Money in the Bank: July 14, 2013
Randy was in one of the two Money in the Bank ladder matches tonight, so I had traveled with him to Philadelphia to be there to support him from backstage. In some unexpected surprise, Eve was also here tonight since Cody was in the other Money in the Bank ladder match, and Michelle had decided to come to this pay-per-view to support John tonight as he defended the WWE Championship against Mark Henry.
Knowing that two of my three best friends were here tonight, I was in an extremely good mood.
Randy smiled at me as he was changing into his ring gear. "What's got you all smiling right now?"
I shrug. "Maybe the fact that my best friends are here tonight."
"Oh, I see."
"And maybe the fact that I should be calling myself Mrs. Money in the Bank at the end of the night."
Randy laughs. "Are you calling yourself that if I win?"
"I might, and I think you'll win."
"I didn't win the past two times."
"The last time was three years ago. You've learned since then. Plus, since I'm not competing tonight, you can have all of my Money in the Bank pay-per-view luck tonight."
"Your Money in the Bank pay-per-view luck?"
"Yes. I'm undefeated at Money in the Bank, Randal."
"You are?"
"Yes. In 2010, I beat Alicia Fox to become Divas Champion for the very first time. In 2011, I retained the Divas Championship against Kharma in a ladder match. In 2012, I had a Divas Championship Triple Threat against Eve and Beth and retained the Divas Championship again."
"Point taken, I'm stealing your Money in the Bank pay-per-view luck for tonight."
"You can have it. Are you worried about this match?"
"A bit, yes."
"You'll be fine, Randy. Just don't be hit by too many ladders."
"You make it sound easy, Rissa."
"It may not be easy, but you're Randy Orton. You always figure something out. You're a bit devious."
Randy laughs. "I'm devious? You're one to talk."
I shrug. "I'll admit that I am too. We work well together for a reason."
"Speaking of that, have you thought much about what your dad said?"
"About being an authority figure on TV when I come back for sure?"
"Yeah."
"Honestly, no. I don't think there's anything to think about unless there is an opening for an authority figure on TV, which as of now, there's not. I'm okay with being your manager as long as you are too."
"I don't think I'll ever have an issue with that." Randy sits next to me and kisses my forehead.
"Good."
"You should go see the girls. You see me way more than you see them."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm certain. Go have fun."
Chelle wraps her arms around me as I sit down as I find her and Eve, along with Layla, at a table in Catering. "Hey! I'm so glad to see you!"
I smile. "I'm glad to see all of you too. I don't get out much these days."
Layla gives a small laugh. "If it's any consolation, you're missed around here."
"Do people actually miss me here?"
"I do. I know a few of the other girls do at least. You left a bit of a gap in the Divas Division."
"I know. I do feel a bit bad about that."
"Everyone loved when you put AJ in her place last month."
I shrug. "She knows me well enough to know better than to make things personal with me."
"And I know you well enough to know your threat to beat her for the Divas Championship wasn't a joke."
"Record breaking four time Divas Champion does sound nice for me honestly, but unless she further provokes me, I doubt I'll be wrestling any time soon."
"What about being on TV?" Eve asks. "Have you talked to Vince about all that?"
"I have. I'm actually working again as of today. I'm back on paperwork, but as of now, I'm not required to be backstage at shows for work until October 14. Raw is in Saint Louis that day. It's not been discussed if I'll be back on TV immediately, but I have to be back on TV to get full pay at that point."
"October 14 is still a while away." Chelle comments. "I honestly would've thought after what you did with AJ last month that you would be back a little sooner."
"It's three months still, and honestly, I kinda want to be back sooner than that. That episode of Raw last month where I confronted AJ is the same day I talked to my dad. Then, I was adamant that I wanted to stay home until I wasn't allowed to. However, I think being in front of the crowd again, in the ring just talking to AJ, being cheered very loudly like I was, woke up that side of me that is an absolute workaholic and loves this business. I am fine starting with just paperwork that I can easily do at home right now to start off, but I really think that I could travel full time again and be back on TV before October."
"Have you talked to our boy Randy about that?"
"Not yet, but I plan on doing that soon."
"Do you know what you're going to do with the baby while you're traveling though?" Eve asks.
"That really hasn't been discussed much. He's been good when we leave him with Randy's parents, but I'd honestly love to have the baby travel with us at least when the shows are in the United States while he's still young. Once he is in school, he won't be able to travel with us much."
"That's good, but I take it that you haven't talked to Randy about that either."
"I will when we're talking about me coming back on the road though."
"Speaking of the baby, how has he been?" Layla asks with a smile.
"He's honestly the best. I love him to pieces. I think he's a bit of a momma's boy too. I don't have an issue with that."
"Does he get fussy very much?"
"Not really honestly. Occasionally he will, and then he's a bit stubborn. He comes by that honestly. I'm just glad he sleeps through the night now."
Chelle laughs. "That baby was always destined to be stubborn."
"Yeah, Randy and I both are too stubborn for our own good. The baby is probably going to be the same way. Little Junior takes after us so much, especially after Randy. Do you want to see pictures?"
The girls all nod.
I pull up pictures on my phone and put my phone on the table. "Take a look."
"I saw Randy's baby pictures once." Chelle comments. "Your kid looks just like him."
"I know. I don't think I've seen one physical trait of mine in him. I guess naming him after Randy was the right call."
Eve laughs. "No kidding."
I walk into my dad's office. "I hear you've got paperwork for me."
Vince nods. "I do. How have things been going?"
