Prologue: Meeting before fate
Equestria, the home for many creatures that came in many different forms. Griffons, manticores, dragons, and many other creatures. But the ones that can be seen the most….were ponies.
Ponies were the main denizens of Equestria but this is mostly because there are three types of ponies that take up the land, seas, and even the sky.
Earth Ponies - the ones that were more in tune with the very earth Equestria is made of. Earth ponies are the more durable and hardworking ponies, and as such, most can be seen in careers that require physical strength, such as farming, transportation, construction, and so on.
There is also their connection with animals, as the animals themselves seem fond of earth ponies. Or rather, trust them much faster than any other type of pony around.
Some earth ponies find careers in animal care as they can handle the needed work, physical and mental, that comes with animal care
Most tend to be farmers of one sort or another and with how well they are seen working with agriculture with normal farming careers deal with both farm work and animal care. Many believe that Earth ponies are users of unknown earth magic to help them in their duties.
Unicorns - known for being gifted in the usage of magic. Unicorns are easily distinguished by the horn they have on their forehead and it is this horn that they use to channel their magic. This magic can come in many different forms, be it for destructive usage or passive.
Unicorns are not as physically adept as earth ponies but they make do with their talents in the art of magic, with one of the most used being levitation.
But magic is not a simple wave of the horn and the magic you want happens. It takes practice and knowledge of spells that the pony wishes to use magic effectively. It is because of this that many Unicorns are seen in more passive careers that require higher education or are more studious. Such as teachers or mages. One of the more seen are teachers that teach magic to others that wish to learn.
Pegasus/pegasi - the third type of ponies and denizens of the sky. Pegasi can be distinguished by the wings they have. These wings are where their strength truly lies as they are also seen as the more energetic of the three types when it comes to their talent in flight and showcasing their speed and agility in the sky.
Pegasi have their own form of passive magic that allows them to walk on the very clouds as if it is like any other ground. Not only that but they also have the ability to control the weather of the area they reside in, as such a good amount of them find careers that deal with the weather and forecast.
Other careers that benefit in flight are also among them, such as delivery and aerial transport for those who are unable to fly.
Canterlot: a city that held many different types of ponies and is well known for many high-class events.
But the thing that it is most known for is being where you would find the royal castle of the celestial sisters.
Celestia, controller of the sun, the eldest sister, and beloved solar Princess of the Pony kingdom
Luna, controller of the moon, the youngest sister, and Lunar Princess of the Pony kingdom.
These two princesses though, were not an earth pony, Unicorn, or Pegasus.
They were Alicorns, a special kind of pony that has the traits of all three.
Throughout all of Equestrian History, there have only ever been two Alicorns to ever exist.
Celestia: the eldest sibling of the two. She is a beautiful pony that had fur as white as freshly fallen snow with her feathers being just as pure and a vibrant pink mane that sparkled in its ever-flowing motion as if it was underwater.
Luna, youngest of the siblings that had fur and feathers as deep and elegant as the beautiful night sky with her main ever-flowing like her sisters but her's looked as if you had taken the very starry night and shaped it to be her mane.
If you were to ask any of the ponies that lived within Canterlot, they would tell you that Celestia is a kind and just ruler that loves all of her subjects and does what she can to assist in any way she can, whether they be from royal duties or when she is out among her ponies.
But if you were to ask what they thought about the youngest, there would not be much to say. No one saw the younger of the duo and there is not as much adoration towards her as there is for Celestia.
At least, that is how it is seen by one pony
Celestia was on a balcony using her power to lower the sun as her sister stood beside her, raising the moon to take its place. When this duty was done, Celestia yawned and turned to her sister as she spoke in a tired voice. "It is time for me to get some sleep. Good night, dear sister."
Luna watched as her sister made her way towards her chambers. "Good night, Celestia." Once she knew that Celestia was out of earshot, she sighed dejectedly. She looked down at all the ponies that were still out but it was clear that they were all heading home as the day had ended. It didn't take long till the last of the ponies had entered their homes to have dreams of her sister's sunny days. She looked up at the night sky as she spoke to herself. "Another lovely night it is…and yet not one pony gazes at the wondrous shades that cast upon Equestria." she shook her head as her eyes landed on her namesake. "Is it so wrong for me to wish that there are other ponies that see the beauty in you? To have my subjects look up to me as they do with my sister."
Luna had been feeling shunned recently with how despite being one of the two rulers of Equestria, she does not get the recognition as Celestia did. She felt that her subjects didn't even acknowledge her existence as when she enters the dreams of the ponies of Equestria to banish any nightmares that might grab hold of them, all of the happy dreams that she had seen were all under the glowing light of her Sister's sun. while the dark horrors that plague the nightmares are under her moon's light.
Luna gave a frustrated huff as she grumpily looked down at the homes of the ponies. "Why do they see my moon as a horror instead of seeing the beauty of it!?" she let out another huff from her nose as she continued to look down at the houses. But her anger turned to confusion as she saw something jumping from rooftop to rooftop. She narrowed her eyes at it but it was moving in a way that made it hard to tell what it was and it seemed that no pony was responding to his movements.
Though they were all in their homes and most likely asleep.
Feeling it was her duty to make sure that it was not a threat to her ponies, she spread her wings and flew down to the city and followed it.
Luna was looking around for any sight of the thing that was jumping on the rooftops as it had disappeared.
Whatever or whoever it was moved in an erratic motion and had no set path. She huffed in frustration as something in her peripheral caught her eye. She turned her head to see that it was somepony. Taking this chance, she flew over to this pony to demand what was its intention. She flew close enough to see that it was a stallion with his back turned to her.
His mane was black and seemed to fall in front of his eyes, while his coat was an orange tan. One thing that caught her eye was the black mark on his flank.
This mark was a sign of a "forsaken one". Forsaken ones are those who have found their talent and gained their cutie Mark but through some event, have given up on it. Ponies would never do such a thing as it is what the pony would strive for and most of the time achieved the means to do so. Forsaken ones are seen as tragic and usually are miserable in all actions they do. But it is very very rare for any to be seen as they tend to either disappear from everypony's sight or leave….through other means.
Pushing this info to the back of her mind, as she had a duty to fulfill, she flew closer before landing a few hooves away. She noticed that he still hadn't realized she was there and was looking left and right at the sky. She looked up to see what he must be looking at but all she saw was her starry night. Looking back at him she spoke. "What is thy intention to scurry the rooftops of our ponies!"
"GEH!" The stallion jumped in shock and slipped off the edge of the roof but was able to stay on by hanging off the edge.
Luna watched as the clot pulled himself up and she was able to see his face. From his appearance, he looked young. not within the teen years but early in the fold of adulthood. Her eyes met his clear blue ones as he looked at her in shock.
"Sheesh, either you are trying to kill me from shock or getting me to jump off the roof." he pulled himself up back on the roof before he brushed his shoulder with his hoof to get some dust off.
