Lucina adjusted the bundle in her arms before knocking. She was incredibly uncomfortable about this, but everyone insisted that it was for the best no matter how nervous she was about it. She waited with bated breath for the door to open.

"Oh, Lucina!" Sumia smiled seeing her daughter was a little early. Behind her legs, Lucina could see little Lucy poking her head out, smiling as she waved at her, "Ready for your big date?"

"I'm not sure," Lucina replied as she bounced the bundle in her arms to keep her content.

"Hey," Sumia held her daughter's shoulder, "It'll be alright. I've done this before."

"I know that," Lucina sighed, "I'm just…nervous about being apart. This will be the longest we've been separated since she was born."

"And that's exactly why you need this. Come on," Sumia extended her hands, "Let grandma spoil her grandbaby for a few hours while you and Robin have a fun night out."

Lucina eyed her daughter for almost a full minute before finally relenting and passing the sleeping infant off to her grandmother. Sumia expertly accepted the transfer without so much as stirring the sleeping child. Of course she did. Her mother just seemed to excel at this so much more naturally than she did.

"You'll be fine," Sumia reassured, "She will have a nice night here, and you will have some much needed time to relax and unwind."

"If I can survive those heels," Lucina grimaced trying to get her mind off her worries, "I don't know how you do it."

"Honestly? Neither do I. You think I would have broken my neck in them by now, but for some reason they don't give me any issues."

"If only I were so lucky," Lucina swallowed again before continuing, "May I…say goodbye?"

"Of course," Sumia held her granddaughter out so that Lucina could give her a light peck on the forehead.

"I'll be back soon."

Robin had picked out a fine restaurant in Ylisstol. Not the fanciest, but it was up there. He did not want to put too much on Lucina for their first night out since the birth of their first born. Still, a nice, fancy dinner out on the town where she got to dress up was something Lucina enjoyed.

At least she did when she was not suffering from severe separation anxiety. Not that he could really blame her. She had been orphaned herself, and she was terrified of subjecting her daughter to a similar fate, but it ran even deeper than that.

Babies in her world did not have a good survival rate. Most were stillborn, and those lucky enough to be born usually died within a month. She had revealed this shortly after she told him she was pregnant along with a story about a child whose mother died in childbirth. The baby was too sickly to make it, but she held her for hours until she breathed her last. Needless to say, he could not fault her for any of it.

That did not mean that he did not want to help her through it. He cared about their daughter too, but Lucina was teetering on the edge of being unhealthily frantic at times. Add on a deep seeded fear of being an unfit mother, and, well, Lucina had been something of a wreck lately.

"Hey," Robin brought her out of her likely worst case scenario thinking, "She'll be alright. Sumia is the closest thing to an expert we have on child rearing among our ranks. The castle is safe, guards are posted on patrol routes I personally designed, and we have some of the best doctors and healers on the continent. Nothing is going to go wrong."

Yes, Robin knew he had to mention security as if he did not, she was likely to mention the idea of an assisnation or kidnapping plot.

"You're right," The bluenette sighed, "You're right. I'm being silly. Oh, why am I such a mess? This is supposed to be our night."

"Hey, it's only natural to worry. She's our baby after all. If anything, it's touching how much you care."

"I can hardly leave the room though without my nerves getting the best of me. I don't think this is normal."

"No, but most mothers aren't hardened survivors. The combination of those natures may be contributing."

"I'm sorry," Lucina looked down in shame, "I know it must not be easy looking after your crazy wife."

"I'm used to crazy," Robin joked, "Trust me, I can handle this." Dropping to a more serious tone, he reached for his wife's hand, "But seriously, there's nothing wrong with being concerned about your baby girl. I know I am. You wouldn't believe how much I worry. Just the other day I spent far too long debating what items on my desk could be considered choking hazards."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"So how do you deal with it?"

"I'm a tactician. I'm used to playing the odds. A lot of things could happen, but most rarely do. I also know that I have an amazing wife that can take care of her when I'm not there, and that there are people I can trust to look after her for a bit."

"You're right, again. I just…can't seem to help it."

"I know. It won't go away overnight, but maybe after seeing she's just fine after dinner, it'll help."

Lucina smiled tiredly, but genuinely, "Yes, perhaps it will. I have missed our quiet time together."

Robin considered asking if maybe they could have Sumia keep her granddaughter overnight, but Robin did not think he was ready for child number two just yet. Not that Lucina was ready to go a whole night apart from her daughter, but she was smiling. That was a start.

Lucina's nerves were admittedly doing a bit better as she approached her mother's royal chambers for the night. She was still a bit nervous, but she was forcing herself not to dash to the door, instead casually approaching it with heels in her hands as she was done with those for the night. She loved dressing up. She hated the shoes.

"Good evening," Sumia whispered as she opened the door with her granddaughter in tow, "How was your evening?"

"Good," Lucina answered truthfully, "I hope she wasn't too much of a handful."

"No, she was great. She missed you, but Lucy helped take care of her and Cindy. Though, she was tuckered out from all the attention."

"I'm glad she wasn't any trouble," Lucina smiled as she took her baby. She did feel much better with her in her arms, but Robin was right. Their baby was fine. The world would not end if they were apart. She could do this.

A/N: That's a better length. Anyways, not sure what's next for this account or when I'll post here next.
