Chapter 3: Beacon of Hope

Thanks to their knowledge of certain heroes from their old world they decided to teach Izuku how to fight and maybe how to build weapons.

Though at the moment he was a little 4 year old and they were a pair of 6 years old so it was kind of limited…

However the first idea actually came from Izuku himself. Making analsis notebooks about quirks...

"If I watch hero fights I can learn about their quirks." Said Izuku, "And I can figure out how they work!"

The twins looked at their little brother.

"That's really smart!" said Dipper impressed with the idea.

"Really?" asked Izuku.

Dipper nodded.

"No…" thought Mabel, "My other brother is a nerd."

It was clear that Izuku was going about his plan in a smart way and he was really good for taking these notes even as a four year old.

However things did not go well in his pre-school.

The other kids started to bully him and mock him.

Eventually it reached a point where Katsuki had started to join in.

And Izuku tearfully admitted that the boy who he knew since he was a baby was doing horrible things to him.

"Don't worry Zuzu! Everything will be fine! Don't worry!" said Mabel with an evil grin.

Once she left the room the two brothers were very concerned.

"What is Hoshiko going to do?" asked Izuku.

"I don't know… but I'm worried…" replied Dipper.

And with that every time Mabel over the course of the next couple weeks would beat up Katsuki without using her quirk.

"Why the fuck do you keep beating me up." Said Katsuki.

"I'm telling your mom you used a bad word." Said Mabel.

She usually didn't care but she was so angry with him she didn't mind ratting him out.

"Don't!" yelled Katsuki.

"Also I should tell her you have been beating up Izuku!" said Mabel.

Katsuki glared at Mabel.

"It's his fault!" yelled Katsuki.

Mabel punched him hard in the face.

"Don't you dare blame the fact that he's quirk less!" cried Mabel.

She then punched again him really hard.

Katsuki glared at the older girl.

"He's always looking down on me!" yelled Katsuki.

"What?" asked Mabel.

Mabel stared genuinely confused at the younger boy.

"He's always looking down on me like I need help…" muttered Katsuki, "I'm the one with the quirk not him.,"

She stared at him like he had three heads.

"Izuku isn't like that!" yelled Mabel, "He would never look down on some! I don't even know if he can look down on someone!"

"What?" asked Katsuki .

"He thinks you're so awesome! And he just wants to be your friend!" yelled Mabel "And you're being a huge jerk! You've known each other since you were babies and everyone but me and Hiroki are being even bigger jerks!"

"Well he shouldn't try to be a hero!" yelled Katsuki.

"Why not!" yelled Mabel.

"Because he's weak! You can't win a fight without a quirk!" yelled Katsuki.

"But I did! And I kept doing it!" said Mabel.

"What!" yelled Katsuki.

"I didn't use my quirk once when I beat you up once!" yelled Mabel.

Katsuki blinked.

He tried to think but then realized that yeah… she didn't use her quirk once during the fight.

Especially since she discovered she could use her quirk to create something akin to boxing gloves… and those "boxing gloves" really hurt.

"Fine you don't believe me!" yelled Mabel.

She formed a shield around her hand.

Katsuki winced once again he knew that the shield boxing glove hurt.

That wasn't what she was doing.

Instead she formed another shield around their hand and she dragged him along.

"Handcuff us together?" asked Katsuki.

"This is so you won't hurt my hand." Said Mabel.

She dragged Katsuki home and made him talk to Izuku.

"You think I look down on your Kacchan?" asked Izuku confused.

"Why else did you try to help me up after I fell?" demanded Katsuki.

"I was making sure you don't get hurt." Said Izuku.

"Wait… was it just a trip?" Mabel.

"No Kacchan fell off a log and into a river." Said Izuku.

"It wasn't that big!" yelled Katsuki.

"No I think Izuku's right I mean what if you hurt yourself on some rocks?" asked Dipper who was also in the room, "I mean if you fell on some rocks you could have gotten really hurt."

Katsuki froze when Dipper said that.

"Or you could have hit your head…" said Mabel.

