The Somnamulist Pair

Suddenly, Valerie and Alexander stood up, Josie and Alan noticed that both Alexander and Valerie had glazed looks in their eyes.

Alexander began singing to Valerie.

Alexander: Now that I've found you;

Hear what I have to say;

One song;

I have but one song;

One song;

Only for you;

One heart;

Tenderly beating;

Ever entreating;

Constant and true;

One love;

That has possessed me;

One love;

Thrilling me through;

One song;

My heart keeps singing;

Of one love;

Only for you.

"Val, Alex," Josie asked. "what's wrong? Are you in a trance or what?"

"It may seem that way," Alan said to the worried Josie. "but Val and Alex are actually somnamulists."

"What's a somnambulist, Alan?" Josie asked.

"A sleepwalker, my uncle is a sleepwalker." Alan answered Josie.

"I see." Josie said.

"What should we do? How should we wake them?" Alan asked Josie.

"I have an idea," Josie said to Alan. "Alexander and Valerie both love my dad's homemade sweets! And, as luck has it, I have three of his homemade brownies in my lunchbox!"

"But, Josie, your lunchbox is back in your cubby in your classroom," Alan protested. "there is no time to get it!"

"No problem, Alan, luckily, I have on my roller skate shoes, I'll be back in a jiffy!" Josie exclaimed, pulling out the wheels on her shoes.

Josie skated off and within seconds, she arrived back in her classroom.

Meanwhile, Alan was trying to keep Valerie and Alexander from wandering off as they continued sleepwalking, Alexandra, who quickly noticed an opportunity, moved closer to Alan.

"Oh, Alan, my brother is obviously not fit to play the prince, why don't you take over? You'd make a much better prince, oh, and while we're on the subject of changing roles, I should be Snow White, sounds like a plan, no?" Alexandra asked.

"'Sound like a plan, no' is right, and be serious, Alexandra. Just help me keep Alex and Valerie still until Josie gets back." Alan answered.

"Oh, please, Alan, the chances of Josie coming back in time are..." Alexandra began.

Josie entered the auditorium, "I'm back!" she called.

Josie pulled out two of her dad's homemade brownies from her lunchbox and held them up in front of Alexander and Valerie.

Upon smelling the delicious aroma, the two instantly woke up from their sleep.

"Brownies?" Alexander and Valerie asked in unison.

"Yay, Josie!" all the children cheered.

"Way to go, Josie! Nothing against Val, but it's too bad you didn't get the star role, you'd make a great Snow White." Alan said.

"And you'd make a great prince, Alan." Josie said, she was really flattered.

"Aw, thanks." Alan said to Josie, blushing slightly.

"Oh, brother! How corny can you get?" Alexandra asked, clearly, she was disgusted by the tender scene.
