Joy

.

There are a few things that bring me joy and calm; like waking up with the daylight, the fresh breeze of a summer afternoon, and the smile I see on you and Moroha as you play together. Today, particularly, I've gotten two of those things at least. The morning has begun quietly, with the sunlight peering through the window of our cabin, which was what woke me up. If I add to that, the clear laughter of Moroha as she plays with you, a few meters away from our home, my joy is complete.

The scene both of you are protagonist of, is one of those I love to observe without missing a detail, so that it becomes engraved in my memory.

Moroha steps on one of the ponds of water the storm from this early morning has left, splashing around, while you follow behind her, trying to cover her from the rain that is starting to fall again. Our daughter is immersed in her game, jumping from puddle to puddle, the agility born from the youkai blood she inherited from you, evident.

I step into the porch, and speak to you.

"InuYasha, don't bother, she'll end up wet all over anyway," I try to dissuade you, yet you seem to become even more focused on your task, as if it were more important than any logical consideration.

"I don't care, I prefer her not getting too drenched," you say.

I take a sip from the tea I've prepared for myself, and that only adds to the calm I'm in. I come to the conclusion then, that sometimes, pragmatism isn't necessary, and that your efforts right now are more oriented towards just showing your love for Moroha; I think she understands it, too, because she looks at you and smiles with that marvelous expression that she gets from her two and a half years of life. She reaches to you with a hand next, inviting you to splash around on a pond that you could fill with just one foot.

You wrap her with one of your arms then, and bring her closer as you cover both of you with the huge leaf you are carrying. Moroha holds herself from one of your locks of hair, as you hop on the small pond of water in the process. I see you returning her smile then, right before asking her:

"More?"

Moroha's smile widens as she points to another puddle.

"More!"

I hope you've liked this small slice of life.

I leave with you a kiss, and my thanks for being here.