Luna was a little taken aback by his attitude toward her appearance. Normally, if a pony saw her or Celestia, they would bow in reverence, or in situations like his, they would realize that they were caught in something and begin to show signs of guilt. This stallion on the other hand acted as if this was just a normal interaction. It was the next thing he said that truly struck her.
"So, who are you?"
Luna took a step back as if she was struck. "Doust thou not know who we are?"
The stallion tilted his head in confusion. "Am I supposed to?"
Luna felt a pang of hurt in her heart that one of her ponies would not even know who she was. 'Am I so hated that ponies remove me from their thoughts?' she felt some moisture in her eyes at the very thought.
"Sorry, but I'm not from here so if you are someone important then I wouldn't know."
Luna was brought out of her thoughts at that as she asked. "Where was thy dwelling before coming here?"
The stallion shrugged. "I'm a traveler, I don't really have a place to call home since I have been on the road for so long."
Luna now had a look of understanding as to why he was not familiar with her. "Well, traveler, I am known as Luna."
The stallion nodded as he smiled at her. "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, Luna. but can I ask why you are out here in the middle of the night? One thing I learned from experience is that it can be dangerous to wander around at night."
She huffed in annoyance at the insinuation that her nights are what bring upon the danger. It is not her fault that creatures come out during her time. Focusing her annoyance at the stallion, she harshly asked. "Tis a question that I should be asking you. What wouldst thou be doing up here?" she stood upright as if to be as threatening as possible.
Not noticing the threatening tone she had, he turned around and pointed a hof into the sky. "I was trying to find a spot that would be good for stargazing. None of the roofs that I had tried are right. You'd be surprised how much the position you use can affect your sight of the sky." he looked left and right before taking a step to his right to check if it was better
Luna was flabbergasted at how he didn't even react to her normally intimidating voice, according to her sister, and turned her flank to her as if she was but a normal pony. But the thing that really caught her attention was that he was looking at her sky. "Star…gazing? You…..enjoy looking up at the night sky?"
The stallion nodded. "Yeah, the night sky is beautiful to look at, and looking up at the stars and moon is something I always enjoyed doing, even when I was younger."
Luna felt happy to hear there was somepony that enjoyed looking at her night sky and calling it beautiful.
The stallion looked over his shoulder at her and his smile dropped to a look of confusion.
Luna raised an eyebrow at his reaction and watched as he walked to the side while keeping his confused gaze on her. Her eyebrow raised even higher as he sat down a bit to the side before shifting his upper body a bit to the side as if to look at something behind her but then shifting back to looking at her. He did this a few more times till she asked. "What is it that thou are looking for?"
"...is your….uh….mane…..full of …..stars?" he tilted his head even more so as he tried to figure out if he was seeing things or it was as he was seeing. He wasn't sure if he was seeing things right when he looked at her but when he looked again, he saw the flowing shape of her main shift the stars there. At first, he thought that her mane was see-through and he was just looking at the stars that are in the sky but seeing the stars shift with her mane, he had to ask.
Luna looked over her shoulder to her mane. 'Thou really dost not know me." was her whispered reaction. Sure he had said that he didn't know her but his reaction and casual attitude seemed to have finally made it sink in. she nodded to respond to his question.
"Wow, that is amazing. I thought that I was seeing the stars behind you but it is cool to have a mane like that."
Luna stared dumbfounded at his reaction to her mane. It has been a very long time since anyone had complimented her mane. "...thank you."
The stallion smiled at her, with his gaze shifting to her mane before he went back to looking at the sky.
Luna stared at his back for a moment longer before curiosity tickled her. "What is it that thou are looking at?"
After a moment of silence, he responded. "I'm looking at the constellations. I see a few I know but I'm trying to look for others. I see Leo, Ursa Major, and Draco, but I'm having a hard time finding Ursa Minor, Leo Minor, and Camelopardalis."
"Ursa Minor is over there."
The stallion looked over his shoulder and saw her walk up to his side and gestured with her head in a certain direction.
Once she was right next to him, she pointed a hoof into the air. "Over there is where you can see Ursa Minor. In front of the head of Major, you can see the form of Minor."
The stallion looked back at Ursa Major and narrowed his eyes at where she had pointed. It took him a second but he was able to see one of the constellations he was looking for. "Ah! There it is. What about Leo minor?"
Luna smiled as she pointed back to Leo and spoke. "On the back of Leo is the Minor."
He tilted his head to see the form of Leo and then saw the form of Leo minor appear in his mind. "How did I not see that." he smiled wider as he was able to see it. "Now, where is Camelopardalis…." he looked around to find it.
"Well, for that one, it is…"
"Wait! Let me try and find it. Now that I know where Leo Minor and Ursa Minor are, I wanna see if I can find the last one myself."
"Luna found it humorous to see the stallion shift his head slightly to see if he could find it. He even tilted it to the side as it might help him try to see it. She covered her mouth with her hoof as he kept having trouble finding it.
He threw his hoofs in the air as he had no luck finding it "argh, I give up! Where is it?!" he turned to Luna with a slightly annoyed and almost pleading look.
Luna smiled at him before she turned around and pointed in the opposite direction of where they were originally facing. "About 55 degrees upward you should see the main body."
The stallion gave a strangled look of befuddlement. 'I was looking in the WRONG DIRECTION!' he shook his head before he looked up to see what he was looking for. "Huh, I was sure it would be in the same direction as the Ursas."
Luna shook her head as she could not drop the smile. "No. it is opposite to them." she then asked him. "May I ask, why ist thou so interested in the stars?"
The stallion gained a nostalgic smile as he looked up. "I've always wanted to go up there one day, to reach the stars. To see what is beyond the sky." his smile then slowly shifted to a wistful one. "But I soon found out that I wouldn't be able to achieve that. Stargazing is the closest thing I can do to what I wanted but it's enough." he shook his head to rid himself of his more depressing thoughts and looked at her. "So, what other constellations are there you can show me?"
Luna now realized what his Cutie mark might have meant and it hurt her as it was a fantastical goal. But she thought there was more to his reason to what he had told her but it was not her place to pry on such personal matters. She had already seen that he was not a threat to her ponies and was only looking for a place to look at the stars. And seeing that he was an earth pony and could not sense any magic coming from him, she chose to let it be….for now. But before she could continue the talks about her sky, she realized something. "Forgive me, but I have yet to hear thou name."
The stallion tilted his head till he realized that he hadn't introduced himself. "oh, sorry. I guess this visit was a little out of nowhere and with all that we talked about, I hadn't told you my name. You can call me Danny."
Luna was a little intrigued at such an odd name but she chose to keep that to herself. She moved to sit next to Danny and spoke. "Well, I can say that my favorite constellations are…."
