Lucina swayed a bit side to side watching as the white dress followed suit. The hardened warrior suppressed a giggle and went with a happy smile instead. The dress did show off her shoulders and was a bit more form fitting that she was used to, but she loved it all the same – besides, she had become a lot more confident in her body lately. It was a commodity she had given up on for so long, and even being able to stand there with her hair made up and a nice flower in her hair seemed like something out of a dream. A happy dream, to be sure, but a dream all the same.
It felt a little silly putting it on like this, but sometimes she just got the urge to indulge her fantasy a little. That was not to say that her life was not already better than she seriously imagined it could be, but the nature of her wedding had precluded a proper ceremony unfortunately. Not that she would ever complain about it. She already had more than she felt she deserved sometimes.
However, eventually the fantasy had to end, and Lucina was preparing to change and put the dress away again when she was surprised by the door opening. She jumped a little as her husband stopped in the doorway looking in shock at his wife standing in a wedding dress he distinctly never remembered her wearing.
"Uh, Lucina?"
"R-Robin!" Lucina blushed having been caught, "I thought you were in your office."
"I forgot some documents," Robin explained as he got closer, "When did you get a wedding dress?"
"Mother bought it for me," Lucina tried her best to ignore the burning in her cheeks, "She said that even if I never had a fancy ceremony that a bride should have her dress. So, sometimes when I'm alone, I like to put it one for a little while."
"I see."
"It's silly, isn't it?"
"Not at all," Robin brushed some of the hair from Lucina's face. Truth be told, he thought he was the one that should be feeling bad. When they had gotten married, it had been a less than opportune time, but that uncertainty pushed them to throw caution to the wind and have a makeshift wedding.
Robin had intended to make it up to her, but things just kept getting in the way. He had honestly hoped to have more time after getting back to Ylisse, but then came Validar's invitation and all the turmoil that brought. Even since getting back after Grima he had been running himself ragged trying to sort out all of this mess with Plegia. Especially given his technical spot at heir to the Plegian throne.
Looking at his bride now, he felt like he had been neglecting her though. After everything she had been through, surely she, more than any woman alive, deserved to have her big and fancy wedding. She was not usually one for such affairs – something she would mention if he ever brought it up; truthfully, she was fascinated by them but felt extremely out of place fearing that she would embarrass herself and those around her – but looking at her in that moment, it was hard to deny that she wanted something a bit more elegant than getting married over a barrel.
"May I have this dance?" Robin held his hand out, his prior task seemingly forgotten for the moment.
"W-what?" Lucina stared at the offered hand.
"A bride deserves a dance, wouldn't you say?" Robin gave her his best attempt at a charming smile which worked just fine on her.
"I don't really know how to dance," Lucina told him as she took his hand.
Robin chuckled lightly, "Then it's a good thing we're alone in our rooms I guess because I don't either."
That did get a slight giggle from the princess as Robin whisked her away so that they would have more room to move about. With his hands on her hips, Robin did his best to at least give her a good time as they gently swayed back and forth.
"If only I'd thought to bring an orchestra," Robin joked, but to his surprise, Lucina started humming a lovely melody in time to their movements. He loved his wife. After a few minutes of swaying, Lucina rested her head against his chest as they slowly continued moving back and forth. In time, Robin placed his chin on the top of her head as well.
Eventually, they simply stopped altogether simply enjoying the feeling of each other's embrace. Robin had been so busy lately that he had almost forgotten how nice it was to simply hold her. Not that they had ever been the most public with their affections, though after she thought she might have lost him, Lucina had become a good deal more open with her feelings for him. It also helped that such a massive burden had been lifted from her.
Case in point, how Lucina rather adorably nestled her head further into Robin's chest making his smile deepen even more. Lucina was just glad to be able to touch him. When…when she thought he may have been gone…she was filled with such deep regret that she did not demonstrate her affection for him more often.
"You're warm," Lucina noted cozily; it was a far cry from the chilled air of her world she had become so used to, "I feel like I could stay here all day."
She was then greeted by the soft rumbling of Robin chuckling. Being so humor challenged, Lucina did enjoy being able to humor Robin.
"That'd be more enjoyable than paperwork, that's for sure."
"Oh!" Lucina suddenly pulled her head back almost harshly bumping Robin's chin in the process, "I've kept you from work!"
"It's fine," Robin pulled her back into the embrace, "Really. I feel like I've been working too much lately anyways. I haven't spent nearly enough time with you."
"I don't mean to distract you from your work. It's important." The last thing Lucina wanted to be was a hinderance. She tried to help out training soldiers and the like, but she was still unaccustomed to doing so little compared to what she had done in the past.
"It is," Robin leaned back and caressed her cheek, "But not as important as you. Never think for one moment that my job is ever more important than you. Other people can do my job can after all, and I could definitely afford a break. How about it? I'll arrange some time off and we can finally have a proper honeymoon?"
"A-are you sure?"
"If you want to. I've more than pulled my weight. I'm sure I could sneak away for a bit."
"Well, if it's not too much trouble," Lucina broke out into a smile, "Then, yes, I'd like that quite a bit."
"Wonderful!" Robin smiled and pulled her into a deep kiss, "I'll draw up the plans. Hopefully by this time next week we'll be on our way to…somewhere. Be thinking of where you want to go."
"I will try," Lucina could not help but smile as Robin rather energetically left the room only to remember he had never grabbed what he came back for in the first place.
After changing back into civilian clothes – she had had had enough of armor for one lifetime preferring civilian attire unless training – Lucina started to think of the possibilities. A real honeymoon. She really did not know where to go. Perhaps her mother would have some suggestions.
In the meantime, Lucina made her way to the library to research potential destinations. On the way, she had a particular spring in her step which earned her a few odd looks. Not that Lucina minded. She was happy as could be.
A/N: Yes, not the Chrom and Morgan one, but I got the idea for this. Maybe you enjoyed it. Also, the Robin story is going up. Probably the weakest of the three, but you might at least want to check out the last chapter when it goes up.
