Coven Fairy
"Morning King." Kali said as the sleepy little demon waddled into the kitchen to the table.
"Morning Kali." King yawned, before Sapphire grabbed him and set him down in his high chair.
"I made you breakfast, scrambled eggs with bacon and a glass of orange juice." Kali said, putting the breakfast down in front of him.
"Wow, this actually looks appetizing." King said.
"You really don't remember me Eda? We raided the Conformatorium, we broke in and freed prisoners, Kali fought Warden Wrath, yesterday?" Luz questioned, following Eda into the kitchen as Kali handed her a mug of Apple Blood. Luz was currently dressed in a bathrobe with a pointy hat.
"Whoa, interesting choice of fashion this morning Luz." Kali said.
"Spare me on the details kid. I haven't even had my morning cup of Apple Blood yet." Eda said.
"You mean, apple juice?" Luz inquired.
"No." Eda said.
"Morning Eda, morning Luz." Kali said.
"Morning." Luz said.
"Oh yeah, you're here too." Eda said. "Apple Blood?"
"Really?" King asked.
"Listen King, it's early." Eda sighed.
"I'll have a mug." Kali said, taking an empty mug down from the cupboard, before Eda poured her some.
"Teach me some spells. When do I get a magic staff? Was I supposed to bring my own runes? Do you have a dangerous magical quest for me?" Luz questioned with a gasp.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down kid." Eda said, pushing the human out of her face. "Being a witch doesn't happen over night."
"Also, you're wrapped in a bath robe, and wrapped in the dirties traffic cone, I've ever seen." Kali added.
Luz removed the hat from her head, before blowing on it, knocking the soot off, and revealing it was indeed a traffic cone, crooked at the top.
"Haha." King laughed.
"Be nice King." Kali said, putting food down on the table. "Breakfast is ready if anyone's interested."
"Oh man, I haven't had Fiore cuisine in years. Come to Mama." Eda said happily.
"Oh, I was really hoping to get a magic staff." Luz sighed in disappointment, sitting at her plate, before looking surprised when she took a bite of her food. "Oh wow, this is amazing." She said, before she began stuffing her face.
"Glad to see it got you out of your funk about getting a magic staff." Kali smiled.
"A magic staff huh? Considering Kali's got one of her own already, I won't be needing to take her under my wing as an apprentice. Not that I'd really need to, since she's from the most powerful Guild in Fiore." Eda said, putting her mug down as she ate. "You really want one?"
"More then anything." Luz said with a mouth full of food before swallowing it.
"Magic Staff, come to me." Eda called to the magic staff, as she hopped to her feet.
There was a moment of waiting, before the sound of crashing and clanging could be heard, as Eda's staff came flying into the kitchen, and hit her in the head, before landing on the ground as Eda fumbled when trying to grab it.
"It's early." Eda huffed, picking it up.
"I bet." Kali chuckled.
"Now, witches are awarded their staffs from school." Eda said as she used her magic to bring something else into the kitchen. "With me as your teacher, you'll be taking a different approach." She stated, before dropping a bag full of potions at Luz's feet. "You'll have to work for it."
"How many methods of money gathering do you have?" Kali questioned, as she followed Luz and Eda through the house, after turning off the stove.
"I run a few businesses." Eda stated. "On weekends, I sell rare human treasures that Owlbert drags over from Luz's side of the realm." She said, grabbing a toy sword that was on the mantle.
"I shall smite my enemies, ages six to eleven." The sword said.
"But most days, I sell only the finest home made elixirs and potions." Eda stated.
"Snake oil?" Luz read, pulling one of the jars out of the bag.
"No one wants an un-oiled snake." Eda said. "Now follow me."
Kali just shrugged his shoulders, as he and Luz followed Eda to the balcony outside at the top of the tower attached to the house.
"Today Luz, you'll deliver packages and sell potions to that town over there, Bonesborough." Eda explained, pointing to the town closest to the Owl House. "You'll have to be careful, I have rivals everywhere, who'd like to take my business down, and you along with it."
