Chapter 30: My First Mixer

This is Day Two of the 5-day upload schedule. Hope you enjoy the story!
"Hey, you guys!" David shouted as he ran towards the group of Lucas, Klaus, and Yuno.
It was yet another sunny day in the Clover Kingdom. The weather had been great for a few days now and for what was about to transpire for the rest of the day, it reflected David's happy feeling as well.
The trio stopped walking away from the building that they just had breakfast in to turn to the Dice mage. Since this was another day off, there was no morning briefing from Langris or William. The latter being because he was still away from the Golden Dawn HQ.
"Oh, hello there David. Nice to see you're in good spirits". Klaus was the first to reply to the blonde mage.
David reached the group and exchanged greetings between the three.
"Oh? Is Mimosa not with you guys today?" David wondered.
"She said she had something to do with today with Letoile. She'll probably catch up with us when she's done". Yuno replied.
"Ah okay", David replied. "It's probably better that she isn't here for what I want to ask Lucas. It's clear as day how she feels about the rookie", he thought to himself.
"Never mind that. Lucas! Do you want to help me with a top secret mission?" The Dice mage smiled before grabbing the Light mage's arm and dragging him away.
"Ah! Wh-what is going on? You didn't even let me reply!" Lucas squirmed but it was ultimately no use as David had him firmly in his grips.
"I know you won't be able to say no to this!" David said as the two disappeared around the corner.
Klaus and Yuno were left on their own as they saw their squad mate kidnapped right in front of their eyes. The two had a poker face on as they didn't quite understand what happened.
"Should we be worried?" Yuno asked his senior.
Klaus thought for a moment but realised what was transpiring. "A day off, a happy David, an unsuspecting victim… Yep. Lucas is in for a ride at a mixer", he crossed his arms and shook his head.
"A mixer? Oh, a thing where boys meet girls?" Yuno asked.
"Y-yes. I was unfortunate enough to be dragged into one by David last year. Let's just say it ended with me on the floor after two drinks", Klaus replied half-heartedly.
Yuno stood there in silence shaking his head.
Just outside David's room, there was a wooden railing and a common area where a few of the Magic Knights would rest and hang out around. The Dice mage dragged the Light mage here and sat him down on a chair next to the railing.
"You realise why you're here, right?" David asked, putting his hand to his chin to make it seem like he was being sophisticated.
"No! I do not! I was going to train, but then you kidnapped me!" Lucas replied, feeling defeated and slumping back in his chair.
David was taken back. "Oh? You're shouting at poor old me? The guy who had your back when Klaus was moaning about you when you joined? Your big brother? I see… I see". He pretended to stumble and wiped his eyes as if he had been crying.
Lucas, not knowing this was an act, started to apologise. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to raise my voice like that. I was just a bit surprised really".
David grinned knowing he had him. "Th-that's fine", he calmed his theatrics down a bit. "So, seriously. I need your help with a mission".
"That was a quick attitude change", Lucas thought. "Fine. Are we exploring a dungeon or something?" He asked.
"We will be exploring, just not the way you think", he smiled. "Basically, my mission is to get a girlfriend tonight and you're going to help me with that". David put his hand to the teen's shoulder.
Lucas stopped for a moment to think. "A girl-girlfriend? Really? That's the mission?!"
"Well, yeah. It's been almost two weeks since my last girlfriend and I'm sad!" David grovelled.
"I… I'm gonna go train instead. I hope you find your girlfriend", Lucas quickly stood from the chair and rushed away. However, David was one step ahead as he reeled him back in.
David sighed and stood tall. "Okay, I'll be honest with you. Yes, I want to go to this mixer for my own benefit, but I also thought about how you should have, at least, a day or two of fun. Every day, since you've started, you've been on missions, you've trained, and you've done your daily tasks. You gotta let some of that built up stress out and I thought being out there and meeting new people would be the way to do it".
The ginger-haired mage thought for a few moments before admitting. "It is true that I've only had a handful of rest days, but is me being your wingman something that I can even do?" He asked.
"You won't really have to do anything much. Just sit with me and follow my lead. I have someone else from the squad that wants to come as well so it won't even be awkward! Please, do this for me and I'll owe you big time!" David joined his hands together and begged.