"You could have also broken a bone…" said Dipper.

Izuku nodded.

"You could have gotten hurt and…" said Izuku.

"Enough…" said Katsuki.

Katsuki was looking down on the floor.

He hadn't thought of what could happen if he had gotten really hurt.

Or worse…

"Fine… you got a point…" he muttered.

"So are you going to stop hurting Izuku?" asked Mabel with an evil smile.

Katsuki froze.

He really didn't want another beating.

"What did you do?" asked Izuku seeing the look on Katsuki's face.

"It's nothing…" said Mabel.

"She beat me up!" yelled Katsuki.

"Without using my quirk!" said Mabel.

"Hoshiko! That's not what you should be doing!" yelled Izuku.

"What, he was acting like a villain! Why shouldn't I beat him up?" asked Mabel.

Dipper sighed and face palmed.

"We already go through to him…" mentally Dipper to only Mabel.

"hHe still needs more of this…" thought Mabel.

"What…" said Katsuki.

"You were beating up Izuku because you thought he was weak and it was okay to do that." Said Mabel, "So I was the hero helping defend my little brother.

Katsuki froze.

And then Mabel decided to rub it in more .

"Only villains hurt people who don't deserve." Said Mabel.

"Mabel… Mabel… stop he's five…" pointed out Dipper mentally.

"And what do you think he'll do once he's older…" pointed out Mabel, "You saw the way our teachers treated us in preschool because of our quirks. If Aunty Mitsuki is the only one who says stuff to him, what do you think will happen?"

Dipper mentally sighed remember how both of them revised barely scolding due to their powerful quirks.

"Okay… you might have a point on that one…" replied Dipper.

"See…" mentally responded Mabel.

Katsuki saw just staring at the floor horribly confused. He realized that Izuku wasn't looking down on him, he realized that someone not using a quirk can still kick his butt and he realized that he was acting like a villain and not like a hero.

Needless to say it was really bad for his five old mind.

"I don't want to be a villain!" he yelled.

"Then don't like one" yelled Mabel.

"You didn't know you were being a villain." Said Izuku.

Katsuki however shaking as he started crying.

Dipper looked at Mabel who sheepishly smiled.

Thankfully he was fine… though he hung out more and more with Izuku and not the other kids at the school because of the way they mocked and belittled Izuku.

Also Mabel gained a reputation as being very protective of Izuku as sometimes she would beat up the bullies in relation… and also doing other things who were Qurtikist to Izuku.

It was well known was Mabel was overly protective…

Though as time went on and the kids got older.

One day when Izuku and Katsuki were 6, Katsuki noticed the 8 year old Dipper reading a magazine about support items.

To be honest as the years went on, Dipper while he was at first amazed that super heroes were a thing it was amazing but at the same time having super powers himself he realized that the job wouldn't be for him.

Then he heard about the support industry which invented and created items for heroes.

He occultly was rather interested in that.

"I'm thinking of going into support." Said Dipper.

Katsuki stared at Dipper.

"What?" asked Katsuki extremely confused.

"I'm just not interested in becoming a hero. I'd rather build things and maybe even study quirks." Said Dipper .

Katsuki stared at him.

"But you have a strong quirk." Said Katsuki .

It was true, they had yet to find the weight limit to Dipper's powers.

The fact of the matter his quirk was much stronger than his twin's, who still had a good quirk.

"I know… but I just don't want to be a hero." Said Dipper .

Katsuki just stared at Dipper as his brain seemed to short circut

"Didn't want to be a hero… had a strong quirk…" seemed to be what his brain was repeating in a loop.

"Kacchan? Kacchan? Are you okay?" asked Izuku, "You're starting to worry me…"

And with that Katsuki Bakugo got another kick in the pants when it came to heroes if one of the people he personally knew with a really strong quirk didn't want to be a hero, it was just weird…

However less than a year later… Mabel brought up something to Dipper.

"I think we should tell him." Said Mabel.

"What?" asked Dipper.

"You know…" said Mabel.

Dipper realized what she meant.