"They've been going good."
"Everything has been going well at home?"
"Yes, I even have the baby sleeping all night now."
"That's good. Here's your paperwork." Vince hands me a small amount of paperwork. "Do you have any questions?"
"I do actually, but it's not about the paperwork."
"Okay, what do you need?"
"I know we agreed that I'd start being backstage all the time again starting with the October 14 Raw. What if I didn't want to wait that long?"
"You want to come back sooner?"
"Part of me does. The thought keeps crossing my mind. I'd need to talk to Randy and get some things sorted, but I want to know how that would work first."
"How soon would you want to be back?"
"I'm not sure yet."
"Take the month of just paperwork. I'm not letting you back before SummerSlam next month. That gives you just paperwork until August 18. I want you to pace things out and not risk overwhelming yourself. If things are going well when August 18 comes around and you think that it's time to come back, I'll approve it. However, if you intend on coming back early by your own choice, I expect you to be back on TV immediately. Are we on the same page?"
"We are."
"Good, while I figure that you are just planning on being Randy's manager, I think you should consider other options if you're coming back next month."
"What kind of options?"
"Brad Maddox is only the interim Raw general manager at the moment. He may not be permanent. If you are set on coming back next month and things aren't going well for Maddox, I think you should consider being general manager."
"I think we'll worry about that when the time comes."
"I agree. Keep me informed on how you're handling things this month though. Since you're working again, I want to know how things go."
"I will."
I watch from guerilla as Randy is competing in his Money in the Bank ladder match. Rob Van Dam is reaching for the briefcase when Randy pulls him off the ladder and hits RVD with the RKO. Randy climbs the ladder and pulls down the briefcase to win the Money in the Bank ladder match and the right to cash in for a WWE Championship match whenever he chooses.
"The winner of this match, Randy Orton!" Justin Roberts announces.
I smile with joy as I watch the screen. I knew this was a huge win for Randy, and I was ecstatic for him. I would've loved to have been ringside for that honestly, but due to the circumstances, I couldn't.
Randy made it backstage, and my dad smiled at Randy and said something to him. Randy gave Vince an appreciative look. I make my way over to Randy. Randy pulls me into his arms.
"You better be calling yourself Mrs. Money in the Bank now, Marissa." Randy comments before kissing my forehead.
"Of course. Whatever you want me to call myself, Randal." I reply as we walk out of guerilla together. "Congratulations, handsome. I really mean it. I know this was huge for you."
"It was huge. It was amazing. It was almost perfect. I honestly think the only thing missing was you being there with me. I mean you were obviously in guerilla, but you weren't at ringside."
"Yeah, I wasn't. I actually need to talk to you a bit when we get to your locker-room."
"Sounds like it's serious. Did something bad happen?" Randy asks as we turn down a hallway.
"No, not at all. It's just an important conversation, and it's time to have that conversation."
"Okay, I'm just hoping it's nothing bad."
"It shouldn't be."
"Well, that's good at least."
"Yeah."
Randy and I find his locker-room, and he opens the door. I walk straight in. Randy follows and closes and locks the door behind us.
"Do I need to sit down for this conversation or can I get started on changing out of my gear?" Randy asks.
"I can talk while you change." I tell Randy as I sit on the couch.
"Alright. What's going on?"
"What if I didn't wait until October to come back to work full time?"
Randy turns to look at me. "Did Vince ask you to come back sooner than October?"
"No, actually, I've been thinking about it."
"Would you be allowed to come back sooner?"
"Yes, I asked if that was a possibility, but no one is making me."
"Confronting AJ last month really got you thinking about all that, didn't it?"
"Honestly, yes. I thought I was so set on taking as much time at home as I can, but then, I went out there and got into with AJ. The crowd was cheering so loudly, and I hadn't experienced that in so long. It brought me back to how things were before my pregnancy."
"I get that. You were the biggest star in the Divas Division by a large margin. You were adored by all the fans. Not having that for as long as it's been must've felt weird. Have you been thinking about this for a month?"
"Yes, I have."
"You could've told me sooner. I would've understood."
"I know. I just kept telling myself that it wasn't right. I should be just staying home with the baby as long as I can."
"You don't have to be right with him 24/7, Rissa. You do know that, right? I mean if you're wanting to come back soon, we need to make a plan for him as soon as we can."
"That's actually another thing I wanted to discuss. How would you feel about having the baby travel with us at least if the shows are in the United States?"
Randy finished changing and raised an eyebrow. "You want the baby to travel with us?"
"I think it'd be good for us. He sleeps through the nights now. We'd still be bonding with him. We won't be able to do this when he gets to the age where he has school."
"Do you think he'll take well to all the travel we do?"
"It wouldn't hurt to try and see."
"How soon did Vince say that you could come back full time?"
"SummerSlam at the earliest. It's still not a certain decision. I may not even come back early."
"We can bring the baby to SummerSlam through the SmackDown filming after SummerSlam. If he doesn't have many issues, I'll agree to him traveling with us. I just want to have a trial run first."
"Okay, I'll agree to that. Would you be okay with me coming back early?"
"As long as you can handle it, I'm fine with that. At the end of the day, it's your decision to make."
"If I'm on TV, I'll be your manager. It'll affect you."
"It's still your decision. I'll go along with either decision. This is about what you want. It's not about what Vince wants. It's not about what I want. It's about you, Rissa."
"So you don't have any issues if I come back early?"
"Not at all. Just keep me informed about what's going on."
"I will."