"Fine, fine! Please don't beg like that… it's weird", Lucas sighed. "Do I have to wear anything different?"
"Brilliant! Also, no. Just keep your clothes on as normal. It's good to show that we're from the best squad in the kingdom", the Dice mage grinned.
"I guess seeing we're part of the Golden Dawn will make the girls feel they're safe…", he replied. "Though I'm not even suited for all of this. What if a girl gets interested in me? What will I say?"
David saw Lucas pondering and realised what the worry was. "Lucas. These mixers aren't only designed for getting into potential relationships. There will be food, drinks, and you can even make new friends that you wouldn't have before!"
The idea of making new friends sold the idea for Lucas. He always wanted to make friends and slowly he was getting there with his own squad, so he decided that trying the mixer was a good idea in the end and agreed to it.
"Oh, and we won't be going anywhere too fancy. The place I'm thinking of has some of the best and friendliest commoners around! I'm not one to judge status and whatnot. House Swallow are quite open and accepting of commoners since many of my family members deal with them as part of our businesses. So, if you're cool, then you're cool! Besides, nobles can be a bit… well, you know." David smiled.
"I didn't expect David to be like this. I knew he was accepting but seeing him in this kind of light is refreshing", Lucas smiled.
"Great! We'll leave when the sun starts to set. I'll pick you up along with the other member and we'll have a great time". David rushed into his room and the sounds of different hair products could be heard being thrown around.
Lucas also retreated back to his room, and after a few hours of lounging around, he heard the knock at his door and left for the night along with David and the other member.
On the other side of the Golden Dawn HQ, the light was on in one of the rooms for the senior knights. Upon a closer look, the curtains were drawn but the racket inside the room was enough to disturb the entire base.
The sun had already started to set and many of the other members were in their room doing whatever. However, this particular room didn't look like anything normal was happening in it.
"Letoile, we finally… after all these hours… rearranged your room". Mimosa huffed and leaned against the wall as she was tired.
The Compass mage did the same and stood next to the royal. "Th-thank you for helping me out with this. I felt like I needed a change, and I wanted your help with it", she sighed.
Earlier this morning, during breakfast, Letoile had approached the Plant mage and asked for help regarding a room makeover. The HQ had people that would renovate the rooms for them anyway, but Letoile wanted her own touch to be added and so wanted to it herself.
"I understand room makeovers… but did you really have to get rid of your entire bed and replace it with the exact same one but with a different animal pattern on it?!" Mimosa raged comedically.
"But then it's not the same bed, is it?" The green-haired mage replied.
Mimosa face palmed.
"Regardless, it was nice to spend time with you, Letoile. We haven't done that before. Did anything change recently?" Mimosa asked.
"Changed? No, not really. I did realise some things though after that one dungeon mission with Lucas", she replied. "Before that mission, I was set on my ways of being serious without any time for fun, but the kid's personality is contagious. I guess I wanted some sort of 'new' start, I guess you could say? Though it's small, starting the change where I live wouldn't be too outlandish", Letoile pointed out.
"… It also got me thinking of my own brother, Lewis, and my family. I should visit my parents soon. I haven't seen them at all since Lewis's funeral…", she thought as she sat down.
"Lucas does have the effect on people, I can't lie", the Vermillion blushed.
Letoile turned to Mimosa and saw that she had also sat down and was fidgeting as the mere mention of the Light mage's name. "So… Mimosa. When are you going to make the next step?"
"Hm?" She replied, not knowing what the girl in glasses was insinuating.
"C'mon! We all know how much you like him", Letoile teased.
Mimosa's reaction wasn't to calmly deny the claim made but instead she started slewing her words and her cheeks became red. They almost looked like they were going to burn off.
"N-n-no I do not! Wait… what do you mean you 'all' know?!" She asked rather seriously.
Letoile's face was of a genuine surprise. "You don't really make it hard to hide… and by all, I mean David, Hamon, Shiren, me, and even Yuno".
Mimosa fell to the floor and her face met the ground as she reacted.
"You're not going to be honest with me?" Letoile asked, her eyes got bigger and resembled a puppy's with how she was brooding.