The two sat there for a few hours longer as Luna pointed at several of the constellations that were visible that night, Danny looking in the direction she pointed out and trying to find the next one. It became amusing to Luna seeing how he seemed so sure about where the next one would be only to find out that it was in a completely different direction.
After four hours, Danny was unable to hide a yawn. "Sorry. I guess I have stayed up far too long, but I couldn't help but look up at the sky."
Luna felt a little despondent about this but she conceded that he might have not had any rest. "Forgive me. I suppose that I have taken enough of your time." she got up from her spot and sighed before looking at him. "Thou said that thou are a traveler, does this signify that thy are to move on?"
Danny shrugged. "Eventually, but I only just arrived here so I'll be here for a few more days, maybe a week." he walked to the edge of the building as he spoke.
"Than perhaps I shall see you again. I enjoyed our time discussing the stars."
Danny looked over his shoulder with a raised eyebrow. "You make it sound like you don't have anyone else to enjoy the stars. Some…pony like you should have plenty of others to talk to."
Luna was able to maintain a stoic visage but internally, she felt as lonely as he insinuated. Her sister used to be a form of comfort for her but now….. It got to her every time she was near Celestia
Danny looked up in thought before he shrugged. "Well anyway, I'm most likely going to be out again some nights so you might see me again. But I won't be on the same roof." he gave a cheeky smile at her as he said. "As you should know, stars are never in the same place every night."
Luna gave a small smile as she nodded. "So true. So I perhaps we shall meet once more."
Danny nodded. "Well, I look forward to seeing what you can show me next time. See ya later, Luna."
Luna's eyes widened as she saw him jump off the roof and she galloped over and looked over the edge only to see that he was gone. Looking around, she was still shocked to see that he was nowhere to be seen. This was odd to her but she didn't know how to respond to this. Jumping into the air, she flew up to see if she could spot him, but she had no luck. "What a strange pony." Now knowing that what she thought was a threat was nothing more than a late-night pony traveler, she flew back to the castle.
When the two were gone, one of the windows of the very house they were standing on opened with a pony with bags under his eyes poking his head out before looking up. Not seeing anything he grumbled out "urrrgh, lousy pigeons." he shut the window and went back to sleep.
Danny was now in a forest a good distance from Canterlot, trotting nonchalantly through the darkness of it. He thought about Luna and her knowledge of the stars and the location of the stars and their history. He was fascinated with how the origin of the stars came to be and was even more fascinated that there was someone that formed them.
He made it to a tall tree, looking at the tree's leaves before he jumped up and landed on one of the thick branches. He then plopped his back on the trunk as he looked at his hooves and poked them together. He clapped them together, making some of the clopping noise before he wrapped them around each other. He tried to pull them away but they didn't budge as if they had an iron grip on each other. After a few tries, he just gently separated them. He looked down to his right and reached over with one hoof and picked up a stick. He looked the stick over a few times as he gained a look of befuddlement. "How does that even work?" he then uncurled his hoof and dropped the stick as his head followed it down. He gave a whatever shrug before he shifted into a lying position. "Not the strangest thing but it sure has its confusing elements." he shut his eyes and chose to sleep as much as he could.
After all, he knew he wasn't going to get any abrupt wake-up calls.
Danny had been staying longer than he thought he would. What he told Luna was true, he wasn't planning to stay here long but something in his gut was telling him he needed to stay.
Now it had been a couple of weeks and he had only met with Luna a few times. But something he had picked up from her is that she seemed to become more and more frustrated about something.
After the third meeting they had, they began to talk about other things apart from stars. It started out in normal topics such as what there was around Canterlot. But on the fifth meeting, it seemed that Luna was becoming more and more frustrated and….angry. She at times began to make small rants.
Danny had trouble keeping up what she was talking about but from the amount he did understand, he figured that she felt like she was being tossed aside, metaphorically. Being shunned by everyone around her and feeling unneeded.
At one point, he saw that she was close to tears as she let this all out. He did his best to console her but he wasn't sure if he was any help.
Not only that but at the end of their last meeting, he felt that something was off about her. She seemed more hostile.
He sighed as he had no idea what was going on with her. At the moment he was walking through Canterlot streets and ignoring the looks from the other ponies.
When he first arrived in Canterlot, it was in the middle of the night, and hadn't run into any ponies. But during his stay in the forest and his constant entrance to the city, he had been noticed by many denizens and there were varying looks he gained.
Some looked at him as if he was a street rat, which he kinda was since he didn't have any place to call home and had been sleeping outside.
Some gave looks of concern as he at times looked like he hadn't bathed in days. But that was the first couple of days since he had been able to clean himself.
After that, he got a few curious looks from them and some of intrigue, which he figured were because they still couldn't figure out who he was and oddly enough some of sadness or pity. He didn't know why they gave him those looks but he shrugged it off as not important.
He had lost track of how long he had been here but he couldn't really complain, 'this was a vacation compared to his time before…..'
He was interrupted from his thoughts when two ponies walked in front of him, both wearing golden armor. "Uh…can I help you?"
The ponies eyed him up and down with their gaze landing on the black mark on his flank. They were able to school their reactions as one of the ponies cleared his throat as he spoke. "You have been summoned to the royal palace to meet with Princess Celestia."
Danny's eyes widened when he heard this before he looked around and pointed at himself. "Are you sure that it is me that has been called? I'm not that important. Or did I do something wrong?"
The second guard shook his head. "No, you have not done anything wrong, but you are the one that was summoned. So if you come with us, we will escort you." he turned to the side and gestured using one of his hoofs.
It was then that Danny saw that they were both Pegasi. 'They must have seen me from above but I still don't know why the princess would want to meet me.'
He had heard of Princess Celestia while he was in Canterlot and the ponies have nothing but positive things to say about her. But he would withhold judgment until he actually met her. But then again, he never thought that he would ever get the chance to meet her. Why would someone like her want to meet with someone who can be nothing more than a background character? There are a bunch of more interesting-looking ponies around him.
Danny followed the two guards towards the castle and looked around since he hadn't gone this way before. He had avoided the castle since he had a feeling that there was something here.
Something powerful
As he entered the castle, he looked around in awe at how extravagant it was. He felt that the castle was made for beings so much bigger than what should be needed for the ponies. Though he got his reason for why the castle might have been built in such a way as he saw a few Pegasi flying overhead. He paused a few times as they walked past a few rooms that had something interesting happening inside.
One room had a few unicorns using different spells doing many different tasks.
Another room had a few Pegasi flying around, moving things, or handing things over to another
He even passed a library that had the three types of ponies going around the shelves or reading at one of the tables with a couple of books next to them.
He continued to look at everything around him till he was brought up to a set of massive double doors that had another set of guards. Unicorn guards this time
The pegasi guards that had been escorting him nodded to them which set the unicorns to use their magic to open the door which Danny was gestured to walk in.
