After witnessing his father's death, Barry was filled with rage and was ready to kill the monster who had taken him from him. He sped after Zoom and was determined to take down this madman once and for all. They fought around the city through streets and alleys, running up buildings until Barry finally got the upper hand and started beating the life out of him.
"Go on, Barry. Embrace your anger," Zolomon says as he begins to phase his hand.
Barry knows he just witnessed his father's death at the hands of this man, but still cannot bring himself to kill him. That decision is taken from him when a Zoom speedster arrives and kills his time remnant.
"Let me do it for you." Zoom says and removes his mask while Barry is confused when he had the time to create him.
"So close, Barry," Hunter said to him. "You see, Barry, there could be two of you. You just have to be willing to kill yourself. You're almost ready." He commented before speeding off and pushing Barry to make sure he didn't follow.
It rained the day of Henry's funeral.
It was fitting - the sky and gloom matched the expressions on everyone's faces and the darkness of their clothing. Caitlin wore the same black dress she had worn at her father's funeral. It still fit, and it seemed right, somehow, to put it on after all these years.
Barry found her wearing it as she was putting up her hair and tugged her into a hug. They stood there for a while in front of her mirror, both dressed in black; his chin rested on her shoulder, and her back was against his chest.
The graveyard where Nora was buried was bobbing with black umbrellas as everyone stood around Henry's fresh grave. As they walked up the grassy hill, Barry took Caitlin's hand.
"I had wanted to bring you here," he said softly, his voice cracking. "To come see my mother. But- but not like this."
She didn't know what to say, so she just squeezed his hand and stood close to him as the minister started speaking.
He said in his soothing, deep voice, "Comfort us today. With the Word of Your promise as we turn our brother to the Earth. And leave us with the hope that one day...we'll meet again."
Iris stood with Cisco under one umbrella, and her eyes dropped to the mound of dirt beneath which Henry Allen lay. Harry and Gwen stood under another umbrella; Gwen was wearing the same outfit she had worn to her father's funeral just last year, while Harry wore the same outfit he had worn for his father's funeral. Joe took a shaky breath, and Peter's hand tightened once more around MJ's. MJ was wearing an outfit similar to the outfit that she wore to her own mother's funeral. Bobby stood near his best friend, but gave him some space since he never lost someone like this. Angelica and Miles stood close to one another, but they kept their distance since they knew Henry the least out of all of them.
The minister closed his book and slowly turned and walked back down the hill. Barry came to stand in front of the grave, looking down at it pensively. "Um..." he started, voice tight. "My father's-"
He stopped, and opened and closed his mouth a few times, eyes turning red. "I can't do this right now."
"It's okay," Caitlin whispered, rubbing his arm. "We understand."
"Henry Allen," Joe said, taking Barry's place in front of the grave. "Henry had quite a few hardships in his life. He lost his wife Nora, and he lost Barry. He suffered guilt, embarrassment, ridicule, shame, and everything else that comes with being blamed for a crime he didn't commit. Henry Allen was proof that love can get you through the darkest of times. And that love will keep him alive in all of our hearts."
Caitlin nodded, tears stinging her eyes, and Barry slowly walked over to the pot of roses.
He picked one out and crouched in front of Henry's casket, laying the rose on the dark stone. His hand hovered for a moment over the slippery surface. "I'm gonna find him, dad," he said quietly. "I promise I'm gonna take from he what he took from you."
The group exchanged glances. The echo to Barry's words was dark and threatening, and it worried Peter because it reminded him of his own mindset after the death of his uncle. He remembered the pain and torture it had been to hunt down Flint Marko and make him pay for what he did. And in the end, he even ended up befriending the man.
They stayed there for a long moment after each of them had laid a rose on the grave, as rain poured down and slipped off the dark casket that would forever hold Henry Allen.
There was someone they didn't know who was watching the whole funeral from a distance. Jessica girded herself when she saw Henry had died; she knew it was best to keep her distance for now. She whimpered as she tried to keep her tears silent, so as not to give away that she was there.
The Watcher looked down as they all traveled back to the Wests' house for a post-funeral meal. None of them were particularly hungry, however, so they put the food in the fridge for later use.
Caitlin made tea and stood with Iris and Cisco in the kitchen for a while. Iris' eyes hadn't stopped tearing since the funeral, and she gripped onto Cisco's hand like it was the only thing keeping her from floating away.
Barry called the three of them, along with Joe, Harry, Wells, Wally and Jesse, to the dining table.
"Guys, Zoom is still out there," he said seriously. "We need to come up with a plan."
"The man can crack open breaches to Earth-2," Cisco said dejectedly. He was sitting slumped in his chair, his shirt sleeves rolled up, a steaming cup of untouched tea resting on the table in front of him. He looked just as exhausted as the rest of them felt. "I mean, if he can do that, what else can he do that we don't know about?"
"Right after he killed his Time Remanent," Barry spoke up. "He told me I was almost ready."
"Almost ready for what?" Peter asked, still a little worried for his brother.
"I don't know," Barry whispered, shrugging; his voice was so soft, it was almost nonexistent.
"This is classic psychopath supervillain behavior," Bobby grumbled to himself. "Why can't they ever just say what they want to do? It's a lot easier to understand if they just tell us what they want."
"We also have to figure out why I keep vibing Earth-2 being ripped to shreds." Cisco added.
"Seriously?" Joe asked, shaking his head wonderingly.
"It's like I'm watching Transformers in 4D." Cisco let out a long sigh. "But, like, ten times more realistic. And with much better acting."
A flicker of a smile passed over Iris' face and she rested her hand on Cisco's back, gently massaging it. He let out a sigh and slumped forward onto his hands, eyes shutting halfway.
"Look, if you can vibe the future, we need to stop Zoom before that happens," Joe said.
Barry abruptly turned away from the table. "I'm gonna get some air," he mumbled, and they all heard the door open and close with a soft click.
Everyone looked at Peter. He sighed and realized this was his opportunity to speak to his brother. "I've got it."
Peter walked outside and saw his brother sitting on the steps. Barry was sitting on the porch; his red cardigan looked almost black in the dim lighting outside. His face softened a bit when he saw Peter, but then he turned his gaze back to the empty street.
Peter took a moment and sat down beside his brother. The two of them didn't even speak a word to each other for a moment. They hadn't had much to really say, and that was something that they never really worked on. The fact that they were never truly brothers to one another.
