Prisoner 79934: Ginevra Weasley
-A Harry Potter Fic-
By: Rae
"Heir of Slytherin Heads to Azkaban" - From the front page of The Daily Prophet on June 1, 1993
Reporting by Rita Skeeter
In a trial that shocked the wizarding world, the Wizengamot has released their verdict on the case of Ginevra Weasley, the accused Heir of Slytherin who recently wreaked havoc on Hogwarts. This reporter has been following the case for you loyal readers, and yesterday the Wizengamot released a verdict of guilty for the accused Ginevra Weasley.
Following their statement, the courtroom erupted into a furor, the greatest of which was caused by the Weasley clan, led by Arthur Weasley, a Ministry of Magic employee of ill repute, and his wife, Molly, a homemaker and mother to their seven children. Molly Weasley's cries led to her family's rather uncouth boo-ing and crying out about the injustice of it all, but this reporter wonders where their cries of injustice are for the victims of their sweet daughter. Certainly the Weasley clan wants justice for poor Argus Filch, whose loyal companion and pet Mrs. Norris was petrified by Slytherin's monster. Surely they want justice for the petrified students Justin Finch-Fletchley and Hermione Granger who lost the rest of their school year as they languished in the Hogwarts Hospital Wing?
The Weasley clan and their fellow supporters created such a clamor that the head of the Wizengamot was forced to silence the assembly in order to render the Wizengamot's sentence upon Ginevra Weasley. The youngest of the Weasley clan was seated in the accused's seat, her body stiff with fright, and this reporter observed a knowing glint go through her eyes that might indicate her fear was not so genuine. The Wizengamot laid out the sentence for the young Weasley girl as follows: expulsion from Hogwarts, the breaking of her wand, and three years in Azkaban in the highest of security.
Ginevra Weasley, 11 years old, faced her sentence with stoic indifference, her white skin perhaps a smidge whiter after the laying down of her prison sentence. Molly and Arthur Weasley, however, turned a shade of red this reporter has rarely seen outside of tomato plants, as they screamed obscenities at the Wizengamot head (at least, that's what it appeared to be considering the Silencio they were under). The primary dissent came from the Hogwarts Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, who challenged the sentence on the grounds that only the Headmaster has the ability to expel students from Hogwarts. This reporter and several on the Board of School Governors feel differently, but the Wizengamot agreed that there must be a time to check the school guidelines before handing down the expulsion.
Said Lucius Malfoy, one of the School Governors in question, "It appears Albus Dumbledore is overstepping his authority as he has during this entire investigation, and we will get to the bottom of the expulsion question."
Frankly this reporter and our readers will be glad to learn that the Heir of Slytherin is now behind bars where she belongs. Upon confirming the prison sentence, the Azkaban guards, the Dementors, came to escort Miss Weasley to her new home. The youngest Weasley fainted at the guards' approach and likely got a nasty shock upon her waking in her new cell. Those of us at The Daily Prophet will continue to follow this case in the hopes for updated news on her sentence as many among us believe the Heir of Slytherin's sentence not nearly harsh enough.

"Ginevra Weasley: First Year Student and Heir of Slytherin" - From page 17 of The Daily Prophet on June 1, 1993
Reporting by Rita Skeeter
Students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry can rest easy after the horrific year they endured at the hands of the self-proclaimed Heir of Slytherin who terrorized the school this year. Taken into custody after an attempt to hoodwink the administrators of Hogwarts, Ginevra Weasley was reportedly held in a holding cell at the Ministry of Magic after Aurors learned of her reign of terror over Hogwarts. Many of our readers have written to ask how the case unfolded, and this reporter has learned the whole story and is now prepared to release it to our loyal readers.
For students at Hogwarts, this year was unlike any other. As the school year winds down, students and parents are asking the important questions: How did this happen? What will happen with the Chamber of Secrets? How could an 11-year-old girl be the Heir of Slytherin?
Yes, that's right, readers. An 11-year-old girl opened the Chamber of Secrets at Hogwarts this year, and up until recently, the rest of the Wizarding World was unaware of this event. Now we will share the lurid details of Ginevra (Ginny) Weasley's reign of terror on Hogwarts staff and students.
Redheaded Ginevra Weasley is the youngest child of Arthur and Molly Weasley, a couple whose seven children might be one too many to handle. The last of the Weasley children to enter Hogwarts, Ginny started her first year at school this past fall. Shortly after her arrival at Hogwarts, the school received its first notice that all was not quite right when a bloody note on the wall heralded the opening of the famous Chamber of Secrets.
Many among us remember our own educations at Hogwarts and the story of the Four Founders and Salazar Slytherin's break with his brethren. For more on the legend of the Chamber of Secrets, see page 22. What we never dreamed of, however, was that the Chamber of Secrets was real and truly housed a monstrous creature that could terrorize the school. This reporter can now reveal that the monster in question was a basilisk, a snake-like creature that kills with its evil red gaze. Ginevra Weasley, upon opening the Chamber, began her work of using the basilisk to do her bidding.
Fortunately for all involved, the victims of the basilisk were all only petrified, save for a ghost that got the full blast of its gaze, a technicality that this reporter is sure was the only relief for the parents of the two students involved in the events.
At the end of the school year, Ginevra Weasley planned her master stroke, and in a terrifying move, she lured Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, into the Chamber, intending to murder him using her basilisk. Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, has reported that Miss Weasley's plan was not her own but instead the work of He Who Shall Not Be Named, controlling her through a dangerous dark item that somehow made its way into Hogwarts with her. However this reporter can confidently assert that the Headmaster was nowhere near the school on the day in question when Ginevra made her bid for murder. He was, in fact, in the Ministry of Magic meeting with the Board of Governors, as reported by Lucius Malfoy, whose calls for sanity during this investigation have been a breath of fresh air. Mr. Malfoy has also pointed out that at the time this took place, Albus Dumbledore had been removed from the post of Headmaster, and that position was being overseen by his deputy, Professor Minerva McGonagal, who has remained silent about her poor oversight of such a deadly situation.
Some of our readers may be wondering what the intended victim Harry Potter has to say about all this. Unfortunately we can report that Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, appears to have been very seriously confunded by Miss Weasley in the Chamber of Secrets. He is, in fact, agreeing with the party line supplied by Headmaster Dumbledore and has been one of the loudest defenders of Ginevra Weasley during the trial. However, certain sources, including a Mediwizard from St. Mungo's has confirmed to this reporter that none of Mr. Potter's testimony can be taken at face value given the trauma he underwent. Our hearts go out to Mr. Potter, and we sincerely hope he can receive the therapy he so obviously needs to get past this horrific event.
We have all been following the investigation of Ginevra Weasley as the Heir of Slytherin, and whether or not we are treated to the answers everyone so desperately wants, we all agree someone so dangerous deserves to be locked away for a very, very long time.