"This has me concerned." Kali said. "I don't think Luz should be going out on her own for this job."
"You wanted a dangerous magical quest, sister you got one." Eda said.
"I won't let you down Ms. Eda." Luz said, turning to salute her, with the bag hanging over the ledge, before Kali caught it, as the bag slipped from her grip.
"Are your hands covered in snake oil or something?" Kali asked.
~Afterwards~
"Remember, never befriend a man in sandals, and always measure twice, cut once." Eda said, as Luz and Kali stepped out the door, with both of them fully dressed. "Good luck." She smiled, before closing the door on them.
"Do you think we'll be able to finish this before noon?" Luz asked.
"I doubt it. We don't know our way around the town." Kali said, before the door opened up again.
"Hold up, Eda's sending me with you as your guide." King said, coming out.
"Be back by nightfall, or risk mortal peril." Eda said, before closing the door again.
"Have a nice trip." Hooty said.
"Let's get this over with." King said, leading the way.
"Come on big man." Kali said, picking King up and putting him on her shoulder, with Sapphire moving to sit in the pouch on her hip. "Point the way and we'll follow."
"Yes finally, a throne I can relax on." King said.
~Bonesborough~
"Whoa." Luz gasped, as she and Kali stepped into town, seeing all sorts of different demons and creatures.
"Hey it's rude to stare." King said.
"He's right Luz. Knock it off, and stop drawing so much attention to us." Kali said.
"You're the one drawing attention to us, with that top that barely fits." King stated.
"I'll have you know this is my personal style, so back off King. Don't make me gobble you up." Kali said. "But I suppose you're right." She stated, reaching into her pouch, and pulling out a cowl with a hood long enough to cover her chest.
"Oooh, snazzy." King said.
"So, I'm the only human here?" Luz asked.
"Haven't seen any others." King said, hopping down from Kali's shoulders. "Aside from Kali."
"But there must be a reason for that right? The both of us coming here. Like, what if I, Luz Noceda, average teen, actually had a predetermined path of greatness. Just like Azura." Luz stated.
"I don't think that's what's happening here Luz." Kali said.
"Yeah, did Azura's path to greatness ever involve delivering boil cream?" King asked, pulling a bottle from the bag.
"Today I'm delivering packages, but tomorrow I'll be earning the respect of everyone on the Boiling Isles, with my magical prowess." Luz said.
"Ha, good luck. The Boiling Isles is nothing more then a cesspool of despair." King said.
"More like a cesspool of delight." Luz said.
"I don't think you wanna be in any sort of cesspool." Kali said, before Luz walked off to talk with a centaur looking demon. "Luz?"
Kali just looked from afar, as Luz just talked with the demon, before coming back, looking a bit freaked out.
"Well?"
"He bought a potion, but I might have inadvertently insulted him." Luz said. "His face is on his chest, not his head."
So the trio went about their day, with Kali having to bail Luz out from a doorbell that tried eating her after she rang it, a random sinkhole of quicksand, and a swarm of fairies trying to eat her skin. Eventually they stopped for some lunch, with Kali and Luz eating some food she brought from Fiore with her, while King ate something called a, not dog.
"I know I've had enough delight for one day." King said.
"I thought being one of the only two humans in a magical world, would make me special." Luz said. "But apparently, it just makes everyone want to scream at me, or eat me." She stated, lifting her arm to show there was still a single fairy trying to eat her, before Kali zapped it away with a string of lightning shot from her finger.
"What'd you expect Luz? You can't honestly tell me you thought this world would be a fantasy dream come true." Kali said. "That's just being naïve and asking to get killed. This is reality, not some fairy tale."
"Well what do you know about it huh? You came from a world filled with magic, just like this one." Luz stated, sounding angry. "At this point, Azura would already have been sent out on an enchanted quest. Where's my quest granting Wizard?" She said, showing King and Kali the illustration in the book, depicting Azura getting a scroll for her quest, from a well dressed Wizard.
"Sorry to break it to ya Luz, but aside from Kali, no one here is that well dressed." King stated.