"When I was in the Speed Force," Barry said finally. "I felt like I'd finally come to grips with her death. With not saving her when I went back. And then... the moment where I'm finally at the place I can move on... the universe takes it all away from me. How am I ever supposed to find peace with that?"
"Remember when you learned about what happened to my uncle?" Peter asks Barry, remembering that day.
Barry nodded as he recalled that was when he had been dealing with Blackout at STAR Labs that day. "You wanted to find the man and kill him."
"And you said you would stop me from doing anything that I might regret." Peter whispered. "You never had the chance to stop me, but you were right. If I killed Flint, not even knowing the full story of what happened, I'd never forgave myself."
"And now you're trying to cure him." Barry recalled.
"It was an accident," Peter said. He had forgiven Flint for killing his uncle. It was a matter of circumstance; it wasn't personal. "And right now, you're in the same mindset that I was. I want to stop you from making the same mistakes that I almost made."
"Avenging the man who killed our father?" Barry questioned Peter's logic.
Peter asked him, "Can you actually bring yourself to do that? To kill a man?"
While Barry was beginning to ponder that exact question, Peter's senses alerted him that something was coming. That's when a blur of blue lightning shot past the street. Peter tried to object to Barry going, but Barry had already taken off and sped after Zoom.
Barry stopped running in the middle of the still-empty street. Hunter's cowl was off, his back to him, and he smirked at Barry's suit. "Bad time, Flash?" Barry seethed silently, his hands clenching as he watched Hunter slowly turn around. "Thought I'd give you some time to mourn," he said with a shrug.
"This ends now," Barry grumbled.
"Not yet," Hunter disagreed. "There's always more to take, Barry."
"You're gonna stay away from them," Barry hissed, not allowing this monster to hurt any more of his family.
"Well, that's completely up to you." Hunter said.
"What?"
Hunter smiled faintly. "When we first met, I told you that Zoom needed to be the best. You just didn't realized I was talking about myself."
"Is that was this is about?" Barry asked, tears stinging in his eyes.
Hunter exclaimed, "A race! A race, Barry, between you and me. To see who's the fastest. You win; this is over, and you get to be the hero."
"I'm not racing you," Barry spat.
Hunter's facial muscles barely even twitched. "Then your father won't be the only one you love that I'll take from you. Think about it, Flash. All I want to know is who's the fastest man alive... on either Earth." He stopped and nodded. "I'll be waiting."
Barry had everyone meet back at STAR Labs as they felt that was the safest place for everyone to be. He had explained the situation to them and how Zoom wants to race to prove who's the fastest man alive once and for all.
"Zoom just wants to race you?" Angelica questioned.
"He's obsessed with being the fastest." Barry explains to them.
"Why should we trust him?" MJ asks the obvious question.
"He just wants to race," Cisco says. "You know, it actually makes sense in a completely off-our-rocker sort of way."
"That can't be all he wants," Joe says, sensing there has to be more to it than that, especially given Cisco's vibe.
"It isn't," Harry confirms. "This magnetar that's being developed by Mercury Labs, turns out that it can act as a pulsar."
"I'm sorry, what's a pulsar?" Iris asks.
"It's a power amplifier with a highly magnetized, dense rotating core that can easily be weaponized," Wells explains and pulls up the schematics for the device.
"Yeah, that's not dangerous at all," Iris commented as they saw the device could be used to destroy the planet easily.
"Maybe scientists should stop making these dangerous weapons that have the potential to destroy the world," said Miles.
"That's what I saw is gonna happen to Earth-2." Cisco tells them.
"This thing is powerful enough to destroy a planet?" May asked.
"More than just a planet, if it has the right power source." Harry confirmed their fears.
"Like what?" MJ wonders. "What's powerful enough to charge that thing?"
"Even Stark's arc reactors wouldn't be powerful enough," Harry confirmed. "It would take a lot of energy."
"Me. That's why he wants to race," Barry realized. "He wants to siphon the energy I create when I run."
"He wants to siphon the energy off of the two of you." Wells corrects him.
Caitlin tells them, "He told me he used to measure his success by the number of victims, but now he's going to measure it by how many worlds he conquers." The pieces are starting to come together.
"He doesn't want to just destroy Earth-2...he wants to take out every other planet in the multiverse." Wells tells them.
"Well, how many of them are there?" MJ questioned, feeling there couldn't be that many.
"Infinite." Wells stated,
"And that's not counting the BRANCHES," Peter muttered, remembering Peter Supreme. "If Zoom can do this, he can cause trouble far beyond our multiverse. If he escaped to the BRANCHES of the multiverse, there could be infinite casualties."
"One pulse to destroy them all." Cisco says, misquoting Lord of the Rings.
"I guess I don't have a choice," said Barry as he put on his suit to go running in the accelerator. "I have to race him."
All in the room exchanged looks. As Barry ran off to chase Zoom, the majority of them had a small conversation among themselves. They knew that Barry was angry and that there was a chance he might actually attempt to kill Zoom.
And they needed to stop it.
"Baer."
Barry turned away from the empty cell doors of the Pipeline to see Joe walking down the stairs.
Joe pleaded, "Don't race him."
Barry shook his head and sighed deeply. He had been foolish to think the rest of his team would let it go. "It's not that easy."
Yes, it is," Joe argued. "You just have to say no. Find another way to stop him - like we always do."
"And do what, Joe?" Barry asked, stepping closer. "Just sit around, waiting for him to kill someone else? Peter? Caitlin? Iris? You? No. No way."
"He needs you, Baer," Joe exclaimed. "He needs your speed to power that... thing that Wells discovered; we have the advantage here."
Barry let out a slow sigh, calming his anger. When he spoke, his voice was low. "All I have to do is beat him, Joe. That saves the multiverse. The BRANCHES. This city. All of you! I won't let another person I love die when I can prevent it."
Joe's face looked grave. "This isn't just about racing Zoom, is it?" he asked. "You... you want to kill him."
"Of course I wanna kill him, Joe!" Barry yelled suddenly. "I want to do more than just kill him; I want him to suffer for everything that he's done. And he will. For killing my father, threatening my brother, and scarring Caitlin, and for terrorizing my city."
Joe held up his hands, looking alarmed. "Calm down, Baer! Think about what you're saying."
Barry swallowed, struggling to rein in his temper. "I have to be willing to do whatever it takes," he said quietly. "So I'm going to race him, whether you want me to or not."
"And I can't talk you out of it?" Joe asks.
Barry shook his head. "I'm sorry, but not this time."
