Coven Fairy
"Oh, I don't think I can do this." Luz said, feeling nervous as she stood behind the curtain of the stage.
"You can do this Luz." Kali said. "I passed my audition, and I know you will be able too as well."
"She's right kid. Bump's allowing you to use your staff. Now get going." Eda smiled.
"Right… I can do this, I can do this." Luz said, before heading out on the stage.
"You really think she's gonna be able to pull this off?" Eda asked as Luz began her audition.
"Not a clue." Kali said.
"Whaa." Luz cried out as she fumbled on the stag, and fell down the side, only to be caught by an icicle and hung by her belt in front of Bump. "I failed, didn't I?" The human girl asked.
"Believe it or not I've seen worse performances. An' for a human, that actually wasn't bad." Bump said, dropping a letter of acceptance on her head. "Welcome Luz, to Hexside, School of Magic and Demonics."
"Yes." Luz cheered, before the icicle broke, and she landed on her face. "Ow."
"Well, at least she passed." Kali said with a hiss, as she did not like how Luz landed on her face. "Maybe I'll take her to get some ice cream on the way home, after paying a visit to the Healing Coven. That looked like it hurt bad."
"Good idea. It looks like she might have broken her nose with that landing." Eda said.
~Hexside First Day New Semester~
"Mmm, we gotta go back." Luz said, riding on Owlbert with Kali, while Sapphire rested in her bag, while both of them, were wearing blank canvas white uniforms. "This was a mistake. I'm gonna mess thing's up again, and everyone will see and…"
"Luz, calm down." Kali said. "Remember what I taught you?"
Luz nodded before she took in a deep breath, and whistled out a tune, sounding vaguely like the first few notes, to Lugia's song.
"I feel better." Luz said.
"I know you're nervous about starting at a new school. I'm just as nervous bringing Sapphire to our first day of school, but she's in the possessive stage of her emotional roller coaster of pregnancy, and won't leave me alone for five minutes." Kali said.
"Kali."
"Right, right. Point is Luz, you're gonna do great. Bump's allowed you to do magic with your staff during classes, so you will be able to pass." Kali stated. "Besides, what do you gotta be nervous about, you've been to school before."
"That's why I'm nervous." Luz said. "At my human school, I didn't make a good first impression. This is a chance to be seen as something other then a screw up."
"Hey, don't worry about what any of them think. Just be yourself. Who cares if you make a good first impression or not, you're gonna do great no matter what you do." Kali said.
"Thanks Kali." Luz smiled. "What advice do you think Eda would have given us?"
"Probably to walk into class, and punch the first kids we see to establish dominance." Kali said as they reached the school and landed. "It might be known as a Prison for Kids, but we there's no real reason we gotta treat school as such."
"Yeah, that definitely sounds like her." Luz smiled, hopping off.
"Oh, before you grab your bag Luz." Kali said, reaching into the humans bag, and pulling King out.
"Weh?" King cried out.
"What are you doing here King?" Kali asked.
"Come on, you're a free ride to the greatest buffet in town." King said.
"The school garbage's are unsanitary, and disgusting. I'll make you some food when we get home, but until then you're gonna be taking Owlbert home. I'm not comfortable with sending him off alone, with Belos hunting Palismen like wild game." Kali said hopping down from Owlbert's staff.
"Why didn't you just fly with Sapphire?" King asked as Kali set him down on the Owl Palisman's staff.
"Because she's too far along in her pregnancy." Kali said. "She's gotta be careful, otherwise she'll miscarry."
"An' that means…?" King asked.
"The babies could die before they're even born." Luz said.
"Alright, understood." King said. "I shall return to the Owl House with Eda's staff."
With that he took off, leaving Kali and Luz to embrace their actual first day at Hexside.
"Luz, Kali." The duo looked over to see Amity walking over, with an Abomination holding the same number of books as her, and even mimicking her movements. Kali looked down to see the forearms of her uniform were the same color blue as the Healing Coven "Congrats on getting in, and not being in the baby class."
"Thanks Amity. Up top." Luz said, holding up her hand.
After receiving a high-five from Amity, Luz was pulled to the side, narrowly avoiding the Abomination's hand hitting her face.