Danny obliged and walked in and it was as he stepped in that he started to feel extremely out of place as he was not used to being inside a place this fancy. He looked forward and saw who he could assume to be Celestia. She was sitting on a throne as she was in the middle of listening to a few other ponies that were discussing political matters that he had no real interest in.
Celestia was listening to an earth pony that was bringing up matters that might be beneficial to them. One of the propositions that were brought to her attention was the construction of a town not that far away from Canterlot. The closest dwelling from Canterlot was days away with flight but this had caused many issues with trades of business as traveling to another location through the Everfree woods had caused many attacks from many dangerous creatures. Timberwolves are the more prominent as they have a thirst for ponies. She thought about the ones that brought up the proposition as they required help from Canterlot so they could establish an area for the town. The idea had many benefits that could help in trades and bring in more ponies to live closer to her so they wouldn't have to travel so far and through so many dangers just to meet with her.
"To the proposition has not been given a stamp of approval and the ones that gave it are in no real rush to make it but I believe that it should be highly considered for it. This actually coincides with another proposition about a new form of transportation through the lands. A faster way to get from one location to another. The idea of it going over a set of tracks means that we would need to pave the path for it but depending on the size of the transportation, there is much potential for product transport as well. Though we would need to choose locations for where it would need to stop."
Celestia continued to listen to these new propositions until she looked up and saw that the one that she had summoned had arrived. "Ah, it is good that you have arrived."
Every pony looked over to see Danny walking towards them
Celestia smiled before she looked at her attendants. "We can continue these discussions at a later date, but right now I have a personal matter that I must attend to."
The other ponies bowed to her before one spoke up. "Very well, Princess." They straightened up before they all began to head towards the door Danny came through with a few of them giving Danny curious looks as they passed him.
Celestia walked down her throne and spoke to her guards. "You may leave us."
"Are you sure, princess?"
"Yes, I merely wish to speak with him so there is no need to fear."
Bowing, they left the throne room.
Danny looked over his shoulder at the retreating guards as he wondered what she would want with him. 'Ok, ruler of a kingdom calling a newcomer to her castle after staying here for a few weeks and possibly having no record of him. This is either going to be bad or really bad. With my luck, it's going to be really bad.' he shifted his hoofs to be ready in case he needed to bolt.
Celestia walked closer to Danny and could see the tension in his small actions. Her eyes shifted to the black mark on his flank and held her tongue as she did not want to insult him or bring attention to what might be a sad story. "There is no need to worry. I merely wished to meet with the pony that had been meeting with my sister during her nightly adventures."
Danny's tension immediately dropped as he tilted his head. "Your sister? Wait… you're Luna's Sister!?"
Celestia would have been stunned at how somepony did not know her but the look of astonished realization had her laughing. After a few seconds of this, she covered her mouth with her wing as a way to stifle them before she regained her composure. "Yes, I am Luna's sister…I.."
"Wait!" Danny didn't seem to notice that she had been talking as he began to splutter. "If you are Luna's sister….. And you are Princess Celestia…that means that Luna is a princess too?!"
This brought in another bout of laughter from Celestia. "Being the sister of a royal princess does make her a princess too."
Danny shook his head to get back to what was happening around him. "She never told me that she was."
Celestia gave him a curious look. "Well, I suppose that normally we wouldn't have to introduce ourselves since we are very well recognized." she spread her wings as a show of what she meant.
Danny looked at her wings before he remembered that Luna had her own set of wings and a unicorn horn. 'Oh, so that's why.' "Well, I'm not a resident of Canterlot and I have been on the road for a very long time. Didn't stay anywhere long enough to learn anything about rulers or anyo…pony important. This is actually the longest I have stayed anywhere since Luna seemed to need someone to talk to."
Celestia folded her wings as she took in what he had said. It was then that she realized that she still did not know his name. "Forgive me, I have yet to even receive your name."
Danny chuckled as he shook his head. "You and Luna did the same thing. My name is Danny. She also forgot to ask my name when we first met."
"And that is something I wish to know, how did you two meet? I only became aware of her visits into the city two weeks ago. After I found this out, I had one guard await in the streets to see what she was doing. Thankfully, the guard did not disturb you as he had told me that all the two of you did was look up at the stars and discuss the constellations and the formations that are created."
"Don't you think that spying on your sister is a bit much? I don't think she would like to hear that you are keeping an eye on her in such a way."
"Yes, that is true but as royalty, I fear that somepony might be taking advantage of her."
Danny shrugged his shoulders. "I see your point. But I didn't even know she was a princess and I am just a traveling pony that doesn't interact with many others. No real way for me to take advantage of some….pony." 'gotta stop doing that.'
Celestia nodded. "Facts that I was unaware of." she began to walk towards a balcony with Danny following her. "Which is why I asked for you to be brought here. I wish to know about the pony that had been meeting with my sister."
"Well, there isn't much about me that is interesting. I'm pretty sure that the only reason that your sister meets up with me is that I was skulking around the rooftops and she saw me. And in the end, she just thought it was fun to talk about the stars or…." he stopped himself from speaking out about Luna's little rants since they were personal to her. And there were a few things that Luna said that did seem to be about her sister.
Celestia noticed the pause but she wanted to continue talking about Luna. "regardless, I think it is good for her to speak with someone other than me as I am afraid that she does not speak to many in the castle." she looked over the balcony down at Canterlot. "Many of the ponies come to me when they have something that they want help with but I rarely ever hear of them coming during Luna's time in the castle."
Danny looked up at her and asked. "What do you mean? Speaking of, where is Luna? If she is your sister, shouldn't she be here?"
"Luna is sleeping. Since her duties are during the night, she sleeps throughout the day till it is time for me to lower the sun and for her to raise the moon."
Danny's eyes widened as he heard this. 'Wait….they control the sun and moon?! How does that even work? Shouldn't the planet be circling around the sun and the moon be circling the earth through the gravitational flow?' he shook off his confusion in time to hide it from her as she looked at him.
"Anyway, despite how you say that there is nothing special about you, your actions are enough. Recently, she seemed to seclude herself from me and I am not sure what is going through her mind. She won't talk to me anymore and I'm worried."
"Well, it might be good to sit down together and just try and get an answer. Though I'm not sure that it would be a good idea to force it out of her. She does seem a little angry about something but I wasn't able to get anything concrete about the problem."
"Which is why I am hoping that you might be able to help her in this issue."
"I don't know if I can. The last time we met, we didn't really talk. She just walked up behind me and sat down, not even looking at the stars or at me. She just looked down at the ground with an angry look. I tried asking her what was wrong but after the third time, she just huffed and flew off."
Celestia sighed. "I don't know what to do but I also don't know what the cause is so I am at a loss."
"Well, the way she made it seem, it was like she was being left out of something."