Barry turned away, but stopped when he heard Joe say, "Then I'm sorry, too."
Suddenly, a searing pain erupted in Barry's shoulder. He lurched against the wall of the Pipeline, staring in horror at the dart protruding from his back... and the gun in Wells' hand. Then Barry collapsed onto the ground and passed out.
Barry woke up slowly, unsure of where he was. The memories came rushing back to him faster than he had hoped - Zoom, Henry's death, being hit by the dart and passing out... He sat up, staring around him. He was in the pipeline... but not in the hallway.
He was in a cell.
Barry pushed himself up a little bit and his eyes caught what was happening outside his cell. The entire team was standing outside, watching him like he was something on display in a zoo. Except for May, Wally, Miles, and Gwen, who were apparently missing from this whole thing.
"What are you doing?" Barry mumbled, hurt and betrayal flashing across his face. "Why did you put me in here?"
He got to his feet, staring them down, and his eyes landed on Caitlin. She was standing somewhat in the back as if she wasn't sure she wanted to be a part of all of this, and she didn't meet his gaze. Her eyes were red and blotchy like she had been crying.
It didn't make him feel any better.
Joe said, "You're too angry right now; you can't race him like that. Without a plan, you'll lose."
"You're keeping me in here is going to get everyone killed," Barry said hoarsely, leaning against the front of the glass with his head hanging down. "I'm the only one who can stop him - you know that!"
Then Wells stepped forward. She didn't seem to be at all remorseful about putting Barry in a cell; it was just her way. "You race Zoom on his terms... you lose."
"This is not your decision to make!" he shouted, slamming his fist against the glass.
Joe's jaw tightened. "It is this time." Barry turned away from the glass with a sob of frustration. We all made it... together."
He turned back, towards his friends. The people he had grown up with. The people he worked with every day. The people he loved and cared about.
"What?" his gaze flashed to Caitlin, then to Cisco, then to Peter. "All of you?"
"Bro, I went back and forth," Cisco said, "I was, like, a good 60-40 at first."
"Cisco," Bobby warned.
"Yeah." Cisco let out a long sigh. "All of us."
Barry turned away again, his gut clenching. Wells kept watching him. "Allen," he said. "Allen! This is for your own good."
"Don't do this," Barry pleaded as Harry walked over to the controls. "Guys, come on! Caitlin. Peter. Cisco, come on! You have to let me out. You have to let me stop him!"
He broke off, for the door was already closed. Everyone made their way to the cortex, while Peter stared at the door. MJ stood close behind him and sighed.
Peter looked over to MJ with a sigh. "Did I make the right choice?"
MJ sighed as she walked up and caressed his cheek. "You made the call you thought was the best for your brother. You went through this and know what it's like to not be thinking clearly." She then pecked him on the lips. "Now let's stop Zoom once and for all."
Peter nodded and looked at the pipeline. "Just one last thing..."
Harry jogged towards a set of metal poles and a few pipes at the back of the abandoned lot, gun hanging over his shoulder. "Okay," he reported. "I'm in position."
"Copy that," Jesse responded. "We got you."
"Okay," Harry said again. "Snow? You ready?"
Caitlin hesitated a moment, twisting her hands in front of her. She didn't like this plan, but it seemed to be the best one they had. "As ready as I can be."
"Cisco," Joe called into the coms. "Cisco, you good?"
Cisco peeked out from behind an unused control box from a high leverage point. "Define good," he muttered.
"Ramon," Harry piped up. "You're gonna be great." He paused, then, "Snow, when you're ready.
"Okay," Caitlin said, her voice wavering a bit.
Iris turned from her spot around the street footage. She locked eyes with Caitlin. "You got this."
Caitlin took a shuddering breath and nodded. "Here we go."
Hunter was tightening a few screws on the machine he was creating when he heard a voice.
"Hunter?"
His eyes went wide and he dropped his screwdriver. "Caitlin."
Then he flashed off, finding her in the center of an abandoned lot.
"How did you find me?" Hunter demanded, unaware of the surveillance above his head. Harry tightened his grip on his gun and Cisco took a deep breath. They waited.
"Dr. McGee said the Magnitar was stolen from her labs- I knew that it had to be you, so I tracked you here," Caitlin answered, her hands tightening and loosening convulsively at her sides. "I tracked you here, Hunter; no one else knows."
"I tried to lock the darkness inside of me up," Caitlin continued. "But you knew that that was already a part of me now. And you're the only one who did."
It was working. Hunter was beginning to step closer to her, so close that she could reach out and touch him if she wanted to.
"And now, I am ready to accept who I really am," Caitlin said, going in for the final point. "I am so sorry that I hurt you. But now... I want to be the one that only you know. Please, Hunter. Let me try."
Everything hung on his response. Would he give her a chance, and give the rest of the Team time to get into position and take him out?
Or...
"One more step..." Joe murmured.
"I-" Hunter started, looking torn. "I knew you'd eventually come around, Caitlin."
She pasted a smile on her face, and Hunter let out a sigh, stepping forward. "But it's too late."
With one quick swoop of his arm, he vibrated his hand and sent it plunging through Caitlin's stomach. But that was when he was shocked to see that it was merely just a hologram. That was quickly followed by the hologram shutting down and revealing that it was actually the Sandman going along with his part of the plan.
"Hello, again." Flint says, enlarging his fist before punching Zoom clear across the warehouse district.
but before Zoom could even hit the ground, Angelica flew into the air and grabbed Hunter at the neck. Then she flew as high up in the air that she could go before her flames extinguished themselves.
"This is for my friends!" Angelica was glad to at least get some vengeance on behalf of Peter and Bobby from her world.
Angelica then flew straight downward, where Bobby had already planned a special surprise for Zoom for what he did to Caitlin. She eventually let Hunter go, watching his body fall to the ground where he slammed into several layers of thin ice. Zoom eventfully hit the ground and groaned at the fractured ice that had dug into his flesh.
Bobby walked out from the corner where he shot an icicle right at Zoom, causing him to cry out in pain. The icicle had pierced through him in the spine, leaving him unable to feel his legs below the injury.
Bobby said, "That was for Caitlin and MJ."
Before Zoom could even get back up, Peter came in swinging as then webbed the monster up with his enhanced webbing formula. Wells and Harry helped him with the formula.
Joe shot The Boot onto Hunter's neck. It flashed with electricity, causing him to bring his hands up to his neck in pain.
"Now, Cisco!" Harry yelled.
