"...Can you please tell me what are you trying to research or build here?" The soft sound of a piece of paper being placed on the desk met the ears of his mentor teacher, whose face was plain as day, while the standing young man's eyes were tired, and there was a dark bag beneath them. Adam William could only resign himself to the inevitable.

"Yes, ma'am. I would like to develop a program that can help people manage their administration at local stores." His tone was strained behind his mask, and he knew she was going to reject his idea for the fifth time.

Her sigh escaped from her mouth as she gazed at him with dead eyes; he knew that look – she didn't like his idea. He shuffled his black hoodie with his hands uncomfortably under her stare.

"Adam, this idea seems too easy for your last project, and I can't accept it... You have a great mind compared to your peers; I'm sure you have other plans or ideas to research or build something more complex."

'No... No I don't...' Thoughts raced through his mind as he fought off his migraine, his expression was lifeless, and his mentor granted his friends a free leeway, while he was the only one receiving special attention.

He can't blame her; he couldn't fault her for caring about him since she didn't want his future career ruined.

"Come back to my office tomorrow; I'll help you find some more ideas, and I'll guide you through them. I don't want to see you wasting all these years at this school." Her expression softened, and she genuinely cared about him.

"Thank you, ma'am." He said those words before leaving her office and walking down the quiet hallway with his bag.

His footsteps filled the silence of the building with each weak step, moving toward the exit. His face was illuminated by the sun, which he shielded with his hand and squinted through his tired eyes. He walked to the parking lot, where there were no vehicles except for his motorcycle. He walked towards the jet-black bike and grabbed the key before turning the engine on. He prepared for departure.

The roaring engines of a motorcycle zoomed past on the road of the city; the biker's mind was troubled by the events that had unfolded earlier. His friends were already on the halfway mark to finishing their projects, while he was the only one left to find a project to build or research. Truly, it was a bad day for him.

Honestly, it's been a bad year. Not just for him, but for everyone, including the pandemic and a potential full-blown war between great nations. Few years ago, a virus named COVID-19 was spread across the globe, causing hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of deaths; no one knew where the virus came from - it just popped up seemingly out of nowhere. Everyone had to work from home until recently, after receiving a vaccine.

There was tension between Russia, China, and the U.S. as they accused each other of where the virus originated. There were also conspiracy theories that it was a biological warfare, but deep down, everyone knew that they were pointing fingers at each other because the food and resource supplies were running out. From there on, everything went downhill.

The big mobilization, cyber-warfare, and proxy wars seem to make it look like Cold War 2.0, and he hope it doesn't turn into a World War 3.

'Why don't they just sit down and have a nice chat while sipping some coffee or tea? What the fuck is the problem with that?' He thought while riding his bike, as the road turned into a bustling crowd full of people and vehicles after a few minutes. It seemed like a traffic jam, and he didn't know what caused it. Many drivers got out of their cars or bikes as they decided to check what was blocking their way and complaining about it; some of them were angry because they had been waiting for hours, and of course, Adam checked it too, curious as to what was going on in front of the road.

"You need to get out of here! Don't go this way! Turn around, now!" Adam heard a shout from a man who seemed to be blocking their way as they were slipping through an angry crowd. Arriving at the scene, he saw many spikes on the road, and in front of him stood a man wearing casual clothes. How the hell did he get that tools? He didn't know, but he could tell that the people didn't like it.

Another man wearing formal clothing approached the man blocking the road with spike traps, shouting in fury, "Get that thing off you fucking asshole!"

"No! You don't understand! Get off this place now!"

"Why should we!? This is a public road, what the fuck is your problem!?"

"Just listen! Please! Get out of this place!"

"I'm sick of you begging without some explanation-!" The suited man grabs his collar and wears an angry expression before throwing him out of the way and beginning to fold the traps, with the others following suit.

"No! Stop! Please, don't do this! Else you're all going to die!" The man's words made everyone stop what they were doing and look at him. The suited man's expression was confused before a furrowed his brow in anger, and he walked over to the man, grabbing his collar.

"Stop playing! What the fuck are you talking about!?"

"T-The lost truck from weeks ago-!"

"Well, I don't care! You think blocking the only path to my house was a great idea!? Pack your problems elsewhere!" The suited man yelled back at him as he shaking the begging man' body in deep anger while Adam watched them in the distance and remembered that in some news, the truck had been carrying some furnitures is lost, so what's wrong with it?

"You don't understand! You need to get out of this city, now-!"

Then a great explosion sounded loudly from afar deep within the heart of the city; the people, who were focused on the begging man, suddenly turned towards where the explosion came from. A bright flash erupted and scorched the sky almost blinding them, it unleashed a shockwave and violent tremors beneath their feet as the wave of destruction came at them fast, engulfing and destroying their existence without much of their horror reaction.

A growing fireball bloomed on the horizon, consumed all life and reduced the city into nothing.

For the first time, Adam William, opened his eyes and saw he was in some... Grass? Sand? Forest? He didn't know; it looked like it was a mix of all three. He stood up slowly, gathering his thoughts on what had happened earlier.

'Right... We were being nuked even though our country didn't have anything to do with the conflict. Is this some kind of after life?' He thought to himself as he started walking and exploring the land. He soon came across a strange tree and rock formation; the sky was white, like it was raining, but there wasn't a single drop of water in sight.

Until he found a figure... a few metres away that was looking upon him; the figure looked shattered, with a bit of white and almost no lines, he couldn't make out what it was.

