Chapter 1
STEVE'S POV:
This past week has been horrible. It was the marking of my adopted son's birthday and the day I went into the ice. I adopted him back in 1932. He was four when I adopted him and he had just turned 10 when I went into the ice. Ever since I had come out of the ice, I wondered what had happened to him. Did he grow up happy? Successful? Who took care of him? Did he die of old age or is he still alive somewhere in his 80s or 90s? All these questions rattle around in my mind from time to time. But sometimes some questions spoke louder than others: Did he blame me? Did he still love me after the accident? It hurts to know that my questions will never be answered. Every time I remember I wasn't there for him while he was growing up sends a pang of guilt and pain through my heart.
The only one that knows about my beautiful boy is Bucky. I will tell the others in due time, but right now it hurts way too much. Because not too long ago, for me at least, he was still a 10-year-old boy ready to celebrate his birthday with me. As much as I love my beautiful boy, it just hurts too much to speak about him. I can still remember the times that my baby boy would run into my arms to give me the best warm hugs ever, or his squeal of laughter and happiness when he saw 'his' uncle Bucky.
But for today all I have to do is get through this last meeting. After this meeting, I can lock myself up in my room to mourn the loss of my beautiful son.
Oh, how this was far from the truth…
Bcuky and I try to hide our pain from the others and act as if everything is fine, but it's so hard. As everyone was making their way to the conference room, I just felt that maybe today will get better somehow. I just knew it. As soon as we were in the room we can see Director Fury already sitting at the head of the table. When we were all sitting down, he began to speak.
"We have apprehended someone who could well be a terrorist. We need you to interrogate him and bring us some answers as to who he is and what mayhem he could cause." Fury informed us as he handed me the file of the suspect in custody. I open the file and read the name. My eyes widen and my mouth drops in shock. I couldn't believe my eyes. The name that is written on the file: Percy Jackson.
My eyes immediately shoot to the picture of him. As soon as I see his beautiful sea-green eyes I knew. I knew that this is my little boy. He's alive! A huge smile broke across my face.
"Steve? Are you okay?" Bucky asked concerned and confused. That was when I noticed that I had started crying a bit. I couldn't form any words. I just handed him the file, ignoring the questioning gazes from everyone else and the tears rolling down my cheeks. Bucky had opened the file and had looked for less than a minute before he was out of his seat with a huge smile on his face. He looked more alive than I have seen him in a very long time.
"When will he get here?! And where will he be located?!" The question was directed towards Fury. "He is already here. He's located in interrogation room 173 down the east corridor." As soon as Fury finished speaking both super-soldiers were out the door running to the interrogation room. We were running as fast as we could towards my little boy. As soon as w got to the room, we looked into it using the one-way glass. And there inside the room was my little boy bruised and handcuffed and changed to the table.
I felt rage build in my chest at seeing my baby so bruised, and I could tell Bucky was angry too. That was when I noticed that Fury and the others had followed us and were now in the room too.
"Why is he so beat up?!" I asked in an angry tone with a hard glint in my eyes. Fury raised his eyebrows in surprise at his tone, while the other Avengers looked at him in shock. "He was being very uncooperative, so we had to use force to get him here."
3RD PERSON POV:
Steve's eyes hardened more. "Who is the agent that hurt him?!" Everyone was in shock minus Bucky who looked just as angry. All Fury did was gesture toward Natasha. Steve looked at her with an angered and betrayed expression. "You would willingly lay your hands on a 16-year-old boy?!" Natasha looked at him shocked for a moment before putting her mask up, "I was only doing my job."
Steve clenched his fists looking ready to punch something. "You know, you're lucky that I don't lay hit women… but don't consider yourself my friend anymore." All of the Avengers looked at him in surprise and Natasha had a look of hurt in her eyes. "Agent Romanoff was only doing her job, Captain." Fury stepped in trying to diffuse the tension.
Just then Steve punched Fury hard. Not hard enough to knock him out or anything, but enough to where he fell to the ground and his face would definitely bruise.
"STEVE!?" All the Avengers shouted in shock. Fury looked up at Steve in utter disbelief, he never imagined getting punched in the face by Captain America. "Give me the keys to his handcuffs. Now!"
Natasha then stepped in, "We can't do that Steve. He is suspected of being a terrorist!" Steve only looked at her with a hardened gaze, "You don't get to call me that anymore. You can only refer to me as Rogers or Captain. You are no longer a friend of mine. And I didn't ask for your input or why he was being held here. I demand those keys."
Natasha looked at him shocked finally losing her mask. When Steve realized that they won't give him the keys he pushed past everyone and went into the room with his boy.
PERCY'S POV:
As soon as the door opened my head looked towards it. When I saw my father in all but blood I froze. I knew he was alive and that he was a real superhero now. As well as Uncle Bucky, but actually seeing him again is so different than hearing stories. Oh, how I missed them so much.
"Percy?" As soon as I heard his voice, I was snapped out of my thoughts and I tried to stand up only to be pulled back down by the handcuffs and chains. My dad was immediately at my side and he snaps the handcuffs off my wrist being careful to not accidentally hurt me. He then bent down and snapped the chain that is tying my leg to the chair.
After the chains and cuffs are off me he pulls me into his arms and holds me tightly against his chest. "Dad? Is it really you?" My voice made me sound so small like I was 10 years old all over again. I hated it. I hated sounding so weak. In war, you learn that if you're weak, you're already dead.
"Yes, my beautiful boy. It's me. I'm here now and I'm never letting you go again." He said into my hair holding me tighter against his chest.
STEVE'S POV:
As soon as my son was in my arms it was like everything in the world had faded away. All that mattered was the little boy in my arms. He's safe in my arms. "Dad? Is it really you?" His voice sounded so small. Like he was 10 years old again. It made my heart ache. "Yes, my beautiful boy. It's me. I'm here now and I'm never letting you go again." I reassured tightening my grip around him to prove it was really me.
After a few more moments I feel Percy stiffen in my arms and look towards the open door and standing there is Romanoff and Bucky. I hesitantly let go of Percy and straighten my posture. Bucky immediately ran to Percy and picked him up as if he weighed nothing.
Percy let out a sound that I have not heard in forever. His bubbly laughter filled the room from Bucky's actions.
I then noticed Romanoff holding a new set of chains and cuffs. I glare at her ferociously, "You are not putting those on him!" Natasha only shook her head, "He has to be handcuffed during interrogation Rogers."
I see Percy stiffen a bit at her words making me feel extremely protective of him. "I already said that you are not putting those on my son!" Natasha stiffened and looked at me in shock. It's clear that she didn't hear me and Percy when I entered the room.
"Your… son?" She asked in shock. Steve gave a stiff nod not happy with her at all.
3RD PERSON POV:
Everyone was in shock. Steve had a son? Since when? How come none of them knew of it?