Cisco extended his arm and opened up a breach right behind of Hunter. Joe reached for another gun, aimed, and-
Joe muttered, "Dang it!" as he fiddled with the trigger.
Wells shot a blast of his gun at Hunter. The speedster fell, grasping his arm.
"Tranq him! Tranq him!" Wells yelled, sprinting across the lot.
"Gun's jammed," Joe reported in frustration, rushing out of his hiding spot.
Peter groaned as he then pulled the syringes from the gun and ran towards the monster. Leaping into the air, letting out some of his anger toward the creature, he managed to embed the syringes into Hunter's neck. Hunter cried out in pain as Peter kicked him through the breach. What was unexpected to everyone, however, was that Hunter grabbed Peter by the leg and dragged him into the portal with him.
"No!" Bobby cried as he shot a blast in an attempt to hit Zoom, trying to force him to release Peter.
But the breach already closed, and Angelica ran over to the closed breach and panicked. "Peter!"
They made their way back to STAR Labs a subdued group. When MJ was told what happened, she immediately enlisted Cisco in vibing Peter, and the tech wiz shut his eyes, face scrunching. What he saw was something to behold; Peter was actually fighting back against Zoom. Whatever had happened to him in the web of life had given him fast enough reflexes to at least dodge the attacks from him. It wasn't long before the vibe ended and he reached up, rubbing his forehead.
"Did you see him?" MJ asked, demanding answers.
"Not really; the vibe keeps changing. It's like... my brain is channel surfing or something," Cisco responded with a sigh. "Sorry, MJ."
"They must be on the move," Caitlin suggested. "That's why the vibe's in flux. Keep trying."
"From what I've seen, seemed like they were fighting across the city." Cisco sighed and dropped the goggles.
Flint grunted as he looked down at his fist and noticed that some sand particles were falling. "That doesn't look good."
"You okay, Flint?" Bobby wonders.
"Yeah. I'm fine," Flint lied and sighed. "Just a little mad at myself for not being able to do anything."
Cisco sat down, and Caitlin turned to watch as Harry, Wells, and Jesse entered the Cortex. "Hey," she said. "Did you shut off the magnetar?"
"No," Harry said stiffly.
"There's no messing with that thing." Wells warned them. "Whatever you do to it- we try to touch it, we try to move it- this planet's done for."
"And here I thought today couldn't get any worse," Joe muttered with a sigh.
That's when Wally, May, Gwen, and Miles walked into the room. They had been sent away for their safety, with Miles there to protect them in case something went wrong. Iris called them back, saying there was something they needed to disclose.
Wally came in after them, eyes landing on his sister. "Iris!" He glanced around, noticing all of the long faces. "What's wrong?"
Iris walked up to him hesitantly; she didn't look as if she wanted to break the news. She sighed and approached the group, knowing this was going to be difficult for some of them. "Zoom took Peter."
"What?" May said in a tone of dread and terror. "How?"
"We tried to stop Zoom by pushing him through the breach, but..." Caitlin sighed. "He took Peter with him."
May shook her head, unable to comprehend what she had just been told. Gwen then stepped in, having a few questions. "Well, where's Barry? Did he go after him?"
Bobby looked away in embarrassment. Harry looked down at the computer so as not to have to look her in the eye. He knew there wasn't anything between Gwen and Peter anymore, but he also knew she still had feelings for Peter.
"No, he's not with us; he's in a cell in the intake..." Jesse trailed off as her father cleared his throat, sending her a warning look.
Miles's face was pale as he listened to all of this in silence before turning to accuse. "Wait. You tried to stop Zoom alone?"
Joe sighed. "It's a long story."
Gwen said, "Well, we have to get him back." She looked around the room, noticing the looks on their faces. "You're planning to get him back, right?"
"We all agreed that if we got him off this Earth, we would close the breaches forever and under no circumstances would we ever open them again." Iris explains.
May almost lost all feeling in her legs until Gwen and Miles managed to catch her before she hit the ground. "Why would you do that?" She asks as she eyed the rest of the room. "There is no way Peter would agree to it."
MJ muttered, "Actually, it was Peter who suggested it." She didn't exactly agree to it herself, but what was she gonna say 'no?'
"Well, guess what? I didn't agree to that." Miles declared as he looked around the room. "The plan was really to leave Earth-2 to the mercy of Zoom?" He saw the silence around the room, and realized that was the plan. "Guys, I still have friends on Earth-2. I still have a mom on Earth-2. I am not leaving her to wonder what happened to me and let Zoom conquer her home."
"I already lost Richard, Mary, and Ben." May muttered to the group, causing everyone to face her. "If I lose him, I don't know what I'll do."
She watched as May walked out of the room and MJ figured she knew where she was going. Angelica remembered the pain her May Parker went through when she lost Peter and realized they had made a mistake. She was going to make things right.
Peter had been beaten up and was in the same chains that once held Jesse. Of course, these were enhanced with power-dampening technology, meaning he couldn't access his powers. He was beaten and had a bruise on his lip that would heal within an hour. His mask was torn off and thrown to the side; it was the least of his worries at the moment.
"I have to say, Barry really has a number of family members for me to kill." Hunter proclaimed.
Peter says, "You're going to pay for that."
"Peter, you know you can't stop me," Hunter said as he approached Peter. "Maybe you can keep up with me, but you will never truly stop me."
"Who is he?" asked Peter of the masked lunatic.
Hunter thinks for a moment and decides to tell him. "I got my speed the same way Barry did; when I was struck by the dark matter and electricity, I became Zoom, the fastest man alive. It wasn't long before I had this entire Earth on its knees. But it wasn't enough. I wanted more. I wanted to be faster. So I created a speed drug."
"Velocity-7." Peter guessed because V-8 and 9 were created on his Earth.
"It made me faster than I ever thought possible, fast enough to break through the dimensional barriers, fast enough to run to other universes, other Earths. And then, one day, on one of those Earths, I discovered him."
"He's a speedster?" Peter was shocked to hear.
"Yeah, you can say that," Hunter responds. "It was right around the same time I discovered something else too. All that V-9 I'd been injecting myself with had a little side effect."
Peter nodded with a slur. "It was killing you."
"I searched for a cure. I tried everything. I even tried manipulating the Speedforce, but let me tell you, the Speedforce, it doesn't like its rules being broken." Hunter explains to Peter. "It's been sending its enforcers after me ever since."
