Chapter 12
Riley stretched slowly as the sun seeped through the window, she nuzzled into the pillow more not feeling ready to wake up just yet. As she lay there in a comfortable silence, she heard the door creak open and footsteps make their way over to the bed. Before she could open her eyes she felt a weight jump on her, it reminded her of when she pretended to be sick to get out of going to school and Maya sat on her.
"Mooorning!" Kira yelled as she rolled off of Riley and sprawled out next to her, smiling as Riley turned to face her. "So this explains as to why Ryder is asleep on the sofa." She giggled softly as she watched the realisation hit Riley.
"I'm in his bed.." she whispered shyly.
"Yes my dear, yes you are." Kira whispered back. "On another note, do you fancy pancakes for breakfast?" She raised her eyebrows as Riley's stomach rumbled announcing Riley's hunger. "I'll take that as a yes." With that she jumped out of the bed pulling Riley along with her and down the stairs to the kitchen.
"How much coffee have you had?" Riley asked laughing as Kira seemed to be radiating energy.
"Too much." A deep voice sounded from behind her, Riley turned to see Ryder leaning against the kitchen counter, a smile on his face as he watched them. Zayn and Vanessa were sat at the breakfast bar both sipping a cup of coffee.
"Mormon' sugar" Zayn drawled as he tipped his imaginary cowboy hat to Riley.
"Good morrow good sir." Riley replied before grabbing herself a cup and sitting down with them. "So what's on the agenda for today?"
"Well I figured after breakfast, everyone could go home, let their folks know they're alive and okay. Get showered and changed or whatever and then I thought maybe we could go for a walk and a picnic?" Ryder suggested, everyone nodded in agreement before helping themselves to the plate of pancakes Ryder had set before them.
"Morning guys, I've spoken to all your parents and they are all okay with you spending the day here again, however Riley your dad said something along the line of 'boys.. no no no.' Think you might want to pop home and reassure him before he hurts himself trying to do some big protective dad act." Ryder and Kira's mum was lent against the doorframe as she spoke, but their family had gotten used to Riley's family antics, including the protectiveness of her dad.
