Chapter 10: Jealousy
Nothing can ever be simple. That was a thought that came to Shadow's mind whenever other pokemon were around. The particular reason this time was the sound of Blade yelling and shouting and a feminine laugh. Whatever Crystal had done seemed to infuriate Blade, and Shadow had more than a few suspicions as to what it was the sableye had done. Not like he didn't know, she was obvious in her body language as was Blade, but something wasn't right about his little sneasel. He wasn't just directing his anger at Crystal, but also at Shadow. Blade stormed out without saying another word to either pokemon. The darkrai watched as his dearest stormed away. Crystal walked behind him and hugged him "Now that that little wretch is gone, you and I can finally…." She was cut off as an unparalleled dark presence enveloped the room.
"Shadow? What's wrong bro?" Pyre asked, looking worried as he sat down, the very air growing heavy from the dark rage building within his friend.
"Unless you desire a one way ticket to the afterlife, I'd suggest you flee for your life immediately."
"Oh Shadow, always so" she was cut off again.
Shadow's voice seemed to grow darker as he looked down upon the sableye, his eye becoming an angry red color "Now!" The small ghost pokemon ran for her life out of the building.
"You….you weren't going to…actually kill her were you?"
"For what she did, yes"
"But she's just"
"A girl? Death comes for us all, it doesn't discriminate based on gender. Death is inevitable, I'm simply one to expedite that inevitability. If she has ruined my chances with Blade, she will wish for death long before I let her die." Pyre refrained from speaking further. Shadow was clearly upset and he killed for far less in the past. Shadow floated out of the building in search of the young sneasel.
*With Blade*
The ice type was curled into a ball beneath a tree hiding away from everyone else. To his misfortune ge was found rather quickly by the female ghost type. "Ha! What could Shadow possibly see in you? Running away like a coward from your problems." She received no reply from Blade and so continued speaking "you know he's only using you, another pawn in his little game of life. Ya know, he actually promised to be my mate not long ago."
"You're lying!" Blade yelled, jumping to his feet and extending his claws threateningly. Though considering he hadn't had a chance to recover from his previous battle he wasn't in any condition to fight again so soon.
"Come on, you don't honestly think you have a chance against me do you?" Crystal asked with a wide self-absorbed grin plastered over her face.
Blade responded in kind with a grin of his own "Well, yeah, even like this I'm pretty sure I can handle you." With that he jumped forward coating his claw in ice and taking a quick swipe at Crystal. The sableye dodged easily and retaliated with a fire punch. Blade ducked beneath the punch and swept Crystal's legs from under her.
Despite colliding with the ground hard the female got back up in seconds this time coating a claw in darkness "He should be mine, not yours! Why did he choose you over me!" She stabbed at Blade with her claws trying her hardest to impale him. His body felt like it was on fire. The toll his movement took on him was unbelievable. He was still battered and bruised from fighting Zoroark. The two continued swiping and attacking each other with neither giving up ground to the other. Truly it was impressive, Blade's body was already beyond its limit, and yet he was fighting like he had all the energy in the world. Needless to say if Blade wasn't still injured he would win the battle easily. As things stood however, he was beginning to lose ground. He was slowing down, the strain becoming too much on his body to continue and as he went to dodge another fire punch, he lost balance and fell straight into the attack knocking him into a tree. He slumped against the tree panting hard.
*With Shadow*
He searched for his young counterpart for nearly an hour. Then he heard it, Blade panting and laying against a tree with Crystal standing smugly overtop of him. "You think you're good enough for Shadow?" The sableye asked coldly "I'm way stronger than you could ever be and he doesn't love me!"
"Strength doesn't dictate love! Nor should it ever be the thing that holds a relationship together!" Blade yelled from his position against the tree.
"It's thinking like that, that's why Shadow loves me more than…." Once more she was cut off. This time held by the mouth against a different tree.
"You will never hold the key to my heart. That is entrusted to him, and you" Shadow's voice reached the peak of how dark and angry it could possibly become, taking on a deep rumble and seemingly overlapping his voice upon itself "I should end your life here and now however," he glanced at Blade "I will spare you this once, next time you pull a stunt like that, you will be destroyed on the spot." Crystal shuddered and writhed in terror. "I attempted passive aggression with you, I must be more direct it would seem. I do not reciprocate your feelings, the only emotion you evoke in me, is near hatred. Now more than ever, considering what you've done to MY Blade."
Blade blushed at the comment 'Am I really…his?'
"Sh-Shadow, please I-I am sor-ry" Crystal managed to choke out the words just before Shadow dropped her. "
Understand this, Crystal, to me your life holds no meaning, so go find someone that will bother to give you their time, and leave me alone forever." He looked down at her. The female gasped for air and stared up at Shadow an almost sweet look in her eyes. Shadow however was not having any of it "Act innocent, pretend to be a small helpless creature, my pity has run out, I saved your life Crystal, do not make me take that from you." She stood up and dashed away to escape the life threatening situation. Shadow kneeled in front of Blade. "Are you alri.."
Shadow was cut off this time. "She was lying right? You didn't promise to be her mate did you?" He asked, letting his head sink.
"Of course not, I do not make promises unless I intend to keep them." The darkrai wrapped his arms around his counterpart hugging him close. "That said, I promise that I will always love you, and nobody else. Now then let's get you back inside so you can rest properly, you look as though you're struggling to breathe."
