SmackDown Filming: December 4, 2012
Randy sat with me in my office backstage. "So you've got an agreement with Stephanie now over how long you'll be working in your backstage position while pregnant?"
I nod as I was looking through paperwork at my desk. "I sure do, and it's something that I'm perfectly fine with agreeing to."
"What is it?"
"I'll work until the end of WrestleMania week, which should be the beginning of my third trimester. Then, I'll go on maternity leave."
"That sounds like a great plan. Also, it's very convenient to be done after WrestleMania week."
I nod. "I think so too. Anyway, how are you going into this match you have against Wade Barrett tonight?"
Randy smirked. "As confident as I can be, I know how to beat him."
"Good. Your confidence about this means he has less of a chance to pull one over on you."
"He won't pull one over on me. I'm gonna just go out there, kick his ass, win the match, and go home with you."
"And that is a great plan."
"I love you so much. I'm excited about the baby obviously, but I miss having you manage me because it's one of my favorite things about this job."
"Well don't you worry because when I'm back from maternity leave, I'll probably be just doing that."
"Either that or be a general manager."
"As fun as that sounds, I'll likely just stick to managing you."
"I'm more than okay with that."
"Good. You should be."
Randy smiled. "That will be amazing."
"I already miss managing you too."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I have a lot of fun when I manage you. I hope you know that you're the best."
Randy kisses my forehead. "That's what I hear. I should probably head to the locker-room to go get my ring gear on."
"That probably wouldn't be a bad idea."
"How much paperwork do you have left to do?"
"I am pretty much done for now."
"Are you coming with me?"
"I guess if you want me to."
Randy laughs. "We both know that I do."
I stood in guerilla to watch as Randy was wrestling Wade in the ring. Randy had been looking really good in this match, so hopefully he could win. I glanced down at my stomach as I stood in the corner. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Vince walk into guerilla.
Vince walks over to me. "Hey, kid, how's Randy doing in this match?"
I smile. "Quite well. I think he'll win."
"Even without you managing him in this match?"
"Yeah, Randy doesn't need me to help him win his matches. We both just find it to be fun."
"I understand. Randy is quite talented in the ring. That's coming from a man who runs the biggest professional wrestling company."
"I couldn't agree more. He doesn't even realize how talented he is."
"He's incredible in the ring. I wanted to ask you about something."
I nod, likely knowing exactly where this was going. "Okay, I'm all ears."
"Are you doing alright? Stephanie told me that you were taking time off TV for now."
"I'm fine. I just have some personal stuff going on right now, and staying off TV is best for me at the moment. No, it's not anything to do with my marriage to Randy. He and I have no issues, and everything between the two of us is great."
Vince nods. "That's good. I know that you and I don't have a normal relationship for a father and daughter, but I just want to let you know that I'm here for you if you need anything. Just let me know."
"I will. Thank you. I really appreciate it."
"Absolutely." Vince says as Randy wins the match. "I'll let you go now, so you can catch Randy when he arrives backstage. Tell him that I say hi."
"I will. Don't worry."
"Thank you, Marissa."
I watch Vince walk away as I think about how he'll react to the news of my pregnancy.
Randy and I sat together on our bed on the tour bus as he played video games while I was looking at stuff on my cell phone. I put my phone down as I watch Randy play his game for a few minutes.
"So did Wade hurt your shoulder or was it something you did?" I ask, breaking the silence between the two of us.
Randy paused his game before turning to look at me. "Somehow I knew you would pick up on that and would end up asking me about it."
"You'd make my life much easier if you'd just told me. What's going on with it?"
"I hurt it a little. I don't think Wade had anything to do with it. I'm pretty sure it's a minor injury."
"You should've gone to the trainer."
"I'll be fine. I didn't need to."
"Whatever, Randy."
"What did the old man want to talk to you about?"
"What do you think? Stephanie told him about me taking time off from being on TV. He was concerned about me."
"What did you say?"
"That I have personal stuff going on, which had nothing to do with our marriage, and it was best that I wasn't on TV right now."
"You need to tell him about the pregnancy soon."
"When we decide to go full on public about it in a few weeks, he'll be one of, if not the first, people to be directly told."
"Good. I know you don't have a normal relationship with Vince, but he's still your dad. You need to tell him before a ton of people know."
"I know that. He can know in a few weeks."
"Okay, speaking of baby stuff, are we doing one of those gender reveal parties?"
"No, that's not something I'm really into, unless you really want to do one."
"I don't want to do one if you don't. We can just tell people the gender whenever we want to."
"Glad to know that we're on the same page. We can have a baby shower though."
"Good. I want to do one of those, and I don't think the girls are going to let you get out of that."
I laugh. "Me either. I want to go to bed soon."
"Okay, let me finish a couple things on my video game, and I'll join you."
I kiss Randy's cheek. "Okay."