"This has been a rough day." Luz said, getting up and hauling the bag over her shoulder. "Let's just deliver this last package and go home."
"Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe one the way back, I can show you both my… guild…" Kali said, before she and Luz stopped, when they passed through a pair of doors, and on the other side was a castle. "Whoa."
"So pretty." Luz said, before they went up to the door and rang the doorbell.
Almost instantly, the doors opened up outward, allowing for Luz, King, and Kali to step inside.
"Big houses always belong to big whack jobs. Let's get the package inside, and get out of here." King said.
"Gotta collect payment as well." Kali added as they stepped in.
"Hello?" Luz asked, following her.
"Hey wait." King called to them, running after the two before he was startled as the doors shut themselves.
"We're delivering a package from Ms. Eda the Owl Lady." Luz said, as the three of them entered the study, before the entire study lit up, revealing it was a library, with a well dressed wizard standing at the top of the stairs. "Today just got good." She gasped.
While Luz gasped in excitement, Kali couldn't help but feel there was something off with this whole situation.
"Magical Wizard." Luz gasped.
"Weird old man in jim-jams." King said.
'First Luz complains about this world not being what she expected it to be, then a few minutes later her ideal fantasy world comes to life. Something's fishy about this, and I don't like it.' Kali thought. "Luz, I'm getting a bad feeling about this guy."
"Don't be such a stick in the mud Kali." Luz said.
"I was in my Oscillarium, reading the stars. An' who might you be with eyes full of curiosity?" The wizard asked.
"My name's Kali, this is Luz, we're here to deliver a package from Eda the Owl Lady." Kali said. "Sign and pay for it, then we'll be on our way out of your hair."
"Kali, don't be rude." Luz said. "I'm sorry about her."
"Tis quite alright, but I must say, I sense something very strange and unique about you young lady." The wizard said, looking at Luz.
'Definitely playing on Luz's desire to live out a fantasy adventure.' Kali thought. "Look we're kinda busy, and have a few more potions to sell, so if you wouldn't mind, we'll just collect payment, get out of your hair, and leave."
"Oh but won't you join me for tea?" The wizard asked, using his magic to set up a tea table with cups and snacks.
"Okay." Luz gasped, before Kali put a hand on her shoulder.
"Luz, I am really not liking this old man's approach with you. Just a moment ago, you were complaining that this world wasn't like the fantasy adventure you dreamed of, then suddenly someone dressed exactly like the wizard in that book you showed me and King, comes up and says there's something unique and special about you?" Kali asked. "Don't you see this could just be one of those rivals Eda warned us about?"
"Well I don't think he is, Kali." Luz said. "An' what would you know? You were born in a world of magic, and adventure, why can't I enjoy something that awesome for once in my life?"
"That's not what I'm saying at all Luz." Kali said. "Where the hell is this coming from? I didn't even say anything about the world I come from."
"You did before we walked in here." Luz said.
"I was wanting to introduce you and King to some of my friends, and the Guild Master." Kali stated. "Maybe even get him to convince you to join the Guild while you're learning how to use magic. This though, this isn't something you should trust, and I've been on plenty of jobs where there's someone trying to kill me, after befriending me."
"Luz, Kali's just saying, this all seems too coincidental to be believable." King said.
"Well I'm gonna sit and have tea with him." Luz said.
"Fine. You wanna be stubborn, then be stubborn." Kali scoffed before pulling out a silver pocket knife. Rolling it over her thumb, Kali opened it to reveal a blue crystalline blade made out of some sort of gemstone, before swinging it down and opening a tear in space. "I'm heading to the Guildhall, I'll see you back at the Owl House. King stay with her, and keep an eye on the Wizard for anything shady."
"Roger that." King said with a salute.
~Fairy Tail~
"Ugh, I cannot believe that girl." Kali groaned, slamming down another mug. "What is her deal?"
"Something wrong Kali?"
