Chapter 2
A Dying World
Micaiah sat in her room, depressed. She walked over the window, opening the curtain partly to let a small sliver of light into the dark lair. "It seems life here at Garreg Mach is the same old, same old.", she mournfully said. Closing the curtain again, she walked over to the door and opened it, walking gracefully into the corridor where she was greeted by a man with spiky white hair wearing a red jacket and a black shirt alongside dark grey trousers and red shoes. His eyes were also mismatched- his right was red whilst the left was green. "Hey there, Micaiah.", the man said with a curt voice. "Why hello to you too, Ragna.", Micaiah replied. Looking at Ragna's right arm, she asked, "How is the Azure Grimoire now?". "Can't complain. Obviously, I'm grateful for what you and Rhea did, helping me control the thing and preventing me from turning into the Black Beast, not to mention patching it so I can activate it without worrying about draining life from innocents and my friends. But still, I can't stop feeling like it's now incomplete for some reason, like it's no longer responding to me properly.", Ragna replied. Then, all of a sudden, Mio came running in. Upon reaching Ragna and Micaiah, she stopped running, panting heavily. "Good, I've found you.", she said, exhausted. "You OK, Mio? You seem to have run a marathon trying to find us.", Ragna said, concerned. "Thanks for your concern.", Mio responded. "It's just that Seteth was calling for you and Micaiah. He's waiting in the Audience Chamber.", she continued. "What could that old man want with us now?", Ragna asked, exasperated.
Meanwhile, in a serene room with purple and blue stone and a floor forged of red, blue and cream stone, a man with green hair, green eyes and a green beard wearing a purple tunic waited. "So, Lord Seteth, what it is you want to talk about?", Dimitri asked, clutching a wooden lance nervously. "Don't be stiff, Dimitri. It's possibly about all these Incursions we've been having, but we've been able to fend them off easily.", Claude said. "Still, to think that a divine foe has the power to threaten multiple worlds forcing us to effectively kidnap and conscript a young man from his own world just to protect our own.", Edelgard mused, dagger and axe in hand. "Well, it seems Ragna and Micaiah are late. No matter, they can just catch up later.", Seteth began. Turning to face Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude, he said, "Now, as I'm sure you're aware, our world is dying. It is believed that the Incursions YHVH visited upon the Multiverse are the culprit of all the distortions we're seeing- for example, active volcanoes in Green Hill Zone and ice freezing over the Dannagh Desert. Not only that, but Gormott is beginning to dry up like Mor Ardain and Indol is beginning to experience strange raining seasons. Regardless of what is causing these strange weather patterns, what's causing them needs to be stopped no matter the cost.". Suddenly, Ragna and Micaiah rushed in with Mio in tow. "Are we late, Seteth?", Micaiah asked. "Well, you're not early by any means.", Seteth replied.
As Seteth explained that the distortions were threatening to consume Nintentopia, a group of knights hurriedly rushed into Garreg Mach's entrance. Among them was a young man with neat blue hair and blue eyes wearing a dark blue tunic, a white cape, a silver shoulder pad on his left shoulder, dark blue legwarmers (the left one being covered by a white trouser leg) and white shoes. "So this is Garreg Mach Monastery, huh? Nice place.", he said. "Milord Chrom.", said the deep voice of another knight, the person in question having brown hair and brown eyes and wearing white and light blue armour. "We're certainly not in Ylisse anymore.", Chrom observed from the architecture. As if on cue, a soldier in armour then walked up to them. "Greetings, Sirs and Misses! Nothing to report!", he said excitedly. "I'm sorry, but who are you?", Sumia asked. "Oh, me? I'm just a normal run of the mill monastery Gatekeeper, but you can call me Gayt Keepah, Gayt for short.", the young soldier said. "I-I see. Well, nice to meet you, Gayt.", Chrom said.
As Chrom and Sumia walked further into the monastery to identify where the gemstone they picked up was, they eyed a blue hedgehog with green eyes and a peach stomach and peach arms and legs wearing white gloves and red and white shoes relaxing in the garden. Noticing them, the hedgehog got up from his seat. "Hello there. Nice weather we've been having.", the hedgehog said. "And who are you, friend?", Chrom asked. "Just a guy who loves adventure. I'm Sonic- Sonic the Hedgehog.", the hedgehog responded. "Well, if you love adventure, Sonic, why are you here?", Chrom asked. "Well, it's a funny story. I had defeated this strange purple moon with an AI my enemy on this island and had just parted ways with my friends. I was running back to society when I saw this strange portal on the water; entering it, I found myself in this familiar field of green; after I touched this giant golden ring with a red star in the middle, I found myself here. And no matter what I do, I can't really seem to escape, like this place considers me an eternal resident of this place. Freaky.", Sonic explained. "And where are your friends now?", Sumia asked. "Well, that's just it. I don't really know where they are. I only hope that what's happened to them is not what's happened to me.", Sonic replied.
