I climbed back into bed after waking up in the middle of the night, needing to use the restroom. Randy hadn't moved an inch. I smiled to myself as my mind went back to the dream I had just had. It was about the baby. In the dream, I was at the OBGYN, and she was telling me that we were having a boy. After that dream, I felt like it was true, and our baby was having a boy. I also knew in my heart that even though Randy was happy with the baby no matter what, that he was also hoping that the baby would be a boy. Randy wrapped his arms around me, something that he tended to do while he slept in the same bed as me.
"You doing okay?" Randy mumbled.
"I thought you were sleeping." I whispered.
"I woke up when you moved my arms and got out of bed."
"Sorry, I needed to use the bathroom."
"That's okay. There's no need to apologize."
"Are you fully awake right now?"
Randy caressed my face. "One hundred percent, what's going on?"
"Can I talk about the dream I just had?"
"Yeah, what'd you dream about, Rissa?"
"I was at the OBGYN appointment, and the doctor was telling me that we were having a boy."
"Do you think that our baby is a boy?"
"I was really unsure until that dream."
"So now you think we're having a boy?"
"I mean yeah, I do now. The dream just came to me and said that the baby was going to be a boy."
"I keep thinking that the baby will be a boy too. I didn't have a dream about it though."
I smile. "So we both think that now?"
Randy chuckled. "Yeah, we both think the baby will be a boy at the moment."
"I wish you didn't have to go to work on Monday."
Randy sighed and grabbed my waist. "I know. I'm sorry, sweetheart."
"I can push back my OBGYN appointment. They're making me go on Christmas Eve. That way I can go to work with you."
"Don't do that. You can go without me this time. Unfortunately, we knew this was going to happen eventually with our jobs."
"But we were supposed to find out the gender."
"I want you to still do that. Just tell me as soon as I am with you again."
I smile. "You're going to be the first person I tell. It's not going to be anyone else."
"I knew you'd be sure to tell me first." Randy kisses me. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"I'm going to start setting up the baby's room soon."
I smile. "Okay. I appreciate it."
"I appreciate you, Rissa. You take great care of me. You're making a home for our baby inside your body. I know I have had some bad tendencies in the past, but you're the one who got me to get things together."
"Someone is awfully sentimental at one thirty in the morning."
Randy gave a soft laugh. "I'll talk to you in the morning when we wake up."
"Okay, handsome."
Randy and I woke up next to each other and smiled. I didn't try to move when we woke up. Randy rolled over and ran his fingers through my hair.
"Good morning, handsome." I whisper.
"Good morning, beautiful." Randy smiles at me.
I put a hand on his arm. "I love you."
"I love you too, babe. And I love our little one as well." Randy places a hand on my stomach.
I lay my head on his shoulder. "People should be starting to get our Christmas card."
"I know. I'm sure both of our phones will start blowing up in the next couple of days."
"No kidding."
Randy placed his arm around me. "One of us is going to need to get up soon."
"I know."
"Our friends will be here today."
"Yeah, thankfully, they'll get here before you have to leave."
"I'm sorry, Rissa. I know you don't want me to go, but I can't get it off without revealing your pregnancy."
"I know. Sorry about being so clingy. I understand us having to be separated."
"It's okay. I understand why you feel that you want to be with me as much as you can, and the pregnancy hormones makes you want me to be with you even more than normal. It's funny because I think you get fed up with me some normally."
"I still like having you around, Randy."
"I love you, sweetheart. I'm sorry I have to leave without you. If you need to call me, don't hesitate to call to talk to me."
I nod. "It's okay."
We look at each other as the doorbell rings.
Randy got up and looked at me. "I'll get it."
I nod. "Okay, I'll be downstairs soon to eat anyway."
Randy exited the bedroom and walked downstairs. I got out of bed myself and started making the bed. Once I finish that, I look at myself in the mirror. I was starting to show just a little bit. I hadn't bought any maternity clothes yet, so I was still wearing normal clothes, which couldn't really hide my bump. Since we weren't public about the pregnancy quite yet, I felt weird being in public with my small baby bump.
I walked downstairs to see Randy talking with my cousin Kenny. Randy pulls me into his arms as Kenny smiles at me.
"There you are." Kenny says. "I got the Christmas card. Congratulations on the baby."
I nod. "Thank you. I'm expecting to start hearing that a lot more here soon."
Kenny laughs. "I'm sure you will. How'd Tyler take the news?"
"He doesn't know."
"Are you two not talking still?"
I shrug. "Nope. He's been a jackass."
"Because that Lauren is getting in his head. She doesn't try to socialize with any of us and blames us for it."
"I thought you liked her."
"I did at first, but she doesn't put any effort into talking to us and expects us to put in a lot of effort. We all have stuff going on ourselves. Sorry if we don't want to focus on just getting to know her."
"Glad to see you feel like I do. Anyway, there's a baby, and we're excited."
"Good. I actually got you something." Kenny hands me a large bag. "It's a diaper bag. Merry Christmas."
I look at it. "Thank you. We haven't bought anything for the baby yet, so this is great."
"Absolutely."
I sat on a chair close to the door. Our friends were here, but everyone who was going to be heading to Raw was about to leave. Only Chelle, her baby, Ryse, and I would be left at the house. I watched John kiss Chelle before heading to the car. Ryse helps Ted put his things in the other car before talking to him by the car outside. Eve and Cody head towards the front door to exit the house.
"Bye, Rissa." Cody says.
"Call if you need anything." Eve adds.
"Thanks. I will. Bye, guys."
"Bye."
Eve and Cody exit the house. I sigh as I hear Randy start to head downstairs. Randy walks over and places his bags next to the door before looking at me.
"I'll be back as soon as I can." Randy whispers before pulling me close and running his fingers through my hair.
I lean on him. "I know, but I don't like being separated from you."
"I know, sweetheart. I love you so much. You'll be okay."
"Randy, I'm going to miss you so much."
"I'll call you. Let me know about the baby as soon as I get home."
"I will."
Randy placed a hand on my bump before kissing me. "I love both of you so much. I'll call you. I promise. Bye."
"Bye."
I watch Randy exit the house and get in the car with Ted to leave. Chelle and Ryse looked at me.
I looked at my two friends. "I'll make dinner in a little bit."
"Okay, are you alright?" Chelle asks.
"I'm fine." I look at my phone as it starts to ring to see it's my dad. "I'm going to take this upstairs. It's Vince."
"Good luck." Ryse comments.
I head upstairs and take the phone call.
Me: "Hello?"
Vince: "Hey…you're pregnant?"
Me: "Yes…I am pregnant."
Vince: "Okay…is everything going well?"
Me: "Yeah, we just aren't going fully public about it yet."
Vince: "I see. I would've appreciated knowing sooner, but I understand. Congratulations. I'm excited for you. If you need anything, let me or Linda know."
Me: "I will. Thanks, Dad."