Their past lives…

"He's really smart he's going to wonder why we know so much about fighting and the internet excuse won't cut it." Said Mabel.

Dipper looked at Mabel.

He know that was only a small fraction on why she wanted to tell him…

"You just want to tell him." Said Dipper.

"Well…" said Mabel.

Dipper was about to say something…

But the more he thought about it…

Sometimes he felt like they should tell someone.

They could never tell their mom. It would be too weird and she wouldn't believe them.

But telling Izuku…

He might not believe them…

But at the same time they were first the people who believed in him. They helped him so much after his Quirkless diagnosis that he would hopefully believe them.

There was really no one else they could tell…

Their dad was overseas and they didn't really like the guy.

But still… they knew they shouldn't keep a secret forever…

In the end it was decided to tell Izuku.

And one day they figured out a time to tell him.

"Izuku can you keep a big secret for us?" asked Mabel .

"What is it?" asked Izuku .

"You know what reincarnation is right?" asked Mabel.

"When someone gets reborn into another life?" asked Izuku.

"You're right." Said Dipper .

The two of them told Izuku about their past lives how they were brother and sister and how they died and were reborn with their memories.

"Oh wow! That's so cool!" yelled Izuku .

"You believe it?" asked Dipper with a sweat drop .

"Why wouldn't I?" asked Izuku.

Dipper was about to say something but then realized they weren't jerky older siblings they were the ones that he could always trust, especially since they were the ones who always believed in him.

Of course there would always be doubts that he really believed him but sometimes they would tell him stories, often about their last summer. Sometimes about their regular life before Gravity Falls .

But still he was their secret keeper.

And though out the years they helped figure out plans for Izuku to get stronger fighting styles looked up online. Such as learning certain weapon styles as well as nurturing his quirk analysis, with Katsuki often helping out when he could.

There was also an incident involving one of the Katsuki's punishment at a park that would inspire Katsuki and traumatize Mabel . But that's neither here nor there at the moment.

Also Mabel finally "tried out" knitting and "found she was a natural" and started to make her trademark sweaters.

Still though out the years things were pretty good.

However one day that should be noted was the twins' 13th birthday.

It was a day both of them woke up feeling horrible.

Dipper went to Mabel's room after both of them refused to leave.

Inko was confused about what was going on.

She did call Mitsuki but she said they were probably starting their moody teenager phase.

"Are you sure… the closted thing I came up was just picturing Hoshiko becoming a goth just to try it out…" said Inko.

"Okay… that is spooky because I've at the same image of her with a big smile and dressed in black saying "I'm so tortured…"" said Mitsuki over the phone.

Izuku was listening on the conversation then decided to go to Mabel's room and snuck in.

He saw his siblings just laying on Mabel' bed.

"Is it just you?" asked Mabel not even looking up.

It was clear they both knew it was Izuku .

"Is mom there?" asked Dipper.

"No…" said Izuku.

"Do you think she'll sneak in?" asked Mabel.

"She's on the phone with Aunty Mitsuki…" said Izuku.

Izuku walked over to the bed.

"What's wrong…" said Izuku.

"We didn't live to see our 13th birthday last time." Said Dipper;.

Izuku's eyes widened.

"You died… when you were 12?" asked Izuku.

"We died a couple days before our birthday…." Said Mabel.

Izuku jumped on the bed and hugged them both.

It was that hug that told them that he always believed the stories that they remembered their past lives.

"So you've been Hoshiko and Hiroki longer than your past lives…" said Izuku.

"It's been that way for a couple days…" said Dipper.

"This isn't all bad…" said Mabel, "If this didn't happen we would have you, or mom or Kacchan…"

'But what about your other friends and family… like Grunkle Stan…." Said Izuku.

"We told you way to many stories about Stan… didn't we?" asked Dipper.

Mabel just laughed.

"You ended up in a Shojo manga because of him." Said Izuku trying not to laugh.

"Why did you tell him that?" asked Dipper .

Mabel just giggled

"We do miss them a lot… but… something tells us you need us more." Said Mabel.

They never told him about the Axolotl… mostly because the whole salamander god might be pushing it.