"Close one." Kali said.
"So, how's Sapphire doing?" Amity asked.
"She's doing good, but she's in the possessive phase of her pregnancy. So she's sticking close to me, no matter what I do, even when I'm needing my personal alone time." Kali said. "Bat Queen says it's natural, so I'm just letting it run its course."
"Well, I'm sure it'll pass." Amity said, heading off. "See you later."
"See ya Amity." Kali said. "Alright Luz, let's see go see Principal Bump."
"Right behind ya." Luz said, before Sapphire jumped to her shoulder. "Guess she's being possessive of me now."
Heading through the halls of the school, Luz and Kali made their way to Bumps office, hopefully they'd get what tracks they'd want.
"Hey Kali. Why does your uniform look so different from everyone else's?" Luz asked.
Luz wasn't far off the mark. Apart from the general color scheme of the new uniforms, Kali's was very different. Her midriff was bare, with the top being a long sleeved crop-top, with a the cowl, and a key hole in the center of the shirt, showing off some cleavage. She wore the normal pants like tights, with a small waist cloak that didn't even reach her knees, but was open in the front. The gem Eda gave her to monitor her magic, had the addition of bat wings, becoming a bat winged broach on her chest.
"I made a deal with bump." Kali said. "If I agreed to pay for the repairs to the damages Mewls escape attempts from Detention caused, I'd be able to have a custom made uniform anyway I want."
"Mewl. Isn't he the guy who tried usurping Gus's position in his club?" Luz asked.
"He's also the one who sexually harassed me, before I disproved his claims to having actual human artifacts." Kali said as they reached Bumps office.
"How can you afford to make that deal?" Luz asked.
"Simple, the gold coins I got from the Bat Queen, are worth like 500,000 Snails per coin. An' she has caverns full of this gold. So I just gave him one of the coins and it was a done deal." Kali explained as they went into Bumps office. "Morning Principal Bump."
"Morning Kali, Luz." Bump said. "So before we decide on which tracks you'll partake in, I have something I need to discuss with you."
"Oh boy."
"You chose a pretty bad time to bring your Palisman to school." Bump said. "Today we'll be visited by the Emperor's Coven, for a routine inspection. They've already been notified to the changes made to the classes and which tracks the students take, due to Kali's idea. So if you want to impress them, you'll need to join a single Coven Track before they arrive."
"A single track?"
"You're both new students here. So until we can figure out which tracks would best suit you for trying out, you'll be settled into one." Bump stated.
"But, can't we just tell you which ones we wanna join?" Kali asked.
"No. We still have to gather data on you before we can do that, and see if you'd be a right fit for it." Bump said. "You do not want to embarrass me in front of the inspector. Neither of you do."
"But all the tracks are so cool. Is there some sort of enchanted article of clothing that could sort this out for me?" Luz asked.
"Well there used to be, but… it got fed up with its job, and just began eating the souls and bodies of the students who wore it. Thankfully no one was killed, but the students who wore it, all graduated traumatized, and or missing a limb or two as well as part of their souls."
"Yikes." Kali said. "Please tell me you destroyed it."
"Unfortunately no. School board said to keep it contained, until it could be useful again." Bump said, getting up from his desk.
"I don't know if I could choose just one track." Luz said.
"Then I'll pick one for you." Bump stated. "Eeny-meeny-miny-moe." He counted off, stopping on the Potions Track. "Ah, perfect. The Potions track seems like a suitable track for you. You humans are filled with liquids, right?" He asked as he changed Luz's white uniform to the Potions Track colors. "What about you Kali?"
"If I have to pick just one, put me in the Healing Track." Kali sighed, before her uniform changed to the Healing Tracks colors. "I'd rather be in that, as well as the Beast Keeping, and Bard tracks, but oh well."
"I expect you both to be on your best behavior. Based on the costly repairs due to some recent incidents, we could really use a donation from the Emperor's Coven." Bump explained. "Now off to class."
"Wait hold on." Kali said, before she and Luz were sent out of the office, and the door closed on them. "Damn it." She hissed, before hearing a scream outside. "That must be the hat he was talking about." She said, looking out the window to see a student running around with a flesh eating hat devouring its head.
