A/N: Found this little story in my notebook just sitting there all alone, so I thought I'd type it out and publish it. It's another Bull Jason/Izzy. Enjoy, Angels.
It's bright when Jason Bull opens his eyes. He groans as he looks around at his surroundings through blurred vision: a beeping heart monitor, white walls with the scent of antiseptic in the air, a woman with dark hair sitting in the most likely uncomfortable hospital chair beside his bed, a hand in his own.
"Izzy?" Jason asks in confusion. Why is my ex-wife here? He asks himself as he feels his glasses being placed on his face by his ex-wife.
"Hey, Jason." She says softly, her voice is soft and gentle.
"W..why are you here?" He asks her, squeezing her hand. He watches as his exes smiling face morphs into anger.
"You had a heart attack on the courthouse steps for Christ sakes, Jason, where else would I be apart from here? Do you know what I felt when the hospital called me to tell me that my ex-husband had a heart attack, when Benny called me absolutely frantic? Do you?" Izzy demands as her tears flow down her beautiful face. She makes no effort in wiping them away as she turns his head to face her. "Do you know what was running through my head as I was driving here? I almost crashed my car twice because I kept thinking of the worst. I was thinking that you had died on those steps all alone, I was thinking about all the mistakes I'd never get to rectify with you." Izzy tells him, almost hysterically. Jason lifts his free hand and wipes a few of her tears away with the pad of his thumb.
"Iz, I'm fine, I promise. I'm right here, I'm alive." He says softly. Izzy shakes her head, tears still fall down her face. "And what if you weren't alive?" His ex-wife snaps at him angrily. "What if you had died? Would you know what would happen to me if you had died? Would you know what I'd do if you had died? Would you know what I'd go through if you had died?" Izzy questions him. Jason shakes his head in no: he didn't even want to think about what Izzy would go through if he had died. Izzy takes a breath, her anger diminishing a little bit.
"Jason, we might not be married anymore, but I still care about you. Hell, I," Izzy stops herself from speaking which immediately piques his interest.
"You what?" Jason pressed her gently. Izzy sighs as her tears finally stop, for now at least. Izzy removes her hand from his as she looks at him.
"I still love you, Jason and divorcing you was the worst mistake of my life." Izzy admits with a smile before she kisses him, Jason kisses her back until she pulls away, cupping his face in her hand.
"You are never allowed to have another heart attack ever again." Izzy orders him firmly. Jason nods in agreement. "I'm serious, Jason. I can't lose you again. I lost our daughter, I lost you once and then I almost lost you again today. I cannot lose you for a third time." Izzy begs him. Despite how serious she sounds, Jason can't help but chuckle.
"You won't lose me, Izzy, you've never lost and that won't start now. I promise, I'm not going anywhere." Izzy nods as she slips off her jacket and shoes. She looks exhausted. "Come 'ere." The Trial Consultant says, opening his arms for the woman he loves. With Izzy in his arms again, Jason feels himself falling asleep just as his ears catch the words 'I love you, Jason.'
He's always loved her and she knows that.
A/N: This Izzy/Bull ship is one of my favourite ships EVER, I have more stories about this couple, some happy, some not, keep an eye out for them, Angels.
