This would have been one of my entries for the A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words "Back to School" Flash Fiction 250-word challenge if I could have gotten it done in time. Unfortunately, RL got a bit hectic and I couldn't meet the deadline. Even so, I decided to post my two (non) entries here. This is entry 1 of 2.

"Welcome to second grade, everyone. I'm Mr. Cullen, your teacher this year."

"Hello, Mr. Cullen," the class replies.

"We have an art project to work on today that we'll present at the back-to-school assembly tomorrow. Please come up to my desk and choose any letter from the pile. Then color and make it as artsy as possible by drawing whatever you want. When you're done, we'll add all the letters to a banner."

"May I please have A 'cause my name's Angela?"

With a laugh, Edward took out one of the As for Angela.

Ben raised his hand and asked, "Can I draw trucks?"

"You can draw whatever you want, Ben," Edward answers."

"Unicorns!" Jessica shouts as she jumps up and down.

"Unicorns sound great, Jessica."

"I just got a question mark," Mikey sighs.

"This banner is a question, so that's one of the most important parts, Mikey. Think you can handle the responsibility?"

Mikey smiled, nodded, and ran to his seat.

The kids worked meticulously on their letters for the next two hours while Edward worked on the small comma himself.

"Done," the kids shouted one by one.

"We need to glue the letters to the banner. Match your letter to the outline on the banner," Edward instructed.

The children glued their letters on and sat back in their seats. Edward held up the banner.

"Will you marry me, Miss Swan?" Angela reads. "Are you goin' marry Miss Swan?"

"Thanks to your help, I'm sure she'll say yes tomorrow."
