I woke up in bed with Randy next to me, as he came to visit and celebrate our wedding anniversary. Randy's arm wrapped around my waist before I could get out of bed, so I knew he was awake too. I roll over and kiss his cheek.
"Morning, sweetheart." Randy mumbles tiredly.
"I know you were already awake since you wrapped your arm around me." I comment.
"Only for a few minutes. I put my arm around you because I didn't feel like it was time to get out of bed yet."
"Well, if we're going to go see our son today, which I plan on doing, we need to get up soon."
"Five more minutes?"
"Sure. Five more minutes." I lay my head on Randy's chest.
"Happy anniversary by the way." Randy starts playing with my hair.
"Happy anniversary."
"I hope you know when you get home, I might be the needy one in this marriage."
"I won't complain if you're a bit needy, but it's bold to assume that you'll be more needy than me."
Randy laughs. "Fair enough. You're pretty needy. I like it though. Don't tell a soul, but I actually like cuddling with you."
"I guess I can keep that secret for you if you're nice enough to me."
Randy kisses my forehead. "I don't think I could be mean to you."
"Good. You know what is bumming me out?"
"What's bumming you out?"
"The fact that there's pretty much no way that I can be in Saint Louis when Extreme Rules happens. Clearly, I wouldn't be wrestling, but I like the idea of being around when there's a pay-per-view in my hometown."
"I get that. Bums me out that you won't be backstage for me when I wrestle in our hometown. I don't think you've missed a show in Saint Louis since 2007."
"Your fault."
"I know. My bad. Anyway, I feel kinda bummed too. You'll be around for the next show at home though. I'm sure."
"Hopefully. Speaking of work, I've got a bit of a concern." I get out of bed. "Do you think they'll make me come back sooner than planned since I gave birth three months early?"
Randy also gets out of bed. "I didn't think about that. Would you want to go back early?"
"I'm not sure. With the assumption that I was having the baby in July, they wanted me back on paperwork in October. Since I had the baby in April, they may think I can be back with that in July."
"Have you discussed this with Vince at all?"
"No."
"Well, I wouldn't worry about it until you do. Do you think you'd be okay with being back on paperwork in July?"
"Possibly if he's home by then. If the baby is still in the hospital, I'm not doing shit. But I doubt I'd want to be backstage very much, let alone on TV at that point."
Randy nods. "Take it one step at a time. Let's get ready to go see our son."
Randy and I had gotten back from seeing the baby at the hospital. The doctors were adamant that he was doing very well, so I was starting to feel pretty optimistic that he'd be taken home sooner than later.
"I'm happy that I got to see him in person today." Randy comments as he sits on the bed. "I mean you let me video chat to see him all the time, but it's just not the same."
"I'm glad you're here to see him too." I replied. "I'm not the only parent he should be bonding with."
"I agree. I'll be taking a lot of time to bond with him when he's home. I'll hold him, and we'll watch wrestling together."
"You're already going to have him watching that?"
Randy shrugs. "Our son needs to know his roots. Is there a better way to show him?"
"No bra and panties matches."
"What if it's one that you're in?"
"Especially if it's one I'm in."
"Fine, I won't watch any of those. Any other rules?"
"If it upsets him, you don't have him watch it."
"Agreed. We have a dinner reservation at five by the way."
"We do?"
"Yeah, I got fancy dinner reservations for our anniversary. Figured it'd do us some good to get out and do something."
"Yeah, you're right. Thank you, Randy. I appreciate it."
"Anything for you, sweetheart."
"I really appreciate it. I hope you know that."
"I do. And I appreciate you. You've been doing a lot lately, especially when it comes to the baby. I couldn't be more appreciative."
"Thanks. I couldn't do it without you supporting me though."
"Speaking of that, I had the idea of getting someone to stay here for a week or so to give you some company that isn't me. Would you be cool with that?"
I laugh. "Your sister is literally coming up next weekend and staying for the week."
"Oh, she didn't tell me. Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"I figured you two talked enough that she'd say something."
"Apparently not. Nevermind then, you've got plenty of company then."
"You can come see me whenever though."
"Yeah, I know. At the end of the month, I'm planning on being here whenever I'm off work, so you'll be stuck with me."
"I don't mind that at all."
"Good. Do you know what to wear for dinner?"
"No, I'm not sure."
Randy smirked. "Let me pick out your outfit for you."
I smile at Randy as we eat dinner together. "Thank you."
Randy raised an eyebrow at me. "For what?"
"This, I needed this a bit. I've been pretty much bouncing back and forth between the apartment and the hospital for about a month."
"Oh, no problem."
"I can't believe we've been married for two years."
"Yeah, it flew by pretty fast. It was a crazy two years."
I laugh. "No kidding."
Randy grabs my hand. "It's totally worth it though."
I smile. "I love you."
"I love you too. Forever and always."
"Forever and always. It's nice that we got to settle down together and start a family. I couldn't ask for anything better."
"Me either honestly. It's such a wonderful thing."
"Ya know, I know how much I made comments about having doubts about being a good mother, but I'm starting to hit this point where I'm like okay I'm going to be a great mom. I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with it."
Randy grins. "That's great to hear, but don't hesitate to ask me for help."
"I won't. I just need to be here until the baby can go home and figure out the situation with work. That's all."
"And I'm sure you'll get that figured out. Just keep me posted about work though."
"I will."
"I'm just glad you seem to be doing better."
"Yeah, me too. Getting back to therapy was definitely the right call for now, but I honestly think this has been the best I've been mentally since reading the letters from my mom."
"I'm happy to hear that. Between that and the doctors thinking the baby is doing very well, things seem to be getting more optimistic for us lately."
"I agree. I'm glad you're here right now too."
"Did you think I'd let you be alone on our anniversary? I'm better than that, Rissa."
"I know. I have my six weeks checkup in two weeks."
"How are you feeling about that?"
"Pretty good honestly. Hopefully I will be medically cleared to do two things I've been missing a bit."
Randy raises an eyebrow with curiosity. "And what would that be?"
"Well, the first one is working out. I've been someone who always works out when I can for the past decade, even during my pregnancy. Not working out is weird. As for the other thing, since we're in public, I'll just leave it as it's something that you've also been missing."
"Only if you think you're ready for that again. I don't want you to feel pressured to do it."
"I don't think I feel pressured. All I have to say is I'm getting some birth control because I'm not ready to be pregnant again. Give me at least until 2014 to even consider it."
"I hear you, babe. This has been nice. Are you done eating? I can ask for our bill."
"I am done. Thanks."
"Of course." Randy asks for our bill and pays it.
I smile, knowing that things were getting better.