Peter remembered the talk that Barry had given about the Time Wraiths that he had missed. "So, you were trying to steal his speed."
"I tried, but it didn't take." Hunter admitted. "But then the skies parted, and I saw Barry, and then I stole his speed. I won. I beat the rules of the Speed Force."
"Then why keep him here?" Peter wonders.
Hunter said, "A trophy. And a little idea I had for fun." Hunter's eyes darted to the man in the mask. "You see, I got so tired of being the villain, I decided to be the hero as well. I even borrowed his name, Jay Garrick." He looked at Peter and Peter understood why he was there now.
"You know what's gonna be great, Spider-Boy? After I beat Barry and prove I'm the fastest, he's gonna rot in a cage just like Jay is in right now. Then I'll have a Flash from two worlds, and I'll kill you all!" Hunter mocks him.
Barry was slumped in his cage when the door suddenly opened. He stood up, looking around curiously, and found Angelica standing there with MJ and May on either side of her.
MJ let her tears flow as she walked up to him. "Barry," she said, hugging him, leaving him confused.
Barry was confused about what was going on. "What's going on?"
Angelica sighed. "Look, everyone's going to freak when they find out we did this, but we don't care."
"We need your help, Barry," May said as she prepared to explain everything to him. "Peter's in trouble."
Barry was left worried when he looked down at MJ, who was still hugging him. "What happened?"
Up in the Cortex, a Pipeline alert started beeping. Jesse strode over to the computer. "Uh, guys? Barry's not..." The sound of thunder cut her off. Barry flashed into the room with Angelica, MJ, and May. "...In his cell anymore." Jesse finished dully.
Caitlin felt a little bit guilty for the surge of relief she felt when she saw Barry standing in his suit, free from the confines of the Pipeline. She had wanted him to be safe…but she had wanted to be with him more.
"Oh, we're in trouble now." Bobby told Harry.
Harry said, "I can get us tickets to Paris in just an hour."
Barry looked angry; he looked upset, and he looked scared.
Basically, he didn't look at all happy.
"How could you let him take Peter?!" Barry demanded, glaring directly at Wells. The glare sent a slight pang of guilt through Caitlin; she felt relieved that it wasn't directed at her. "What the hell were you thinking?"
"Allen, there was nothing we could do," Wells said.
"You could have let me race him!" Barry bellowed.
"Barry!" Joe exclaimed. "You are not racing Zoom."
"What? Are you going to tranq me again?" Barry asked, glaring at him.
"Don't tempt me," Wells hissed, glaring back.
"Hey!" Miles got everyone's attention as he flickered the lights with his bio-electricity. "Are we really saying we're going to leave Peter to die?"
Barry turned away in a huff of frustration. "Okay, I know you guys made a pact to keep Zoom on Earth 2, but you did that without me, May, and Gwen. Alright, you don't get to do that."
This was probably the most upset that Caitlin had ever seen Barry. It was a scary kind of upset, the kind of upset that made her believe that he was capable of hurting people. It terrified her.
"Barry, look at yourself right now," Cisco shouted. "You're not okay."
"Cisco, my dad was just killed right in front of my eyes," Barry bellowed, striding up to him. "Do you have any idea what that feels like?"
This had gone to far.
"Watching someone you love die?" Caitlin cried, stepping forward and grabbing onto Barry's upper arm so that he would look at her. "Yes. I do." She paused, taking a deep breath before continuing. "Which is exactly why we did this, because I can't lose you, too."
"Cait-" he broke up, pulling away from her and rubbing his hands through his hair.
"Look, Barry, I know how upset and angry and distanced you can feel from loss," she continued. "But when this happened to me, you were the one who was there for me. You told me to stop and take a breath, and that's all we're asking you to do now."
"I'm telling you, I'm good," Barry insisted, and while he did sound quite a bit calmer, Caitlin had a hard time believing that was true.
"Really?" Wells asked. "You're good? Because it seems to me that you want to do more than just stop Zoom. It seems to me that you want revenge. If that's why you're doing this, Allen, you will lose."
"No!" Angelica cried, getting everyone's attention as she stood up and faced them, her voice filled with barely contained rage. "I already lost Peter on my Earth. I couldn't save him. I can't let this happen again. So, there's no way in hell that I'm gonna lose him all over again! Or abandon my Earth! My home!"
"That's why we can't let you do this," Wells proclaimed. "It seems to me you both still want revenge. If that's why you're doing this, you will lose."
May slammed her hands down on the table, causing everyone to flinch. Most of them were powerful people, but the moment she became angry, they all shut up.
"Enough!" May exclaimed in anger. "Are you even listening to yourselves right now?! The words coming out of your mouths! Barry already lost his father because of that monster, and now you's just gonna let Zoom take his brother too?! We're also talking about my nephew!"
Iris sighed. "May, we know-"
"Do you?" May immediately stopped her from continuing. "Do you really?" She continued. "You all should know that this is the last thing he needs right now! You know that, but you guys obviously didn't care. All you ever cared about was getting Zoom off this world and making sure Barry doesn't race him, and the best part about this stupid decision is that none of you guys asked me or Barry how we felt about this! In fact, what about the people on Earth-2? Don't they get a say in this? You'll just leave them at Zoom's mercy?"
"In my defense, I was skeptical about the idea from the beginning." Bobby defended his involvement.
"We have no choice, May," Wells tells her.
May then turned to face Wells, giving a look that could kill. "You always have a choice, Wells! You shouldn't be thinking about what you would do or I mean anything to save your daughter from Zoom. You tried to capture Zoom, but you failed, and came to our Earth for help. Which we did. Both Barry and Peter stood by you. Defended you. And there for you, even though you didn't want them to be. They saved your daughter, from Zoom, but won't return the favor for Barry to save his brother?"
Wells was about to say something, but he looked down and remained silent.
She then looked at Joe, Wally, and Iris. "You two," she said as she approached them. Wally took a few steps away since this anger was directed at the other two and not him. He wanted to get as far away from her wrath as he could. "When Zoom took Wally in exchange for Barry's powers, you were very desperate to make sure you didn't lose him and didn't know what to do. But, Barry chose the decision for you saying it was his choice to make, even though it wasn't easy, but it was worth a sacrifice. This decision of leaving Peter at the hands of another psycho speedster isn't worth it!"
