Rory, sprinted down the stairs, faster than an athlete, anxious to know what had happened in the couple of minutes she had left the room. She skidded to a holt in front of the door and her eyes locked on Logans face. Her facial features visibly relaxed as she caught sight of that beautiful smile on his face.
She eagerly walked over and held his hand,
"So, did you guys have a nice warm chat?" she asked, still desperate to find out what was going on.
"As warm as fire" Lorelai said, chuckling at her own joke.
Rory glanced over at Logan for reassurance, he squeezed her hand, which sent shivers of electricity bolt through her body.
"Mum, I think now that you know what is going on, we're going to go. We have plans for the day" Rory said, wanting to be alone with Logan again.
"Oh really? What kind of plans?" Lorelai asked, looking at Logan suspiciously.
"Just a walk, nothing more innocent then that. Don't worry Lorelai, I will take care of your daughter" Logan answered politely, beaming at her.
"Hmm" Lorelai said, still not quite bringing herself to trust him.
"Bye Mum!" Rory said, walking forward to hug her Mum.
"Visit me soon, Luke wants a blow by blow story on how your new article went. He's very keen to play the step father role" Lorelai whispered as they embraced.
"I'll be back soon" Rory said as she and Logan walked out the door and Paul Anka gave them a last woof goodbye.
"Up for a walk, ace?" Logan asked.
"Yes, but this time it is my turn to ask questions" Rory said
"Your wish is my command, Gilmore" Logan said, grabbing her hand and intwining his fingers in hers.
"So what do you do at the New York Times?" Rory asked
"I'm a journalist, obviously" Logan said his eyes twinkling at the frustrated look on her face.
Rory rolled her eyes, " I know that but what do you write about?"
"Well, you didn't specify the question but if you want to know, I'm an entertainment journalist. Since I have a lot of famous contacts, I attend parties, catwalks, events, gala events, and then write about them" Logan said.
"How long have you been doing it?" Rory asked
"Around a year, maybe more" Logan replied.
This comforted Rory, that Logan had became a responsible man with a stable job. He really was seeming to become the perfect man.
"I must say, Hunzberger, I'm impressed" she said grinning at him. He smiled back.
"Does that mean it is my turn to ask questions now, ace?" he asked.
"No way. I have barely even started" Rory said outraged.
"Ok, what else would you like to know, I think you are far more interesting then me" Logan said squeezing her hand.
How is Mitchum?" Rory asked. The name sent back vibrant memories, that she really didn't want to unlock again.
"Oh still the posh self-entitled asshead he used to be" Logan said, his laugh not quite reaching his mouth.
"And Shira?" Rory asked, quickly moving on.
"She divorced Mitchum" Logan said, smiling sadly.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't hear" Rory said placing her head on his shoulder.
Logan stroked her head, "Turns out Mitchum, had slept with every girl he ever met, and Shira had slept with every man she met. They found it out about eachother a few months ago. They both denied their own foul play but accused the other. One thing turned to another and since Mitchum had way better lawyers, Shira moved in with one of the men she had slept with."
Rory gasped, "I'm sorry"
"I don't why it hurts, I never liked Shira or Mitchum. But somehow there was comfort in knowing that they were together, My mother and my Father, it's just weird, I guess that they are not together. But it's not your fault, ace" Logan explained, avoiding eye contact.
Rory pulled up his face to hers, a sudden adrenaline rush flooding through her.
"I'll be here for you" and with that she pulled his lips to hers.
