Chapter 23

Shikamaru Nara pt 1

"It's your turn now Shikamaru." said the older woman looking at the future Nara Clan head she knew very well that the Nara heir didn't like this at all after all he thought he knew what his future had in store for him and didn't expect any surprises after all he expected his life would be boring well as borning as a shinobi life can be and he was happy with that.

'He is in for a surprise.' thought the future woman as she looked at the man her future husband trusted with his life as well as the girl that would become his future wife and remembered everything they went through to be together and how hard they fought for the happy life they were living.

She hoped they would be together again even now after they knew everything she didn't doubt they would try and deny their feelings after all they were stubborn like that.

'I believe they will work again.' She thought they were perfect together both of them completing each other and nothing should be able to work against them at least she hoped that despite this knowledge they would still face a lot of difficulties from every side.

The shadow manipulator sighed and walked forward he wasn't all that interested in what was going to happen in his future he would do what was expected of him but he had to do it and better now than wait longer.

His opinion was always that if he had to do something, it was better to get it done than wait and this was something he had to get done as soon as possible.

He touched the globe and the screen again lit up and started showing a vision of the future.

The screen showed the young Nara heir now older had finally abandoned the standard infantry attire, instead wearing a cream-colored coat and black pants very similar to what his father, Shikaku wore.

He had also grown a short goatee and wore brown gloves, no longer having earrings in his ears. He also wore a necklace, one that appeared to be an enlarged size of the earrings he wore during his time as a jōnin. Overall, he greatly resembled his father.

He looked clearly wiser sitting down with his legs crossed with a shogi board in front of him. In front of him was a younger boy who looked even more like his grandfather even more than his son with the only difference being the fact that he had beautiful teal eyes that were clearly inherited by his other parent.

Shikamaru was looking at himself and the boy in front of him who was clearly his son and he didn't know what to think he clearly knew that he was going to get married and have a family one day in the not-so-far future after all it was his duty as clan heir but he just can't imagine who he could ever get married and he couldn't relate the love he saw in his eyes for the boy in front of him with something he was able to feel it was something he had seen in his parent's eyes when they looked at him so he knew it was possible he just couldn't imagine himself feeling it.

His parents were looking at the same thing they were so happy that their son was not only alive after all he was a ninja and the future was not guaranteed for them on a good day not with an apparent war around the corner but he was also clearly happy with a family of his own and they were really excited to know what they were going to see.

They wanted to know everything about their son's future, his life, and especially his family.

The two Nara boys were playing a game of shogi while it may appear they were not paying each other that much attention it was clear if you looked at them that they were looking and listening to everything the other said or did.

"You know Dad we can talk to each other without having to play a game with each other right." asked the younger Nara his teal eyes shining with laughter and a smirk on his face.

While he said that he actually loved doing this with his father especially when they were discussing serious topics and when he needed advice it helped him speak freely without overthinking everything (something he had inherited from both his parents.) as well as think a solution by himself by putting everything in the perspective of the game. Also, he loved playing shogi and would never miss a chance to play it with anyone, especially his dad who was only of the only people he had to struggle to win(It was hard being a genius).

The older Nara made his move before looking at his son and smiling in a serine way" I know that but this is more fun." it reminded him of the older shadow user of doing the same thing with his dad so long ago and while he wouldn't trade the life and family he had now for anything he missed his dad a lot and wished he was here to met his grandsons.

"You are right Dad." said the heir siling with the same smile he had inherited from his mother while making a move that left his father shocked

"That boy is good," said Shikaku looking at his grandson he was just amazed this was the first time he had seen his own child in this future vision and it was so surreal

"it's so surreal isn't it," said Inoichi looking at his friend he had felt the same way when he had seen his daughter suddenly grow up and have a family of her own far away from him though he was glad she was happy with someone who clearly loved her very much.

"Yeah I can't believe my son is grown up and has a child of his own I just can't believe it it doesn't seem real." said the black-haired man while drinking the sight of his now adult son and grandson who knows if he would be able to live to see this considering the business they were in and the apparent future war that was going to happen in the future

Shikamaru was blushing while listening to his father and many other people were chuckling including a certain air mistress.

The shadow user looked at everyone with a glare but everything stopped when he looked at the teal eyes of a certain kunoichi they looked for what seemed like hours until they heard a noise and shook their heads.

'That was weird.' thought both of them as they turned their heads away

"I won." said the Nara heir looking at the board game and then smirking at his father

The older man chuckled as he looked at the board and then at his oldest son" You have improved so much over the years." and while he hated losing to anyone he was extremely proud of his son and everything he had become.

He smirked again" I learned from the best."