Celestia put a hoof to her chin in thought. "Hmm, I am not sure what it might be but if I can get the information out of her, I can help."
"I think that is the best thing you can do, but don't push it. As I said, she seemed to be getting angrier the more times I meet and I don't know what she will do if the subject is forced."
"True, but to help my sister, I will bring it up…delicately."
"Well, I hope you have better luck in helping her."
Celestia nodded before she looked back into the throne room. "I will do what I can and despite how much I have enjoyed speaking with you, I have duties that I have to return to."
Danny nodded. "Wel, being a princess must make you busy so I shouldn't take up your time."
She nodded as they walked back inside. "I would like to speak to you again at a later date. If that is alright with you."
"Danny grew embarrassed as he rubbed the back of his head with his hoof. "Well…..talking to a princess isn't something I thought I would do often."
"And yet you did it quite a lot when you met up with my sister." she chuckled at his embarrassed look
"Ok…you got me there. But I didn't even know Luna was one."
"And I thank you for that. Anyway, where can my guard find you when I wish to speak with you again?"
Danny paused as he tried to think of a spot he could frequent. "I think the best place would be the fountain in the center of town." he had seen it a few times during the night and figured he could go there in a few days in case Celestia wanted to talk to him again.
"Very well. I hope to speak with you again in a few days." she escorted him to the door before she opened it
"Sure, and I hope that you can figure out what it is that is bothering Luna."
"I hope I can as well." she looked to the Unicorn guard and requested him to escort Danny to the castle entrance.
With that, Danny walked away from the throne room with Celestia going back to her throne.
Neither of them noticed a starry mane moving back behind a corner down the hall
Celestia soon found herself enjoying Danny's company the more times they had met. He was a very nice pony that held no reservation in acting like she was any other pony. That was a breath of fresh air as she was used to her subjects bowing to her every time she walked into the room but Danny treated her as if she was just a friend.
A friend
Something that Celestia had very few of nowadays. She had many when she was much younger and didn't have as much status as she did now, but after she and Luna became princesses of Equestria, they became less like friends and more subjects under their rule. Now the closest one to a friend she had was Luna and recently, that was starting to feel strained.
But her time with Danny was something she enjoyed and could safely say that he was a good friend to her. And she was very grateful to him for being the friend that her sister might have needed.
But things seemed to have begun to fall apart between her and her sister since after she first met Danny, Luna seemed to isolate herself more.
She was hoping that she would have been able to fix up the relationship between them but it seemed that it was just getting worse.
Then there was the big argument they had.
Luna shouting at her, saying that she had stolen everything away from Luna and she would not stand for it anymore.
Celestia didn't even have a chance to speak as Luna had thrown her out and slammed the door shut. Not knowing what to do, she left Luna alone, not knowing that in doing so, she had lost her chance to change things
~timeskip~
Danny didn't know what was going on but the sky turning into a burgundy red with the moon covering the sun was a good clue that things had gone wrong.
Another month had passed from when he was summoned to meet Celestia and he soon became friends with the princess.
Much to the guards' confusion.
The second time they met, it was the same as the first. Trying to figure a way to help Luna out of her darkening mood. But after that, they started to have more pleasant talks about other topics.
Celestia even began to confide in him about some of the propositions that were brought to her attention. He had vehemently told her that he wasn't anything close to a politician and wouldn't be of any help, but her response to that was that it would be good to get an outside perspective on the matters. He ended up giving his opinion on them and she took his insight to heart.
Danny could now consider Celestia a friend as much as he would to Luna despite how Luna seemed to not care anymore about him.
After the meeting with Celestia, he had not seen Luna again. The last he had heard about her was the last time he met with Celestia, as the pink maned Alicorn, as he had learned they were called, told him about the fight that she had with Luna.
Celestia told him that Luna began shouting at her about how Celestia was doing nothing but look down at her and how everypony care nothing for her since the elder sister was hogging them.
Danny couldn't understand why this would bother Luna but he chalked it up to how he was used to not being noticed.
He was now running through the forest towards Canterlot and could see that there were several buildings damaged. He wondered what could have caused it but he got his answer when he saw blue and yellow beams being shot through the town. "Ok, guess I don't need to know where the trouble is." he began to run faster so he would be able to help
Celestia flew to the side to avoid a beam of magic blasted at her before she flew into a dive to avoid the stream. Spinning to the left, she pulled up and had the beam follow her so that it wouldn't hit any of the buildings below. She threw up a barrier around her to block the attack before she ducked under it and spun around the beam as she got closer to nightmare moon. Once close enough she sent her own blast at her and sent the dark mare to the ground.
Nightmare Moon glared up at Celestia before jumping up towards the sun princess at a speed too fast for anyone to see.
Celestia didn't have time to avoid the hooves to the stomach and grunted in pain as she lost control of her flight and fell. She was able to right herself in the air and weaved away from another blast aimed at her. Her eyes widened as she saw there were a few ponies on the street in the path of where the beam would go. Halting in front of them, she threw her hooves downward and made a shield to protect them. She held it up as she looked over her shoulder. "Run! Get to safety!"
The ponies nodded as they ran away from the fight.
Clapping her wings, she dissipated the magic beam and her shield before flying upward. 'I have to get this fight away from others. It is too dangerous to continue here!' she was hit in the back by another blast and crashed into the fountain in the middle of the town square. She gasped as she brought her head out of the water and looked to see Nightmare Moon land and walk towards her. "Luna, please stop this. We can still fix everything."
"The only thing that will be fixed is the number of princesses that rule Equestria!" The tip of her horn lit up as she planned on blasting Celestia into oblivion
"Luna?"
Both Princesses were startled at the sound of somepony else speaking and they looked behind Luna to see Danny standing ten yards away.
Celestia panicked at the sight of him as she did not know what Lu…. Nightmare Moon would do to him.
Nightmare Moon narrowed her eyes at the sight of him.
Danny was wide-eyed at the sight but his gaze shifted to the destruction around them. Once he assessed the damage he looked to Luna and asked. "What happened to you."
"Nothing that concerns you. Leave, and let me continue what I started."
Danny stepped forward as his gaze hardened. "Luna, what do you think you're doing?"
Nightmare moon stood tall as she walked towards Danny. Once she was in front of him and looking down at him she proclaimed. "I am taking my rightful place as ruler of Equestria."
"By attacking your sister?" he glared up at her, not feeling intimidated in the least
She lowered her head to his as their muzzles were inches apart. "There will only be one princess to rule. And everyone will love me as they had loved her."
Danny huffed at her. "I can't let you do this."
She threw her head back in laughter before she looked down at him condescendingly. "What makes you think you could stop me?"
"I'll do what I can."
Her cocky smile turned into a sneer as she took a few steps back. "So you stand against me, abandon me, like before.' she thought back to when she saw Danny come out of the throne room with Celestia with him. It was when she saw this that she thought that Celestia was stealing her friend from her and that she had succeeded.