Mimosa got up from the floor and sighed before leaning her back against Letoile's bed. "I don't really know what's up. I mean... since you already figured it out, I'll be honest with you. I think I like Lucas... like, more than just friends".
Letoile nodded. "Yeah, you got that right. It's clear as day to see how you are around him". She didn't say this though as she was wary she may provoke another crazy reaction from the Plant mage.
"It's just... I don't really know how he feels or if I'm good enough. He's powerful and reliable, but I'm just a healer and don't have that kind of presence that he does. There's also another girl... but I don't even know if she feels the same way I do about Lucas.", the Vermillion messed around with a few strands of her hair.
Letoile scooched up next to Mimosa and patted her head. "You're not just a healer, are you? You're his friend, his squad mate, and a wonderful girl. Aren't you also trying to learn new spells? If you try your best then who knows what could happen. Besides, you talk as if Lucas is this hard-to-approach, intimidating person. If you ask me, you two are more similar than you think. As for the other girl, well I wouldn't know but you can't let things like this get in your way".
Mimosa slightly blushed. "I guess you're right, Letoile. It's always great to speak with you".
There was some silence before the Compass Magic user carried on. "Speaking of Lucas, have you heard he's gone to a mixer? Crazy." Letoile completely changed the subject and the mood.
"A mixer?!" The Plant mage exclaimed.
"Well, I think he was basically dragged there by David but yeah". Letoile stood up and got rid of the creases in her uniform, not realising the utter mess of emotions she was about to put Mimosa in.
She turned around to look at Mimosa but instead of seeing her she saw the door fling open, and a rush of sound went outside the room. Letoile looked outside and saw the same royal, running towards her room.
"A mixer?! Wh-why am I jealous? Ah! It's because I like him… okay! I admit it, but a mixer isn't only for relationships, right?! Is Daisy there? Ah, why am I thinking about her?! Wh-where is the mixer? There's plenty of taverns and cafes! Ah, no one knows!" Mimosa internally screamed.
Letoile put her hand to her face and sighed again. "Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it? It's been so long since I've had a normal chat with her so maybe I'm out of practice?"
"Where are we?" Lucas asked as the three Golden Dawns landed at their destination.
"This is a smaller town next to Nean. The place we're visiting is The Dreavy Hinker which is a small but cosy tavern that's actually quite popular", David replied.
"Dreavy Hinker? That kinda sounds like…", Lucas began before being interrupted.
"Heavy Drinker, ohoho!" The other Magic Knight replied.
"Leave it to Hamon for the explanation, haha", David replied.
"It actually did use to be called the 'The Heavy Drinker' a few years ago but because of regulation and whatnot it was changed to what we have now. I like the new play on words, the large glutton smiled.
Hamon was the other squad member that would join the duo for the night out. The three went up the stairs and opened the door to the establishment. Though, just before going in, David reminded Lucas of something.
"Lucas, remember to not mention any other girls' names in front of the one you'll be speaking to tonight. It would seem like you're not focusing on them", the Dice mage added.
"David, geez! You've said this about five times in the last hour. I'll remember", Lucas replied.
The tavern was quite busy this evening with other Magic Knight squads involved with the mixer as Lucas saw robes with the Green Praying Mantis logo, as well as the Black Bulls logo.
"Oh, it's Asta!" Lucas pointed out.
"Go ahead and say hi. I'll get the table and I'll get you once the girls arrive", David said. He and Hamon sat at their own table while Lucas walked over to the Black Bulls to say hi.
"Lucas! Never thought we'd see you here". Asta waved and smiled.
"We have a few days off so some of my squad thought this mixer would be cool to do", Lucas replied waving back.
"It's the same with us actually. Finral wanted me and Luck to join him, so I guess he wanted some friendly company to lean on", Asta replied.
The Anti-Magic mage started to introduce his other squad mates who were with him.
"This is Finral who I just spoke about. He's a top notch Spatial mage and a great guy", Asta turned. "You've already met Luck before but that's all of us from the Black Bulls".
"Hi there, Lucas", they replied, and Lucas greeted them too.
Lucas looked at Finral and realised how similar he looked to his Vice-Captain.
"You kinda look like Vice-Captain, Langris. Are you brothers?" Lucas asked.