May then directed her anger at Caitlin. "You," she said, then began walking towards her. When Zoom took you, Barry was in a really bad place. He couldn't eat, or sleep, and was falling apart because he was worried sick about you all the time! Worrying that he might never see you again. He was powerless to save you from that monster. And guess what? Barry's having the same feelings right now because of you and the rest of this team, and the best thing you could say to him was 'Stop and take a breath'? Really? You're asking him to stop and take a breath when you betrayed the man you love, locked him up, abandoned him, went and stopped Zoom by yourselves which was a dumb move, used yourself as bait which was selfish, and let Zoom take his little brother! See, you think you're calming him down, but you're not because you're forcing him to calm down and ask him to be okay with this! So, what am I hearing coming out of your mouth is nothing but excuses! Excuses to make sure Barry doesn't race Zoom and save Peter." Then she began looking at everyone, except Barry. "You all think you stopped Zoom, but you never did! You're actually helping Zoom by letting him win and getting everything he wants! So, if you do this, go along with this selfish plan, which means Zoom wins. You'll be the ones who'll be losing, and Barry and I will never..." bursts into tears, but still mad. "EVER forgive you guys for this."
Everyone looked sad and started thinking about what May had said. Then she marched out of the room, leaving her anger and pain behind.
Barry was a little shocked by what May had said. "Look, you guys," he exclaimed. "You may think that I can't do this. You may think I'm too angry. But May's right. I just lost my dad, and... I can't lose Peter too. And the only way to save him is that I have to race Zoom. I have to beat him, and I'm going to save Peter, whether I have your help or not. So which one is it?"
Peter's senses alert him or something, him and Hunter turn around to see a vision of Barry in the Flash suit. "I'll race you. Say when and where. I'll be there." Barry promises.
"Cisco's learned how to bring people into his vibes." Hunter comments.
"There's one condition. You bring Peter back, but if he's harmed any further, it's off." Barry tells Zoom.
"Fine. But he doesn't go free until after the race." Hunter promises.
When they arrived at the location where the device was already up and running, they knew that this would be a life-or-death situation. Either they would save the multiverse or they would all die together. Zoom came speeding in and held a bruised Peter in his grasp. Everyone went on alert and were all ready to fight him if he tried anything.
Hunter says, "Brought the whole crew with you, huh? Can't say I blame you. It's gonna be one hell of a show."
"Let him go." Joe tells Hunter.
"After we race." Hunter reminds them.
"Cut it out already, we know you're planning to power up the magnetar so you can destroy the multiverse," Wells says to him, holding up the Boot.
"Bravo. You figured it out…almost. I don't want to destroy all of them. This Earth is at the center of the multiverse. The quickest access point to every other Earth in existence. One trans-dimensional shockwave, and poof."
"Leaving just our earth. How generous."
"I've gotta have somewhere to hang my cowl," Zoom said. "Might wanna say your goodbyes."
The entire team was out on the pavement. Barry was ready in his suit, cowl off. He watched them all. "Get back to STAR Labs; it's safer."
"We're not going anywhere. You've got eyes and ears right here," Cisco said, nodding determinedly.
"Either he goes, or we all die together," Caitlin added.
Barry smiled gently at her and leaned down, kissing her. She returned the gesture, whispering something in his ear that only he could hear. He smiled, pulling away, and nodded at the rest of his team. Then he turned and ran to the center of the parking lot.
"Get Peter back, and kick his ass." Bobby asks of him.
"What are the rules?" Barry asked, staring him down. He had never felt as much hate for one single human being than he did for Hunter.
"One lap around the inside of the loop will produce about one gigawatt of energy," Hunter said. "And I need 500 plus to power the magnitron enough to do the job. Once it's full, I win. Because there is no stopping it."
He took in the giant machine, then looked back at Hunter. He felt surprisingly confident about his odds; Caitlin's words right before he left ringing in his head.
"So all I need to do is stop you before that happens," Barry said.
"Yep," Hunter said, looking at the magnifier too. "That simple. But if, at any point, you decide you don't want to race anymore, dear baby brother will be a dead man, as well as your little fan club."
Barry's eyes slid to Peter, tied to a chair and looking surprisingly unafraid. The amount of faith he had in Barry and his abilities filled the speedster with another rush of confidence. He could do this.
He had to.
"They're not my fans," Barry corrected in an even tone. "They're the reason I'm running. The reason I'm going to beat you."
Hunter scoffed, disbelief evident in his expression, but didn't say anything else. They lined up, and Barry crouched slightly into his starting position.
"Let's see what you're made up," Hunter said. "Flash."
They both pulled their cowls up. "Just say when, Zoom," Barry responded, eyes ahead.
"Run Barry," Zoom growled. "RUN!"
They took off.
Barry followed Zoom across the large wheel of the machine. The surface was smooth, a little slippery, and Zoom wove around it in an unpredictable pattern. This was going to be tougher than Barry had thought. Soon, small bolts of electricity began swirling around the small sphere at the center of the machine.
"He's powering up the magnitar," Wells reported worriedly.
The two streaks of light kept going, faster and faster, as more and more lightning joined the first bits in the center. "Come on, Barry," Cisco muttered. "Catch him."
A bright white stream of energy shot out from the center of the ball, passing over the top of the magnifier and heading toward the sky. A burst of red light, like the tinted smoke after a firework, flashed in the sky.
"Always a sky beam." Miles comments with a scoff.
Jesse squinted in confusion as the Flash's yellow lightning streak suddenly split into two. "Which one's Barry?"
"Both of them," Harry breathed. "He made a time remnant of his own."
While Barry chased down Zoom, the other flashed over to Peter and hurriedly unlocked his handcuffs. "Go!" he ordered, cutting off Peter's confused exclamation. "Go! I'll explain later."
Barry's chase of Zoom was suddenly knocked out of its circular orbit and landed on the ground, Zoom hovering over him.
"A Time Remnant? You stole my trick, Flash," Zoom growled. Behind him, the magnifying glass began to glow and light up like a Christmas tree. "But you're too late. Bye bye, multiverse."
Barry jolted off of his back and ran at Zoom. They flashed around each other in a whirlwind of punches and dodges, each trying to land the better blow. The other Barry had moved from his spot around the wheel of the magnitar and was now running around the lower part, around the orb.
"What's the time remanent doing?" MJ asked, confused.
"It's creating its own pulse," Gwen realized.
"Why would he do that?" May asked.
Wells grinned. "Because!" he said. "If that one is out of phase, then this one is too." He pointed to the larger wheel and the spoke of light streaming into the sky.
"Wait; his body can't handle that!" Caitlin cried, realization hitting her.
