Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Broken Shadows. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Halo; Microsoft and a few others do.

Osman looked over her crew as they walked forward, a crew of 3 ODSTs, a scientist, her, an AI… And a pair of Spartans, both of whom were still arriving slowly.

There was a thump below as the sounds of footsteps filled the air. She knew what they were. Osman slowly began the steps down to where the pelican had docked.

"They brought in the big guns?" Osman heard, causing her to shake her head.

They walked down below, Black Box traveling through the systems faster than anything they could possibly muster as humans. It was a short walk to the docking bay where they located the duo.

Osman was greeted by 2 armor clad beings, the first was clad in purple blueish armor, their golden visor the same as it usually was. An M6 rifle strapped across their back. She was 6.7ft, towering over the others. She was a spartan, just as powerful as the others. She looked up, unfazed as to think about what came down to it.

She looked at the other armor-clad being. One who was draped in crimson steeled armor. A customized M6 magnum sat on his hip, almost as unusual as the skull placed on their blue face place. Osman knew it was 'War Master' Armor, standard for any headhunter within the IIIs ranks. He didn't stagger, he moved like a cat, like a serpent.

There was a SRS99-S5 AM sniper laid across his back. A M395 DMR laid lower. Osman had known that he was a marksman, not as good as 51…. But he was damn good at his job. He towered over the II by a couple of feet. She had heard that he was 7ft or such, taller than her, enough that he had to lean his head to stare her in the eye. They were close enough to stab the other to death, sizing each other up, analyzing the opposite spartan like they were taught to.

"SabertC-057?" Osman called, turning him from the blueish armored soldier. "I see you've met Naomi-010." Osman added to which Sabert turned his attention back to Naomi.

"We've met, a Spartan II, one of hers." Sabert stated, crossing his hulking arms. "You're not a hunter, you're an frontliner." Sabert added to which Naomi nodded.

"And you're an assassin, one of the IIIs, weren't you?" Naomi questioned, shrugging. "Your armor, your equipment. You're a headhunter." Naomi stated to which Sabert hummed.

"Yep." Sabert stated before he turned to look back towards Osman. "Reporting for duty, ma'am. I'm surprised there is 2 Spartans in this group, I didn't think there would be another here." Sabert said, looking at Naomi once more.

He knew how dangerous an II was, Colonel Ackerson had informed them of what one was like before he died. The spartan could only imagined he died protecting humanity to the last despite all of his flaws and misgivings.

"Neither did I." Naomi said before both finally stepped apart. "What's the assignment, ma'am?" Naomi questioned, her voice sounding more serious and reserved now.

Osman looked between both of them with interest. She had been given 2 of the most elite, most deadly soldiers in the UNSC military, both of whom had accomplished feats one could only dream of. If they were normal soldiers? They'd be officers several times over. As Spartans? It was expected of them.

"I assume both of you have been briefed on your reassignment?" Osman questioned, gaining a nod from them. "Good, welcome to Kilo Five. You will be here a while; you will be sent on missions that are so off the books I could have both of you killed 50 times over the second you speak a word of this to anyone or anything." Osman stated to which they nodded.

Neither spartan spoke at all, they knew what this was. They knew what to expect on this assignment. Both knew to fight, to kill, to hunt. They exceled at it; war was part of what they were as soldiers. Osman watched straighten up, ready for their orders from her. They were both ready for their mission, whatever it was.

Naomi turned to look around as the Spartans were curious. Both expected a much grander mission, but it wasn't to be surprising when it came down to it. The war was over; however, they weren't needed in the same way anymore.

Sabert stayed silent, only pausing to turn a gaze to Naomi. There was a curious gait to his movements, both Spartans were still silently analyzing the other.

Osman knew BOTH classes were carrying a thousand different mental, emotional, and physiological issues. A doctor would have a field day unwinding them.

'An II, one of the best, most sociopathic soldiers trained from 10 to be a weapon of death. Raised by one of the most brilliant, egotistical scientists alive and capable of making humanity obsolete… And one who's a long-range asset.' Osman thought as she looked at Naomi before turning to the side.

'And a three, an orphan trained to be an expendable shock trooper with xenophobia drilled in…. And trained by that scientist's worst enemy. I have 2 soldiers born and raised to be the most elite weapons, and both of them seem to be both analyzing each other. They also seem to want to murder each other. Lovely.' Osman thought as they walked through the door to the bridge.

The rest of Kilo Five spread out across the bridge. Osman turned to the two Spartans, both of whom were relaxed, awaiting orders from their commander.

"Spartans?" Osman stated as she turned to them. "I don't believe proper introductions have been made. I know both IIs and IIIs are very different. However? Both of you have been assigned to this unit because of your unique skillsets." Osman stated as both Spartans snapped into relaxed positions as they all looked around the room.

Both Spartans nodded as Osman turned to the bridge. They had work to do, she had to check their sheets. It was something that the ONI agent knew well, she prided herself on their duty and ability to think outside the box. Osman didn't say much, curious as both soldiers would check out.

"I need to speak with you both." Osman stated as both Spartans shared a look to each other. "Now if you don't mind, Sierra." Osman added as both Spartans nodded to each other.

She needed to address this mission, nip it in the buds before something happened next. There was plenty of work to be done before ONI's work was done.

Both Spartans followed before she hummed to herself and nodded to herself. There was work to be carried out.

Author Notes

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show more on Sabert and Naomi's pasts and characters. Next chapter will be 900-5500 words and such. It will show both Naomi and Sabert talking when it comes down to it. It will show both that and Kilo's first mission. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