"Oh right, yeah you would know him. He's my talented little brother", the Spatial mage replied but it looked like he had a hint of sadness in his eyes as he did.
However, that point wasn't elaborated any further as David called Lucas over to begin the mixer. The Light mage followed suit and sat in the middle of David, who was on the left, and Hamon, who was on the right.
"Hello there, ladies", David said to the three girls who walked over and sat at the same table. "It's a great night tonight so why don't we carry on enjoying it by introducing ourselves? The ladies can start", David proposed.
"Sure!" The girl who was opposite David started first. "My name's Tina. I run a little flower shop in Nean that caters towards people in relationships, so we get a few love birds here and there". Tina was slightly short-statured but her long, black hair was the main attraction about her. She wore a pink dress that had white, frilly edges at each opening with her also wearing a pair of brown, fluffy boots.
"I'll go next". The girl who sat opposite to Hamon was the one to speak after Tina. "My name is Natalie and I run a family bakery in Nean as well. My shop is actually next to Tina's, so a lot of our customers are the same people. We have so many different kinds of bread, pastries, and cake too!" Natalie was a larger girl, and ironically enough, she was about the same size as Hamon. She had medium-length blonde hair that went into three different ponytails with small, red ribbons on each tail. Natalie wore a long, green dress with an open, white waistcoat over it. She wore some small jewellery on her fingers and ears and also had a bronze anklet over her black boots.
The final girl was opposite Lucas, in the middle, and it turned out to be a Magic Knight. "Hi there, my name is Emilia Fuchal! I'm part of the Blue Rose Knights and love to be working to help others. My friend actually pushed me to come here and told me to meet new people, so I thought why not? She was going to come too but had some family stuff to take care of. I also love my friends and family and will do anything to protect them". Emilia had long, flowing silver hair and wore a beige top with different and intricate flower patterns embroidered within, and had the squad robe covering the top of it. The Knight had a short blue skirt with dark, black leggings and light, brown boots to end her attire off.
"This is going good! I'm already interested in all of them… but Tina seems to be the best", David thought in excitement.
"This is quite cool. I wonder if David and Hamon are enjoying this?" Lucas turned to look at both and they had smitten looks on their faces as they looked at the girls opposite them. "I guess they are".
"I guess it's our turn, my lovely ladies", David started. "My name is David Swallow and as you can see, we're all part of the Golden Dawn. I like going out to have fun and socialise, but I can also appreciate enjoying a quiet picnic in remote locations", he ended.
"Remote locations, hm? He's so mysterious, not to mention gorgeous", Tina giggled and blushed.
Hamon was next. "My name is Hamon Caseus. I can't lie but I love food. I enjoy going to any type of restaurant and reviewing the food. Most of all though, even if I know I get made fun of for my size and personality, I never let it get in the way of my duty as a Magic Knight".
"He's so… honest but determined. That's… hot", Natalie thought as she blushed too.
It was finally Lucas's turn to speak, and he didn't really know what to say. There were things he could say but he didn't really know if they would be interesting or not. Regardless, he eventually started speaking.
"I-I'm Lucas and my dream is to become the Wizard King someday. I like to help out my friends and family, as well as anyone in need… and…", Lucas paused.
David whispered. "Just go for it, Lil Bro!"
"… and I like learning about f-flowers…", his voice lowered to hide his embarrassment.
There was some silence between the three girls as they took a few seconds to process what Lucas had said.
David and Hamon leaned back in their chairs and whispered to each other.
"This isn't good", Hamon said quietly.
"I was the one that told him to go for it so if they don't like him… then the mixer is over. I won't have my boy here feel bad", David whispered.
Lucas leaned forwards and had his head in his hands. He kept shaking his head as if he had said something stupid and regretted even coming here in the first place.
After a while, contrary to what the Golden Dawn mages believed would happen, all three of the girls started fawning over the Light mage. The three leaned forwards and completely ignored David and Hamon, and instead started gifting Lucas with a barrage of compliments. As the girls were speaking, it looked like their tongues turned into the shape of hearts with how much they were loving the young mage.
"I love someone who can express himself like that! You can visit my flower shop whenever and I'll even give you a discount", Tina exclaimed.
"You're honestly so cool and confident! I'll be rooting for you all the way", Natalie claimed.
