Chapter 16: The Frog Prince!

I just got surgery on the 20th of this month so I'm going to be resting while I heal so the next chapter might not be until two months from now.

It's been a week since the events of the Zuka club have happened and everything has been quiet. Too quiet, it was more than he was used to at this school. He was a little on edge because of it, expecting some sort of scheme or something he would be dragged into.

Suddenly the doors slammed open causing the male the jump in his seat. He looked up to see a distressed male with tears in his eyes. The male's eyes focused on him as he ran over. "M-Miss Hideyoshi! I need your assistance!" He exclaimed, bowing down on his hands and knees.

Daniel knew the quiet was too good to be true and he sighed before looking down at the male, begging for him to help with whatever.

"Hey, no need to do that, calm down and tell me what's wrong," Daniel told the male, hearing him sniff and stand up, rubbing his eyes.

"S-Sorry." He replied before calming himself and looking at him. "Let me explain. I am Hitomu Suzuki, third year and president of the drama club." He told him.

'Tamaki would be great in that club.' Daniel thought to himself before the male continued.

"Recently we have started producing a play, 'The Frog Prince.' Everything was going as plan, we have most of our cast filled, especially for the Princess. We have finished casting her last week and are still casting for the Frog Prince, but tragedy struck! The student portraying the Princess broke her leg and we have no time to find another to take her place!" He explained. Daniel could already tell where this was going.

"So you want me to play the princess?" Daniel questioned.

"Exactly! You would be the perfect replacement! Please accept our offer, you won't regret it!" He told her, his eyes sparkling as he took hold of his hands causing the male to sweatdrop.

He really didn't want to be a part of a play, he already had to deal with the Host Club, but just seeing the other pleading with him with his eyes broke him. Daniel sighed as he pulled his hands away. "Fine, I'll be a part of your play, Suzuki-Senpai." He told him making him grin and hug him tightly.

"Oh, thank you! Thank you so much, Miss. Hideyoshi!" He exclaimed before releasing the male. Daniel could already feel himself regretting this decision. "Please, come by the drama club after school, we'll have your script ready for you and you can get settled in." He told him before leaving the room, giving him a wave. "See you then!" He told him, leaving Daniel to his thoughts.

"What have I gotten myself into this time?" He muttered to himself sitting back down at his desk.

Daniel didn't know what he expected when he came across the Drama Club's room. It definitely wasn't this though! It was something from a filming studio, there were cameras, costume directors, producers, it wasn't anything like the drama clubs he's used to. "This is too much for a drama club." He said before a voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

"Ah! Danielle-chan! You actually came!" Hitomu exclaimed hurrying over and hugging the male before letting go and leading him away. "Come on, this way! We need to make sure your costume fits or not." He told him heading to a different area of the club room where a girl was talking to what he assumed was one of the costume designers.

"Ito-san, Danielle's here!" Hitomu called out to the girl causing her to perk up and look over, spotting Daniel.

"You actually convinced her! I can't believe it!" She squealed heading over and holding Daniel's hands looking him over.

"I'm Ito Ono, and you're so much prettier up close and in person. Here! Let's try the princess gown on and make some adjustments if needed." She told him pulling him over to the changing rooms.

Daniel, unfortunately, had grown used to being forced to wear dresses so he hardly reacted to having to wear a dress. It was just what they did in the Host Club anyway.

The dress was a Victorian-style dress with a green and yellow color pallet. It was ruffled galore and Daniel felt the dress was too big for him. When Daniel stepped out of the changing rooms he heard a squeal from Ito.

"You look so cute! It's a little bit, but it looks amazing on you! I can't wait to see what the hair and makeup will add to it!" Ito gushed.

"No cutting it," Daniel told them sharply.

Ito just giggled. "Oh don't worry, we're just going to style it up, not cutting will be needed." She reassured him as the professional hairdresser started brushing his hair and braided it. Once that was finished the makeup artist started attending his face, doing his makeup.

As soon as they were done Daniel was allowed to look at himself in the mirror. The first thing he noticed was how his makeup brought out his eyes and lips more in comparison to the dress.

"Shouldn't dress rehearsals be done once everything else is finished?" Daniel asked making Ito laugh.

"Oh, Danielle. This is just to make sure the dress and makeup fit perfectly. Plus all that matters is that we practice and that the play's outcome is as perfect as it can be!" She exclaimed before Hitomu clapped his hand together in excitement.

"Now that you're dressed, let's start with your first scene!" He told him leading him off to the stage.

A week later and Daniel was adjusting to doing the playwork while doing his part in the Host Club. It was exhausting and he hasn't told anyone he was in the play. He didn't want them to know, but of course, he couldn't have things go his way when Tamaki slammed open the doors to the music room making Daniel looked over.

