All the song for you~
(Chapter 10)
Tyson and Kane were seated on center, surrounded by Kai and Tala on Kane's side and Max, Ray and Zeo on Tyson's side.
When Tyson was a kid, he was closest to Max, when they reached high-school, Kai was his constant companion who understood him and Tyson trusted him the most, when they entered University, Tyson got more along with Kane, having similar thoughts, feelings on life and things. But still Tyson always made sure he spend time with everyone and took care of them. They were his best friends, who were always with him, cared for him, made him smile, laugh, carried his shit when he sulked and always took care that his past never let him think he is inferior.
Mr. Dickenson walked up onto the stage and cleared his throat. A bunch of students from the council were holding trophies and medals,
"Wait a second, the trophies are for sports, right?" Tyson perked up,
"Absolutely!" Zeo grinned,
"That means we get one!" Tyson cheered,
"We get one too," Kane smiled at Kai and Tala.
Tyson and his team from his batch has won football match while Kai's team won basketball.
"Too bad there isn't any singing competition! We should be performing in stadiums ya know!" Kane bragged,
"Exactly!" Tyson hi-fived,
Shortly, as the trophies were distributed for table tennis, throw ball and carroms; football and basketball winners were announced and Tyson and Kai with respective teams, walked up excitedly on the stage and claimed their trophy. Tyson's happiness was soaring. He caught a glimpse of Hilary who was cheering him, clapping hard. He smiled at her before walking down.
"Our gals must be proud of us!" Ray laughed,
"I was thinking the same!" Max piped in,
"Okay, now comes the boring part, disaster actually. Medals for academics. This constantly and painfully reminds me of how our internal exams are approaching faster!" Tyson rolled his eyes and sighed in annoyance.
"I'll get you the important tonight, you'll need it." Kai offered,
"Thanks! Hiro barely has time these days," Tyson huffed.
One by one, names were called up, and each student jauntily took the medal and flashed grins at the audience as the pictures clicked.
"I wish I could get one too!" Tyson lazily remarked,
"Wish granted." Kai and Zeo said in unison.
"What?" They looked at the duo in utter shock.
"Okay. Kai, I believe that you don't joke. Are you serious?" Kane blinked,
"We are not kidding," Zeo said sharply, "Tyson got highest in Physiology."
"What?" Tyson shook, pointing to himself in utter disbelief, "Me?"
"Yeah. C'mon go up now. Next is you." Kai said.
"Tyson Granger, Topper of Physiology, in 1st year." Mr. Dickenson called out. Tyson smiled half nervously, half excitedly and practically ran to take his rightful medal, flashing it in air with the red sling loosely bound round his neck. His friends clicked his pictures, posting on their ig accounts even before Tyson gotta chance to see them.
He laughed almost for a minute after coming back, "Damn, like is this a dream? I just don't believe it!"
"If you're not able to, I'll take it up." Max teased. Tyson laughed more.
"Okay guys, I think it's time for the dance shows," Ray bit on his French fries. Kai passed the snacks from the packet to rest of them.
"Wow, this is exciting!" Zeo and Tyson said,
Tyson watched excitedly as the crew of 3rd years, a mix of girls and guys pulled out a fleek dance show on song, "Young blood,"
"Tyson?" A soft voice called her from behind. Given the disastrous mayhem of cheers and music, he had hardly heard her but when she called him again, he turned and looked at the shoulder.
"Hilary…" he blinked at her. She shyly handed him a packet which was floral printed and large. He took it, given how nervous, happy and yet coy she looked.
"Congratulations!" She wished him. All his friends had now turned back to look at Hilary. She was blocking the view of the seaters behind but she had to.
"Aww!" His friends, minus Kai waggishly cheered,
"She deserves a treat from you!" Kane smiled,
"A kiss to add!" Tala cleared his throat, chortling. Hilary gasped but quickly barrelled out of the way towards her seat.
"I gave her that already," Tyson calmly smirked at Tala,
They gasped loudly, "Seriously?"
"Yeah, okay that's little private for now. Please?" He pleaded.
They smirked but nodded at him.
When the dances ended, the students rushed towards the cafeteria and for cokes that there distributed near counters. Hilary had went to restroom. Hikari was punching some guy. Before Kai got up to sort out the matter, she was already done, peacefully drinking her orange juice.
