The heavy, thick steel blast doors to the Death Egg's medical bay slowly parted, (Much akin to the way a certain figure in religion parted a certain sea.) a low hissing noise emerging from the doors, the particular hissing sounding much like a snake being cheated out of eating a door mouse and letting you know it's now intense irritation.

Ivo Robotnik swiftly stepped through the now opened passage, the small bundle of musty smelling, dirty yellow and white fur known as Miles cradled in his arms. The layers of grime stuck in his fur practically staining the doctors bright red lab jacket.

Robotnik didn't mind though, what mattered was that the boy was safe and healed. As well as a bath or more accurately a power-wash, for the toddlers stench was so…unbelievably revolting that not even I can find any words to describe it, the only thing that would even come close it is a mix of raw sewage and rotting seaweed on a boiling day in July.

The medical bay was rather large, bearing in mind it was originally designed to only realistically sustain one human and maybe a few prisoners but that was besides the point. The walls of the bay were a marble white and decorated with an assortment of cupboards drawers, anatomy diagrams, basic medical jargon etc…

However there was a couple of beds and that would do for a start, he gently and slowly set the battered, exhausted and stinking toddler onto the bed and gently lay him down, before turning to one of the drawers and then beginning to search through them, trying to find one of his many medical tools.

The boy was shivering with nervousness, he was slightly concerned about what all of those funny pictures of cut up people that dotted and decorated the walls as he like many other people didn't want to be cut up and have his internal organs visible.

However relief washed over him when he noticed that the Doctor had only pulled out a small digital thermometer and stethoscope and setting one of them down on the small, white bedside table along with a mysterious packet of unidentifiable pills, Robotnik gave the toddler a small smile and said in a calming tone to the small boy,

"Ok Miles, just stay still while I take your temperature. Can you do that for me?"

The toddler nodded, his bright sapphire blue eyes lit up in curiosity as he watched the strange device slowly be inserted into his mouth, however he didn't flinch or move away. The thermometer beeped within his mouth, signalling it had done it's job and as quickly as he had put it in, Robotnik pulled it out and analysed the reading on the small screen of the device,

"Hmmmm…103 fever… Kid do you still feel sick at all?" he asked Miles with concern, placing one now dirty, white gloved hand on the boy's shoulder.

Unfortunately however instead of being met with a worded response, it was a high pitched squeal of pain and Miles swiftly backing away in fear and shock, Robotnik responded almost instantaneously and then quickly said in a hushed voice,

"Oh, I'm sorry little guy!"

However it is very hard to calm down a toddler like Miles, especially considering all that the young boy had been through in his measly 2 years of life.

The little fox whimpered his blue eyes wide with fright at what the doctor had done and the sheer, agonising pain that had shot through his arm.

However Robotnik knew how to respond and immediately he reached one of his hands behind the toddler's head and softly scratched that one sensitive area behind his ears, sending the soothing and calming feeling shooting through his body and mind.

Miles's body relaxed and the toddler's previously rapid breathing calmed and returned to a rather slow and steady rhythm, his mind only focussing on that warm, comforting feeling that the Doctor's hand was giving him, he could barely feel the pain in his shoulder anymore.

"There we go kid…feel better now?" Robotnik asked in a calming tone to the young fox.

Miles nodded and looked into the dark coloured glasses the Doctor was wearing, and a question emerged in his mind that he wanted to ask, it was something he had wanted to have for a while and from the boy's abhorrent

"D-Doctor…could I have a bath? I-I haven't had one in a really long time…"

Robotnik smiled at the young boy, he was thankful that he had asked for one since internally he was worrying that the foul, ungodly…miasma of the boy may cause permanent damage to his sense of smell and utterly destroy his nose's ability to smell anything ever again.

"Of course you can Miles, I'll just go and run one now, just stay here for a minute or two."

The little fox obeyed thankfully as Robotnik stood up and left the main room of the Death Egg's medical bay and into the rather small washroom, it was rather bare, with a couple of cupboards, a small sink and mirror, a small toilet and a rather large bathtub, the white porcelain shining as the light reflected off of the white surface.

He filled it with steaming hot water and made sure to give the little fox a small treat and add bubble mixture as the water slowly filled the bathtub, then he turned to one of the small stands which held a rather wide variety of soaps, shower gel and other things with which to clean with. The bottles stood in a variety of colours, from a pale teal sheen to a deep, rich purple, it was like a cleansing rainbow. However, Robotnik would certainly need to use at least 3 of them just to remove the entire layers of grime that coated the pelt of the young fox, how he could have gotten that dirty was astounding, yes he slept in skip bins and practically lived on scraps and rotten food but still. It wouldn't have made an entire god damn power-wash necessary.

He left the room when the bathtub had been brought up to an acceptable level, he left the room and turned to face the boy who was sitting down on the bed,

"Miles, your bath's ready come on through."

The little fox shot up and slowly walked into the bathroom into the doctor and practically leapt into the hot water, the little kit causing quite the splash that sent water cascading around the room, unintentionally soaking Robotnik's coat. But he didn't mind, the little kit needed a bath desperately and then…well Robotnik had an idea in store for the boy.

The young fox giggled as he splashed around and played in the water, while of course making sure to keep his injured shoulder away from harm. Seeing how much fun the boy was having created a warming feeling in the Doctor's heart, it was nice seeing the boy truly smiling for once, the little boy had been through so much in his short life and he deserved to have somebody to be there for him and care about him, to have a home to go to. And in that moment, Ivo Robotnik decided, if no-one else would be that person who would care for the boy…then he would.