"Daniel! Why didn't you tell us you were in the play!?" He asked holding out a poster of the play. "You should know there's a kissing scene in it! I can't have my son kissing anyone!" Tamaki exclaimed as Daniel rolled his eyes.

"It's just a play, Senpai. It's not that important, plus it's not like it's going to be a real kiss." He told him before the doors slammed open again revealing Jiro with his other friends making him groan.

"You're staring in a play!? Why didn't you tell us? I thought we were your friends, and don't you know about the kissing scene!?" Jiro exclaimed with tears in his eyes as he held another poster for the play.

Daniel just rubbed his temple as both clubs looked at the posters. "Daniel could pass off as a princess looking like this," Hikaru noted. "Though that's the only thing he has going for him," Hikaru said.

"What is that supposed to mean!?" Daniel exclaimed glaring at Hikaru.

"He's saying you don't act like a princess," Yuri told him making Daniel huff.

"I've been doing a good job, acting, I've been practicing for about a week now," Daniel told them, crossing his arms.

"Look here! It says they're still finding someone to play the Frog Prince." Honey pointed at the bottom of the poster where there were still parts open for the taking. This caught all of their attention.

"Well, gentlemen, as club president I will play the part as the Frog Prince," Tamaki told them.

"As if, Boss! What if we want to audition and get the part?" The Twins argued.

"I'm not letting any of you guys get the part, that belongs to me, his best friend!" Jiro exclaimed before the clubs argued with each other.

Daniel groaned and sat down on the couch before looking up when Riku walked over and smiled at him and patted his shoulder.

"Thanks, Riku. I would rather want you to play the part if you were able to talk." Daniel told Riku making the male smile apologetically.

"Will you bastards, shut up! If you want the part then audition for it!" Yuri snapped at them as he stormed over to Daniel and Riku, sitting next to Riku who leaned against him and smiled up at him to calm him down.

Yuri let out a sigh. "I swear to god your friends are annoying."

"They're your friends too." Daniel retorted making Yuri tsk as Riku silently giggled.

"Yuri's right, let's go an audition for the part, I'm sure not many people are auditioning anyway." Hikari smiled.

Daniel was speechless when he saw a huge line in front of the drama club doors for auditioning. The others were just as speechless until Kyoya spoke up.

"It makes sense since Danielle is popular many people would audition to be able to kiss them," Kyoya told them making Daniel roll his eyes.

"Oh no, I guess you guys can't audition, too bad. Oh well, let's go home now." Daniel told them turning to walk away until Tamaki's hand landed on his shoulder.

"We're prepared to wait!" Tamaki declared making Daniel slump down questioning his life choices.

The others immediately got in line to wait as the auditions went on. Daniel just sighed waiting outside after waiting an hour or two with Riku and Kyoya as the others were inside for auditions. "I just want to go home and sleep." Daniel sulked as Riku patted his head.

Tamaki was the first to come out. "I have complete confidence I will get the part!" He declared to them as he stood by to wait for the others.

"As if any of you are going to get the part," Daniel replied before the others came out once they were done.

"Now what?" The Twins asked once they were all together.

"Usually it takes a couple of days to a week for a decision to be made," Kyoya told them.

Daniel just sighed before looking up seeing Aaron run to the doors. "Hey, Aaron." He said making the others look over at him.

Aaron squeaked and stood straight up. "Uh, hi Daniel-lle," he said catching his slipup with a small blush on his face.

"A-chan are you going to audition too?" Honey asked as Aaron nodded shyly.

"He probably just wants to kiss Danielle like the rest of them," Hikaru stated with a roll of his eyes making Daniel glare at him.

"Did you forget you auditioned too! You all did except for Riku and Kyoya." Daniel told them as Aaron stood by awkwardly.

"I-uh should go and audition. Um, see ya later Danielle, guys." Aaron smiled slightly before hurrying to get in to audition.

The next couple of days was filled with anticipation on who got the part of the Frog Prince. Daniel has been getting more male customers during this time because of the play. It was tiring and he was regretting saying yes to play the part of the Princess.

When knowledge came out that the casting was complete and there were new posters everyone went to see who got the part.

"I got the part?" Haruhi said in disbelief as well as the others around them.

"I can work with this," Daniel said relieved that it wasn't one of the others.

"How can this be!? I should've gotten that part!" Jiro exclaimed dramatically sulking with Tamaki.

Aaron peeked up at the poster and saw he was Haruhi's understudy. "I'm your understudy, Haruhi." He told her this just added to the others' disappointment.

"Congrats you two," Daniel told them with a smile making Aaron blush slightly.

"Yeah, kinda figured I wouldn't get the part," Yuri said nonchalantly as the twins looked at him.

"Why did you audition anyway when you know there was a kissing scene and you already have a boyfriend?" They asked him.

"Because it would've given everyone else less of a chance if more people auditioned." Yuri chuckled as the twins glared at him irritatedly.