~Healing Track Class~
"Welcome to a new semester students. Today, we'll be learning how to do stitches, with your magic being the hand that holds the needle." The Teacher said.
"Well, I did want this as part of my track course." Kali said, before looking around, and seeing a couple of students who had multi colored uniforms. But she was surprised at who sat down beside her. "Amity?"
"Hey Kali. What, chose to go for a single track, huh?" Amity asked.
"Not really. Bump had Luz and I pick on track each, until he could figure out which ones we were best suited for." Kali said, petting Sapphire on the head. "What about you? Why choose to Healing Track? You're a natural at the Abomination Track, so why switch it up?"
"My mom's a control freak. So I figured going for a Track I'd actually want to be in, would be a good start at rebelling against her." Amity smiled, using her magic to sew stitches into the piece of leather in front of her. "What about Luz, what's she in?"
"Bump put her in the Potions Track, since she couldn't decide on her own." Kali explained.
"Well, she does like mixing stuff, right?"
"Yeah, she does." Kali said. "It's just so frustrating, I'm the one who gave Bump the idea for the multiple tracks course, but he's sticking me with just one."
"What Tracks did you wanna join?" Amity asked.
"I wanted to join this one, as well as the Bard and Beast Keeping tracks." Kali sighed. "But he doesn't want Luz or I to make him look like a fool when an inspector from the Emperor's Coven comes today."
"I never heard anything about an inspector coming." Amity said.
"Not surprising. Bump probably wanted to keep it, hush-hush, from the students so they wouldn't start acting like this place is a miniature Conformatorium." Kali said. "Either way, this sucks, big time."
~After Class~
"Alright, next on the schedule is…" Kali stopped as she looked at her schedule, before her head popped up, hearing the sound of Luz's voice echo in the halls.
"But I wasn't studying other subjects." Luz said, as Bump was dragging her down the hall.
"What's going on?"
"Kali help. I was curious about how a crystal ball for the Oracle Track worked and Principal Bump thinks I was studying another subject." Luz said as she was dragged away. "An' I can't use a Fog Brew to get out, because I'm pretty sure it won't work."
"Principal Bump, wait." Kali said, chasing after them.
Running after Bump and Luz, Kali stopped when they stopped in front of the doors, leading to a mostly empty classroom, with three other students, and one teacher, present in it. With the addition of Luz, the number went up to four students.
"What is this place?" Luz asked.
"This is a place where all troublemakers go." Bump said, changing the yellow of Luz's uniform, to a dark gray. "The Detention Track."
"Principal Bump, you can't put Luz in here, just because she was curious." Kali said.
"I'm sorry Ms. Clawthorne, but I've made up my mind." Bump said.
"Fine." Kali said, marching into the room. "If Luz stays, then I'm in the Detention Track as well."
"Kali no." Luz said.
"Hey, it's fine. I don't make a living on the Boiling Isles, and I have more time, but you don't. So I'm not gonna leave you here alone, when you shouldn't be here." Kali said, as her uniform was switched to the Detention Tracks color.
"Very well. You've made your choice, so now you must live with it." Bump stated as he began to leave. "Perhaps, you may try for a new track next year."
"I'm sorry you lost your place in school to help me." Luz said, as she and Kali took their seats.
"It's fine. Besides, Detention Track isn't all that bad. You don't gotta do any lessons, so you're free to do whatever you want, so long as it's not disrupting." Kali said as Sapphire laid down on the desk in front of her.
"I guess that's a bonus." Luz said.
"Oh my gosh. Is that a dragon?" The only other girl in the Detention Track, with a fish hook for an earring asked coming over, her eyes on Sapphire as she gasped in delight.
"Her name's Sapphire. She's my Palisman." Kali said.
"You already have a Palisman?" The girl asked. "I'm Viney by the way."
"I'm Kali. This is… hey, where'd Luz go?" She questioned, before spotting Luz over by the barred windows.
"Hey, keep quiet, or do you wanna scrub the classroom again?" The teacher asked.
Kali just looked at the teacher with an unamused expression, and drew a circle in the air with her magic, and with a poof of blue magic, the teacher was asleep.
"There, now he won't bother us for the rest of the day, and he'll suffer when trying to get to sleep tonight." Kali smirked.