Kali looked up to see, a slim young woman of below average height with long, white hair, curling slightly at the ends, with two bangs framing her face and reaching down to her rather impressive I-Cup chest. Her bangs were tied up in a short, upward ponytail obtained, exposing her forehead completely. Her eyes were large and blue, while she had a curvy, voluptuous body, with hips to match the size of her breasts. Her clothes consisted of a sleeveless, ankle-length maroon dress with a pleated skirt. The chest of her dress is adorned by a large, pink bow, and similarly colored trimmings framing the rather ample neckline, acting as straps, and circling around the waist.
"Yeah Mira, everything's fine, it's just this girl I met in the Boiling Isles." Kali sighed. "She's a human from the realm Eda's door actually leads to, and she's obsessed with the idea, that she may have a predetermined destiny awaiting her. All because she's one of only two humans in the Boiling Isles."
"Who's the second?" Mira asked. "It can't be you, since you're the granddaughter of one of the residents of the Boiling Isles."
"Fair point, then I guess that makes her the only one there." Kali sighed.
"So what's got you this worked up over her?" Mira inquired.
"I tried warning her against sitting down and talking with this wizard guy we met during our last delivery run, but she was adamant about talking with him." Kali stated, playing with her mug. "He's a con-artist, and at best he's not someone who can be trusted. At worst, he's hunting Luz down for her rarity, and to sell on the black market."
"An' you just left her there with him?" Mira asked.
"Hey, it's not like I did so unprepared." Kali said. "Sapphire's lurking in the shadows, and will notify me if anything happens. Once she does, I'll get right to the scene and rescue Luz. I just left to deescalate the situation."
"An' what do you plan on doing if Luz does end up being in trouble?" Mira asked.
"I'll just talk to her, tell her life isn't a fantasy." Kali stated. "Let her know that, we're all special in our own way, we just gotta find it first."
"That's very mature of your Kali." Mira smiled.
"I had a good role model." Kali smiled, looking to Mira.
~The Owl House~
"Today's been a lot more peaceful then I thought it'd be." Eda said, sipping on a cup of tea Apple Blood. "I thought it'd be chaos with another member of Fairy Tail living under my roof, but it's relatively peaceful."
"I'm back." Kali said, entering through the front door.
"Welcome back." Eda said. "Luz and King are upstairs if you're wondering. She seemed kinda happy for some reason. Something about a quest she was chosen for?"
Kali sighed. "I'll go see what she's up to."
Heading up the stairs, Kali tried to think of something to say to Luz about this quest she was being sent on, and how it might be dangerous. As she reached Luz's door, she heard Luz speaking up, and talking with King.
"So, King. What kind of chosen one should I be?" Luz asked.
'Chosen one? The old bastard's definitely playing with her heart and dreams, no doubt about it.' Kali thought.
"Should I be full of optimism and goodness, like the Good Witch Azura?" Luz asked. "Or should I be like a bad girl chosen one with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude. I act like I don't care, but I secretly do."
"The hell is all this nonsense about?" Kali asked, making himself known as she opened the door. "Chosen one? Luz, you literally met the old man, three hours ago. What makes you think, he's not just stringing you along for some twisted ploy to get at Eda?"
"Please Kali, I don't have time for your paranoid nonsense." Luz said. "I am a chosen one, the wizard said so due to a prophecy he's studied."
"That's bullshit and you know it." Kali said. "Luz, I know we only met yesterday, but I'm just concerned you're getting yourself into something you won't be able to come back from."
"I don't need you concern Kali. You're not my mom, so just leave me alone. If I want her advice, I'll give her a call." Luz stated, turning away from Kali.
"You know what, fine." Kali said grabbing King. "I'm just trying to be someone who'd be a good friend to you, but if you wanna go on this suicide mission, then be my guest."
"What's the big idea?" King asked as Kali left, closing the door behind her. "Are you seriously gonna let her go out there, all on her own?"
"Of course not. I'm a member of Fairy Tail, we don't let one of our own walk into a trap of certain doom." Kali said. "I'm gonna tail her from afar, make sure she's safe. But with the way things are now, she's not gonna accept any help from me. As an experienced Adventurer, I have a few ideas of how this situation is gonna play out." She stated as she put King down on the couch.