"Yuri actually loves acting! He's really good at it." Hikari told them making Yuri glare at him for revealing that information.

"If you like acting, why did you join the Cooking Club and not the Drama Club, Yu-chan?" Honey asked him, looking up at him.

"Because he likes Riku more and likes to make Riku food." Jiro snickered, over his depressed mood before Yuri stepped on his foot making him yelp and jump back.

"Why am I friends with any of you?" Daniel sighed since he has to deal with this every day.

For a while, things were fine for Daniel when all the roles were filled and he rehearsed with Haruhi. Aaron would rehearse with them and it was a good time. Until one day he heard a commotion coming from the drama room as he walked there with Haruhi and Daniel.

"Please tell me it's not..." Daniel started as Haruhi facepalmed.

"It is." She finished as the three of them headed inside.

The further they got it was obvious it was the Host Club and the Cooking Club arguing with Hitomu.

"I will not have them kiss each other! That scene should be removed!" Tamaki exclaimed.

"Danielle's not going to have his first kiss during a play, it's not right!" Jiro exclaimed with Tamaki as Hitomu looked overwhelmed.

"What's going on here?" Daniel shouted causing them to look over.

"You guys are unbelievable, it's just a play, the kiss won't be real, our lips won't even touch." Haruhi sighed.

"But but but but!" Tamaki started before the doors opened revealing Ito and the Vice-Principal.

"I'm back." She panted looking as if she had just run a marathon.

"Thank goodness," Hitomu said in relief looking like he was about to start crying.

"Now if I am hearing this correctly, this quarrel is over a kissing scene." Kazama questioned calmly. "From what I've seen and heard the students performing the kissing scene don't have a problem with this so you are creating unnecessary trouble. So the solution is simple." Kazama told them before looking at both clubs. "You will be banned from interacting with the actors and the set and everything else about the play that is being put on, if I hear of you all trying to jeopardize the play you will be punished. Do I make myself clear?" He told them.

All the members of both clubs, minus Daniel and Haruhi bowed. "Yes sir." They told him.

Kazama nodded before turning to leave. "That will be all." He told them heading back to go back to doing his job.

Daniel glared at them. "This is what you guys get for trying to make everything go your way." He snapped at them making them all look down guiltily.

"Come on, Haruhi, we have a play to rehearse for," Daniel told Haruhi walking off with the script for his part.

For the rest of the time, he and Haruhi rehearsed Daniel has been giving the others the cold shoulder, giving them the silent treatment. During his time hosting Daniel hardly talked to the others unless it involved club stuff or school stuff.

"This sucks." Hikari sighed as both clubs were in the host club's room for a meeting place.

"Yeah, Daniel's really mad. He's acting like we don't exist." The twins sulked as did everyone else.

"The only ones he'll talk with are Haruhi, Aaron, and Riku," Yuri told them and looked at Riku.

Riku looked up seeing the others looking at him and started moving his hands. 'You guys keep getting involved with everything he does, of course, he's upset about it.' He told them through sign language.

"We can't just sit here and do nothing! We have to make it up to him and Haruhi." Tamaki declared standing up. "Gentleman, I have a plan." He told them and huddled up.

Aaron walked into the drama room, he had some questions since the play was coming up and he knew he should say them now instead of waiting. He just wasn't good at socialization. He paused when he heard Hitomu and Ito talking to each other.

"This is going to be the best play ever produced at Ouran, we never had so many people involved!" Hitomu exclaimed.

"It's thanks to you for getting Danielle and Haruhi into the play, mostly Danielle, who knew all it takes is having some of the most popular students involved will make people come to the drama club," Ito told him swooning. "Aren't they so cute together, Haruhi makes such a handsome prince!" She told him.

"I would follow under Danielle's rule any day." Hitomu sighed as the two were swooning over Haruhi and Daniel.

Aaron was frozen hearing this information. This was just a ploy to make the drama club more popular and to fawn over Daniel and Haruhi. It made him upset and angry. "So this is why you got Danielle and Haruhi into the play? So you can satisfy your desires and make people think they're part of the drama club, that's disgusting." Aaron told them, making his presence known.

Hitomu and Ito quickly looked over at Aaron with wide eyes. "No! You misunderstand, this isn't for us, yes it will help make people get involved and maybe join the Drama Club, but we wouldn't do such things! We just want to make a play people will actually enjoy and we have high hopes for this one." Hitomu explained.

"Aaron, the Drama Club hasn't been very popular in a long time, with the Host Club and the Cooking Club gaining popularity no one really cares about performing and acting or just plays in general. We can't force you not to tell the others, but we just want this play to be successful." Ito told him as they looked down.

Aaron didn't expect this as his earlier confidence of standing up to them shattered. It was so close to the performance date and he didn't want to be the reason for it to be canceled. They all worked so hard to make this a success and he couldn't blame them for just wanting to remind people that the Drama Club existed.