"Whoa, you used an advanced sleep spell on the teacher." Viney said.
"Not really. It's a pretty basic spell where I come from. Its effects are just amplified when used with my Wild Magic." Kali said.
"Nice trick." The boy said, as he and the demon dog came to chat with them. "But just to be safe, let's head to somewhere, a bit more private."
"Luz." Kali called to the human girl.
"Coming." Luz said.
Viney smiled, and went to the chalkboard, before grabbing a piece of chalk, and drew a square with a key hole in it. Using the chalk as a key, Luz and Kali gasped, when that segment of the chalk board opened up to reveal a secret passage. The only boys in the class went through the passage first, with Viney, Luz, and Kali following close behind, before the door closed behind her.
"What is this place?" Luz asked.
"I think I remember Eda telling me about something like this she used to sneak into class when she was late." Kali said looking around.
"Follow me, I wanna show you something." Viney said, leading them to a door that had a sign that said, keep out, hanging from the front of it. "You're both one of us troublemakers now, so you get special access to, the secret room of shortcuts."
"Whoa, so cool." Luz gasped.
"Where'd the other two go?" Kali asked.
"Hey Jerbo, Barcus." Viney called out. "You can stop hiding now!"
"How do we know they're cool, man? How do we know they won't turn us in?" Jerbo asked, popping out of a door.
"Did you see what she did to the teacher?" Viney asked. "Besides, it was your idea to bring them here."
"Good point." Jerbo said. "What do you think Barcus?"
"Bark-Bark: Her aura is strong, and silly, like a baby's laughter." Barcus said, looking at Luz. "While your aura is fierce and powerful, like a warriors."
"What'd he say?" Luz asked.
"You're strong and lovable; I'm fierce and not to be trifled with." Kali abridged. "An' I'm paraphrasing here."
"Welcome." Jerbo greeted.
"Ah, I love secret rooms." Luz said cheerfully hopping over to one of the doors. "Where do the doors go?"
"Let's find out." Kali said, poking her head out the door with Luz, to find Amity pacing the halls and talking to herself.
"So you two go to the same school now, that doesn't change anything." Amity said.
"Wow, either she's crushing hard on someone, or she's got some things to deal with." Luz said after they pulled their heads back in and the door shut.
"Gee, I wonder which it is." Kali said, sarcastically while looking at Luz expectantly.
"I guess we'll never know." Luz said, only for Kali to groan and facepalm herself.
"This place connects to different parts of the school." Viney explained. "We found it after being thrown in the Detention Track. The witch who made it is known as… Lord Calamity." She said, directing them to a picture covered in graffiti.
"Hold the phone." Kali said, walking up to the painting.
Using a cleaning spell on the graffiti, Kali laughed and smiled, when she saw the painting was of Eda in her younger years.
"No way." Kali smirked, Sapphire purring.
"It's Eda." Luz smiled. "Your grandmother is really cool, to have made a place like this."
"I know right? Eda really is kinda awesome." Kali smiled.
"They started this troublemaker wall, and we added our names, in their honor." Jerbo said.
"This place is amazing." Luz said. "I bet you guys can get into so much trouble in here."
"Sure we can, but we can also do so much more." Viney said, pointing them to Barcus, who was paying attention to an oracle class, with Luz and Kali joining in.
"Remember, seeing the end of a life, is the beginning of reading a fortune." The Oracle Teacher instructed as she constructed a cootie catcher. "We have to work backwards from it, to see the truth."
"A cootie catcher?" Kali asked.
"That's just a kids game from the human realm." Luz said.
"We're not allowed to study any kind of magic, so we study every kind of magic, in secret." Viney said.
"You actually like school?" Luz asked.
"What's not to like about it?" Kali inquired. "School can be fun, it's all about how you perceive it."
"Yeah well, we maybe liked it a bit too much." Viney said sheepishly. "Thing is, we all got into trouble, before the whole inter track trial thing Bump started up. So we're still here, even after the actual Detention room was destroyed."
"I tried mixing plant magic, with abominations." Jerbo stated. "Bump was not thrilled."
"What'd Barcus do?"
"He mixed potions, with oracle magic." Jerbo said. "Bump wasn't too thrilled with that one either."