"With a personality like yours, anyone who ends up with you will be a lucky girl!" Emilia pointed out.
The tavern grew silent as the three girls kept making noise reacting to Lucas. They had never seen the establishment like this before.
"It looks like Lucas is winning at life", Finral noticed. "They grow up so fast", he sniffed.
Asta looked at the Light mage and then back where he was. "Hm, I wonder why the girls didn't get excited when Luck and I spoke about ourselves?"
Finral face palmed and spoke under his breath. "Well, it's probably because you showed the girls your R-rated injury and Luck already showed his murderous intent...", he sighed.
Back over with the Golden Dawn lads, they were surprised with this turn of events.
"Looks like our little Lucas has become a player, ay", David smiled.
"Who would've thought?" Hamon added.
A lot of time had passed in The Dreavy Hinker. The group of six all had food and drinks and now they were moving on to dessert. The three girls had calmed down now and had now started enjoying conversations with the person that was opposite them. Lucas carried on speaking with Emilia.
"So, how is the Blue Rose Knights as a squad? I heard you don't take too kindly to men, but I never really understood that", Lucas asked.
"Oh, that. Well, it is kinda true. A lot of our squad members had been put down or ostracised by men in the past so we just want to prove how good we can be as a group of females", Emilia replied.
"That makes sense, I'm sorry to hear about your experience though". Lucas added before eating another bite of his cheesecake.
"It didn't happen to me, don't worry. I was always the problematic one so the men never messed with me. In fact…", Emilia leaned in to whisper. "A few of us who didn't have those issues have boyfriends that we've been keeping a secret from the Captain", she winked.
The quiet breath of the Blue Rose mage sent a tingling sensation down Lucas's spine. He moved back slightly but as he did he got a better look at Emilia and saw she was wearing purple lipstick. The mage sweat dropped but also found her easy to talk to.
"You do?" Lucas continued nonetheless. He was surprised by finding that out. "Does Daisy have a boyfriend? W-wait, why am I even thinking about that?" He shook his head.
Lucas then thought about something he didn't even ask yet. "What magic do you use, Emilia?"
"It's weird how we haven't even spoken about that! I use Psychic Magic, what about you?" The silver-haired Knight asked.
"Psychic Magic? That sounds so cool! I use Light Magic, but also have a pair of blades that I dual wield for some physical battles", Lucas explained.
"Light Magic? Wow, that's a rare attribute. I've only heard of the King and the first Wizard King having that kind of magic. Not to mention you use weapons as well? You must be someone special", she winked.
"Haha, a lot of people are surprised by that, but I think it's just how I use them that should determine if I'm seen as special". Lucas finished his drink.
Emilia noticed how easy going Lucas seemed and enjoyed that aspect about him. She knew she was teasing him with how she whispered and presented herself but ultimately it was only for a laugh. Emilia also finished her drink and asked Lucas if he could get her a refill.
"Sure, I'll refill my own fizzy apple juice. Hm?" Lucas caught a scent of Emilia's cup and realised it had some alcohol.
"Oh, I didn't even mention it but I'm 17! I'm the youngest out of these other two girls by only four or five years. I just came here to socialise anyway", she giggled. "Wait, how old are you?"
Lucas started to blush with embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry for acting so free with you! I'm only 15", he apologised.
Emilia waved her arms and wanted Lucas to stop apologising. "Don't worry about it! We're friends now and you seem so cool. Let's stick to how we've been speaking!" She smiled.
"O-Okay", Lucas replied.
The Light mage then stood up to go the counter to as for two refills, his cup with some more fizzy apple juice and Emilia's with a slightly diluted alcoholic beverage. However, the person he asked was…
"Noelle?!" Lucas spoke aloud to which a few tavern-goers responded to. They heard a loud voice, and it drew their attention.
The Black Bulls all turned towards the source of the voice and tilted their heads.
"Did I just hear someone say Noelle?" Luck asked.
"Nah, she can't be here. It's not like she followed us here", Asta dismissed the idea and carried on speaking with the girl he was opposite.
Noelle grabbed Lucas's mouth and dragged him down behind the bar desk and told him to be quiet. She had her hands wrapped around his mouth and if anyone saw them it would've looked like she was about to murder the Golden Dawn member.