But still… he was their little brother and a ray of sunshine who absolutely adored them…

It was also moment where they realized they saw themselves more as Hiroki and Hoshiko than Dipper and Mabel…

After by this point they were them longer…

But still time went by…

Izuku started Jr. High, which was a pain as many of the teachers clearly didn't like him due to his quirkless status.

However it was also the final year of Jr. High for Hoshiko and Hiroki.

But it was also time for high school exams.

And the twins made their way to UA. The best hero school in Japan that also had the best support course.

Hoshiko ended up taking the exam for the hero course, which was a fight with a bunch of robots and get points.

Which was easy for her thanks to her shields.

However at one point there she had tripped during the exam.

Before she could put up a shield so that the robot doesn't hit her there was a shout of "Power!" as a figure popped out of the ground and uppercut the robot.

She looked up and saw the person who saved her.

She began to drool.

Why?

Where her savior was a boy… with blonde hair and rather cartoony eyes…

And he naked.

"Hi I'm Hoshiko!" she suddenly yelled.

She started blushing.

The boy laughed.

"It's fine." He said probably used to such reactions to him showing up naked.

That was when another robot tried to attack the boy and Hoshiko summoned her shield gloves and beat down the robot.

"Hey you want to hang out after the exam?" asked Hoshiko.

"Sure!" said the boy with the smile, "I'm Mirio Togata."

Hoshiko giggled as she beat down some more robots.

It wasn't really a date. As Hiroki's exam was the same day of course…

And Togata wasn't alone at the exam either.

As it turned out his best friend was also taking the exam, a really shy boy with pointed ears.

Tamaki Amajiki.

Though after hanging out Hiroki knew they had to have the talk.

"Okay… seriously… you have one of your crushes." Muttered Hiroki as they headed home.

"Hey… I know not be a creep any more… and besides it's not like I can top being that creepy since I already saw his penis." Said Hoshiko.

There was an awkward silence.

"Mabel…" he said as they were alone and old habits die hard, "Why did you see his penis?"

"I think it has to do with quirk…" said Hoshiko, "He was naked throughout the exam…"

"There better be a good reason…" said Hiroki.

Thankfully they later found out that his quirk made him intangible and if he used his quirk his clothes would fall his body.

Though thankfully, Hoshiko and Hiroki ended up getting into UA, which made everyone who knew them proud.

Though Katsuki did mutter something about wanting to be the first in their crappy school to get to UA.

Togata and Amajiki even got into UA too, though Togata was in a different class.

Though still Hoshiko introduced the two friends to Izuku and they got along greatly with their little brother.

Of course Hoshiko being the social butterfly she was quickly became popular and ended up being the first year ace, much to her teacher's annoyance…

She even won the Sports Festival.

While at the same time Hiroki was considered the best support student and was the first to get his first patent in his first year.

Which ironically was inspired by his sister… bullet proud yarn who wanted a sweater to be part of her costume (and it was a very pretty, sparkly sweater with the shooting star logo on it).

It was an odd patent but it became very popular.

And Hoshiko was even to update her sweater with the bullet proof yarn. Still she was on her way to being a hero. And Hiroki with his dream working in the support industry though Hoshiko did have an idea of having a family based Hero Agency when they got older and even planned to drag Katsuki into it even if he was kicking and screaming.

Which was very much likely.

However even so with all this the story was just getting started…

And it all really began during Izuku's final year of JR. High and Hiroki and Hoshiko's 2nd year at UA.

Next Time: Izuku meets All Might after getting attacked by a villain and asks him a question he needs to know despite everything his siblings told him and doesn't get the answer he was hoping for. But what will happen when the same villain attacks Katsuki? Find out next time!

A/N: Yep! Mabel/Hoshiko befriended Mirio (and has a huge crush on him) as well as Tamaki... which answers a question I know everyone's been wondering. Also she did befriend Nejire off screen.

As for the name thing... the narration after the 13th birthday on why I switched the names... as it's basically a turning point for them... however they will still often use their original names in private or if their just with Izuku.
