Morgan blew air past her lips as she stared at the blue bangs she pulled between her eyes. She found herself oddly fascinated by it for some reason. Maybe it was the color. The royal blue instantly brought to mind the image of her mother. That brought along its own series of thoughts she proceeded to follow down the rabbit hole as it were until she was completely lost in thought.

It was in this state that Morgan noticed something glinting on her mother's night stand. Her mother was currently taking a bath and her father had to go in to work early. This left her alone in her parents' bedroom as she made her way over to the furniture in question.

Checking to make sure that the coast was clear, Morgan reached down and grabbed the hair ornament. Her mother was rarely seen without it. It was apparently a gift from her mother and the only times she seemed to ever take it off was when she was bathing and sometimes when she went to bed.

Taking advantage of this relatively rare opportunity, Morgan carefully placed the band atop her own head. She felt like she was handling an ancient treasure as she carefully took a look in the mirror. She liked how it looked.

"Having fun?"

"Eep!" Morgan jumped and quickly turned around to face her bemused mother, "Er, I was just, um…"

"Relax," Lucina smiled as she walked over to her daughter and straightened the tiara, "It looks good on you."

"You're not mad?"

"No, of course not. I jdidn't think you were interested in it though."

"Of course I've been curious, but you almost always have it on. I was just curious if maybe…I'd look more like you."

"What brought this on?" Lucina sat on the corner of her bed waiting for her daughter to elaborate. Morgan never seemed to particularly take after her. Not to say she was not flattered, but she was certainly surprised.

"Well, I was looking at my hair and realized that it seemed to be the only thing I took after you. I thought maybe I would resemble you a bit more if I tried it on. Plus, it's always been this sort of treasure. Guess I was curious."

"I'm flattered," Lucina smiled patting down Morgan's hair and properly securing the ornament behind her ears, "Well, I think it looks great on you."

"You really think so?" Morgan asked with bubblying hope.

"Yes, I think you look quite lovely. If you don't believe me, take a look for yourself." Lucina positioned her daughter back looking into the mirror. Morgan had to admit that she did like what she saw. Maybe she was imagining things, but she finally thought she looked somewhat regal.

"I guess I do look kinda good," Morgan commented as her hands went up to tentatively touch the gold piece.

"It's yours if you want it."

"What?" Morgan spun on her heels to face her mother, "B-but it's so important to you. Your mother gave it to you."

"It is important to me. Which is all the more reason to gift it to you. My mother gave it to me, so it seems only fitting that I give it to you."

"I, but…" Morgan fumbled with her fingers, "Wouldn't it be more suitable for your real daughter?"

"Morgan," Lucina put her hands on her daughter's shoulders, suddenly making the younger woman feel much smaller, "You are every bit my daughter as the girl in the room next door. I wish you didn't, but you fought as well. You are the better owner. Of course, if you don't want it, I won't make you take it."

"No, I…I'll take it. If you're sure."

A giggle greeted Morgan's uncertainty, "I am. It's yours. I trust that it is in good hands."

"I won't let you down, Mother!" Morgan offered a comical salute, but it was also somehow heartfelt all the same.

"I know you won't, Dear."

"Lucina?" Robin asked when he got home later that evening, "I could have sworn I saw Morgan running around with your head piece earlier today."

"Oh, yes, I caught her trying it on when I got out of the bath," Lucina giggled, "It was somewhat cute."

"Are you sure about giving it away? I know how much it meant to you."

"I am. I thought it would be a nice tradition to pass it on. I don't need it anymore after all. I found my own family here with you," Lucina slung her arms around Robin's neck.

"Well, I'm glad then," Robin put his hands on her hips just in time for the sound of crying to interrupt them, "Speaking of family."

"Must be hungry. Dinner is almost ready, just please make sure it doesn't burn while I'm away."

"I think I can handle that much."

Robin watched his wife head toward their daughter's room. She was not the only one that had found a family. The Shepherds had taken him in, but Lucina was his everything. As unusual as their tale may have been. He was happy they had found each other.