He walked up to it slowly and carefully, saying, "Uh, hello? Are you the owner of this place?" But the figure just stood there and looked at him. It didn't have a face much less a body. The figure looked at him as if scanning him, trying to determine whether he was intruding on its territory.

Adam wanted to back away; he didn't like that stare, and he wanted to ask again, but before he could do so, the figure cut him off and spoke in a voice that sounded like it came from nowhere and everywhere all at once.

"What do you see?" It looks like pointing the horizon of nothing but white.

"...Uh, nothing? I don't understand."

"Can you read this?" It asks, showing up a words from thin air. They look like Chinese characters, but aren't. The right side resembles Russian, but isn't. The left side has Latin script, but it's too archaic for him to decipher. And the Last one were Old English.

"...Why are you telling me this?"

"Why can't you?" The figure asked again, dismissing his question.

"Because I don't understand Chinese, Russian, Old English, or Latin."

"But this is are not any of those. Don't you have skills to do so?"

"No... I think you got the wrong guy."

"What is the difference between Fate and Destiny?"

"Uh, it's the same...? Why are you asking and telling me all of this?"

"...This is troubling; it seems you're not the one. However, there is no time."

Then a hot, searing pain struck his brain and mind; he gripped his head in agony, his eyes bulged out, his mouth opened wide, and screamed loudly as he fell to the ground, shaking violently. The figure just stood there, while his scream reached across the lands. An image began to appear before him, like a frame from a video he had watched or seeing his photos from his phone one by one, but this was neither one of those – it was like stuffing all the images into his head at once.

He saw many people with animal, devil and angel parts.

He saw innocent people being hunted down and left for dead by everyone else.

He saw a village being burned down and massacred by some leather-coated and ushanka-wearing people wielding ancient, sharp weapons.

He saw a cunning noble man manipulating behind the scenes.

He saw a female fire dragon burning everything in her path.

He saw a pope talking to an angelic man with side halo.

He saw a child being experimented on in some lab.

He saw a man in a full coat and ordered his soldiers to endure sacrifices endlessly.

He saw a city under siege.

He saw a pink-haired woman die for her people.

He saw unfamiliar lands filled with crystals and meteors raining down upon the city on the horizon.

And Adam saw everything, second by second, as the visions stopped after a few seconds. He clenched his eyes and jaw, trying to ease the pain in his head while his heart beat rapidly. Fear and anger filled him as he looked at the figure.

"What was that!? What did you do to me!?"

"Past, present and future. What you see are Terrans creating chaos and destruction on their own world. I have a task for you, and if you complete it, you will be granted a wish of your choice. Anything."

He swung his arms violently at the figure way, his face filled with fury. "The hell with that! Who do you think you're ordering me around?!"

The figure looked at him, scrutinizing the black-haired young man. "I am the Observer, as well as the Guardian of fate and destiny of these creatures. Because of the laws of higher beings, I cannot help them; I need a third party to intervene before their destruction becomes reality."

After hearing the answers, he took a deep breath and calmed down, gazing at it with hatred, but he decided to bite his tongue because he couldn't do anything about it; he knew if he continued, he would only make this higher being angrier and deep down, he wanted a second chance to live a life after those events.

"Fine, what do you need me to do?"

"A simple quest, yet, not many can fulfilled it. With the informations that I give to you-"

If it had a hand, it would point toward him as if choosing him for some greater task.

"-You will help and guide them towards the rightful path. Change their miserable destiny with the best of your abilities."

Adam wants to retort back of how he's just a normal human, but the figure continues talking as if it doesn't care about his opinions; it stretches its limbs like wings toward the horizon of nothing.

"There is no future for them, as they have been destroyed. You will not die of old age until you complete your task, and I will give you my gifts for your journey. You do not know what they are, but eventually, you will discover what my gifts are along the way."

Adam's body slowly disappeared into nothingness; he looked at the figure in panic and fear. He tried to talk, but he couldn't - it was like something was holding his throat from speaking. He tried to move, but he couldn't, as if something were holding his place. All he could do was watch and listen to the figure talking. His eyes shrank in fear of what would happen next.

"Good bye, Adam."

The only thing he saw were black.

Deep within the forest, the young elafian girl was running from a hail of arrows. She was panting heavily and panicking as the multiple footsteps squad of Ursus army troops trailed or chased her, their crossbow-wielding weapons aimed at the fleeing girl.

Their positions were compromised; many Kazimierz knights were killed by the Ursus' overwhelming military strength, either by having artillery dropped on their heads or being engulfed by a wave of the Ursus' foot-soldiers, leaving the city completely defenseless.

The arrows whizzed out past beside her head as she dodged them all with the best of her abilities; the elafian girl could only run from their might and search for a place to hide from those soldiers.

'There!' She shouted in her mind as she threw herself to the ground and slid to the nearest giant tree to hide herself from being found. Leaning against the hard wooden tree, she listened to the sound of many footsteps passing by her, leaving her unharmed. By sheer luck, they left her alone. She could still hear their leader yelling from afar.

She sighed in relief and dropped down to the ground in despair; they had failed, failed to hold back the invasion. She could only hope the militia on her town would successfully evacuate the innocent people. As she stood up to leave, she spotted a man lying on the ground wearing a black hooded jacket and a bag slung over his shoulder nearby; her eyes widened at the possibility of finding another survivor from the attack. She ran over to check on him.

Upon arriving at the scene, she saw that there were no deep wounds or torn clothing on him; she sighed in relief for the second time, knowing that she had truly saved someone. It was truly a lucky day for her.
