TIME: 10:00 AM
Soaring between the clouds and the bright yellow layer of chemicals at the edge of Popstar's atmosphere, the Halberd was a sight to behold. A mighty airship sporting Meta Knight's face. It was half the size of the king's castle, and even had top of the line security measures. It was a flying fortress, fit for the mighty knights who called it home. Many secrets and trophies of adventures past lined the halls and filled the rooms.
Kirby had arrived a few minutes early, so by 10:00, him and Meta Knight were already in the ship's training room. "Well, Kirby, are you prepared to begin your first day of training?" asked Meta Knight. "Okay!" Kirby replied. "EXCELLENT!" Upon yelling this, Meta Knight threw a sword into the air, which pierced the floor. Suddenly, glowing letters materialized above the sword, with a little triangle pointing toward the sword itself:
GET IT!
V
"TAKE THAT BLADE AND STRIKE ME DOWN!" Meta Knight boasted. His boasting, however, was met with an irritated glare from Kirby. "Do I have to use a sword?" he asked. "every time I fight you I have to use a sword." Meta Knight was offended. How dare Kirby denounce the most noble of all weapons?! "How DARE you denounce the sword! Your insolence has enraged the…"
"…"
"… you have a point." Meta Knight admitted. Fine, choose another weapon. Upon pressing a button on the wall, a shelf of weapons rose out of the arena's center. Swords, crossbows, rifles, maces, deringers, boxing gloves, flamethrowers, katanas, small bombs, large bombs… It was an impressive assortment of weapons. For some reason, they also had various messages hovering above them, such as "BLAZE 'EM,"" TAKE AIM," and "DEFEND YOUR HONOR." Kirby thought for a little bit. Then he walked over to the flamethrower.
"Ah, yes, the flamethrower," said Meta Knight. "A large weapon with little honor, but still a very powerful one. Did you know archeoligists have actually found relics bearing a heavy resemblance to modern guns and flamethrowers? Of course, the relics were all magical rather than mechanical, but…"
"…"
"Oh."
Kirby had turned the flamethrower to point into his mouth, and was… firing it… directly into his own mouth. Kirby's inhaling abilities baffled Meta Knight. He never figured out how it worked, why it gave Kirby his copy abilities, or where the things he ate even went. All he knew is that Kirby wasn't curious about it, and it had defeated lots of threats, so there was no real reason to question it. Suddenly, Kirby's head erupted in light, generating a massive flaming mass surrounded by a nice little golden band. "Okay," said Kirby, putting the flamethrower back on the shelf and wiping his mouth. "Let's do this!" "Ah, fire ability. A bit non-traditional, but I suppose it is refreshingly different in a way. Very well then! Let us battle!" Meta Knight said as he charged towards Kirby.

"I win again!" Kirby did a quick reprise of his patented victory dance as Meta Knight pulled himself off of the floor. Somehow, Kirby had beaten him 22 times in the past 2 hours, counting multiple breaks to rest and glue the two halves Meta Knight's mask back together. "Don't worry," Kirby said. "You almost had me! Best 23 out of 25?" Meta Knight got himself up, holding his mask's two halves to his face. "Kirby, let this be your first lesson:"
"The only thing worse than admitting defeat is denying victory. Never be ashamed of your own strength. You have defeated me, and that simply gives both of us reasons to train harder." "Okay," kirby said, disregarding Meta Knight's lesson and feeling ashamed of himself for beating him. He always bested Meta Knight. It couldn't be good for his self esteem.
"How about we try something else? I think I have some history books I can read to you."
"Great!" Kirby managed say while maintaining a look of interest. After all, who has time to read these days?