"So something is definitely up with Luz and that old geezer huh?" Eda asked.
"Yeah, and as a fellow member of Fairy Tail, I'm needing to ask you a big favor." Kali said, looking at Eda as Sapphire came out of the shadows and crawled up Kali's arm to her shoulder.
"What do you need?" Eda asked.
~Luz~
"My first mythical quest." Luz said, standing at the city limits sign, outside the forest of Bonesborough, before jumping down, and sliding along the slope of the hill.
Making her way through the forest, a thick dense fog began to envelope the area, making the forest seem darker, and blotting out some of the sunlight.
"Okay, I've got my scroll, got my youthful optimism, got my trusty weapon." She said, pressing the button on the toy as she pulled it out.
"By the Power of Skullgar, I am out of batteries." The toy said, before it shut off for good.
Continuing her journey, Luz began to question her decisions, leading up to this moment.
"You know, I wonder if I made the right choice coming here." The human asked herself, before gasping as she saw an entire village of cat creatures meowing, with dragons flying overhead.
As she made her way through the town, Luz gasped when she saw a dashing man with an eyepatch, pull himself out of the fountain in the center of town, before he spotted her.
"I see, so you're the chosen one." The young man said. "Huh, the Celestial Staff should have picked me, Nevareth Bladestrife. Teen Prince of Angstmore."
"Yes, yes I did make the right choice." Luz said, looking him up and down.
Up in the air, Kali stood on the staff of her Palisman, her advanced draconic hearing and sight allowing her to see and listen in on the situation.
"Please, Bladestrife, Angstmore? How much more obvious could it get? An' that eyepatch? I've seen real injuries less believable then that missing eye." Kali scoffed. "Hope you're having more luck then I am, Eda."
~Eda and King~
"This is where we met the scones, I mean the Wizard before." King said sniffing around the ground. "Why did Kali send us to do the recon work, while she goes after Luz?"
"She's younger than me, and has a better chance at spying on Luz without being detected, with her Dragonslayer Magic." Eda said. "Besides, she made it clear she'd tail Luz to make sure she was safe, while we did the work on gathering information about the… wizard?" She asked, walking through the curtains they'd walked through earlier.
"Whoa, it wasn't like this before." King said, seeing the castle in shambles and ruins.
"I don't like this." Eda said.
Entering into the crumbling structure, Eda and King looked around to see the books that had been in perfect condition before, were now withering old, and turning to dust. Eda's attention was drawn from the books, to something she kicked on the ground, before she picked up the discarded parchments, and saw a hidden message written on each of them, in different styles, while all looked like some sort of map.
"I really, don't like this." She stated. "Kali was right."
~Kali~
"Okay, who the hell is this guy?" Kali asked with Sapphire on her shoulders, both of them spying on Luz from behind some trees as she was walking with her new companion.
"Nevareth, your vengeful backstory is so compelling, and I'm loving your animal sidekick." Luz said, grabbing and cuddling the flying creature next to them.
"After my village was consumed, my heart has known nothing but vengeance." Nevareth stated.
"Nevareth." Luz said, sounding sympathetic to his plight.
"Lady Luz. Do you think love can bloom on the battlefield?"
"Gag me with a spoon." Kali groaned. "That is one of the most overused and cliched lines in an adventuring story line. Does Luz seriously not see what's going on here?"
"Ooh, hew-hew. This quest, is questing in all the right ways." Luz said with a smile.
"She can't be serious, can she?" Kali asked as they began going over a bridge, only to be stopped by a cat like gnome creature.
"Ew." Nevareth said.
"Hum-di-diddle. To pass the bridge, you must first solve my riddle." The creature said.
"Another overused trope? Wake up and smell the morning coffee Luz." Kali hissed.
"Hit me little furry man."
"Your quest shall stop, if you fail this game, so tell me my dear what is my name?" He asked.
"Luz is not gonna be able to actually get this one correct. Most likely though, she'll be able to pass no matter what name she says. It's gotta be all part of the trap she's being lured to." Kali sighed.