"Do NOT say anything. Not to Mimosa, not to Daisy, not to Asta, not to anyone!" She whispered in a highly serious tone.
Lucas couldn't even reply before having to repeatedly tap on the Silva's arm to let her know that he was about to pass out from not being able to breathe.
"N-Noelle…", he took a few seconds to get his breath back. "What the hell what that for?!" He sat back under the bar desk and rested for a few seconds.
"S-sorry! I got a bit surprised seeing you and thought you might make a scene", she apologised.
"I definitely wouldn't have tried to strangle you!" Lucas replied back. "What are you even doing here dressed as a maid? You're a royal and already a Magic Knight".
Noelle sighed and felt like she had been caught red-handed. She had to think of an excuse quickly and the best she could come up with was…
"A-A fancy dress party! For the girls at the Black Bulls!" Noelle blurted out before realising how stupid that sounded.
"What on earth?" Lucas replied.
"The girls at the base want a fancy dress party. I was out to see what I could buy when one of the waitresses helped me try this on. I-I thought I could get the feel of the dress by working here…", she closed her eyes in humiliation, knowing Lucas had her figured out.
"Well, you should've said that before! You didn't need to almost kill me, Noelle", he smiled before standing back up again.
"…huh?" Noelle thought.
"I get why you were hiding from Asta and the others now. You wanted your fancy dress to be a surprise and Asta and the others coming here was something you never anticipated. Don't worry I got your back", Lucas explained.
"Y-yeah! Thanks for understanding", the Water Mage gulped. She had gotten away with it all.
"If you ask me, you probably got the maid look down. It looks good on you", Lucas commented.
"Th-thanks…", Noelle blushed. She was still mainly flustered with the excuse she had to use and never even expected that same excuse to work.
Lucas, before he forgot, asked Noelle if she could refill the cups he was carrying. One had more of the fizzy apple juice, and the other had some alcoholic beverage.
The Light mage returned to the table and sat opposite Emilia but noticed that David and Hamon were gone, along with Tina and Natalie.
Lucas, giving the drink to Emilia, asked about their whereabouts.
"Oh, you took so long that the four of them went out in pairs to enjoy a moonlit walk. If I recall, David actually looked nervous for once! He's been here a few times, so I've seen him try his luck with other girls, but it seems like Tina's the one for him. As for Hamon, he and Natalie really connected in their love for cuisine. I hope all of them are happy". Emilia was genuinely happy for them as she took a sip of her newly-filled drink.
After a few more minutes of chatting amongst themselves, it seemed like it was time to go. The regulars at the tavern were leaving, as well as the other Magic Knights who were involved with the mixer. David and Hamon still hadn't returned with their dates, and it didn't seem like they would anyway.
"Let's take a walk, Lucas", Emilia offered to which Lucas accepted.
The two walked outside and down the steps of the building. Lucas and Emilia kept on walking with the glowing moon trailing behind them, illuminating the dark streets of the town.
"The night is so beautiful", Emilia said after staring at the stars.
"It's been like this for a few days now. I can never get enough of scenery like this", Lucas replied, smiling.
The two stopped at a crossroads and it seemed like it was time to go.
"Say, Lucas. You seem like a great person and a Magic Knight. I'll be rooting for your success in the future", she winked.
"Thank you! It's the same for you. This was a great night, and I made a good friend", Lucas replied.
The two were about to go their own way but suddenly they heard a rustle of leaves behind a tree in the middle of where they were stood. The Knights looked over and saw a figure leap out and grab Emilia's purse which she stored her money in.
He quickly snatched it and ran further away, his silhouette growing smaller and harder to see.
Lucas was starting to run after the culprit, but Emilia stood in front of him.
"I'll handle this", she said as she turned the pages in her grimoire.
"Psychic Magic: Telekinetic Warp", she calmly said. A purple aura surrounded her arms as she pointed them towards the thief who was running away. She turned her hands so they were open-palmed and made her fingers motion as if to say, 'come here'.
As she did, the thief was enveloped in the same purple aura, and he quickly teleported back to Emilia who grabbed her purse from him.
The thief looked at the two Magic Knights and started cowering in fear. His eyes were bloodshed, and his face was battered and bruised. He was missing a finger and his clothes were completely tattered. He had started to cry.