Shortly after, in a nearby forest, a strange young girl wandered out of a strange clearing in a haze. She had short blonde hair (the back being braided into a bow) and blue eyes and was wearing a black hoodie with red designs and a red bow alongside black stockings with a snowflake design and black boots. Noticing Sonic in the distance, she exhaustedly walked further, determined to get to Garreg Mach if it was the last thing she did. "You OK?", Sonic asked. "Yeah, I am, thanks for asking.", she replied. "What's your name, anyway?", Sonic asked. "Naomi Randall.", the girl replied. "Nice to meet you, Naomi. I'm Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog by the way.", Sonic said. Suddenly, the two were interrupted by a young man with teal hair and blue eyes wearing black armour with a salmon pink design, black boots and black gloves. "Oh, Your Majesty King Byleth. What can I do for you today?", Sonic asked the man. "Wait, you two know each other?", Naomi asked. "Know him? Ha! He's the King of Fodlan and a former Professor at the Officers Academy at Garreg Mach.", Sonic explained. "I'm alright, Sonic. By the way, who is this girl?", Byleth said with an unusually light and wispy voice. "Nice to meet you. My name is Naomi Randall. I'm a 2nd Lieutenant in the OSF.", Naomi said. Just as suddenly as Byleth's appearance, a strange dark red wormhole appeared in the sky. "Darn. Looks like another Incursion happening.", Sonic grumbled. "Stay focused. It could be anything.", Byleth said, grabbing a silver sword. To the trio's surprise, though, the one to come out of the portal was not an eldritch horror but a young man with brown hair with a tuft sticking out of it and brown eyes wearing a black collared skintight jacket with short sleeves, black fingerless gloves, black trousers with a red belt and reddish-black boots; accompanying him was a young woman with pale skin, dark grey hair and light blue eyes wearing a white kimono and white socks with equally white flip-flops. "Who are you?", Byleth asked. "Oh, hi. My name's Naoto Kurogane. I'm searching for something called the Azure.", the brown-haired man said. "And who is the woman next to you?", Byleth asked, indicating the woman in a kimono. "Oh, that's my friend Yumi. We were trapped in this phantom of a field; we sensed something odd happening. We went to investigate and ended up here.", Naoto said. "Nice to meet you.", Yumi said, curtseying. "Wait, you sound like someone I know named Hanabi.", Naomi said. "Oh, do I? I guess I do.", Yumi replied.
Around the same time that Naoto and Yumi arrived in Fodlan, Mio was walking through a strange desert, running into a man with black hair tied into a ponytail and blue eyes wearing a black bodysuit and a red jacket alongside black boots. "Welcome home, Mio. I trust you had a pleasant journey to Fodlan.", he said. "I did, Noah. Thanks.", Mio said, tenderly embracing him. As the two hugged each other, out came four other figures- a burly man with grey metallic skin, short white hair and red eyes wearing a black sleeveless coat with a white fur rim, a grey t-shirt and dark grey trousers alongside black metallic boots; a woman with short light brown hair and blue eyes with wings in her hair wearing a black and green hoodie, a black bodysuit and black shoes; a considerably younger looking girl with black hair with blue flames at the tips and yellow eyes wearing a short blue denim jacket with a black bra with a yellow rim and blue denim bottoms exposing her midriff and blue lines running all over her body and white boots; and a black man with messy dark brown hair and brown eyes wearing a white jumper with a black zipper, black trousers, black socks, white shoes and a long orange scarf. "It's good you've back, Mio, but we've got daily Incursions to deal with.", the black man said. "Oh, come on, Taion, can't you just appreciate that she's safely returned?", the young girl asked indignantly. "Sena's right, Taion. We should be grateful that a portal could open from Garreg Mach to the Dannagh Desert safely.", the man with metallic skin said. "Besides, Lanz of all people knows how tricky opening the Space Bridge is for non-Cybertronians. We're lucky it was stable enough to facilitate travel between Fodlan and the Fornis Region at all.", the brown-haired woman said. "Right, Lanz?", she said to the man with metallic skin. "U-Uh, yeah, Eunie.", Lanz replied back to the brown-haired woman. "Anyway, we should get going back to Colony 4.", Taion said.
Meanwhile, in a run-down looking colony, a silver-haired woman with blue eyes wearing a black and silver coat and silver boots walked through a heavy industrial complex. Approaching a man with white hair, grey eyes and tanned skin wearing a suit of black armour with a blue mantle, black gauntlets and black boots. "How's the Space Bridge doing, Alphen?", the woman asked the grey-haired man. "Well, Ethel, it seems to be working. After all, Mio was safely returned to the Fornis Region.", Alphen replied. Suddenly, a dark red portal appeared. As the portal just as unexpectedly glitched, through it came a group of dark grey humanoid robots- each and all of them had a dark red triangle where the "head" would be and each had a lanky build that was also paradoxically quite top-heavy, with the robots also having sharp and angular shoulders and sharp prongs as substitutes for their arms and legs. Feeling unnerved by the robots (as they had a feeling that though they were just machines, they also felt somewhat…alive as well), Alphen grabbed the silver sword on his back instinctively. Following his lead, Ethel summoned two blue swords- one of them longer than the other and the other being a glorified dagger. "Well then, after you.", Ethel said. "Alright, follow me!", Alphen exclaimed. The two leapt at the robotic soldiers, ready to attack.
Arriving at the run-down colony, Noah sensed a strange feeling that just made him feel wrong. Hearing the sounds of Alphen and Ethel fighting in the distance, Noah, Mio, Eunie, Taion, Lanz and Sena rushed off to help them. Noticing the six, Ethel barked, "Don't just stand there! Help us!". "With pleasure!", Noah replied, summoning a red mechanical sword, prompting the others to summon their weapons in kind – Mio summoning two white chakrams, Eunie summoning a rod that doubled as a sniper rifle, Taion summoning white flying origami, Lanz summoning a ridiculously giant sword that could also be used as a shield and Sena summoning a giant hammer. "Ouroboros, charge!", Noah roared.
The story continues in the next chapter.