"Okay, now open up that pack!" Max winked,
"Uhm, yea." Tyson looked at the packet and slowly rummaged through it's contents. It contained a big light pink card with 'Congratulations' written in glittered calligraphy, a big collage of his pictures on the backside of the card.
"Did Hilary knew I would be getting the trophy?" He asked to himself,
"I guess so," Zeo nodded,
He looked at his pictures. All of them were posted on his ig page.
"There's a box here," he pulled it out. It was a large Ferro rocher's chocolate box, with a red ribbon. Fresh and new. Totally delicious.
"This girl is as rich as Kai!" Kane laughed. Tyson cracked at the joke, "You bet!"
"Alright, we know it's your gift, so we are not gonna torture you to share it," Ray teased,
"But I'll share with you all." He tore the wrapper and stuffed chocolate spheres in all of their mouths including his, saving few chocolates aside.
"Hey guys, I'll be just back," he handed the packet which contained his precious card to Kai, trusting him. Grabbing few last chocolates, he walked towards the building side. It was past sunset, the sky turning a shade of beach blue in grey background. But the lights were enough lit around everywhere.
He kept his guitar in locker and passed through the expanses and grounds, searching for Hilary.
"Ah I can just call her," he dialled her number. She didn't pick.
"Why she has been not picking up my calls!" He scouted around and reached a cafeteria which had few peers. He caught a glimpse of black dress receding. He jumped off from bench and followed her. She was walking to washroom, after discarding the chips wrapper.
He dared to walk Inside the girls' washroom, guessing correctly that it should be anyways empty.
Hilary was humming some song as she washed her hands in basin. The sight of his reflection in mirror made her squeal.
"Tyson!" She bluntly turned around and shook her head,
"Hey, chill out." He shrugged.
"What are you doing in here!" She hissed, hoping any girl didn't come inside.
"It's because you keep on ignoring my calls!" He barked,
"My phone is with Hikari since last night." She explained,
"Why!"
"Because she took it away." Hilary sighed, "She does that sometimes, never mind."
"Where were you last night?" He asked in a whisper, stepping towards her and tugging her unruly single bang of hair on side,
"With Hiro and Fae. In Hospital." She said, slightly giddy at his concern.
"You do realize you've exams in 14 days!" He scowled, "How's the preps going up?"
"Just started out in morning today." She sighed.
"If you need my help, I'm available anytime, okay." He reassured her, trying to tear his gaze from her larger ruby eyes. They seemed larger than before.
"Yea." She hissed, not understanding why he was trying to be nice to her.
"Okay." He was quiet. He looked aside, it was silent. The sounds of students clearing from cafeteria aside was fading. Loud cheers from far away could be heard slightly.
He didn't know what he should say or speak up anything to kill the awkwardness between them.
"It wasn't you who answered the message, right?" He asked,
She blinked, "What message? You had texted me?"
"Nothing." He ignored.
"Thanks for the chocolates by the way! Also the card was cool." He grinned. She nodded.
"Tyson…" she pressed her palm across his shoulder and soothingly whispered, "Thanks for the song, I…I was really amazed to hear you there."
He smirked, "Okay, so what's…"
She was thinking fast, gentleness and innocence spread on her face. He was watching her intently and impatiently,
Her palm slipped way down his elbow and forehand to wrap around his fingers. Her slim and pretty fingers wrapped around his calloused ones. His other hand's fingers were locked across her sleek hair, frozen midway from lovingly caressing it gently when she confessed,
"Yea, I admit. I've been in love with you. I still do." She didn't had the courage to look into his eyes, she was staring at his hand that she held, feeling how easily he played with her hair, messing it up probably. Her voice echoed in her own head, multiple times.
"I knew it all along," he said charmingly, but there was some sort of disdain and conceit in it. She hastily looked up to see his expressions.
"I had the idea," she said, wanting to hear more from him,
"I have been waiting to hear you confess since the day I knew you," He impishly smirked.
"Hm?" She blinked, feeling almost manipulated.
"Whatever. Let's leave now, I think it's kinda suffocating here," he turned to walk away. She caught his wrist, stopping him.