"Mixing Healing and Beast Keeping, was slightly unconventional." Viney said. "But puddles was a great assistant damn it."
"No kidding?" Kali asked. "I'm wanting to do Beast Keeping, Healing, and Bard."
"An' I just can't decide which one I wanna be in."
"No way." Viney smiled. "We all wanna be in more then one Coven Track, but Bump just says we need to focus."
"Sounds like Bumps priorities are out of whack, and that he needs to give you three a shot at the tracks you wanna try out." Kali said. "I'm the one who gave him that idea damn it, and I only ended up in one track because his priorities were too focused on getting a donation from the Emperor's Coven Investigator."
"I'm glad you're one of us." Viney said. "You've both made a great first impression. Wanna add your names to the troublemaker wall?"
"I'm gonna do more then add my name." Kali said, using magic to make a shelf, and put one of her normal carvings on it. "That's my signature."
"Snap no way. You made this?" Viney asked, looking at the carving.
"Yep, I even carved Sapphire as well." Kali smiled, scratching the Palisman under her chin. "But right now, she's supposed to be taking it easy."
"Oh, wait. Is she going through a Palisman Pregnancy?" Viney inquired, getting excited and on her knees.
"Yep. She's currently in the possessive phase of it, but that's nothing I can't handle." Kali said. "Wanna feel?"
"Do I?"
Sapphire jumped onto Vineys lap, and laid on her side, showing her belly to Viney, before the witchlet put her hand on the Palisman's belly, and she gasped, feeling movement from within.
"Oh my gosh. I felt kicks. How many is she having?" Viney asked with excitement.
"She's having twins. An' they're both quite active in there." Kali said. "Sapphire's a good judge of character, which is why she was trusting of you, and allowed you to touch her belly."
"Aw, I'm glad you trust me." Viney said cutely as Sapphire purred.
"Luz, Kali." Willows voice echoed from the classroom. "We've come to get you out of this horrible class."
"Luz, what did you say to Willow, and when?" Kali asked.
"I didn't say the class was horrible, I just said I was miserable being unable to study magic." Luz said. "An' that I felt bad for getting you locked in the Detention Track with me."
"Luz." Kali groaned.
~Willow and Gus~
"Man, this guy can sleep through anything." Gus said, pulling on the teacher's mustache. "I'm gonna put that theory to the test." He stated, pulling a wet mop from out of nowhere.
"No. We have to find Luz, and Kali." Willow said before putting her hand on the chalkboard where the door had been drawn. "If only these walls could talk."
"Hey guys." Luz said glumly, as the door opened and her head popped out, before Kali pushed her the rest of the way out, and crawled through herself.
"Thank you walls." Willow said.
"Nice going Luz. We made some new friends here at school, and you blew it before we could even make an actual connection." Kali huffed.
"I know, I'm sorry. I messed up." Luz sighed.
"We found a way to get you out to talk to Principal Bump." Willow said.
"We've got an expert disguise. It's got holes for your gangly teenage legs." Gus said, pulling a trashcan out from around the doorway, and showing the bottom for her.
Luz looked back to the door in the chalkboard and winced when it was slammed, but not before Kali's carving was thrown out and broke in half on the ground.
"Yeah, that's right where I belong." Luz sighed.
"An' this way, the inspector won't see you either." Gus said, lifting the lid, allowing for Luz to hop in.
"I'll use my Illusion Magic, to make my disguise." Kali said, disguising herself as an Abomination Cauldron.
Making their way through the halls of Hexside, Kali was still miffed, and Luz was disappointed in herself, before the Clawthorne girl stopped, and sniffed the air.
"Has the inspector come yet?" Kali asked, undoing her illusion.
"Yeah, she arrived fifteen minutes ago, and is in the auditorium with Bump, watching demonstrations from the best students of each track." Willow said. "Why?"
"I just caught a whiff of something, a predator I played cat and mouse with in the forest, before I found myself in the Bat Queens forest." Kali said.
"Who was the cat and mouse?" Luz asked in concern.
"Let's just say, I had to stay on my guard at all times, until the Bat Queen drove her away." Kali stated, before she put Sapphire in Luz's arms, and began running down the halls.