"Uh… Chris?"
"That's it, you may cross the bridge."
"Or he could have his name, written on a name tag pinned to his shirt." Kali groaned. "How has she not seen the obvious signs of a trap?"
"An' please take this chosen one, it shall help you on your journey." Chris said, giving Luz a golden ring with a blue gemstone on it.
"Wow, this is amazing. Thank you." Luz said, taking the ring.
"Do you need a cape?" Nevareth asked.
"Nah, I think I'm good…"
"You can use my shirt." Nevareth stated, tearing his shirt off, and making it into a cape for Luz, showing off his ripped body.
"Whoa, yes, yes I could use a cape." Luz said excitedly.
"Please, Natsu's body is more ripped then his." Kali scoffed. "He's got nothing on Fairy Tail's Salamander when it comes to physique.
"Three cheers for the chosen one." Nevareth said.
~Eda and King~
"Oh no." Eda said, as she and King came across the same village that Luz passed through and met Nevareth in, while it too was in shambles. "Are you sure she came here?"
"The trail Kali left us, doesn't lie." King said, following a trail of tiny crackers.
"Hey, wake up you. What have you done with Luz?" Eda questioned, interrogating one of the dolls, after approaching the weed overgrown fountain.
"To find your Pupils, and still your wrath, look ahead and follow the path." The doll stated, before decaying into nothing but dust in Eda's hands.
"The cat man melted." King gasped.
"It's a trap. Kali was right." Eda said. "They want me to follow Luz and Kali. Which means they know Kali is following Luz"
"So what do we do?" King asked.
"There's nothing we can do, except leave it for Kali to take care of." Eda said.
"But what about Luz?"
"She'll be fine." Eda said. "After all, Kali seems like she's quite perceptive, she'll be able to save her, no matter the sacrifices needed."
~Kali~
"Thank you for inviting me to your feast Princess. All your food was so tiny and cute." Luz said, walking through the forest, with Nevareth and a few fairies that joined their party, before the Fairy Princess used her magic to conjure a bracelet for Luz.
"For you, chosen one." She said, putting the bracelet on the human.
"Thank you." Luz said. "You have all been so kind, and thoughtful."
"Something's not right about those pieces of jewelry." Kali said, still managing to keep her distance. "I don't know what it is, but I'm sensing some sort of magical energy coming off of them. An' that energy isn't sitting right with me."
"I hope this quest never ends." Luz stated.
"Your quest will soon come to an end, for the staff you seek, is just around the bend." Chris said.
"Thanks for ruining the mood Chris." Luz said.
"Go on chosen one, the Celestial Staff is yours." Nevareth said. "You've earned it."
Luz walked through the forest, saddened to say goodbye to her new friends, as they said their farewells.
The birds were chirping, and the sun was shining through the forest foliage, as Luz made her way to her destination, stopping with a gasp, when she saw the staff standing on a platform in the middle of the lake, with clouds overhead, parting with a ray of sunshine illuminating the staff.
Making her way to the edge of the lake, Luz looked down as the water began to light up, and a path manifested itself to her, from out of the water.
"I knew this world wasn't all gloom and doom, like Eda, and King said." Luz stated, marching along the path, towards the staff. "There is wonder here, and I… I think I came here for a reason. Okay, this is it. Moment of truth."
"Stop Luz." Kali cried out, just as the human girl was about to grab it.
Luz turned around to see Kali, standing at the start of the path as it sank back into the water.
"Kali? What do you want? Here to ruin my quest again?"
"Luz, don't you see? This isn't how reality works. Even in this world of mystery and wonder, there are still limits to what is truth, and what is fiction." Kali said.
"That's enough out of you." Nevareth stated, as he and the others restrained Kali and Sapphire.
"Luz, listen to me. I know you wanna feel special. Believe me, in my world I'm just like you, an outcast nobody wanted, until I found my place in Fairy Tail when I became a true member." Kali said. "But even then, I didn't feel like I belonged. I was lost, and I'm still looking, for who I am."