"Then what's gonna happen?" Joe questioned.
Caitlin went cold. "He'll... die."
Suddenly, the yellow stream running along the bottom of the magnifier vanished. A puff of yellow energy shot up the stream of light, toward the swirling cloud in the sky.
The whole thing disappeared, along with Barry.
"No!" Zoom shouted, and Barry, the non-time remnant one, took that opportunity to land another hit on him.
They took off again, over walls and across buildings, before they suddenly came into view, with Barry slamming Zoom against a control box. The whole thing buckled under the force, and now Barry had the upper hand.
He attacked Zoom with his fists, chased him, and flipped him onto his back. Barry leaned over him, ripping off his mask. His hand shot out, vibrating. He could do it; he could finally do what he had always wanted to do.
"You're a hero, Barry," Zoom whispered, his lips coated in blood. "You couldn't kill me before. You won't kill me now."
Barry seethed, his hand still vibrating, but suddenly a breach opened. They turned as one, watching as two terrifying, dark shapes zoomed out of the swirling mass and flew towards Barry and Zoom.
Time Wraiths.
Barry lunged over Zoom, smiling triumphantly. "I don't need to."
The Time Wraiths zipped towards Zoom, swirled around him, and yanked a scream of agony from his lips. By the time they grabbed him by the arms and dragged him into the sky, all that remained were a skull and a black Flash suit, still yelling in hoarse pain.
Then, just like that, they were gone.
"Okay, so," Wally said, in full recap mode, still trying to understand what had gone on over the past few hours. "You went back in time and made a... copy of yourself?"
"Well-" Barry broke off, then shrugged. "Yeah. Basically."
"It's called a Time Remanent," Jesse explained.
"It's not something that I can do every day, but I needed a way to draw the Time Wraiths out of the Speed Force," Barry said, sticking his hands in his pockets. "I just hoped they'd be more upset at what Zoom had done than they'd be at me."
Wally looked bewildered. Joe nudged Iris. "Is that what I look like when they start talking about science?"
"Pretty much," Iris said, grinning.
"Don't worry, Wally," MJ called. "It'll get easier to understand."
"B-But how does that even work?" Wally persisted, brow furrowing. He seemed rather annoyed that everyone was understanding this except him.
"The same way Zoom did it," Barry explained. "I ran back in time just moments before I left. That's the only way I could be in two places at once."
"Okay, okay," Wally nodded a few times, itching his ear. "So the "Time Remanent"- it's still you."
The question made Barry pause. "Yeah," he said softly.
A suddenly subdued air landed heavily on the group. "But..." Caitlin said. "He died."
"Yeah," Barry agreed. "He was... willing to sacrifice himself for all of you." He looked over, smiling a little at Caitlin.
She returned the expression, titling her head. "That's how much he loved us," she whispered.
"You know what," Wally said, hurriedly trying to make the room a bit brighter. "We'll just forget about it- Barry, I'm, uh, I'm glad you're okay."
He broke into a lightly bewildered laugh and Barry grinned, shaking his head. Caitlin had then finished patching Peter up and allowed his healing factor to begin working its magic to help him.
"Thanks, Cait." Peter told her.
"No problem," Caitlin said as she caressed his head. "Feels like I'm gonna be patching you guys up for a while."
Meanwhile, over on the other side of the Cortex, Cisco and Harry were working on removing the mask of the man who had been trapped in Zoom's lair. Barry had thought to go back for him after defeating Zoom, and he was glad he did. He just hoped that Wells and Cisco could figure out a way to free him from the mask.
"In battle," Wells was saying. "Choose your weapon wisely. Some would choose a gun: I choose a Philips Head Screwdriver."
"Oh, okay," Cisco said, rolling his eyes and taking the tool. "I'm sorry, you're so picky."
"Ramon, can you just please- have you never worked with a tool before?"
"I'm working with one now," Cisco muttered snidely.
"Are you ready?" Wells asked. "One... two... and-"
He twisted the lock in the back off the mask, the whole thing pulled off.
"Ugh," the man inside said. Cisco stared at him in shock. Barry frowned. That voice had sounded rather familiar. "I don't know which is more annoying: being in there, or listening to you two arguing about it."
The man turned around, and slowly everyone in the room stood up.
It was Henry Allen.
"Um..." Barry actually felt the blood draining from his face.
"You're kidding, right?" Bobby asks.
"I'm Jay Garrick," the man in the mask said as he introduced himself. "The real Jay Garrick."
Peter was shocked when he realized he should have put it together, especially after his talk with his father in the woods. He said his family's maiden name was Garrick.
Barry's gaze fell, and a keen sense of disappointment flooded him. It wasn't as if it were possible for it to be his dad, actually alive… but he had seen some pretty trippy things in his time, and it could have happened. But instead…
This was too much, too soon.
"What?" Jay asked, frowning.
The walls were closing in. Barry couldn't breath. "I'm sorry-" he choked out as he walked out of the room. "I'm sorry."
By the time they walked back into the Cortex, Jay was dressed in full Flash regalia, and Cisco and Harry were explaining the reason for his power loss.
See, see, the reason you didn't have your powers was because there was a power dampener in the mask," Harry said, handing Jay the piece of metal. "See?"
Jay looked down at the mask with barely contained hatred. "I don't want to see this thing ever again," he said, and vibrated his hand straight through it.
The mask broke into three pieces and Cisco nodded. "So... your powers are back."
"I see that Jay- excuse me- Hunter, stole your color scheme, too." Joe pointed out, nodding at Jay's suit.
"A lot of those things were mine," Jay said, making a face. Then his gaze landed on the metal helmet. "Except for that- that's all him."
"He said it was his father's from the war," MJ said, rolling her eyes.
"Ironically," Wells spoke up. "On my Earth- on our Earth-" he nodded at Jesse, who smiled. "This helmet stood for hope."
"Yeah..." Jay murmured. "Well, maybe I can continue that sentiment." He reached forward and took the helmet from Wells's hands, placing it on his head. "Take something from him for a change. Make it mine."
He placed the metal helmet on his head, and Caitlin smiled. "It's suits you."
She reached over and took Barry's hand, rubbing her thumb over it. He gave her a weak smile, then turned back to his father's doppelganger.
"Thank you," Jay said. "All of you. For saving me from Zoom. Especially you, Flash."
Barry glanced up, took a deep breath, and nodded. "You're welcome. Flash."
Jay tipped his hat to him, and turned to Cisco. "Now, all I have to do is find my way home."