"That's bad."
Drawing a magic circle in the air, Kali's school uniform was switched out with armor woven from Palisman silk. The armor consisted of a pair of gold trimmed red skinny jeans, with combat heels, gold trimmed black stretchy fabric based elbow guards, with black knuckled gloves with a metal plate on the back of each hand, connected to armored forearm bracers, and a black leather vest connected to a gold trimmed red breast band, making her chest pop.
"That's definitely not good." Luz said.
"What is she wearing?" Gus asked.
"Armor. Strong enough to put the best smiths in the Emperor's Coven, to shame." Luz stated, as they went running after her.
Making a sharp turn, Kali stopped in front of the doors to the auditorium, and slammed them open, just as Amity was finishing up her performance.
"Kali?" Amity asked.
"Ms. Clawthorne, what are you doing out of the Detention Room, and what are you wearing?" Bump asked.
"Oh, is this one of your more, rowdy students?" The 'inspector' asked.
"It's her first day. I'm sure she's just."
"Principal Bump." Kali began. "Step away from her. She's not an inspector."
"Kali, what are you talking about?" Amity asked.
"Oh well, looks like the jig is up." The false inspector said, before her body began to grow, and became more serpent like.
"What? But that's impossible. Greater Basilisks went extinct centuries ago." Bump said, running on stage with the rest of the students, to defend them.
"Glandys' magic was delicious, but I'm certain that Hexside's magic will…"
Before the Basilisk could finish her statement, Kali instantly dropped to one knee, and slamming her hands on the ground, vanished from sight, while creating a massive wind force, and hitting the Basilisk in the face.
"I'm sure you remember me now bitch." Kali growled. "The poor, helpless girl you hunted down until I was granted shelter by the Bat Queen."
"You… you're the prey that got away."
"An' I'm the Dragon, who's gonna kick your ass." Kali growled, slamming her foot on the Basilisk's head with an axe kick. "Principal Bump, once I beat this thing, there's something I need you to do for me."
"Anything, just make sure that thing doesn't hurt any of my students." Bump said.
"You, I will devour your magic, and your soul." The Basilisk growled, picking itself up with pain evident on its head.
"Not today you won't." Kali stated, flipping through the air, and landing on the Basilisks stomach. "When you first began hunting me, I had zero clue on the first rule of controlling my Wild Magic was. But now that I've had some practice, you can't even touch me."
Jumping off the Basilisk, Kali stomped on its tail, causing it to cry out before giving chase to the Clawthorne teen.
"Luz, Gus, Willow, find Viney, Barcus, and Jerbo. Get them to help." Kali said, running towards them, with the Basilisk on her tail.
"What the heck is that thing?" Gus questioned.
"The predator I was telling you about. Now go!" Kali called out. "An' don't let her get her hands on Sapphire."
"On it." Luz said, pulling Gus and Willow away, towards the secret entrance she and Kali had poked their heads out through earlier.
Running through the halls, Kali pulled out several pieces of paper from her pocket, all of them having the light glyph on them.
"Since using magic from my body feeds her, let's see how she likes this." Kali said, crushing the glyphs together, before throwing the crumpled paper to the Basilisk, as she chomped down on it.
"Aah, it burns." The Basilisk cried, spitting out the paper spell.
"I haven't tried this glyph yet. Luz said she found it when she went on that trip to the knee with Eda after getting back from the Harvest Festival, so let's see what it can do." Kali cried out, slamming her hand, and a sheet of paper down on the ground, sending a spear of ice at the basilisk, and pushing it back. "Huh, Grey would be so proud."
"Kali, we're ready. Whatever you're doing, do it now." Luz called out.
"Here goes." Kali said, charging at the basilisk. "Hey ugly."
"You shall pay for that pain." The Basilisk said swiping her tail at her.
"Really? Because here's what I think." Kali stated, ducking under the tail, and jumping back to gain some distance. "You should have stayed extinct."
Holding up her arms like a shield, Kali was send flying back into a wall, and cried out in pain when the Basilisk pinned her there, one of her claws scratching her cheek and taking a chunk out of her right ear.
"Now, I'll feast on not just your magic, but your flesh as well." The Basilisk stated.