His shoulders sagged as he sighed. "I-I won't say anything." He told them before they both hugged him.

"Thank you so much! We'll make it up to you somehow, you're such a good person." Hitomu told him as Aaron looked down shyly.

'Why can't I stand up for myself or say no to people?' Aaron thought to himself as he left the drama club after that confrontation. As he got to the entrance he paused and groaned when he realized he never asked those questions.

After long hours of practicing and working in the drama club as the main 'actress', today was the day the play would be performed in front of a live audience. It was different than in the Host Club by just trying to make customers happy.

Daniel was all dressed up and he couldn't stop himself from peeking from behind the curtains seeing a full house of people chatting and waiting for the play to start.

"I can't do this, there are way too many people," Daniel said moving back, feeling a little nauseous.

Haruhi placed a hand on his shoulder. "Just think of this as one of the Host Club themes. You'll be fine." She told him trying her best to comfort him.

"This is a little different than the Host Club, Haruhi." He told her feeling his nerves act up.

"Um, Danielle, just take deep breathes with me, okay?" Aaron asked him looking at him worriedly before he started taking deep breathes. Shortly after Daniel copied him and he soon felt a bit better.

"Thanks, Aaron." He smiled at him making him blush slightly and look away.

"N-No problem!" He replied to Daniel blushing more before heading off to calm himself down before the play started.

~Final Act of the Play~

"Kiss me, princess. Keep your promise." The frog said as the princess looked freaked out.

"I can't kiss a frog!" She exclaimed as she tried to find a way out of this.

The frog frowned in disappointment. "I have helped you get your golden ball, but you cannot return thy kindness?" He said and the princess paused and bit her lip in guilt.

"Just, one kiss." She said making the frog perk up.

The princess took a deep breath and bent down and kissed the frog's lips with her eyes closed. When she moved back and opened her eyes she saw a prince with a dark blue suit with a golden crown atop his golden hair.

'Wait, what is Aaron doing as the prince I thought Haruhi was...' Daniel thought as he glanced behind him seeing Haruhi in her normal clothes on the phone, it looked urgent. He saw Hitomu usher him to continue.

"You're a Prince!?" The Princess exclaimed in shock as she looked over at the male.

"Yes, I have been cursed by a witch to be a frog till a Princess returns me to my original form with a kiss." The prince said looking down, his voice changed as well as his form.

"If I would have known you were a Prince... I have been selfish." The princess admitted thinking back to her behavior. "I'm so sorry." She told him looking up.

"I'll only forgive you if you give me a kiss and marry me." The prince said smiling down at her.

A blush covered her cheeks as she looked away. "I-I'll marry you." She said looking up into his eyes before the two shared a kiss and they lived happily ever after. The End.

Once the curtains closed the audience erupted in claps and cheers. Daniel and Aaron pulled apart. "You didn't stutter once, good job," Daniel told him as they went back as other cast members went out front to bow.

Aaron rubbed the back of his neck nervously a blush still on his cheeks. "Yeah, I hardly had time to process the sudden change of positions."

"Why did you and Haruhi switch positions?" Daniel asked before they went out and bowed.

"Well..." Aaron said as he thought of what happened.

Everything was going as planned and Haruhi had just finished her lines before the kissing scene of Daniel with the prop frog they used when Aaron looked over hearing Haruhi talk to Hitomu while holding her phone in her hand.

"Aaron's already dressed and I can't stay long, I have to make it back home before my dad gets home and he just got out of work." Aaron heard part of the conversation before Hitomu walked over and ushered him to hurry out there.

"Let's just say it was a last minute decision." Aaron smiled nervously after they left the stage.

Daniel shrugged and went to take off the costume. Before he got the chance to he was engulfed in a hug by his mother. "Oh, baby I'm so proud of you! You did a fantastic job!" She squealed smiling brightly as his father patted his back with a smile.

Daniel couldn't help but smile as he hugged his parents hugged him back. "Thanks, mom, dad." He told them before the doors to the stage burst open revealing the Host Club and the Cooking Club.

"We missed the play!" They exclaimed, most of them sobbing making Daniel roll his eyes.

Yuri gave Daniel a thumbs up making him get the message that whatever plan they were going to do Yuri made sure they didn't do it in time.

'What idiots.' Daniel rolled his eyes but unconsciously touched his lips.

From Quotev:

MothMan: The twins and Daniel is a power trio I never knew I fully needed until this chapter. Also, is Hikaru flirting?

Hehehehehe, yes they are a power trio. Once chapter 18 comes around we might have a love interest finalized, or maybe not and I'm just pulling your leg. So you'll just have to wait and see, but there are more hints coming and more often.

Also, I love comments so much, especially same-day comments as to when I update, that made my day.
