlisle put a hand on my shoulder. "Yes, we were sad about Edward, but he made his choices. Bella didn't deserve any of that… including the Volturi coming after her. We did what we felt was right." Carlisle said.

"Thank you." I said.

We finished burning the bodies before the pack and I headed back to the reservation to wait on Paul and Bella. Jared informed me that they should be back soon. I called Rosalie and told her to bring Levi home in 48 hours, that I had one last thing I needed to do.

Bella POV

When Paul and I arrived back at the house, Sam was standing on the front porch. I slid off Paul's back. I ran up the porch steps and into his arms. When I pulled back from the hug, I turned to Paul. "Thanks Paul." I said. He nodded his big wolfy head at me before running off. Sam led me into the house. "Where is everyone?" I asked.

"Gone home. It's just you and me. Rosalie is bringing Levi in two days." He told me.

"Why two days?" I asked him.

"Because there's one more thing I need to do before he comes home." Sam said and I looked at him confused. He grabbed my hand and gently led me to the couch. We sat down. "Bells, I love you. I love how selfless you are when it comes to others. I love how you take care of all the boys in the pack, even when their hitting your last nerve." Sam said and I could feel tears building up in my eyes. I had a feeling where this was going. "I love that fact that you take care of everyone in general…Charlie, Billy, Sue. You never ask for anything in return. You know, when I first realized that I'd imprinted on you…I was so sure that you were going to reject me. And just the thought of it, terrified me. But you were completely open to the idea. You surprise me every day and it makes me fall in love with you even more. Isabella Marie Swan, will you marry me?" He said.

I was full blown crying by the time he finished. Once upon a time, I'd been completely against marriage…maybe that was when I thought that Edward was my future. But then the imprint happened and suddenly Sam was a huge part of my life. It completely surprised me, how quickly I fell for Sam. He suddenly became my whole world…well him and the pack. The next thing I know, Sam and I are having a baby. I know that he's my future and suddenly I'm not so scared of marriage anymore. "Yes." I said barely above a whisper.

Sam quickly pulled me into his lap and kissed me. He put every bit of feeling into the kiss and so did I. "God, I love you so much." He said.

I reached up and cupped his face with both of my hands. "I love you too." I said, before I kissed him again.

Two days later, found Sam and I sitting on our front porch waiting for Rose and Emmett's arrival with my son. I was so grateful to them. When I'd realized that there was a possibility that I would either go into labor early or that things could go south during the battle, I knew that I needed a plan. Fortunately, Sam had agreed with me. That was when I knew that Rose was the only one outside of the pack and the coven that could protect him. And I knew that she wouldn't go anywhere without Emmett. So, I knew that they'd both be protected if anything happened. "Their close." Sam said.

I turned and looked at him. "Can you smell them?" I asked.

He shook his head. "No, it's weird. It's almost like I can sense that Levi is almost home." He said.

"Kind of like the imprint bond?" I asked him.

"Sort of." He told me.

A few minutes later, sure enough. They pulled into the driveway. Sam and I both bounded off the front porch, eager to see and hold our son. Even though it had only been a couple of days, it felt like a piece of me was missing and I knew that Sam was feeling the same way. "He's perfect." Rose said as she pulled Levi out of the car and handed him to me.

I looked down at my son in my arms before I handed him to Sam and threw my arms around Rose. "Thank you so much. For everything." I said, pulling back. "I knew that you were the only one that I could trust. For some reason I just knew that you'd understand." I told her.

"More than you know." Rose told me. "Well, we're off." She said.

I nodded. Sam had told me that The Cullen's would be taking over Volterra. "Please be sure to write. After all, your Levi's godmother." I told her. I think that if Rose could have cried she would have.

"Thank you." She said, before they climbed into the car and left.

I turned to Sam and Levi. "What do you say to a quiet night?" He asked me.

I smiled at him. "I think that it sounds perfect." I said as we headed inside the house.

A/N: Welp. I think that's the end. Not sure how I feel about the battle scene but I've learned to just go with it. If you guys want an epilogue let me know. But I feel good about the ending. On to the next story.