"Where's that?" Wally asked.
Jay frowned a moment. "I think you would call it... Earth 3."
"Uh huh," Cisco muttered thoughtfully. "Well, I can get you to Earth 2."
Wells looked up, smiling. "Miles, Angelica, my daughter and I can help you with the rest."
Jesse gave him a quizzical look. "We can?"
"Yes we can. We're going home."
Angelica and Miles were now collecting their things and heading for the briefing room. Their mission was over and now all they needed to do was head home. But as she was saying goodbye, Angelica found it difficult to say goodbye to her friends. It was almost like she was losing them all over again.
"You're an amazing Spider-Man," Peter promised Miles. "You're gonna do amazing as their hero."
"Thanks." Miles said as he gave him a hug.
"And if you ever need anything, you know how to find us." Peter promises as he pat him on the back.
Angelica watched him and gave Bobby a hug. "Keep him breathing for me, will you?" she asked him.
Bobby promised, "I'll keep him safe." "Take care of yourself," he added.
Angelica sighed as she then walked over to the rest to the group but stopped. He looked over towards the Earth-1 team and over to his Earth-2 group. She was torn between going back and forth between the two, but knew there was a small compromise.
"Jones, you coming?" Wells asks.
"Actually, I think I'll hang back." Angelica said as she sighed and looked to her friends. "I'll come back tomorrow. Just one more night."
Wells looked to Jesse and Miles, who both shrugged. "Alright, see you then," he said.
With that, Jay grabbed the three of them and Cisco opened a breach to the parallel world. He sped through it and disappeared.
The rest of the team had filtered back to Joe's house. The mood was subdued. They were triumphant, of course, at having saved the world once again. But they had lost a member of their team along the way, and that wasn't easy for any of them, especially Barry.
Caitlin found him on the front steps, like she had after Henry's funeral. She left Cisco and Iris cuddling together on the couch, watching the news, and took her spot beside him.
He was silent for a moment, and she sat, waiting, staring up at the stars.
"I can't stop thinking about my dad's doppelganger," Barry said softly after awhile. "Seeing him... knowing that he's out there- that should've made it easier. It doesn't. It just made me miss him even more."
"I can't even imagine how hard that must of been," Caitlin murmured in agreement.
"We just won," Barry said, looking hopeless. "We just beat Zoom. So why does it feel like I just lost?"
"Because you have lost so much, Barry," Caitlin said, leaning foreword. "More then anyone ever should."
"I haven't lost you." He held his arm out, and she curled into his side.
"No," Caitlin said softly, smiling. "And you never will." She then stood up, shivering slightly. "You'll come back inside and join us, right?"
Barry nodded. "In a minute."
Caitlin smiled as she walked over to the door. "I'll hold you to that."
Barry watched as she walked into the house and he looked out to the distance. He could fix this. He could change everything and make it right. But it would mean he had to risk losing everything he gained in his life.
"I'm sorry..."
The Watcher watched as Barry considered his options after everything he'd been through. He had friends and family right here, but...he just needed to do this.
The Watcher whispered silently, "Don't do it. Be better than your alternatives. Every Barry Allen has made this mistake; be the one who doesn't."
But Barry couldn't hear the Watcher. Nobody could hear him, except for a select few. And Barry wasn't one of them. With all of this in mind, Barry got up and started walking towards the door, reaching for the handle. The Watcher almost felt like he knew Barry was going to do it. However, when Barry looked through the window and saw how sorrowful his brother looked, he backed away from the door and sighed as he walked down the street.
Barry walked down the street, sighing as he started to pick up speed. It didn't take long before he was running again, quickly changing out of his civilian clothing so as not to damage it. He began to tear through the streets until he finally reached Star Labs. Once he started using the particle accelerator, he gained enough speed to run back in time.
As he ripped the timeline, he activated a portal and ran into it. The Watcher looked on in terror as Barry ran through the timeline. He saw all of the recent events and a few events he remembered from his previous travels and some that were new.
"Wakanda Forever!"
"I look around at us and you want to know what I see? Losers."
"Jason!"
"I am Diana of Themyscaria..."
"We are Venom."
"Because I've heard it before... and it wasn't funny the first time."
"Survive."
"Captain America!"
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Dad!"
"This guy is still alive."
"The Scarab had to choose you."
"In brightest days, in blackest nights!"
Barry arrived at the scene of the crime where everything had taken place and raced inside his childhood home. He sped inside just in time to stop Reverse Flash from impaling his mother with the knife. Barry tackled him and flung him against the wall, pinning him to the ground and began punching him, stopping him from killing his mother.
"You're not gonna kill her this time," Barry promised as he punched Thawne again. "You're not going to hurt her ever again." He then knocked him out as he then looked over to the doorway where his last year self had been standing and watched as he dissolved. He was shocked when he saw that and noticed how scared Nora was of him. "It's okay," he said as he knelt to comfort her. "You're safe. Nobody's going to hurt you."
The Watcher saw Barry save his mother and felt the entire universe shake. Quickly vanishing back into his own universe to assess the damage, he feared for what might be wrong.
Upon returning to the Nexus, the Watcher panicked as he noticed cracks forming across time and space. He saw everything becoming distorted from that single moment in time that had caused it all to crumble. Some of the realities began to merge while others were shattered, fixing themselves by merging with other shattered BRANCHES. Chaos was beginning to flow across all of time and space.
"No, no, no!" The Watcher started to panic as he saw the damage Barry had caused to time. "That means..."
Then there was a gigantic explosion of glass, causing The Watcher to shield himself. He then looked back and saw HYDRA Spider-Man flying into his own universe. The power of the Infinity Stones was clearly visible on his suit of armor.
The Watcher immediately began to panic and exclaimed, "Oh, no!"
Peter H. exclaimed in joy, "I found you! I finally found you!"
Then, he swiftly fired a burst of energy from the Power Stone at the Watcher, propelling him into the air. The Watcher conjured a platform to shield himself and slid across the multiverse, surveying the countless alternate branches. So many realities that were either chaos or new realities that had just been created, thanks to Barry.
"So many universes. So much chaos," he murmured, realizing the infinite possibilities. "They must be silenced."
The Watcher groaned as he got up onto his knees. "You don't have to do this," he said.
"Oh, but it's my purpose!" Peter H. proclaimed.
Then he flew towards the Watcher, creating a sword made out of the power from the Infinity Stones.
The Watcher will return in...