"Luna, don't do this." despite the hard look he had on his face, there was a plea in his voice. He knew what was about to happen but he still had to try.
"If you stand against me…"
Celestia finally got up on her hooves and lifted her head to see Nightmare Moon charge up her horn. "Danny, Run!"
"Than you must be removed!" Nightmare Moon sent a beam directly into Danny's chest and blasted him across the street, into a heavily damaged building, causing it to collapse on top of him.
"Danny!" Celestia flew over to the collapsed structure and began to remove it piece by piece to get him out of there.
Nightmare Moon impassively looked at the scene. Despite her doing it, something in her hurt but she tossed it aside.
Celestia moved a support beam off the pile before she was blasted away. She impacted another building with a grunt and fell to the ground. She tried to lift her head but was too distraught to do so so she shifted her eye up to see Nightmare Moon walking up to her. 'This is no longer my sister. Luna would never do that to anypony, let alone a friend.' she felt a tear fall from her eye at how bad this situation had gotten.
Nightmare Moon looked down at the Celestia as she lit her horn up. "Goodbye….. Celestia."
Celestia did her best to move, but with the injuries and burns she had and how distraught she felt, she found it almost impossible.
Nightmare Moon had a manic glee in her eyes as she was about to fire till…
"Ok, I'm going to feel that one tomorrow."
Nightmare Moon and Celestia once again turned their heads to the one that said that and saw Danny standing out of the pile of rubble.
Danny had some scuff marks and a slight mark on his chest where Nightmare had hit him but apart from that, he was acting as nothing happened. He looked at Nightmare moon with his look of determination. "I wish I didn't have to fight you, Luna, but it looks like you won't listen to anything I say."
Nightmare Moon scoffed at the idea of this Earth pony fighting her, an alicorn. "And what chance do you believe you have against me."
"I don't know…." he gained a cocky smirk as he shifted his hooves. "Let's find out." he closed his eyes as a halo of white light appeared around him and separated into two with one going up while the other went down his body. As they passed him, his fur changed from its tan color to pure pitch black, his main wet from black to a pure snow-white, his hooves turned changed to be the same white color as his mane. But it was the additions that were just as shocking. As the rings passed his body a set of wings appeared on his side, with the frame of the wing being just as black as his fur while the feathers were as white as his mane.
His cutie mark, which was once a black shape on his flank turned into a flaming D with the negative space of it shaping to a P.
The top ring passing his head showed a black horn appearing as it passed.
Danny's eyes shot open to show that they had changed from the ocean blue they used to be to a neon toxic green.
The two sisters gaped at the sight of another Alicorn appearing in place of the earth pony they knew.
Nightmare moon took a step back in shock as she asked. "What….what are you?!"
Danny smirked at the look of shock coming from them as he answered. "I'm a Phantom." he launched himself at Nightmare Moon before he slid on his back under her and used his hind legs to kick her into the air. Spinning on his back and shifting back to his hooves, he sent a blast of green energy out of his horn and the still elevating Nightmare.
Nightmare Moon was hit by the blast and fell in an arch down towards another building.
Danny moved over to Celestia and helped her get up. "You okay?"
Celestia could feel the chill from his body as he helped her get to her hooves. Once she stood up straighter, she looked him over. "What…?"
Danny shook his head as he knew what she was about to ask. "We don't have time to talk about what happened to me, what happened to Luna?"
Celestia knew her curiosity would nag her but he was right, they had more important matters. Looking in the direction of where Nightmare Moon fell, she answered. "The negative emotions that she had been harboring all this time has taken hold of her and manifested itself into this…. New persona."
"Wait…. Bad feelings can do that?"
"I am unsure exactly how it happened but if I had to guess, her alicorn magic took form using these emotions and shaped into this."
Danny gave her an incredulous look but was brought out of his thoughts when he heard a large crash and screaming coming from where Nightmare Moon was. Looking in that direction, he saw her fly into the air, and with his superb eyesight, he could see the fury in her eyes. "Is there any way to help her?"
"There might be a way to expunge the darkness from her but…" she didn't have the time to finish her statement as she and Danny had to jump to the side to avoid a blast aimed at them
Danny flew into the air and looked around the town to see that the ponies were still there. Hiding or looking for shelter. He called out to Celestia as he kept his gaze on Nightmare Moon. "Celestia, you need to get everypony out of here! I'll try and keep her attention on me while you evacuate the town and then get the thing that can help Luna!"
"But are you able to hold her off that long?!"
"Do what you need to do!" he flew off to clash with Nightmare Moon head-on.
Celestia watched as Danny flew off to fight her sister and prayed that he would be able to handle this. Despite how he turned into an alicorn himself, she didn't know how strong he was and knew that Nightmare moon would not be holding back. Looking around at the ponies still hiding, she called out to them. "Every pony! Head towards the south and evacuate Canterlot. If you see a pony on the way, tell them the same. I will be sending guards your way to escort you!"
The ponies that heard her got out from their hiding spots and began to make their way in the opposite direction of the fight in the air.
Celestia looked towards the battle and panicked as a beam flew in the direction of the ponies. She flew forward and threw up a shield to block the attack. Looking back at the scared ponies, she spoke "keep going! I shall defend all of you!" seeing them begin to rush, she looked through her shield at the two flying figures. "Good luck, Danny."
Danny did his best to keep the blasts she sent going upward, but evading them can force him to change direction. 'I really hope that Celestia brings whatever she needs to stop Luna.' he threw up a barrier to block a sweeping beam before the energy used in the barrier condensed into his horn before he fired it at Nightmare Moon.
She stopped her attack and sent another blast to counter his. Once the two canceled each other, she focused her magic into ethereal swords before sending them at Danny while keeping one next to her.
Danny yelped at the sudden change and swerve his body to avoid being skewered by any of them. He looked at where the swords went and muttered "I never thought about how a shishkabob would feel and I really don't want to know." he turned back to Nightmare Moon and yelped in panic again as he ducked under another sword that was swiped at his head. He saw a few of his hairs fall off his head and winced. "Next time I want a haircut, I'll avoid the blacksmith." he flew back to avoid another swipe from the sword. He glared at Nightmare Moon as he shifted left and right to avoid the swipes she was throwing at him. Focusing his energy on his horn and lowering his head, he swung his head upward in a way to clash his horn against the sword. Putting more strength into his movement, he shattered the sword into magic particles. But due to his head being forced upward, his body was open to attack and he was hit in the chest by a stream of magic.
Nightmare Moon kept the stream up as she wanted to end him. All the while, something buried inside was screaming for her to stop.
Danny was being pushed back by the blast and winced as it kept going. He slowly began to push against the blast till his forced flight came to a stop as he struggled to push his front hooves forward on the beam. His hooves fully extended before he sent a blast of his own at it to force it back
The two beams clashed till they were evenly matched
Nightmare Moon though forced more power into her attack and her blast increased in size and pushed back.