To Lucas's surprise, Emilia knelt down and comforted the thief. It also surprised the person himself.
"Don't worry about it. You'll be fine. Here, take this". Emilia reached into her purse and grabbed almost 800 yul, which was a crazy amount of money, and handed it to the thief. "Go on", she said softly.
The thief, while crying and rubbing his eyes, thanked the Blue Rose mage and ran away.
"You must be thinking why I did that", Emilia sighed.
"That thief isn't necessarily a bad person. It's his circumstances that have made him like this. His little sister is in need for medicine and would die without it. He had no money to provide and so resorted to this…", Emilia answered.
"How did you know?" Lucas asked.
"My magic… I can read people's minds. My Psychic Magic lets me peer into people's thoughts, but I hardly ever do it. I hate being invasive but sometimes I have no choice. That's how I understood his pain and gave him that much money". The Blue Rose Knight was a caring person and doing this gave Lucas a new-found respect for her.
"… Wow. That's something. Before now, I always thought that bad people were just bad. I didn't really think about their circumstances", Lucas responded.
Emilia turned to Lucas and the mood around had seemed to turn sour. The Magic Knight quickly changed that feeling.
"Don't worry though. I didn't use my mind reading on you, cheeky!" She laughed.
"I… I wasn't worrying about that!" Lucas laughed as well.
"You are now", Emilia replied, giggling.
"You're reading my mind, aren't you?!" Lucas shouted, nudging her arm.
She leaned forwards and almost touched Lucas. "You're definitely wondering about my chest, right?" She stuck her tongue out.
"No I'm not!" Lucas tried to dismiss the idea but as Emilia had brought it up, his mind inadvertedly went to that specific topic. He, without realising, looked at her chest but quickly looked away knowing he was getting toyed with and he turned red. He looked again at the Psychic mage who had started to grin shamelessly knowing that she had Lucas in her trap.
"Hehe, got you!" The Blue Rose mage pointed and smiled.
Lucas crossed his arms and turned his head away. His ears were a crimson red with how embarrased he was.
"Fine, fine, I'll stop", the silver-haired teen smiled. She then started to yawn. "It's definitely time to get back. I hope we see each other again, Lucas!" Emilia summoned her broom with her Psychic Magic and used it to fly back to her base.
Lucas was on the floor and breathed a sigh of relief. He waved goodbye to his new friend until she was out of view. He then walked back to the front of the tavern to see if his squad mates were there and fortunately enough, they were.
Though, just as she disappeared into the distance, she didn't know whether it was because of the drink or because of Lucas, but she was blushing ever so slightly.
He ran to them and saw that they were sat on a park fence.
"How did it go, you guys?" Lucas wondered.
When David walked up to Lucas, he turned his cheek and that's when the Light mage saw.
"A-A k-kiss?!" Lucas saw the outline of two pink lips on David's left cheek.
"Cha-ching! I got a girlfriend, and it's all thanks to you, my man!" David grabbed Lucas and lifted him up in the air.
"Hahaha! P-put me down! I'm not a baby!" Lucas squirmed yet laughed at the same time. David put him down and then Lucas asked Hamon the same question.
Hamon walked up to Lucas, he turned his cheek, and the same mark was there, just with a red colour lipstick.
"You too?!" Lucas gasped.
"Ohoho! Natalie would not let go of my right cheek… I mean I kissed her too but that's not something I should be telling a 15-year-old!" The glutton laughed.
The three Magic Knights enjoyed their night out and Lucas made another new friend, Emilia. They got their brooms out and slowly made their way to the Golden Dawn HQ where they could finally rest after an eventful day.
NOTES:
The Mixer was an eventful… event, wasn't it? I wanted David and Hamon to be more involved in this fan fic and this is only the start!
Emilia is quite cool if I do say so myself :P. She's not exactly an OC since I didn't really think about her too much when I had the idea for her, but I think I will expand on her more soon since I liked writing her. The fact she's in the Blue Rose Knights is interesting too since a certain someone is there as well.
Emilia's last name 'Fuchal' is pronounced as 'Fee-yoo-shal' or 'Fushal'.
David being a successful player… as well as Hamon!