"Puddles, now." Viney called out.
From out of nowhere, a Griffin cub barely bigger then a Shetland Pony, came charging at Kali and the Basilisk, a smile on its happy face, as it grabbed the Basilisk by its tail and dragged it away from Kali, as if playing a game.
"Good girl Puddles." Kali groaned, using a healing spell on her wounds, leaving scars.
"You doing okay Kali?" Viney asked. "Luz told us what's happening."
"I'll be fine. Where are Jerbo and Barcus?" Kali asked.
"They're in position. Push the Basilisk towards that secret entrance." Viney said, pointing to where the Basilisk was being dragged, before she slashed and the griffin dragging her. "Puddles."
"I'm on it." Kali said, using lightning magic to charge at the Basilisk as it picked itself up. "Hey freak show. It ends now." She stated, slamming into the Basilisk.
Forcing the magic devouring beast back, Kali pushed it through the secret entrance Viney pointed out, and into the secret room. The entrance leading to it was on the ceiling, and down bellow, just as the Basilisk began to fall, Jerbo opened the door with plant magic, and used an abomination to keep himself and the others shielded. The Basilisk found itself wedged in the door, before Kali came down and stomped on its stomach, forcing it through the door, and finding the both of them back in the auditorium, and on the stage.
"You brought it back here?" Bump questioned.
"Not my plan, but I'm rolling with it." Kali said, as she jumped off the Basilisk, before Barcus took its hand and poured a potion on it, and began barking with his eyes glowing purple.
"What is he doing? What is he saying?" The Basilisk questioned.
"He's reading your fortune, and it's looking bleak." Luz stated, before signaling behind Kali.
Kali looked behind her, and smiled when she saw Puddles, cutting a rope holding sandbags, held by an abomination made of potted plant soil. The sandbags that were held in the air, dropped hard and fast, slamming down on its stomach, the force of pressure being the final straw as it vomited up all the magic it had stolen from other schools and mages across the isles, and was left weakened on the stage.
"Great job everyone." Kali smiled, using a healing spell on Puddles, and getting a lick and nuzzle from the griffin in return. "Aw, you're such a good girl."
"Yes, we saved the school." Luz cheered.
"That was amazing." Jerbo said.
"We totally defeated a Greater Basilisk." Viney said, hugging Puddles.
"Bark-bark."
"Ahem." Bump said, getting their attention. "I take it, this means I have to pay your favor back now?"
"That would be accurate." Kali said, returning her clothes to her school uniform.
"Very well. What is it you want?" Bump asked.
"I want you to let everyone in the Detention Track, attend their desired tracks, myself included." Kali stated.
"If that is all you want, then I'm happy to oblige." Bump said. "I'm wise enough to know when I made a mistake. So, what tracks would you all like to join?"
"Abomination and Plant." Jerbo said.
"Healing and Beast Keeping." Viney said.
"Bark."
"Alright, I should have guessed." Bump smiled, changing their uniforms to the colors of the tracks. "What about you Luz, Kali?"
"I still can't decide." Luz said, before her uniform began to light up, and she had the colors of eight different tracks on her uniform. "Awesome, I'm gonna be learning it all."
"An' you Kali?" Bump asked.
"I wanna go into Beast Keeping, Healing, and Bard." Kali said.
"Ah very good." Bump said.
Kali smiled as the colors of her uniform changed, and she had the colors of the Healing Track on her Forearms, Beast Keeping on her upper arms, and Bard on her legs.
"You know, I was gonna extend the offer of this program to those who were in the Detention Track longer then you, after the Investigator was finished at Hexside, but now I see that I should have done so as soon as it was implemented, but I think it's time for another change. Therefore, from this day onward, no one will have to choose a single track to study anymore. All students, are free to study any magic they want, not limited to just a single track, and they won't have to choose from those they're testing either. They can study them until graduation." Bump stated.
"Just wait until Eda hears about this." Luz smiled.
"In the past, there was one other student, who wanted to study all the tracks, but sadly she never got the chance." Bump said, bringing Eda's painting out of the still open door to the secret hideout.
"I should have known." Luz said.
"That's totally something she'd do." Kali chuckled, Sapphire curling up on Puddles head.