"Don't listen to her chosen one, she plots to deceive you." Nevareth said. "Reach for the staff, and pull it free of its pedestal now."
"It's taxing, isn't it?" Kali questioned, looking over at Nevareth. "Keeping up this illusion, for so long. Takes a tole on someones magic, to keep it up for this long."
Kali pulled her arm forward, before she slammed her elbow back into Nevareth's face, causing it to crack and echo like a hollow piece of wood, before it fell to the ground, revealed to be nothing more then a puppet, while Sapphire freed herself from the others, burning them.
"Don't you see Luz, Nevareth was nothing more then a puppet. A tool to manipulate you into letting your guard down." Kali said.
"No, you're lying." Luz said. "You just made that puppet with your magic, you can't be telling the truth. You're just jealous that you're not the only special one here."
Kali just looked at Luz, before she sighed in annoyance. With Sapphire taking on her staff form, Kali slammed the shaft into the ground, before drawing a giant circle of magic in the air.
"Dispell!" She called out, casting the circle of magic, before it echoed out through the air, revealing reality to Luz.
The illusion of the lake broke, revealing a dried up, wasteland of sorrow and misery. Luz's eyes shrank in horror, realizing now that Kali was right all along, and that she'd been played for a fool, as a large pink tentacle demon came out of hiding, with all the other puppets hanging from his tentacles.
"Oh, you ruined my illusion, and we were having so much fun too." The demon said.
"I'm assuming this is your true form Adegast?" Kali asked, turning around to face the demon.
"Guilty as charged." Adegast smirked.
"Kali." Luz gasped, seeing her friend up against what seemed like impossible odds.
"You were targeting Luz, because you thought taking her out, would cripples Eda's business, didn't you?" Kali asked.
"You are a clever one. Bit surprising from one of Eda's pupils." Adegast said.
"Luz, stay back." Kali instructed, spinning Sapphire around a bit, before resting her over her shoulders, as she tossed her cloak. "Sapphire, Formation Apex!"
Sapphires eyes shined with power, before she turned into a ray of light that circled the valley, and flew straight at Kali from behind, as she held her arms out. The moment Kali was hit by the light, she was enveloped in a cocoon of light, that blinded Adegast and Luz, before the tentacle Demon was struck in the face by a powerful punch.
With her sight back to her, Luz looked to Kali and gasped, when she saw that Sapphire, had turned into a semi suit of armor, covering Kali's underboob, arms, shoulder blades, spine, legs, back of her hands, and feet. Sapphire's head had turned into a helmet for Kali to protect herself with, while giving her a fiercer, menacing look, while Fairy Tail's emblem was in the center of the back, right between the shoulder blades.
"What the hell are you?" Adegast questioned, trembling as he saw this new fierce look on Kali.
"I am Kali, a member of Fairy Tail." She hissed, before she slammed her fist into Adegast's face again, knocking him back.
(Cue Music… I'm Dangerous: Everlove)
"An' you just made the biggest, and last mistake of your life, targeting a friend of Fairy Tails." Kali growled, marching up to Adegast.
"Kali?" Luz questioned, her eyes aglow with awe and wonder.
Spinning around on the ball of her foot, Kali hit Adegast with a spinning roundhouse kick, slamming the heel of her combat heel into his eye.
"Damn it, you bitch." Adegast cried out. "Fine then, I'll show you what a true illusionary master is capable of."
Drawing multiple circles of magic in the air, Adegast surrounded the area in another illusion, but this time it was one from Kali's mind.
"I'd heard Illusionists from the Boiling Isles were capable of glimpsing into the minds of their targets. Didn't take it for anything but hearsay however." Kali said, seeing her surroundings changing to the Fairy Tail guild hall.
"You are just as wicked a vile as Edalyn Clawthorne." Adegast's voice echoed around her, as the figures of her friends appeared around her.
"You're a monster."
"You must be purged from this world."
"I can't believe the Guild Master allowed a freak like you, into the Guild."
"You sicken me."
"Be gone foul demon."
