'Stefan, I need to show you.' when I entered my room.

Elena was sitting on the bed, she had her hands in her pocket.

'What is it?'

She pulled out what looked like a folded paper. 'I found this in Jeremy's room.'

It was a photo of Isobel and a young boy, though he looked like a man.

He had pale skin, thick, dark hair, and blue eyes.

'I think that guy might be my father.'

'How did Jeremy get this photo?'

'I don't know, I haven't asked about him yet.'

'Do you have any idea who this man is?'

'No, Mr. Saltzman is looking into it.'

'Do you think John gave it to him?'

'I don't know.'

'What happened?'

I think I've been asked that question about 1000 hundred times during the last couple of months.

'I was walking to the truck and slipped.'

The slip had split open my head, and I needed stitches. Mat, Gran, and Caroline were at the hospital with me as the owner of the truck.

They were begging for forgiveness, but I was too busy thinking about Isobel to protest being fussed over.

Isobel was alive, so to speak, and was in Mystic Falls.

Why was she here?

Was it because of John Gilbert?

'Can you have a minute alone with my grandmother?' I barely heard my voice.

'What did you say?' the doctor asked as she finished up.

'I wanted to talk to my grandmother alone for a minute.'

'Ok.'

'We'll be outside.'

They left the room, and Gran sat on the bed. 'Bella-'

'Tell me about Isobel and John.'

'Bella.'

'Tell me or I'm going to John Gilbert.'

'He sort of came out.'

'Excuse me?'

'Beau, he asked us how would we feel if he were gay.'

'What did you do?'

'Your mother was immediately supportive.'

'What you and gramps?'

Tears flooded her eyes, and she turned away.

'We were less than supportive. I cried, while your grandfather, he- he told him that he didn't want... that type of person for a son. He left, and that girl took advantage of him, she's been trying to get her hooks into him since she met him, and because of us, she succeed.'

'Why don't you like them, John, and Isobel?'

'That woman was much too old for him for starters! She was

wild, rebellious! Beau told me that she had a child.'

'And John Gilbert?'

'He filled Beau's head with nonsense about vampires-'

'Vampires?'

'The Gilberts, they're a bit mad.'

'What did Isobel do to Beau?'

'She took advantage of him, he was 16 when they.. I wanted to have her arrested, she was an adult. If id told your grandfather to shut up-'

In burst the sheriff and Jeremy and John Gilbert.

John and Jeremy looked concerned, while Sheriff Forbes looked relieved.

'Caroline called and said that she was at the hospital.'

'I slipped and fell in the middle of the street.'

I tousled my hair to the right of my head and pointed to the left side of my head.

'17 stitches.'

'Were you being chased?' asked John.

'I was the chaser, I thought I saw someone I knew.'

''We were just leaving.' Gran grabbed my hand.

'Are you alright-'

'She's fine!'

'Gran.'

'I only want to head home.' Gran insisted. 'This place brings back bad memories.'

'Of what?'

'Bella was one of the few survivors of the attacks.'

John veered around to me as Gran and I sauntered to the door.

'Do you need a ride?'

'We're going to be fine.'

'I'll see you tomorrow, Jeremy.'

I barely made it to school in time, I had to fight with Gran all night on this.

'You're late, Miss Swan.' the Saltman proclaimed as Rosalie and Jeremy turned to me.

'It's not her fault,' Jeremy jumped up to help me to my seat, 'she was in hospital.'

'Again?' Rosaline sighed as the Saltman looked at me. 'What is up with this town?'

'Actually, it's more of a what's up with Bella thing.' Jeremy laughed. 'She slipped and fell outside of the grill.'

The class laughed as Saltman raised an eyebrow. 'You were at the grill last night?'

'Yeah, I actually saw you leave.'

He stared at me for a minute, then cleared his throat. 'Alright, settle down, and let's get started.'

I couldn't believe it, I just couldn't believe it.

'im here.' Damon replied as he walked in.

'Damon, thanks for coming.'

Sorry, I'm late.' Damon shut the door. 'My dog ate my uh...never mind.' He chucked at his joke before looking at Elena and me. 'What's with all the furrowed brows?'

'I saw Isobel last night.'

'Isobel is here?'

Damon pivoted to Alaric, who nodded. 'In town?'

He veers around to Elena, staring at her, then faced Alaric.

'Did you ask her about Uncle John? Are they working together?'

'No.'

'No, they're not?'

'No, I didn't ask.'

'What about the invention?'

'Didn't ask.'

'Did she know about the tomb vampires?'

'I don't know.'

'Did words completely escape you?'

'No, I was a little too distracted by my dead vampire wife to ask any questions.'

Damon turned to Elena. 'What did she want?'

'She wants to see me, Damon.' Elena breathed.

'Alaric is supposed to arrange a meeting. We don't know why or what she wants.'

'You don't have to see her if you don't want to.'

When did Damon start caring about what Elena wants?

When did he start caring about anything?

'I don't have a choice.'

'She's threatened to go on a killing spree.' Alaric sighed.

'Oh! I take it that's not okay with you guys.'

There he is!

'I want to do it. I want to meet her. If I don't, I know I'll regret it.'

I was all focused on Elena, until her redolence...

'Stefan, what-'

'It's her.' Damon said in a tight voice.

'Isobel?!' Alaric looked around.

'No, Isabella.'

Elena scoffed, Alaric looked between us, confusion etched on his face.

A knock on the door made me break the desk I was sitting at.

'Mr. Saltzman?'

'Busy.'

'I'm sorry to interrupt,' her quiet voice apologized, 'but left my book in your class.'

I glanced around and see her copy of Wuthering Heights on the floor three chairs behind Elena.

'I'll have Jeremy-'

'I prefer to have it now.' she insisted.

Elena scoffed again as I pointed to the book, and Damon turned to it.

'I'm kinda busy.' Alaric said, annoyed.

'I'm exceptionally forbearing.' she countered, who was just as peeved.

'Is it that important?'

'It's only the last gift my mom gave me.'

Elena sighed and picked up the book, whatever she was using as a bookmark fell out of her book. She handed it to Alaric as Damon opened the door.

'Well, well, it's the little Swan.'

'Isobel.' Alaric sighed as Damon handed her the book. 'I'm in the middle of a parent-teacher conference.'

'Isabella.' Bella groaned as she veered around Damon. She saw Elena and the two grimaced. 'Parent teacher?'

'Elena is the witness to an altercation between me and another student.' I explained.

'Is it about your explosive temper?'

'Explosive temper?' Elena repeats. Bella pointed to my desk. 'Oh, yeah... '

'We're in the middle of something.' Damon tried to usher her out, but she veered around him again.

'Where is my bookmark?'

'I didn't-' Elena began.

'It over here.' I scurried over to bookmark.

'What happened to you?' Damon asked.

'I slipped and fell last night.'

'Bella was at the grill last night.' Alaric replied.

I stared at Bella's bookmark, a photo of 4 teens, Isobel, John Gilbert, and Mr. Tanner, I recognized them instantaneously.

The fourth teen was-

Bella plucked the photo from my fingers.

'Thanks.'

'Stefan, are you ok?' I vaguely heard Elena's voice.