Danny gritted his teeth as he tried to push back on the struggle but it soon became apparent that it was useless at this point. He threw his hooves forward to catch the beam and was soon being pushed back. 'Should… have….tried…. To see…. If I had…magic….too!' he soon felt his back hooves hit the ground and did his best to stay upright. He felt his back hooves dig into the ground as he put all his strength into pushing the beam back. 'Ok, time to change tactics!'
The beam then enveloped him and crashed into the ground, causing an explosion
Nightmare Moon cackled at the sight of her victory. "Now, to deal with my dear sister."
"Really? And I thought we were having fun."
Nightmare Moon looked behind her to see the very pony she was batling. Floating there with his hooves crossed. "How did you avoid that?!"
Danny shrugged. "I have my ways." he was really glad he was able to phase through the ground as the force of the blast threw him deep and almost out of the way of the explosion. His front legs felt like they were made of jelly from him pushing back on the attack but it isn't the worst thing he had ever felt. "So, any more tricks up your sleeve?"
Nightmare Moon snarled at his cocky attitude as she spun around and flared her magic. "Let me show you!"
Danny brought a hoof up and made a come-here gesture. "Well, if you want to show me, you gotta catch me!" he bolted down towards the street and looked back to see that his plan worked as she chase after him. He was glad he had speed in flight as they were flying ridiculously fast. He swerved as a few beams were sent his way. "Nice try! But maybe aiming would help!" he lowered his head as a beam flattened his hair. He let out a breath as he muttered to himself. "Ok, here we go."
Nightmare Moon glared at the insufferable stallion and saw him turn into an alley. She flew in after him but came to a halt as it was a dead end."
"Not that way! This way!"
She turned around to see him at the entrance of the alley, waving at her before flying into another alley. She flew after him but it was the same as before.
"Over here!"
This time she looked up to see him looking over the edge of the roof and flew after him. Once she got out of the alley, he was nowhere to be seen.
"Down here!"
She snarled down at him as he was hiding behind a piece of rubble. He ducked under it as she blasted it only for nothing to be there.
"What are you looking at?"
This time he was leaning on the corner of a building as he looked at where he was before.
"I mean, it is a nice piece of rock."
Another blast was sent and he ducked around the corner to avoid it
This kept going for another ten minutes with Nightmare Moon's anger rising
Nightmare moon was fuming now as she wasn't able to crush this single pony. Her anger spiked as she heard him speak again but this time, she couldn't pinpoint it as it sounded like it was coming from all around her and echoing.
"You really shouldn't get angry. It isn't my fault that you are going into dead-end alleys and shooting at random things all around you. Hahahaha."
"YAAAAAARRRRRGHH!" she dropped to the ground and unleashed a massive beam and spun in a complete circle, causing the stream to destroy everything around her.
Danny, who was inside one of the buildings, flattened himself on the ground as the stream flew right over him. 'Ok, maybe pissing off the powerful pony that can use magic wasn't a good idea.' once he heard that the destruction ended, he peeked over the tiny wall that was left of the building he was in, only to find a hoof slammed into his face. He flew back at the strength of the attack and left a small trench in the ground. "Ow." he then felt a hoof pressed into his chest, hard, and looked up to see Nightmare moon glaring at him.
"This ends now, you insufferable nuisance."
He couldn't help but smirk up at her. "Isn't the worst thing I've been called."
To her shock, he disappeared from sight and her hoof slammed into the ground. "Teleportation?! ARGH!" she was blasted in the back and turned to see Danny flying in the air.
Danny smirked as he was able to keep the fight away from others, but he was hoping that Celestia would get what she needed since he wasn't sure he would be able to stop Nightmare Moon. He looked over his shoulder to see the castle but no sign of Celestia. 'Hope she…' he couldn't finish his thought as he was slammed by Nightmare moon.
She took advantage of the single moment that his attention was away from her and tackled him at full speed. Being an Alicorn she was more adept in magic combat, but now, in her anger, she began to throw hooves in hoof-to-hoof combat. Though she had some experience in that as well
Danny was stunned by the sudden tackle and was unable to block the hard hits to his face and stomach. Getting his bearings, he got back into the fight as he blocked a hoof to his face before slamming his into her side.
The two continued to exchange hooves as they were enveloped in an orb of magic that was a mixture of the energy they were using. The orb flew in an arch towards the castle with neither of them knowing where they were going.
Danny was able to connect a flurry of hooves at her before she brought her hind legs up and kicked him away.
The force of the kick sent him threw the castle roof that was now under them
Celestia was glad she had run into a few of the still conscious guards and had them escort everypony out of the city. It took some time but the city was now bare of anypony, save for the three Alicorns.
She flew into the chamber that held the Elements of Harmony as these were the only things that she knew could banish the evil that has taken hold of Luna. "though I don't know if I am able to use these myself." she jumped as something smashed through the roof and crashed a few feet away from her.
"Her hooves aren't as painful as her blasts but I'm still going to feel that in the morning."
Celestia saw Danny pick himself up from the small crater he made and rub the top of his head with his hoof. "Danny!"
Danny looked at her in surprise before he smiled. "Oh, good. Did you get what you needed?"
Celestia pointed to the planetary statue that had several different colored jewels floating around the center sphere.
Danny looked at them and nodded. "Good, then you can use them to fix Luna."
Celestia had some doubts about that statement. "I am not entirely sure, they can save her."
Danny spun to her with an accusatory look. "What?! You said that it could!"
"I don't know if they will work with just me. The previous time they were used, it was both me and Luna that used them to their full potential."
Danny face-hoofed as he grumbled to himself. "Why can't anything be simple? Why is my luck so bad?" he groaned before he looked up through the hole he came through. "So what's plan B?"
Celestia grimaced as the contingency came to her mind. She didn't want to say it as it would be accepting the chance that she would have to do it. Swallowing her hesitation she spoke. "...banishment….to the moon."
Danny looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Is that possible?" seeing her nod he mentally gave up. 'I don't get the way things work here.' he jumped up to float a few feet in the air and looked at her. "What do you need?"
Taking a breath she gained a determined look. "I need one clear shot."
"Then you're going to get it." he flew through the hole to continue the fight with Nightmare moon.
Celestia turned to the elements as she focused her magic on the gems and soon had them encircling her. "Please let this work."
Danny flew up to see Nightmare moon waiting for him. "Afraid of coming after me?"
"I will not fall for your tricks again."
Danny clicked his tongue. "And I was hoping we could continue the game."
Nightmare Moon eyed him as she flew in place. "You are powerful and have skill in combat. Join me, I could use someone like you as my right hand when I finish Celestia off and take over Equestria."