Kali just stood there, clenching her fists tight, before she pulled her arms back, and with a heavy thrust forward, created a sonic wave from her clap, destroying the illusion, revealing Adegast standing right over her, a terrified expression on his face, as he caught the rage that was in her eye.
"Guess you didn't look deep enough inside my mind." Kali said. "If you had, you'd have known no one but Laxus says that kind of stuff to me. The others, they treat me like family, gave me a place to belong, even though I still felt like an outcast."
Adegast backpedaled as he trembled in fear, with Kali stepping towards him in anger.
"The town of Magnolia, the town I was born and raised in, treats me like I'm nothing more then a monster. A creature to be killed, should I step out of line. The people there abuse and ridicule me, on a daily basis, even go so far as to make attempts on my life outside the guilds knowing." Kali exclaimed. "So your petty, insults and words, have no effect on me, because I know I am not the monster they think I am. Because I, am, an AMAZON!"
Kali shot her face up, looking right at Adegast, before she lunged right at him, hitting the Demon with powerful punches to the face, before jumping up, and hitting the Demon with a power infused kick to the head, squishing him like a bag of mochi.
(End Song…)
"Kali." Luz called out, throwing Kali her toy sword.
Kali caught the fake weapon, before she used her strength to skewer Adegast through the forehead. This action caused the Demon to cry out in pain before his body began to shrink, until he wasn't any bigger then the size of Sapphire's head.
Kali sighed as her Palisman armor light up, and broke off into particles of light once more, before reforming as Sapphire on the teens shoulder. Picking up Adegast as he tried to get away, Kali smiled and tossed him in the air, before catching him in her mouth, eating him up like a piece of calamari.
"Kali?" Luz questioned, causing the teen to look back at her, just before she slurped up a tentacle that had stuck out.
"Oh, sorry Luz. Did you want some of that?" Kali asked, after swallowing the last bit of Adegast.
"N-no I'm good." Luz said, before she looked a little down. "I guess what you said about this quest was true huh. I really am just a nobody, who's a sucker for scams."
Kali looked at Luz before she sighed, and nodded to Sapphire, who took on her staff form.
"C'mon, there's something I wanna show you Luz." Kali said, sitting on Sapphire's staff.
Luz sat down on Sapphire's staff, next to Kali, and held on tight to her fellow teen as they took off, with Luz closing her eyes in fear for how high they were going. Even when they stopped, Luz didn't open her eyes.
"It's okay Luz, open your eyes. I'm pretty sure you're gonna like what you see." Kali said.
Luz opened her eyes, hesitantly, before they widened as they filled with wonder. The view they saw, made Luz gasp as the Boiling Isles was revealed to be the skeleton of a larger then life beast, bigger then an entire continent.
"It's beautiful." Luz said.
"This, was the first view of the Boiling Isles I ever saw." Kali said. "Like an idiot, I opened up a portal leading to nothing but open air, when I first made my way to the Boiling Isles. But what I saw, the Titans skeleton, was so breathtaking I just sat here for hours, taking in the beauty."
"I can see why." Luz nodded in agreement.
"Listen Luz, everyone wants to believe they're, the chosen one. But if we all just sat around waiting for a prophecy to make us special, we'd die waiting." Kali stated. "You don't need super powers or a predetermined destiny to be special, because you are special. Just the way you are."
Luz was silent for a moment, before she looked down with a saddened expression on her face.
"Why did you come back for me, when I was so mean to you?" Luz asked.
Kali looked at Luz, before she smiled softly.
"Luz, there's a reason why I feel more at home in the Boiling Isles, then I do in Fiore." Kali stated. "Believe me when I say, I care about my friends. That includes the friends I've just met, which means you."
Luz smiled as she leaned into Kali, a feeling of understanding washing over her face.
"How'd you pull off that armor transformation with Sapphire?" Luz asked.
"Magic." Kali simply said, before she and Luz laughed with one another at the simplicity of the answer.
"Thanks for having my back, Kali." Luz said.
"Any time Luz, any time." Kali smiled.
