Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Broken Shadows. Enjoy the 1000-word chapter. I don't own Halo; Microsoft and a few others do.

"You hate me, don't you?" Sabert heard from Naomi before he stepped closer. "I know what a headhunter can do. They do a lot of nasty missions for the UNSC." Naomi stated as the two Spartans faced their other.

This was the first time the duo had seen each other without their trademark MJOLNIR armor. It was funny to most considering how they lived within the shell which surrounded them. It seemed a lot more like two heavy weight boxers sizing the other up. Not that they weren't similar enough to be considered it.

Naomi looked at the spartan who was an inch taller. He looked at her through blackish crimson eyes. She could see several cuts, the characteristic cuts of a Sangheili energy blade. One of the cuts ran from above his right eye to the side of his chin.

He noticed that Naomi had worn her shoulder length blonde hair in a pony tail. Her piercing blue eyes seemed as laser focused as his was. She wasn't as muscular as him, probably the result of her augments that gave her the strength. However? There was plenty of emotion between both Spartans when it came down to it. They were still studying each other like one would do on a computer. Still? Both Spartans needed to

"No, the colonel talked a lot about what you are when he trained us, though." Sabert said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Chief used to compare us a lot to them. It was something special when I thought about it. Never knew much about you all when I was a kid." Sabert said as he hummed.

"I only heard rumors about IIIs." Naomi added to which Sabert hummed, raising an eyebrow as he did so. "And even less about the headhunters. Their one of the most dangerous things about the UNSC." Naomi put in as Sabert nodded.

"Headhunters are the best of the best in the IIIs." Sabert put in before he looked around. "Is it true? What the chief said about you all?" Sabert put in before he hummed to himself.

"Chief?" Naomi questioned before she blinked. "You mean…" Naomi said to which Sabert nodded.

"Who do you think they sent?" Sabert question before looking over his shoulder. "There was a lot of history between our groups. Why did you want me to think that?" Sabert asked before he shook his head.

He leaned on the wall as he hummed to himself. Sabert wasn't stupid. They had trained Headhunters to be some of the best in the corps, if one couldn't really adept? They wouldn't be surviving this long in combat. There was a lot of stuff that Spartans couldn't discuss without getting 'retired'.

'I wonder if anyone I talk to goes to Midnight. ONI spooks want to throw everyone in there… And they call US the sociopaths.' Sabert thought before he waited for Naomi to answer his question.

Still? There was plenty of business to do at the moment. ONI wouldn't recruit 2 Spartans for one mission, especially one who was built to be a lone wolf.

"I see your both settling in fine." Both Spartans heard before they turned to look over his shoulder. "There's a mission I need you all for. I need you both suited up in 2 hours. I know you both just slept, both of your profiles show you sleep in 2-minute increments." They both heard as they shook their head.

Both Spartans shared a look between themselves. There was a look of emotion and conveyance. They weren't friends, not yet… But both knew that there was more to talk about.

"We're talk about this later." Sabert stated as he went to move into his room.

Both Spartans decided to pass this when it came down to it. There was more to say, but both knew what a mission was like when they considered it. They still intended to have this talk when they returned to the vessel.

They vanished into their rooms, ready to get this mission done. If it was anything like what they were used to? Then they'd be done and over with it in a few hours.

"You, ok?" Osman asked before both Spartans vanished into their room at the moment. "Hmm…" Osman said as both Spartans started to think about the mission.

Both Spartans were curious about the assignment. Osman knew both had wildly differently skillsets sooner or later. Both Spartans were quite lethal, but both were most eager to get onto work.

Osman could hear the sounds of armor sliding and clicking into place, both sets of MJOLNIR made noise as it did so. Sabert was out a minute later, his helmet slid over his head as the headhunter turned towards Naomi. The soldiers shared a look before Sabert spoke up.

"What is the mission, ma'am?" Sabert questioned as he and Naomi both cracked their joints. "Asset denial? VIP elimination?" Sabert asked to which Osman hummed.

Both Spartans showed different posture and body language. Sabert looked far more at ease and relaxed, the sign of a soldier who was used to his work and prepared. Naomi was slightly alert, but far more curious in her surroundings.

"Asset retrieval. You and Kilo Five are going to be handling it personally." Osman responded as the Spartans shared a look. "I'm well aware of how effective Spartans are by themselves." Osman said as both Spartans looked at each other.

'This will be interesting.' Naomi and Osman thought to each other.