She looked so forlorn suddenly. Utterly dejected yet desperate her voice sounded, "I loved your dedication there, but we are alone now. I said I love you. Don't you have anything to tell me in response?"
His face puckered In confusion and unknown guilt, "What do I've to say?" He shrugged nonchalantly.
She shut her eyes close when those words left his mouth. She left his wrist,
"I get it." She gulped in calmly and walked past him out of the washroom. He caught her by wrist and turned her, "Here," he plugged out the chocolate and pushed subtly in her mouth.
"I am sharing my happiness with you,"
His words meant nothing now to her. He sounded so heartless and brazen. She begrudgingly ate the chocolate, giving him a glare before stomping out of washroom. He quietly followed her from behind, knowing all too well what she has been intending to ask him. His ego wouldn't let him say her anything.
"She would be fine by tomorrow. Nothing much to worry," he whispered to himself and eased up,
He knew she had a fair idea about his feelings, he didn't want to make it more obvious. He kissed her on terrace, dropped hints in anger, that should be sufficient, right- he thought.
He wanted to let this be safe.
'If I ever feel like leaving her, I can.' He smiled at his friends as he walked, heartlessly grinning.
Clouds rumbled in the sky. It was 9.30 p.m. The fest night was ending down, maids and workers were clearing the left over platters, discarded coke bottles, plastics. Boys and girls were scattered across the rising sandy ground, peering at the sky glaring down with clouds, as if angry.
Hilary sighed for the hundredth time and leaned into her chair, too frazzled up. She didn't have any energy left to move or think anything. She was waiting for Hikari to come back. She had left with Kai sometime back as they decided to stroll around before they left. Lydia and Zeo were clicking pictures of themselves, others, sky, stage and all.
She didn't know where Tyson was. Nor she bothered to muse upon his existence anymore now. He made her all bitter and evoked an unpleasant maelstrom of emotions. Peers were clearing the ground, the sky was so powerfully roaring every now and then, winds scurrying away, plastics flying briskly. She looked around bleakly, not even knowing where her phone was.
"Where's this girl!" She cursed her twin. She usually enjoyed such weather, unless it didn't rain, but right now, everyone's presence or precisely Tyson's presence here somewhere made her feel sick and nauseous.
"Are you alright?" A voice called her. It was Tala.
Hilary feebly nodded, "Yeah, can I borrow your phone for a minute please?"
Tala nodded, "Sure."
She called Hikari and mumbled something incoherent, cursing in sideways. Tala curiously frowned.
"You looks alone here. Shall I call Tyson for you-?
"No don't, please." She curtly said, giving him back his phone.
She groaned and got up, clumsily holding her purse and straightening her gown. Tala didn't say anything, trying to figure out what was wrong. Her head was slightly giddy. She teetered away, fumbling with chairs and hands in way. She jostled away Tyson too when he passed by, ignoring him. Hikari showed up right then before Tyson was about to snap,
"I'm sorry! I'm really-"
"Shut up, take me away from here," Hilary said bluntly to Hiky, dismissing Tyson's presence who looked perturbed at her behaviour.
"Are you alright?" He stuttered midway,
"I said you to bloody take me away, Hiky, are you deaf? I feel to kill you right now," she fiercely seethed, glaring into her twins eyes, wobbling away. Hikari didn't even take a second to understand her twin's source of anger and anxiety. She wrapped her arm around Hilary and took her away, purposely jostling Tyson's arm from side.
"I've never seen Hilary angry ever before…" Tyson murmured in air.
"What happened?" Tala asked, Kane coming from behind,
"You've been gone to look out for her," Kane raised a brow,
"Y-yeah," he cleared his throat, "We'll see."
"What I feel is, you're just playing with her feelings-"
Kai interrupted Tala, "To put it rather, he's actually playing with himself as well. You've no idea what you're doing,"
"I'm glad you said this," Ray quipped,
"I haven't done anything!" Tyson yelled out, scowling.
"You know it. Everything." Kane patted him, his voice deep and firm.
"You are our closest friend, we would hate to see you hurt at a point where even we or Hiro can't rescue you from," Kane smiled rashly, patting him harder. Tyson resisted wincing.
"Let's leave for now," Max said, hoping it would give his friend a rest.
Raindrops clattered loudly, clouds roaring softly every minute.