Danny was a little surprised at hearing her offer him this. 'Why is it that there is always a villain trying to give the "join me" speech. You just fought me and you think that giving me an offer to be on the evil side would really get me to say yes?' He noticed that below them, Celestia was making her way behind Nightmare Moon so she could hit her from behind. Figuring he could stall enough he asked. "Why would you need me?"
"With your power, no one would dare think to resist my rule. Your unique ability to confuse the enemy with your …frustrating tactics, can bring many down to their knees. And it would benefit you as you would have status worthy of a unique Alicorn, such as yourself.
Seeing Celestia fly up into position behind Nightmare Moon, he shook his head and lit his horn up with energy. "Sorry, but as a designated good guy. I am obligated to tell you 'no'."
Nightmare Moon glared at him and was about to attack him with magic but felt a surge of magic behind her. Looking over her shoulder she saw Celestia charging up the Elements of Harmony. Reacting quickly, flapped her wings to fly backward and shoulder tackle her sister. "Did you think I would give you the chance to use those on me?" she blasted Celestia into the ground and continued to bury her sister into the ground.
Danny flew at her and slammed his back hooves into her to get her to stop. "You forget that I'm here?"
Nightmare moon recovered before flying at him. "You shall fall along with my sister!"
Danny curled up and leaned back as she came at him and mule-kicked her higher in the air. "I think flying makes that very hard to do."
Celestia dug herself out of the ground and looked up to see the two flying around. She turned her head to follow her sister's movement as she was trying to find a time to use the Elements. 'I won't be able to use them if she doesn't stay still long enough.' she flew low as she tried to follow from below.
Danny had to avoid the tackles Nightmare Moon was using as she was now in an orb of magic that hurt far more than he thought it would. "I really got to see if I can use Magic like that cause this is taking longer than I would have liked." he barely dodged the next strike as the force of it caused him to flail in the air. "Woah!" He caught himself in the air and saw her coming at him. Thinking of what he could do, it hit him that he could make a shield around him and threw his hooves to the side as he was enveloped in a green and white orb. The impact sent out a shockwave to the surrounding area but Danny was able to stop her momentum, though with some difficulty.
Nightmare Moon pushed harder into his sphere as she could see that he was doing his best to hold up, though she was in the same boat.
Danny glared into her eyes as he focused on keeping his shield up. But something caught his eye. Behind Nightmare Moon, close to the ground, Celestia was charging up the Elements as this was a good chance for it. He had noticed how she was tracking them with her eyes and figured that she wouldn't be able to hit a moving target. Shifting his gaze back at Nightmare, he smirked as he brought his arms in before throwing them to the side and causing his orb to explode. And thankfully had the effect he wanted
Nightmare Moon dropped her sphere of magic and was slightly stunned by the sudden explosion. She looked up at him but froze as she felt another surge of magic. Turning around she saw her sister trying again. She was about to flap her wings to fly higher but soon found herself restrained from behind. "What!?"
Danny wrapped his arms around her shoulders and restrained her. He gritted his teeth as she struggled to get out of his hold and her wings were making it hard to stay in one spot but he was doing his best with his own flight. "Do it!"
Celestia saw her chance and had the gems circle around her before the star gem floated in front of her. Beams of magic came from each gem and concentrated on the star gem before Celestia shot a beam out of her horn into the star and a rainbow beam shot out from it.
The beam flew at Nightmare Moon and struck her with Danny feeling the force of it from behind.
Celestia focused on expunging the darkness from Nightmare Moon and getting her sister back. But she immediately noticed something wrong. "It's not working."
Nightmare Moon was feeling the force of the attack but she began to channel her magic to counter it and send a blast of her own. She had heard what her sister had said and smirked as she channeled more power into her horn.
Danny heard what Celestia said and gritted his teeth to keep the Mare in his hold still. "Then PLan B!"
Celestia heard Danny and went wide-eyed. "But in your position, you'll be caught in it as well!"
"DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!"
Celestia felt her eyes water before she pushed her sorrow back and channeled more magic into her attack.
Nightmare Moon saw the rainbow blast gain more power and get closer to her before she channeled more power into her own. But she lost focus when a green blast hit her in the back of her head.
"Looks like I will be joining you after all."
Nightmare Moon was hit again by the rainbow blast and this time she couldn't stop it. "NOOOOOOOOO"
Danny smirked as he felt the force of the attack.
The rainbow blast flew at breakneck speed and towards the moon in the sky. Once the beam impacted the moon, the surface gained an image of a mare with a barely noticeable stallion behind it.
When the dust Cleared Celestia was panting from exhaustion as the attack took a good amount of magic out of her. She pushed herself off the ground and looked around to see that she was alone. "Danny? Luna?" She knew that calling for her sister was a hopeless endeavor but she still hoped that some miracle happened. Danny she was hoping was able to get out of the way of the blast and was just tired from the fight. She looked around for any sign of his white mane as it would have been the most prominent part of him in a dark area. "Danny!?" she trotted around to see if he was behind a piece of rubble or turned over furniture that ended up around them. After a minute of looking, she finally looked up. It was the sight in the sky that caused the stream of tears to fall down her face.
There on the surface of the moon was the sign of her greatest regret. The image of a mare and the faded one of a stallion behind it.
"They're gone…." she bit her lower lip as she tried to hold it in. "they're…really gone…." After staring at the moon for a minute, she could no longer hold it in. "AAAAARRRRRRGGGHHH!" She sobbed as she just banished both her dear sister and a newly made friend who sacrificed himself to save them.
She cried as her rainbow mane flowed behind her
End of chapter
The first thing I want to bring up, I got the idea for the "forsaken one" from the fic "Luna's hero", which was done by several other writers. With the most recent one being a one-shot from Thewhitetitan. It is in his Phantom hearts fic. The original story is up for adoption and it was given the open invitation to take it up.
But the forsaken one is the only idea I had taken from it.
If you want a visual of what Danny looks like, look up "A new Alicorn joins" by Artisfan26, me! On Deviantart. I drew it some time ago when I was inspired by another mlp Danny phantom fic
Ok, I have only ever skimmed the first season of my little pony, so I had to discuss a few details with a full fan of the series to make sure I got a few things right and some clarifying. One thing he brought up was that Celestia's mane has always been rainbow, but I had seen the music video "lullaby for a princess" and I chose to use the pink mane thing from that.
When I was making this, I had the thought of making them anthropomorphic but then I realized "what would be the point?" it would have made it easier for grabbing stuff and I would be more comfortable with "legs" and "fists", that sort of thing. But I just said, meh and went with the normal pony bodies.
Danny phantom I am much more knowledgeable about but since this is based in the MLP universe, updates will be very slow.
And one thing you readers should know is that other chapters will not be this long. Originally, the prologue was going to be a couple of chapters but it ended up as one long chapter. And I'm still iffy on the first half of it.
don't know if there will be a pairing