"You know when you smirk like that you remind me too much of your mother." he said shaking his head" And it never spells something good for Me." the younger boys chuckled he like everyone else knew his father was whipped for his mother and would do anything for her

"What are you going to do now?" asked the older man

"I have been assigned the very important job of making sure the beloved future Hokage is alive to actually become the Hokage." Said the younger shadow manipulator his smiling face turning serious at a moment's notice

"Aha yes, that very important job." said Shikaku pitying his future grandson he had to do that same job so long ago and while hs grandson hadn't mentioned it he was sure that whomever that person was related to Minato" I remember having to do that too when I was younger."

"Yeah," said Fugaku" And we had it that during a war we are lucky we don't have more gray hair after everything he put us through."

"Oh please." said Tsume Inuzuka" You both of you," said pointing at the two clan heads" Got in just as much trouble without his help."

"I am right here I can hear you just fine." said the blond Hokage looking at his friends with a glare that didn't have any power behind it and with a smile on his face he loved all of his friends they were like family to him but those two had always been the closes to him.

They were the angel and devil in his shoulder, his brain, and his heart they had made him the man he was now he would have never become a good shinobi let alone Hokage if they hadn't been his right hand and his adviser.

"Do you think they are talking about someone related to the Fourth," whispered Ino to Shikamru the members of Konoha 11 nodded their heads that was the only possibility though they wondered who it could be

The other people there were also thinking the same thing they really wanted to know who this person was related to one of the most powerful men in their history.

While the Konoha heads were loving seeing their children's future and they were happy they were well they were getting extremely nervous the closer to the reveal of Naruto's identity they had spent years trying to protect him every time they saw one of his future the closer they came to putting one of the important people in their life in danger.

'Protect him for me too Shikaku.' Said Fugaku through the connection Inoichi had made between the old friends

The shadow manipulator looked at the dark Uchiha eyes and smiled while nodding he had promised when Minato had died that he would do anything in his power to protect the little boy and apparently, his son had also taken that job in the future.

The older man looked at his son with a serious look on his face he knew his son's position was different from his and even his father who both had wanted to protect Naruto and Minato Respectively before and after they had become the Hokage.

With him still doing that to this day but they had chosen that job while his son had known from birth that he was expected by other people to be the adviser of the Hokage like his dad and grandfather before him. While neither of them forced him he had naturally taken that role just like the generations previously.

" I'm sorry for putting you in that position you know if you ever stop wanting to do that all you have to do is speak, right? I am not going to put that pressure on you."

The younger Nara got up from his place freshened up his uniform and his teal eyes smiled at his father" I know that Dad doesn't worry I like my job and besides he needs me by his side both now and when he eventually becomes the Hokage because I don't know what would happen if I left the two of them alone."

"Why do I have the feeling that the other person they are talking about is your grandson Fugaku," said Inoichi looking at his friend

"Why do you think that." said the Uchiha crossing his arms and glaring at the mind reader" It could be any of your descendants."

The other people laughed as they looked at one of the most dangerous men in the shinobi world pouting like a child" I don't think so it was your job to put him in trouble." said Choza" And Shikaku's job to get both of you out of them."

"Are they talking about you?" asked Dan the blond-haired man making him jump

The younger man was shocked and stammering as he looked at the man he had looked up to all his life and whom he wanted to impress" Y-yes." he said after a while" But I promise I wasn't always in trouble and was a good shinobi."

'Great.' Thought the younger man as he looked at his dad 'They are making me look bad in front of him.' He had spent his entire life wanting to impress his dad and all that hard work was going down the drain

"I know you are there is nothing wrong with having fun." Said Dan he really didn't know why someone that apparently as close as a god for the people of Konoha was so insisted on making sure that he looked good in front of him or why his heart ached when he looked at the sad look on his face and why he wanted to comfort him and make him smile he had wanted to do the same thing with his sister, niece, and fiancé but they were the only ones and he couldn't understand why this man he had never met had his instincts screening to protect him.

As the younger Nara boy left to wherever he had to go the older one got up from where he was sitting and started walking towards the Nara forest.

As he walked deeper into the forest and past a number of Nara clan deers he stopped suddenly and smiled as he saw four deers that raised their heads when they head when they heard him coming.

'They are so cute.' Thought Temari as she looked at the little creatures on the screen but then she had to shake her head to remove that thought 'I can't be thinking that I'm a Kunoichi, not a little girl.'

She didn't know why this was happening to her she had spent her entire life making herself in the best kunoichi she could but the more time she spent seeing these futures the more she wanted more out of life she wanted both her and her brothers to be more than weapons for her father's use maybe it was the fact that she saw her future self being happy with some she clearly loved something she never thought she was going to have.

They started walking toward him he smiled again and started patting them paying special attention to one of them in particular his smile became bigger when he felt a presence behind him a presence he knew very well.

"Hello," he said as he turned around to look at the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in front of him
