SmackDown Filming: March 26, 2013
"To be honest, I appreciate the early birthday gift from work to let me beat up Cody tonight." Randy comments as he's stretching in preparation for his match tonight.
"But it's not a singles match." I comment from where I sit on the couch.
Randy shrugs. "A six man tag with him on the opposing team is good enough for me."
"I guess that's good then. Just so you know, I have to go soon. I actually have a work thing to go do."
"And what exactly are you doing?"
"I'm supposed to go find this new interview girl and show her around, make sure she's all set for tonight. She's doing her first interview tonight."
"Oh, I know about that. Sheamus, Big Show, and I are her first interview. Her name is Renee I think."
"I think you're right. I guess I've gotta make sure that she's all set for tonight then. Go easy on her if she screws up a little on her first night though. We don't want a repeat of your situation with Todd Grisham. Do we?"
"I highly doubt that will repeat itself. Plus, with it being her first day, I completely understand if things aren't perfect. Were either of us perfect on our first day?"
"Personally, I was far from it."
"So was I." Randy stops stretching. "I could just go strategize with Sheamus and Big Show while you're with Renee."
"That's not a bad idea."
"You won't be winning though, Randal." Cody comments from the doorway. "My team will beat yours."
"You're not allowed to call me that." Randy tells Cody.
I look at Cody. "Have you ever heard of knocking?"
"I have actually, but I do what I want." Cody smirks at me.
"Not in our locker-room. We have rules in here, like you need to start knocking. By the way, I really hope Randy kicks your ass now."
Randy laughs. "I'll gladly do it. Rissa and I both have things to go do, Cody, so you're gonna have to find somewhere else to go hang out."
"Fine, I'll go find Ted." Cody leaves.
"You probably should go find Renee."
"I will." I walk by Randy and kiss his cheek. "I love you."
"I love you too."
I was walking around backstage, looking for Renee. Unfortunately, I had literally no idea what she looked like, so I was just looking for a woman who I didn't recognize who looked completely lost. As I turn down a hallway, I see Nikki and Brie talking to a woman who fits just that description. While this was the first time I had seen Brie in person since she's been back and I'd rather not be near her, I had a job to do, and I wasn't going to leave Renee to figure things out on her own.
Nikki turns and spots me. "There she is! I was about to call you. Renee here was looking for you."
I nod. "I was looking for her too actually. I didn't want to leave her to try to figure things out herself."
"I really appreciate it." Renee sticks her hand out. "I'm Renee. Glad to finally get to meet Marissa Orton in person."
I shake Renee's hand. "I'm glad to meet you too. Let me show you around."
"Thank you so much."
"If you two end up with some free time, you know where to find me." Nikki comments.
I smile at Nikki. "We do. See you around."
"See ya."
Renee and I walk off together.
"So…uh…not to be nosy, but do you and Brie not like each other?" Renee carefully asks.
"No, there's some bad history there." I answer. "These days, it's just as long as she doesn't say anything to me, I won't say anything to her. What made our issues so obvious to you?"
"Well, when I told them I was looking for you, Brie made a face, and Nikki was the one who offered to call you. Plus, you two didn't talk to each other when all four of us were standing together. Nikki was acting like you and her were close. I figured Brie would've done the same if that was the same case."
"It's just a bunch of drama that should stay in the past. I'd rather worry about other things." I glance at my baby bump.
"Yeah, that's fair. How far along are you?"
"Twenty-five weeks now."
"Wow. Will you go on maternity leave soon?"
"I am after WrestleMania week."
"Sounds like a good time to take time off."
"It should be. I think it's crazy that you're getting thrown into the mix right before WrestleMania. That's the worst time to get thrown into things. I would know. I had my first televised match six days before WrestleMania that year."
Renee nods. "Yeah, it's a lot."
"Are you nervous?"
"A little, but not as bad as you'd think. I've been a wrestling fan for ages, so this is really cool."
"I know what you mean. It's cool getting to be backstage around people you loved to watch on TV."
"No kidding. Like having you show me around is cool because I've liked watching you on TV for years."
I smile. "Well, I'm flattered. How about we actually get around to showing you around?"
Renee laughs. "I think that's a great idea."
I decided to stand off to the side and watch as Renee filmed her interview. Since I had been showing her around and Randy was in it anyway, I didn't see any harm in it.
"So there it is. The three of you have a match at WrestleMania against the Shield." Renee comments to begin the interview. "Now, how have you guys been gelling together as a group since you've made this decision?"
"Well, we're doing really good. We really are." Randy answers. "We've got a common enemy, so nothing else really matters."
"So is it safe to say that you two have set aside your differences?" Renee asks Sheamus and Big Show.
"Absolutely." Sheamus tells her. "From now until WrestleMania, Big Show knows he has to be part of this team. So as far as I'm concerned, we're not gonna have any problems."
"I wasn't the one to have problems to begin with." Big Show comments. "I mean, you're the one with the issues."
"Well, in all fairness, the only reason I had an issue was because we didn't know if we could trust you or not."
"That's my problem that you have issues?"
"Well, it kinda is, Show…"
"Hey! Hey!" Randy interrupts. "We've gotta focus. Okay? We've gotta focus. Tonight, we've got a match. Are we good?"
"We're good." Sheamus answers.
"Alright, alright then. Good. See, we're all on the same page, which is really bad news for our opponents tonight but even worse news for the Shield." Randy walks away to end the interview.
Randy pulls me into his arms. "Man, you're so beautiful."
I smile. "Thanks."
"I think that interview went well on her end."
"Yeah, me too." I look over at Renee. "Hey, Renee, great job."
"Thanks! See you around!" Renee walks off.
"Let's head back to our locker-room." Randy tells me.
"Okay." I reply before we start heading towards our locker-room.
"So how'd things go with showing Renee around?"
"I think things went really well. I think she'll be around for a while. I like her."
"That's good. You don't like a good amount of people."
"She and I hit it off really well. I think we could be friends."
"That's good for both of you."