It was dark, car revving up through the boulevards to their apartment, window panes pulled up, cosy inside. Inside…a tired feminine figure was shivering, buried in her sister's arms helplessly, her lips quivering, voice wavering, eyes redder than ever, mind fogged with so many unsaid words and touches, chest aching weirdly.
"It's okay. Just sleep." Hikary's voice came softly, caressing her sister, "It will be alright."
She wanted to murder Tyson right now for hurting her sister. 'I'll never forgive you Tyson. You'll pay for hurting my innocent sister.'
Hikari had given her sleeping pills before sleeping that night. The duo didn't attend college the next day. Hilary woke up at 2 pm, feeling her head light and better.
"It's too late," Hilary looked through the window, the weather was slightly pleasant and not scorching.
"Yea, but you were tired. I'm glad you're okay now." Hikari smiled and asked Hilary to shower and eat her lunch.
Hilary was feeling nicer after devouring Hikari's special cookies.
"I think we should plan a serious schedule for studying. We hardly have time," Hikari told, as Hilary was blankly staring at the flying clouds in sky.
"Yea. I just still feel as if I woke from one long slumber,"
"We should not go to college till exams. Just study in here seriously." Hikari said sternly. Hilary half heartedly nodded,
"My phone-"
"You're not getting it till exams are over." Hikari smiled sarcastically and slammed books on her table.
"Good luck."
Days flew by easily and quickly. Hikari made sure she didn't take any of their conversation which lead to Tyson. She in fact didn't talk about fest or college or sports. In their leisure time, they would bake or watch comedy shows or a horror movie that would make her sleep quicker. Hilary herself hardly any time to think of Tyson. The syllabus was devasting and vast. The pressure drove away every else thought.
That night, Hilary cried to sleep before the pills worked. She had understood clearly that night that Tyson will probably never understand the sensitivity and meaning of her affection or love itself. She lost hope.
Hikari had switched off Hilary's phone after Tyson messaged her couple of times. She blocked his number on her own phone. She had the utter urge to speak him on phone, or rather go to college and shake his collar, punch him in head and go ballistic at him for hurting her sister but she just refrained, not wanting anymore dramas for Hilary to handle.
"I'm good, thanks for sending the important questions." Hikari smiled, her phone etched to her ear.
"How's the preps going on?" Kai asked, airpods plugged in his ears as he took out a shirt for tomorrow.
"Cool. Well honestly, Hilary's doing better than me. She just does that all time."
"Is she okay?" He carefully asked,
"Yeah, I'm making sure of that." Hikari sighed.
"Hm."
"Hey, how was your football match last night? I really forgot to ask you!" She pleaded,
"Figured you'd forget." He smirked, "We won, yeah."
"Tyson lost?" Hikari beamed, smirking.
"Good for you, yeah." Kai smirked.
"I knew you'd do it! I wish if I could share this news with Hils but anyways,"
"Actually… Tyson was supposed to win. I thought he WOULD win, but something was bugging him. He wasn't concentrating and was frustrated." Kai expressed his thoughts.
"Why?" Hikari shrugged,
"I didn't ask him. He's doing fine though."
"Whatever." She dismissed the topic. Kai has been indirectly trying to ask Hikari since fest of what happened between Tyson and Hilary that night. But Hikari didn't say him anything and Kai respected their privacy.
"Oh, who were you fighting with that night at fest?" Kai asked, suddenly remembering that something was wrong with Hikari too that night.
"Your seniors, the 4th years. They are insolent and assholes!" She muttered, "They were teasing me, rather put it, ragging me. Who does that on fest?"
"Who were they?" Kai blinked.
"I don't know, I argued, went ballistic, screamed at their faces and punched two guys. I thought they would retort the same but losers, they walked off,"
"You shouldn't be pulling out such risky stunts. There are many insane freaks in 4th year, I can't even guess who you messed up with," Kai sighed,
"They messed with me, not I." Hikary gave a derisive laughter, "And why should I worry when I've got you by my side,"
"Hn." He nodded, "Okay, but-"
"I've to sleep, I know you love me too." She laughed and bid him goodbye. That was their way of talking.
"Hn, good night."
A/N: I know I left y'all hanging at a point that is so unsatisfactory. Wait to see what happens next! Thanks for reviewing previously!
